SPEAKER_01At which point, Goodrich, get send him out of here. Get him out of here quick enough. I think John Harbaugh making a very quick determination, this is with Joe Shane and Don Ponte, obviously, that Dexter Lawrence did not want to be the Giants. They kicked him out of the door as quickly as possible, and it's the best thing that they could have done. And I said this two weeks ago. Dex by the way he played, having nothing else, no other input, by the way he played, started to make himself a villain last football season. He was just dogging it. We played that audio a couple of weeks ago as well. When it got to the offseason, and now he's holding out, he's demanding a trade, he's just being malcontent with this team that has paid him, helped him become a star in this league. Giant fans fully turned him into a villain. And so trust me, no giant fan is gonna miss him.
SPEAKER_02So uh that is Tiki Barber talking about Dexter Lawrence getting traded, uh calling him from his play last year as being a villain, and uh that you know he didn't give full effort and that the Giant fans aren't gonna miss him. I I kind of disagree the Giant fans aren't gonna miss him. Um, I don't think we're gonna like him being a malcontent. And I think what this shows is that uh John Harbaugh is not gonna put up with malcontents. He said in his opening presser he wants guys that want to play and want to be here, and and he's proven that with Dexter. So we're gonna get into the Dexter situation uh because this podcast, we normally don't do a pre-draft podcast. This is both a pre-draft and a Dexter Lawrence trade impact uh recap. Uh we are the three Angry Giant fans and a Jet fan, and uh it's your host Scott. We don't have Giant Mike, we got Cardone and Jets fan Novak. So Giant Mike is MIA right now. Uh but guys, season seven. Season seven's kicked off with a bang. Damn. Got the draft. We're gonna have a lot of action tomorrow. Um, we are gonna do a draft recap Sunday. So uh guys, be on the lookout for two pods in a row here in the offseason. Welcome back, boys.
SPEAKER_00It's great to be back. We were just talking before we came on, man. It's uh, you know, I I I gotta shake some of the rust off, but as soon as we start talking football, it's uh it's midseason. Here we go. So it's uh I'm just thrilled to be joining you guys again for another season of uh of Three Angry Giant fans and and uh jet fan Novic. So this is um uh the the uh the chaos continues uh with our with our pod. So happy to bring it to uh to our listeners. Happy to be with you guys, and uh let's get it going, man. So happy to uh get a new season started.
SPEAKER_04I'm excited. This is great. I mean, I'm glad we're doing this before because there's a lot that we I mean we've been off for a couple of months, and a lot has happened over the last couple of months when you really think about it. Beyond just trades and free agency, there's you know stuff going on with both of our teams. Um, I'm excited to talk about it. So let's let's get it rolling. So uh yeah, Scott, I'm sure you're gonna do a shout-out, but um yeah, I'm excited.
SPEAKER_02I am not gonna do a shout-out because we haven't had any episodes since January. But what I am gonna do is I'm gonna give a plug. So uh last night I did something I normally don't do. I'm not a draft nick, but I was asked to be on a live stream from uh uh a podcast called the Guy's Sports Night. So it's Guy's Sports Night, night with a Knight rather than N. Um, there's Cleveland Browns fans, and we had a panel of seven of us up there talking about the draft and prospects, and it was a live stream, and it went for almost three hours. And the three hours went by quickly. It was it was a fun time, good discussion. Uh Cardone, you're gonna love this. Intern Darren sort of fucked us in the beginning. Uh, the first five minutes I couldn't get on the live stream because of technical difficulties. Was it the same guy who runs the Whopper over at the uh you know the our fate one of our favorite taverns over there on uh GS yeah, so so once I got on the live stream, things started rolling after that. But uh yeah, I was the first impression was that uh the Angry Giant fan doesn't know what the hell's going on from a technology standpoint.
SPEAKER_04It was it was pretty I I did watch the first hour, um, and it was it was funny because they started the thing off, the guys did their introductions and they go, and last but not least, Scott from the Three Angry Giant fans and Jeff FM podcast. And Scott was going and then he went off screen. And you're like, oh I guess Scott's got difficulties, and then he came back in.
SPEAKER_00Also, Scott, you were the Whopper guy, is what you're saying.
SPEAKER_02I was I was the one that fucked it.
SPEAKER_00You were the Whopper guy. Sorry, I was thinking that it was it was yeah.
SPEAKER_04Kudos to Scott, he did it, he did a good job, he represented us well. Um, they were all I look, I gotta I gotta tell you, I would have been intimidated as hell to be on that thing because these guys were breaking down defensive backs from Western Michigan in the seventh round. Like it was and Scott held his own. So well done, Scott.
SPEAKER_02The the best part of the night, Cardone, we had a Chargers fan on there. So the two was great. The panelist was two Chiefs fans, two Giants fans, a Charger fan, and two Browns fans. A Steeler fan.
SPEAKER_00And a Steeler fan, yeah, and a Steeler fan too. And and we were that's not even a good poker hand right there. That's terrible.
SPEAKER_02So and and we were talking about the Cardinals and their trade-up, trade-down possibilities, maybe even with the Chiefs. And the the host said, Well, you know, we were looking for a Cardinals fan, but where does one fight a Cardinals fan? And I'm thinking to myself the whole time, you found a Chargers fan.
SPEAKER_00So hey, I gotta ask you, Scott. So during the draft, was uh was Africa by Toto playing it all in the background? What was what was the music theme in the background? There's a backstory here for our listeners, but like a number of years ago, we know we we used to always gather at Scott's house for the for a live draft. It's one of the one of the best days of the year. And I know I don't play anymore, so yes, I but uh and uh finally around the fifth round, one of the guys during a pause or something said, like, what the fuck are we listening to? We had soft rock on the entire time. It was it was and it happened to just be like Africa uh Toto's Africa, where we we just by by the fifth round, I think we had a bunch of disgruntled guys already, and we needed some hard rock or something to kind of get the uh the juices flowing. And we're listening to uh we're listening to Sade Smooth Smooth Operator or something.
SPEAKER_04I think we're I think we were rocking like Ambrosia and Bread and a couple of these others, and we're like, what are we doing? Like listening to 12 guys listening to Ambrosia.
SPEAKER_02Let's get out of here. If I knew at the time that I was cutting edge, I could have started the Yacht Rock experience back then.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's true. Which which I'm kind of railing on myself here because I love yacht rock. I do, I listen to it. Same thing.
SPEAKER_02So, guys, get into football. Dexter Lawrence was traded. Uh, he was traded straight up for the number 10 pick to the Cincinnati Bengals, which is an interesting twist because obviously, you know, we know the Max Crosby situation where he was traded, then not traded, and then Cincinnati ended up trading their their strong defensive player to to the the Raiders. So uh they're down a defensive guy, they jump back into the to the fray by getting Dexter Lawrence, and the Giants give up a 10 pick. And looking at it on face value, I I I love it because Dexter Lawrence is 28 years old. He's coming off an injury season, he's coming off a season where he also had, you know, let's let's say he had a pretty bad attitude. I mean, Carl Banks did call him out several times during the season for his lack of effort. And you know, Dex is one of those guys, even four or five years ago, they'd go to his locker and and talk to him and he'd say, you know, man, I'm not a leader, I'm just I'm here to play ball, you know, and and that's okay in certain situations, but then when you become a malcontent, that kind of stuff turns pretty quickly. And I could see I love I I love Dexter Lawrence, you know. It's sad that he's leaving. I, you know, luckily I didn't buy a Dexter Lawrence jersey because usually that's the kiss of death. Uh, this just happened on its own. But getting the five and the ten pick is is is really good. And I'll tell you this Novak will like this stat. Joe Shane is the only GM in NFL history to have two top ten picks in two separate years. You know why? Because most GMs that do that get canned before they have a chance to do it a second time.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, well, and his other time was uh Evan Neal and Thibodeau, so it's not like he like hit it out of the park with that other one.
SPEAKER_00So I remember being thrilled when we got Neil. I think it was number seven.
unknownRight?
SPEAKER_00The Giants had the fifth and fifth and they took Tibbs at five and Neil at seven, and I remember being thrilled, but uh yeah, but Scott, you know how like you sometimes you don't um you know you don't know exactly how you're gonna react to hearing some news about your own team, right? So when I got the news on Saturday night that uh that the trade occurred, my my instincts was just good riddance, man. Goodbye. You know, like it wasn't I I felt more thrilled about getting a top another top ten pick than I was while holding on to Dexter. So I was I was actually pretty I was happy about it, Scott. So same the same thing, I think, as you. Um, where now we can go out and get another. I looked at it this way. You know, the the Giants they have seven wins combined the last two years with Lawrence on the roster, right? So you're not a you're not a left tackle, you're not a defensive end, you're certainly not a quarterback or one of those top guys. So I had a list of, and it was a very short list in the offseason of about eight, maybe ten guys that like you wanted like that have to come back. Like once once we got Harbaugh, Harbaugh as our as the coach, I'm like, this team, you knew the roster was gonna be turned upside down. So I made a list of about 10 guys. I think probably the same guys every other giant fan probably has on their list. And Lawrence was like, bro, on the cusp. If he goes, great. If not, I mean it then get get your attitude straight. This is a new regime. This is the the Harbaugh regime regime, and he wasn't gonna be part of it. So I'm thrilled with the uh extra top 10 pick.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I I think you I think you should be thrilled with the trade uh in in and of itself, right? I think you absolutely for Lawrence, you got you know, uh I can I can't believe you got the tenth pick in the draft for Dexter Lawrence, who was a malcontent. All of that said, you got worse as a team. You just did. Because remember the the great stat that we threw out, it was in like week seven or eight when the New York Yanks and the Cincinnati Reds were the only two worse teams against the run in the history of the NFL. Well, you just lost Dexter Lawrence, who that was one of his things he was good at. So I you know, yes, in the short term, and when you look at it as value, you lost salary cap, you you're gonna get a number 10 pick, all great, but I think you got worse as a team in the short term. I really do.
SPEAKER_02I I I'd agree with that, and and I think the that's the sad thing for me as a Giants fan is that we're probably gonna come out of the first three rounds of this draft with possibly two Ohio State players. We could get two in the in the top ten. Uh there's a there's another guy out there, Caden McDonald, a defensive tackle from from uh from OSU, who who also could possibly end up being a giant in the in the second round. So, you know, you have Sonny Styles linebacker and Caleb Downs safety. Safety's pretty high to take at five, but guys, I mean Giants, Giants need defensive help. I could see them going downs. I'm hearing Downs' name a ton more over the last few few weeks, more so than than Jeremiah Love anymore. Um, and and a little known fact, Caleb Downs is the son of Gary Downs, former Giants running back.
SPEAKER_00So we got a little bit of a family tree there with uh with Downs. But yeah, I'm okay with taking Ohio State guys. I may not like that program as a as a fan. I'm I'm certainly not a fan of Ohio State, but they produce some pretty damn good NFL players. So if we can grab uh two guys from from Ohio State, I think that's a win right there for sure. So um yeah, I you know, I don't know. You know, I've been asked by friends and co-workers and and you know, just where the before we even had you know the the the Lawrence traded and picking at 10, like who and I wasn't sure I didn't have a guy at five, even like, oh, this is absolutely who the Giants need, this is who they're gonna get. I've been I myself have been waffling through the guys you just named, and then also uh you know we need another receiver. So Carnell Tate was kind of the guy that was in that you know that mid, you know, for uh single digits uh pick. But now I'm seeing uh was it Jordan Tyson, I think, from from Arizona State. I'm seeing it it apparently Shane had dinner with this guy last week. All right, I just I was reading up on that today. So apparently he's moving up and Tate seems to be moving back a little bit. They've kind of flip-flopped at the wide receiver position. So I don't know, do the Giants go you know, one defensive player? And I think with whether it's Styles or Downs, I even a safety is pretty tough to take at five. It seems like that's a reach or that's a pretty rich pick to go for safety there. But I don't know, this guy seems like he's that much of an impact player. And again, I have to go back and look at some articles and some things on the guys. I can't quite remember that you know from the season, you know, you know, how much of an impact player um you know he was at safety, but um I don't know. We're gonna it's it's gonna be interesting to see where what direction the Giants go in.
SPEAKER_02Is Tate Ohio State as well? He is, right?
SPEAKER_04He is Cardinal Tate, yeah, yeah. Ohio State. Yeah, I think I think you're gonna go receiver with your second pick, which is gonna screw the Jets because we need a receiver with our second pick. So you've got the the three big ones, which are Tate, Dyson, and Lemon. Um, and I think those three are gonna be gone now by the time the Jets draft at 16. So this trade actually hurt me because I think the Giants will go wide receiver with your second pick. I could be completely wrong. And you do need to now fix fix the defense now that you've lost your uh second or third best defensive player. Um you know, I don't know that I don't remember seeing a a D tackle that was projected to be in the top 10. So you maybe you get someone in the second round or something like that. But um yeah, it'll be interesting with the Giants, which which was great for the for us tomorrow night. A quarter of the first 16 picks are newer are Jets and Giants.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_04I mean, which is great. It's gonna be fun. It's gonna be a lot of fun to watch and exciting and to see what what uh transpires. But um, yeah, that what the Giants do at 10 is gonna really affect what the Jets do at 16. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The uh the interesting thing about number 10 is that the Giants also, because they they need help on the line, they they they don't have a guard right now. Um, they could go for Francis uh Maui Goa, yeah. Myoga um from uh Miami. He's he's a tackle in college, but he also played guard and he projects to a guard in the pros. The weirdest thing to me about this draft, and I I don't think that there's a a more than three to four guys in this draft who are going to be superstars. I I put men mendoza in that camp too. I think Mendoza is a guy who probably be the third or fourth quarterback off the board in most years. You get up you get past 10, 12, 14, and even within those 14 picks, you're looking at possibly three to four busts, I think. So this draft is very low on star potential, but you look at rounds three through seven, it's it you can find a lot of value out there, and you're gonna see, I think, out of this draft, more fifth and sixth rounders become household names than any other draft because the it's like three through seven. It's just a big, big pool of players, but there's a lot of depth there at certain positions, wide receivers, one of them, uh offensive lines, one of them. Uh, but they're but they're second-tier guys right now.
SPEAKER_04I mean, I saw uh an article that said next year's draft, not just against the quarterbacks, even though there's ten that could come out next year that are are draft worthy uh in the first two rounds, could be the bet greatest draft of all time. I mean that says something, which is exciting for me because the Jets have three picks in the first in the first round next year. Um, you know, don't forget, they say Jeremiah Smith from Iho again another Ohio State could be the best receiver we've seen in the last 20 years. Someone was saying. So next year's draft is gonna be exciting. But you're right, Scott. I think this is deep. I don't think there's any difference between uh picking at 16 and 33 or 32. I don't think there's a lot of difference there. So that's why I think and Scott, to his credit on that thing last night on that podcast, said I think there's gonna be a lot of trades from 18 to you know 32. Things moving up, moving back, that type of thing, because I don't know that there's a big difference between a player you dropped at 16 or 17 until the middle of the second round.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_02And we may see, you know, this is gonna be a strange year. We may see one quarterback in the first round. Now, now you say that and you're you're you're probably gonna see someone move up and get get Ty Simpson at the end of the first round or something like that. But the way it's shaking out now, what most experts think, Mendoza's going number one, and you're not gonna see another quarterback till middle of round two or so.
SPEAKER_00So I was just gonna make that point, Scott. I was I was just looking at a few mock drafts today. And uh yeah, uh, Mendoza, of course, there's there's no question he's going to to Vegas number one. And then yeah, I was gonna ask you guys, like, who who's when when does the next quarterback come off the board? So this is a strange draft. This very rare do you have a year where at least uh there's not at least at least one other quarterback that comes out you know somewhere in the first round. So this is really an odd um just an odd odd year where you just you don't have you know you you don't have a top quarterback outside of Mendoza, and then like you're just saying, Novak, um, you know, middle, middle to late first round is gonna be really interesting. So this is you know, really the you know, the draft, I mean, like the first night, uh, I'll watch all 32 picks. It's you know, you you you you kind of stay up and watch for the whole you know the whole first round and then uh and maybe and then like the second round too, and then that's where like Scott, you were saying the third rounds through three through seven, you know, uh you just look to see like oh Giants drafted what position? You know, like I don't know those freaking guys. That's where I I'd have to go you know tap into the the the live stream guys from last night to figure out who's coming from western Michigan.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I mean, good God, these guys were breaking down guys that I mean programs I barely knew were division one, it was out of control.
SPEAKER_02So I I will be linking the live stream to our our our show notes tonight. So for those of you that want to go watch it, it was a good watch. I I I th thoroughly enjoyed it. Uh you know, we we're talking about the Giants at 5 and 10, but Novak. Yeah, I mean the Jets are at two. The the Jets have two picks in the first round. Um I I have a feeling the Giants fucked the Jets twice this year. I think they I think they fucked them when they beat the Raiders, which really they had they had no choice but to beat the Raiders in that game, if anyone watched that game. And then the second one you just mentioned it, you know, that trade going to number 10, they could possibly take now a player that that the Jets want. And yeah, and I I worry about the Jets at number two because I think you're in a tough position there. Because if you go Bailey, he's a sure thing. And if you go Reese, Reese is the guy I'm looking at in this entire first round to be the biggest bust.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so Reese scares me because he reminds me a lot of a guy that the Jets Jets drafted about 10 years ago, eight years ago, Vernon Golston. Remember him?
SPEAKER_02He he got brought up in the in the in the live stream last night.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, so he was a freak of an athlete the Jets drafted in the top five. And I remember being completely pumped about this because I bought into the like he's a freak athlete, and he he barely made it through year one. And so I think the Jets are are are such a dysfunctional organization. My assumption is they're gonna take Bailey because they can't afford to have another whiff uh at the second pick like they did with Zach Wilson. So that's my assumption that what of what they're gonna do it too. I could be completely wrong. And look, I love the upside of Reese from but but from what from what I've read, he he he could be bust, like Scott was saying last night. So I would I'd rather go for the safe thing. I prefer Bailey, but I'm not gonna be like, you know, screaming at the TV if they draft Reese. I mean, maybe they know something I don't. Um at 16, I they're gonna they're absolutely going to draft a receiver. And if the big three are gone, I think they might go for that guy Cooper from uh Indiana. Cooper's good. Cooper's good. So I'd be f I'd be fine with that. The one thing I do not want, and I'm gonna state this and be emphatic about it, do not draft Ty Simpson. I I want nothing to do with him in round one. I want nothing to do with him in round two. He's a 6'1 quarterback that has played 16 uh college football games. We've been down this road with Zach Wilson. Don't do it again. Now I understand that Ty Simpson had better competition at Alabama than Zach Wilson did at Costa Carolina, or sorry, at BYU, he played Costa Carolina. But I I don't want to go down this road. We have seen it. If he's not an athletic quarterback at six foot one, I'd rather have I'd rather in round four take Drew Allar, who's like 6'5 ⁇ 230, that has a cannon arm that had a bad senior year, then roll the dice with Ty Simpson. Because next year, when there are 10 quarterbacks coming out that are all decent, I'd rather get my quarterback next year. But the other thing with the Jets for the draft this year, the one thing I'll I will put out there, keep an eye on, I think the Jets will make A trade during the draft for uh our backup quarterback. And I think it's going to be a younger type quarterback with a lot of upside. So think of like Spencer Rattler, Will Levis, Anthony Richardson. Like, can we catch lightning in a bottle with a guy that like had a bad first few years with a bad organization? Something like that. I could see the Jets doing that. Um, because they right now they don't have a backup. They didn't sign Tyrod, and their backup right now is Brady Cook. I think they're waiting to trade for uh potential backup with upside. So we'll see how that goes.
SPEAKER_02Isn't their backup Justin Fields?
SPEAKER_04Good God, he's gone. Thank God. And and look, and I love RGM. The fact that he got a six-round draft choice for Justin Fields is highway robbery that this that the Chiefs took him off our. I would have given them a fourth-round draft choice to take him off our hands.
SPEAKER_02You know, and and and the storylines coming out of that, you you know that's not going to be labeled as a bad move by the Chiefs. Oh, look at Andy Reid. Getting getting insurance for Patrick Mahomes with Justin Fields.
SPEAKER_00No, Fields is now considered, you know, like I said, yeah, he's a he's a vet, he's a savvy veteran. He's uh, you know, he's he's he's um you know uh uh an electric, electric, fine, electrifying player. Yeah, he'll fit right into Reed's system.
SPEAKER_04And and and yet again, here's the funny thing with that trade. Yet again, the the narrative was well, he wanted to go to the Chiefs, and the Jets did him a solid fuck off. The Jets would have traded him to you know the UFL if they could for a couple bucks.
SPEAKER_00It's like Shador Sanders last year, like like he had a choice of where he was going. Yeah, like yeah.
SPEAKER_04Like remember when he traded to the Steelers and they were like, well, Justin, Justin wanted to go to the Steelers, so the Bears did him a solid. Get out of here. No one wants, no one cares about Justin Fields.
SPEAKER_02So uh the the funny thing about this draft that I think is going to play into the fact that I think there will be a lot of trades in in the first round is that there are six teams with two picks. You know, we both have two picks. I you know, the dolphins have two picks, I think the Chiefs have two picks, there's there's the Cardinals have two picks. There's there's several several teams that have two picks in this draft in the first round. Um, so you're gonna see I think a lot of maneuvering and and keep in mind the factor of of Jerry Jones. He does not sit on his hands in a marquee situation like this, and and there's talk about him jumping up in the top five to try and get Sonny Styles so that the Giants don't. And I'd be perfectly fine with that. I think Sonny Styles as a linebacker is going to be a solid player in this league, but you is he worth a trade-up to get? I I don't think so.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I don't know. It seemed, if you guys remember last year, that it seemed like Jones and the Cowboys were kind of quiet in the first round. Um, if if I remember correctly, where weren't making a lot of noise. So I I was just thinking of the same things too, Scott. I I I have a feeling he's gonna be active. Dallas is gonna be, I'm seeing a you know a number of um projections as well that he's maybe looking to make make a trade up somewhere. Not quite sure. I saw one spot he was looking one prediction he was looking to trade out with Kansas City actually at number nine. Uh it's just again, just a kind of a random prediction, but um yeah, I have a feeling Dallas is gonna be active tomorrow night in the first round as well.
SPEAKER_02So Novak, I know you were high on Mendoza, and you know, you were were hopeful the Jets would get him at number one. What do you guys what do you guys think of Mant Mendoza and and his his professional chances? I I mean from from my standpoint, I I think he's off to a bad start because he's gonna go to the to the to Vegas and that Raiders franchise. Um, I don't know what to make of him. He's a gamer, he showed a a lot of accuracy in college. Uh I just don't know where he, you know, is he gonna be a superstar? Is he gonna be a guy uh like a journeyman, or is he gonna be a a backup? I I don't know. I I don't know what to think of him. I mean I know you would have taken him in a harpy, and I would have. And I would have in your position too.
SPEAKER_04Here's the thing I absolutely would have, and I wanted him all year long. I wanted the Jets to tank to get him. And I'm not just saying this because we have the second pick, but I kind of agree with you that the longer that this goes on, I start thinking and and watching and listening and learning a little bit, and I'm like, is he maybe just a little overhyped because it's such a bad quarterback draft class? Like if you were coming out next year with Arch Manning and Dante Moore and you know, uh the guy from Oklahoma, and all I can remember all of them at off the top of my head. Is he really the number one pick? Probably not. So, what does that tell you? You know, the NFL and does a really good job of overhyping uh players so that it gets a little juice to the draft. Um, so I don't know. I I I agree with you that he could be bust potential. I don't think he's gonna be a bust. I don't think he's gonna be Jamarcus Russell, but I also don't think he's going to be Tom Brady. I think he's probably gonna be middling average, 12th, 13th best best quarterback in the league. It's kind of how I'm seeing it now. But what what the hell do I know? He could be the he could be a Hall of Famer and be the greatest of all time. But but that's my gut tells me he's going to be middle of the road kind of guy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I we well, time will tell, of course, right? But um, I think you make a good point though, with especially in a in a we just mentioned a quarterback, very uh light quarterback uh draft early in the draft. So is he being elevated quite a bit? I I think he is. Um obviously had a magical year in that run with Indiana last year. So um but would he have been you know if Indiana doesn't go have the year they did, obviously, and and you know, is he uh well first of all, we know he's going to a dysfunctional uh franchise in in the Raiders. So I he I probably I don't think he could be going to a worse team other than maybe Cleveland uh in terms of or the Jets, in terms of um, you know, just uh you know dysfunction running amok. So uh we'll we'll see what happens in in his rookie year. But I think he's one of those guys that like just his uh ability to be you know grounded, he's got the IQ, he's got all those intangibles, I think, as far as his personality and all those things. He's definitely a uh a playbook kind of guy. He's gonna be the first one in, last guy out, studying the play, all that shit, studying film. He's gonna be one of those guys. So what that means on an NFL field, though, is you know, is um, yeah, we'll we'll we'll soon find out. But yeah, I think for the first year, um, especially with that team, can't expect much from the guy. And but I think you know, if you want to project further out, you know, maybe the first five years of his career, I think he'll be middle of the pack. I think he'll be like maybe Kirk Cousins. You know, it's funny you said that. I had cousins in my head. Yep. Um, I almost was gonna say Trevor Lawrence, but I think Lawrence is you know, even maybe even above, you know, um, you know, uh above, you know, good, you know, for sure. So Kirk Cousins is is actually who came to my mind. I didn't I didn't verbalize it.
SPEAKER_04So but you're right, because you know he's got the Christian thing and he's sort of like level-headed, and he's a nice guy, and he all about the team and he says the right things. He he does strike me, and that's interesting that they brought Kirk Cousins in to be you know his you know tootelage guy kind of guy or whatever mentor or whatever, mentor, whatever you want to call it. That's kind of what he strikes me as. Um, and and I think this is gonna be an interesting year to watch because this is really gonna be the first year where we see the impact of the of the transfer portal and the NIL and all these types of things, because you know, traditionally you would have a quarterback that would have to elevate a team, right? And then you could get a sense of he's going to make a college team better just but by being who he is. But now you get all these guys coming in that you just throw in for a year and they win a national championship. Does he have so many players around him that he's better than he actually is? I don't I don't know. I I don't have the answer to that, but I think it'll be it'll be interesting to watch this.
SPEAKER_02You guys got anything that you see draft-wise from around the league?
SPEAKER_04Not really draft-wise, not not especially. I think this is uh a very different draft from what we're used to, right? We've got I think what seven to ten impact type players, and then after that it's a crapshoot. I just don't know that there's and not a lot of quarterbacks, not a lot of skill position players other than the big three wide receivers. Um yeah, I I I it's I think this will be I think there's good like you said, Scott, I think you'll a lot of these teams will find a lot of impact players maybe later on in the draft that we don't know about because everyone's focused on on the the first round as usual, but we'll see.
SPEAKER_02One thing I do think about is that because there's not that high talent, I don't think early in the draft, and that's why I said in the back half of the of the first round, you're gonna see a lot of trades. I don't think early on you're gonna see too much action because you're gonna give up way too much to go after a guy, you know, that that that may not pan out. Yeah, matter of fact, for the Giants, you know, people keep asking me, and I think we have a question about it, you know, where are they gonna trade out of the five or ten spot? I don't see that happen. If they trade out of a spot, I see them trading out of the second round spot, maybe going down a few more spots and picking up a third, something like that. But but I I just don't see I don't see the interest because one of the trade partners they may have is Dallas. Uh, do they want to trade with Dallas? Do you want to trade with Washington? If Washington wants to jump up and get you know one of the players like Jeremiah Love, you know, that's a that's been talked about a possibility, you know.
SPEAKER_04I I'm interested, I am interested to see where he goes, right? Because we've talked for how many years about the devaluing of the running back position, and then every year there's like the one, whether it's B. John Robinson or now it's Jeremiah Love, and he's an impact player. And is he gonna be in top five? Like where he and I know that I've seen a lot of mocks that say he's going to the Giants. Yeah. What do you guys think about that?
SPEAKER_02I you know the the problem I have with love coming to the Giants, especially now that Lawrence has been traded, is I don't see running back as a huge need. Now, I'm not saying that we're we're we're the strongest team at running back, but Tracy is more than than he's better than average in my book. And then you got Scatabo, you still have Singletary on the roster. Those three guys alone are are are adequate enough, I think, to to have a decent rushing attack. Um, if you add love, you add a guy who's got that potential that Saquon Barkley had, but I in this draft, I just think there's so many needs that the Giants have on the defensive side of the ball or even at wide receiver that would supersede what they need at running back.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I Novak, you made the point before about how porous the Giants were against the run, you know. So I would if they were to draft Love, I would not I would be pissed, actually. I really would be. I I I don't think that would be a good use of uh uh a number five or or even a number ten pick if he get if he drops that fall. I mean, I've seen a lot of um mocks where he's going to Tennessee at number four. Yes, uh I see I see him in that slot quite a bit. Uh obviously a great player, but not what we need. Just not in terms of our top priorities. Um need to desperately get better defensively. We we need we have a lot of holes, of course, but uh I want to I I'd be okay. I I want to see it's weird because if you ask me tomorrow night, I might I might change my mind because I I mentioned even earlier, I I we I know we I want another receiver, so that's you know having that extra pick uh you know allows us to maybe pick a receiver, either a five or ten. But at the same time, if we went defense, defense and both those picks, I'm I I think that's uh a wise decision too. So this is gonna be interesting. It's gonna be we need Giants need a lot on on obviously on both sides of the ball. I mean that goes without saying. We know that.
SPEAKER_04And I was gonna I was gonna say that because you know when you got when you get Harbaugh, you you kind of like for a for a short time you think it covers up a lot of issues that the Giants have. And uh a coach can't you know cover the fact that they're weak at wide receiver, right? You don't have any offensive line depth, you've got a good at least starting five, but I don't think you have much depth there. Your defensive line is completely weakened now that you got Dexter Lawrence gone. Your linebackers are not they're okay. I mean, you've got what one or two that are decent. Your corner, your secondary is really not you lost flat, right?
SPEAKER_02Lost flat, yeah.
SPEAKER_04We lost so there's all there's more holes to the Giants just because they got John Harbaugh doesn't mean they're all of a sudden going to be great. I think they will be a lot better, but you do have a lot of holes.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02I the the the one thing I don't like is when people talk about Harbaugh and and how he has the running game in Baltimore, had the running game in Baltimore with Derrick Henry. Um, one of my biggest complaints about Harbaugh, actually, is that I thought it might not have been him, it was the offensive coordinator more so, but I thought the the Ravens abandoned the run way too often. They had Derrick Henry and late in games, they're they're they're getting cute throwing the ball. It's like run the friggin' ball with Henry. I would love the Giants to do that, and that it concerns me that that Harbaugh won't do that with the Giants. So that's one of the things about taking love that that gives me pause. Is that he actually gonna be used when they need to close the game out?
SPEAKER_04Can I say something about the Giants real quick?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Okay, and this is like so we get a lot of feedback that we don't disagree with each other very much, but I'm gonna disagree on one thing here, and this is probably gonna bite my ass for the next 16 weeks. I don't like Dart.
SPEAKER_01I don't. I find him douchey.
SPEAKER_04I really do. I'm and I understand. And you know what? I know, Jet fan, I'm jealous. I probably am because he's good and he's gonna be great and the whole thing. I find him to be douchey. I just do. This offseason has confirmed it for me between the the stupid clothes that he wears and and the the girlfriend that looks like she's fake, like AI generated, and I something about him rubs me the wrong way. And I don't know why. It's probably because I'm a jet fan. I don't like him. I just don't. So I I want you guys to win. I'm rooting for you guys to win. I don't like him. I'm just saying.
SPEAKER_02Novak, you really shouldn't like you know the quarterback of a lot of other teams. Uh, you know, I mean, Dart to me, if if he's if he's on the Cowboys, I'm saying the same exact things you are. I'm like, look at this Instagram douche, you know, he's he's posting uh you know about his escapades doing this, eating that. You know, it's like what the hell's going on? Your girlfriend's ordering it you to go around and do stuff. It's like, come on, dude, what do you what the hell's up with you? But yeah, I mean the giant giants have lived with these guys for years. I mean, look at ODB. I mean, that Beckham Beckham was he he was like the first in that. He he wouldn't he would go viral all the time for crap.
SPEAKER_00Well, I've said this all the time. You could do whatever the hell you want off the field. I don't care. Like if he is he, I'm not gonna disagree. Like he's is he douchey off the field? I sure do whatever you want off the field. On the field, that's all I care about. As a fan, you should I care about uh whatever he that's it. On in between the lines on the field, that's all I care about what this guy does. Um, I think you guys know where I stand. I can't stand any of that bullshit uh Instagram posting bullshit social media crap. You know, I'm I've never been a fan of it. So whatever these guys do, uh, you know, in their personal private lives, which we always you know mock on fans, like what do you care what this guy does off the fucking field? I mean, I we all do it because we we live in America, and it's like we have to, you know, so you can't help it because it's shoved down our throat. But for me, it's like I just game day, what is this guy doing? Is he winning me football games? That's it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, and when you're not and when you're not a fan of the team, find reasons to hate people, right? Absolutely. So my my thing is like, how about winning a few games before you're acting like you're Joe Burrow? Because you're not, you're not Joe Burrow yet. And Scatterboo, you know what? You're not grunk. You're not. Stop it. Stop trying to be grunk, win some games, and then you can act like grunk. But until then, shut up. Stop with the partying and the WWE and the stupid headbutting and all that. Stop it.
SPEAKER_02All I know is that we've seen more of Jackson Dart's girlfriend than the dick's wife.
SPEAKER_00That's true. That is that is pretty funny. I love how we have to slip dick in there tonight. I I really do.
SPEAKER_02I wanted to tell the guy out from Pittsburgh last night a live stream that hey, our pod calls him the dick. Did you say that? I didn't know I didn't say that.
SPEAKER_04No, I said I wanted to. But but honestly, let's talk about him for a second. Yeah, how is he doing this again?
SPEAKER_00How is he doing this again?
SPEAKER_04Make someone hostage. What is this, five years in a row? Six years?
SPEAKER_00Like, who does this? And and why are we putting up with it?
SPEAKER_02Why is he what it's because Mike McCarthy's there now. McCarthy's gonna put up with it because but isn't this the Steelers?
SPEAKER_04This isn't the Jets. This is the Steelers. I know. Like they're they're in they're in the same held in the same regard as the Giants and the Packers and the Bears and the Cowboys. Like, this is the Steelers. This is the one some schlocky organization.
SPEAKER_00No, they don't put up with the Steelers.
SPEAKER_04They don't, and yet he gets away with it, this guy with his fake wife, and doesn't know if he's playing. It's May. We still don't know if he's playing.
SPEAKER_02So I I did want to go back to to love for just one second because I I was thinking about one thing today, and and you don't I haven't seen this, I don't think, in several years, but there's two running backs from from Notre Dame that could go in the first round. And the last time we saw something like that, I believe, was Cadillac Williams and Ronnie Brown. Yep. When and they came out from was it Auburn? Yeah. I think it was Auburn. They were both, I don't know if they were both first round picks, or one was a first-round pick, the other was a high second round pick, but both those guys had really, really good careers. And I think I think love is going to be a good running back, but I also think you know Notre Dame's got two guys that could be very good in the NFL. Anything anything else from around the league?
SPEAKER_04I do have something I want to address. And I've been holding this in, and I've been waiting for this pod to get it off my chest. All right. So two years ago, this is let's call it January of 24, I want to say it was, maybe even a little bit before, the Jets were they a report came out that the Jets organization was totally effed. They they were completely dysfunctional. You know, you remember this one where the Woody Johnson's son was like watching Madden and like making player recommendations that Woody Johnson was agreeing to, and Salah was taking the phones from all the coaches, and um there was a bunch, a whole bunch of stuff. I I'm not gonna go into all of it. But the end at the end of the day, I remember being completely embarrassed by it. I was coming on this pod, you guys were laughing about the Jets, and it it it was awful. I I hated it. I hate the embarrassment of these these reports that come out. Do you remember who broke that story? I do that. It was Diana Roussini. It was Diana Roussini who broke that story. And at the time, I remember thinking to myself, how the hell does she get this information? Like and what in what way is this woman man, woman, doesn't matter, but how are they getting the information to blow this up? And someone might say, Oh, big deal. They were just, you know, giving information about the what's going on behind the scenes. But you can't tell me that that information doesn't affect free agents, potential coaches who are going to go to this organization and be like, I don't want to go to that trash organization that the owner is listening to his 17-year-old kid. And this came out, and so I was pissed. So when this whole Roussini Vrabel thing came out, and is anyone on an AI or a ChatGPT or anything like that? Because I want to find out how does this information about the Jets get out? And I think I have the connection, but I'm not gonna say it, but I want ChatGPT to tell us how this connection came out. So you have it, Cardone? I am, I'm on here. So here's what I want you to write in there. I want you to to type in there Jets coaches from 24 who used to coach for the Titans. Because I want I don't know, is there anyone that maybe coached for the Titans in 24 or prior to 24 when all this information came out? Let me know if someone comes up from that. Because the NFL needs to do an investigation how this shit gets out. Because anyone that says that this is not wrong and that this is a male-female thing, this is not a male-female thing. Rabel is not like an investigative reporter, he's a coach. He's supposed to win. Rossini should be being honest and truthful about how she gets this information, not potentially having uh an inside uh source here. Is it does it come up?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so I got a couple names here. So here are the New York Jets coaches from 2024 who previously coached for the Tennessee Titans. Is that right? Keith Carter. Uh-huh. Offensive line coach with the uh his role with the Jets was O line coach, joined in 2023. He was the O line coach with the Titans five four years prior to that. Tony Dews, remember him, Novak? So Todd Downing again. Todd Downing and Todd Downing. Okay. So those were the three names that Chat GPT uh so now Cardone asks, what does Todd Downing?
SPEAKER_04doing now. Out of curiosity, because I don't I really don't know what Todd Downing is doing right now. Is he a coach somewhere?
SPEAKER_00This could be a new segment on our pod here. I like this. The that's right.
SPEAKER_04Investigative reporting. Just curious because, you know.
SPEAKER_00As of 2025, Todd Downing, wide receivers coach for the New England Patriots.
SPEAKER_04Oh, what do you know? Todd Downing is coaching for Mike Vrabel, who also Todd Downing was the coach during all of that time, who was also previously with uh Mike Vrabel. So how are people not connecting the dots here? I'm not saying that Todd Downing did anything wrong, but you can't tell me that Todd Downing is not texting Mike Vrabel going, uh, this place is so effed up that the the owners is taking, you know, you know, ideas from his kid who's playing Madden. And you know, Salah is like taking the phones from all the coaches. This is out of control. And he's telling Rossini who's breaking the story. Tell me how that is not possibly what what goes down here in this whole world. And and like everyone is now making this a male female thing and I'm going to say this again. This is not a male female thing at all.
SPEAKER_00The only thing we're missing right now is a Scooby snack.
SPEAKER_02You've just solved the the like this is we need we need to do to rip his mask off and shut yeah like he's an old for you meddling kids. I would know that no that was to rip his mask off.
SPEAKER_04I was all I can tell you is at the time that this all came out I was embarrassed as hell I was pissed off. I I hate the fact that we're a joke organization and I was thinking how the hell is she getting this information to to to blow this up and blow this organization up? I think we have just uncovered it. So that's my uh that's my little take here. Well that's great. And you know from my standpoint I just thought Vrabel you know was doing this with Rossini to uh get brownie points with craft you know and that's the other thing too how does the Patriots continue to get away with this shit from deflate gate to spygate to the Waxhack with craft and and Aaron Hernandez they seemingly can't be ever called out well you just did I love it.
SPEAKER_02Damn right I did I think you're onto something I think I think we're gonna have to have yeah we're gonna have to have like a a segment you know Scott Scott Novak roving reporter you know or I'm gonna uncover all this shit at this point. He's already called the the NBA scandal from last year when the uh Mavericks were giving him the number one pick telling you I know nothing about anything else but this shit I I I have my eye on it. I can figure it out all right you guys got uh pet peeves tonight I'll start with uh Kurt O.
SPEAKER_00Yeah I got a uh a short one since um you know it's I've been doing some homework on who these players are early in the draft. Obviously the Giants are up there. So you you know when you when you can't quite remember exactly what these guys did there you know last year you you need to see like a couple highlight videos and those kinds of things so I like kind of just looking at those little 30 second highlight videos. My damn pet peeve though is like every time to watch a 30 second video I have to sit through a 30 second video of Lowe's home improvement on some socket wrench set or something or Liberty Mutual on how I need to bundle my insurance can't I just watch a can't you just do like give me at least at least three videos in a row without having to look at some you know like national retailer video that which is as long as the video clip itself I'm trying to go through a couple things before we came on earlier tonight and I can't get through them because I gotta watch I've I I know more about what's being sold at Lowe's home improvement than I do about Caleb Downs as a safety priced it's just so I figure it's not midseason right now I don't have a peeve about you know one of the official calls this week so I'm just trying to watch some video clips on a couple of these players and you can't get through them.
SPEAKER_04It takes like two hours Novak oh you want I'm going up yeah so again I have a pet peeve that has been burning me for the last couple of months if not more that really was ramped up this past weekend and I've texted you guys about this and I've sent even sent you pictures what is going on with these 30 somethings have to bring their fucking kids to bars and everything else like stop it. Like I've had enough like I can't take it like I go to this bar every now and then I'm I won't say because I don't want to get anyone in trouble and there's like a corner of the bar with it's like an oriental rug and some couches and these these like hipster 30 somethings commandeer this area with their kids and their their sippy cups and their goldfish and I'm like stay home go get your IPAs have a make a little bar in the back of your yard and bring your friends over there and do it there. Don't bring it to a bar just stop it. Enough I mean the other day I was at I was at the same bar and was sitting at a low top table and there was a high top table next to me. I go to the bathroom I come back and there's a baby's ass in my face when I sit down because they have to put the thing at the end of the table. Enough with the kids at these bars stop it. Just go away and last weekend I was at the Heritage in Hilton Head the golf thing strollers every what are you doing? It's a hundred degrees out you're bringing your kid out in a stroller to go to a golf tournament and these guys are lucky enough to hit a hundred thousand dollar shots and these kids are crying keep them home you guys did it did you bring your kids everywhere you didn't occasionally store but not all the time stay home just stay home with your fucking kids I don't need them around me.
SPEAKER_02And when my kids were little we went out to a restaurant we had a very brief window there. You know we ended up taking food to go so often because you're like well we're past the window you know kid starts melting down and box it up you know boxing it up taking it to the van or if my kid got out yeah if he started to act up we I shut it down man these parents they don't shut anything down they don't care like I was so I I I I would have been so uh uh nervous about uh hurting someone else's time when I'm next to them just yeah then my girls were great they didn't do anything wrong ever but I still wouldn't have risked it for the fear of like someone that is at this place trying to enjoy themselves and I'm ruining their time I I I now look for it now Novak because every time I go to a brewery there are little kids too it's like like like just out of the womb sometimes I mean like you're talking about like eight weeks old okay and I'm like what are you doing? What are you doing?
SPEAKER_04You can't stay home for a couple months at least what the hell's going on leave your beards and your tattoos and your backward hat and your stupid indie bands and your IPAs and stay at home just stop it.
SPEAKER_02I was on a plane the other day and you know halfway through the flight and it was it was it wasn't a long flight it was like two and a half hours a kid kept getting out of the seat and running up and down the aisle and and you know fair enough it it's running up and down the aisle but then he's stopping and he's pulling people's phones he's he's you know he's he they have their their their ipads out he's pulling on those and the mom's just looking out there going hey chatty ha ha and it's like get your kid and bring him the back to his fucking seat you know what's going on here get that under control man now so that's it yeah no that's a good one i i don't have a pet peeve so much as I have a a a a story so last week we went uptown and and uh we we uh go to the we we have the Blumenthal series of plays and musicals that we go to we have the season pass and and uh this week there was a play there but there was also a uh Zach Bryan concert going on too so we went to dinner in in well we went in what's called Loso now you know so uh so went to a great place so if you guys get a chance to check out State of Confusion very good restaurant so we went to State of Confusion great dinner we leave with an hour and 15 minutes before our show starts the venue is 1.2 miles away from where we had dinner we got to the to the venue about five minutes late after the performance started oh my god what so this was chaos we're driving there and you know like there's there's one intersection where the light will just keep going and people would be in the intersection so no one could keep going straight because of people turning left or are blocking everything. Finally police officers come they start directing traffic it still takes 10 minutes to get through that intersection then we got three more intersections to get to so that's just the first part of this I'm already ticked off that I've sat in traffic for an hour and 15 minutes or whatever to get to a play. We get to the play the play is billed as it's called stereophonic it's one Tony Awards four Tony Awards it's billed as a musical genius masterpiece it it's loosely based off of Fleetwood Mac recording the the the album rumors which is bullshit because in the play itself they they they they actually are recording like four different times and they start out as a band that's doing badly and by the midpoint they're they're you know superstars and I say the midpoint because you'll you'll find out that in a second so the play starts off with just dialogue and people yelling at each other for the first 20 minutes there's no music played there's no no songs nothing it's just people bitching about everything yelling at each other it was actually sort of like you like I looked over at Stephanie and she's got her fists clenched like she's like on on edge like what the hell is going on here why are why are these people you know being so confrontational the the music itself was decent but it was so freaking loud it was it was out of control and it was not based on on Fleetwood Mac you had you had a a a a guy from California in the band a girl from like Arizona a British lady and two British guys so first off Fleetwood Mac was four this was five um it was all about the the the recording of an album there was no storyline you didn't connect to the to the people you didn't connect to this this you know event so I mentioned you saturday night this was Saturday night the Dexter Lawrence trade happens so the lights come up after about an hour and a half and Steph and I are like this is how bad the play was we're like is it over is it intermission over? Is it yeah you know if you don't know if it's intermission or over that's how bad things are there's no story there if you if you can't tell so we get up I I look at my phone it's been blowing up and the people we were with they were in seats seats different from us they're like hey you guys want to leave first time I've ever left a movie or a play. We left an intermission and when we left it was like the end of a Knicks game people are spewing out of the exits like no I thought to myself well maybe I just didn't get this maybe other people did it was us and about 35 other people and everyone else was like what the fuck did I just watch that bad that was that bad we ended up going across the street and getting ice cream and we're sitting on a park bench enjoying our ice cream watching the NBA games at a local restaurant that were there right right next to us we're like this is fantastic this is this beats the last hour and a half of my life I can't get back so it's not really a pet peeve just guys I've never I've never had an experience of a play or a movie be that bad and I've seen some bad movies before but you don't you know you you're sitting in a movie sometimes and you're like I this has to get better or I I have to see the end of this yeah it's like me going to a jet game it's gotta get better and this is boring as hell what the hell are we doing? I gotta get the hell out of here so first time ever in my my life I've walked out of a theater before the show's over nice that's pretty wild so we got a lot of questions um you guys were excited to have us come back this week this uh this week to talk about the draft i i know it's been a few months but we got peacock corner we got my friend mike we got questions from from new people so peacock corner uh we already talked about this a bit but no way the giants go D with five and ten right I think there's a big possibility the Giants go D at both five and ten but that's I think we touched upon that yeah how soon in the draft will the Jets make the inevitably bad decision and take Ty Simpson they won't and if they do I I'm I'm over I'm out I'm out I'm done I'm gonna be throwing stuff I'm gonna be kicking stuff I'm gonna be screaming yelling and I will not be able to wait for this pod next week they they had better not take Ty Simpson I'm telling you I this is not Justin Field's level but it's it's next level the only way the only way I would be okay with Ty Simpson is if they took him in this with our second pick in the second round and someone will tell me this does not preclude us from taking a quarterback next year if he sucks.
SPEAKER_04So if you don't do not lock in with this guy. If he's great fine but a lot of conditions Novak I know I I don't want it I don't I don't like a short quarterback who's played 15 games it scares the fuck out of me.
SPEAKER_02I don't want this guy did did you hear that Ty Simpson was offered like an outrageous amount of NIL money to stay yeah because if he went in next year he'd be like the 12th quarterback in the third round so that's why I don't want him.
SPEAKER_04Exactly again just like we're talking about with Mendoza he's elevated because there's hardly any quarterbacks actually yes same thing with Carson Beck all these guys agreed agreed if the Jets want to take a quarterback in the fourth or fifth round as a project and try to get lightning in a bottle go for it. Sure I'm fine with that.
SPEAKER_02You guys think Carson Beck will ever be a starter no I do not absolutely not no I I don't know that he'd have been a backup I no I I do not see that at all there's a guy and and I I don't know his name I probably should fork no North Dakota State oh yeah that guy yeah guy guy looks like a beast I mean he looks like Josh Allen yeah yeah and and if Carson Wentz could could have I because didn't Carson Wentz go to North Dakota State he did but so did um who's the 49er guy that got traded to the Cowboys Lance Trey Lance was North Dakota State yeah he was yeah for some reason I thought he was he was somewhere different but uh all right the the last question I think we also touched upon but if if love is there at five do we take him um if love is there and downs and styles are gone I think we might take love but I don't see both downs and styles being gone so I I don't think we take love.
SPEAKER_00I don't think styles maybe I don't think downs would be gone by five and even with that Scott I still I don't know I think I still think I'd rather grab a receiver at at five than even over love just because of the position and our our our immediate need. But like I said earlier I think I'd be pissed if if uh we we grab love at at number five I think he's gonna be a great player I just don't think that's we we need to address so many other things.
SPEAKER_02Yeah my friend Mike asks uh Giants Jets first round picks any thoughts of trading them um I I think the Jets would want to trade out of number two the Giants I think would want to trade out of number 10 if they could go maybe down to 14 or so but I just don't see there being trading partners you need two to trade.
SPEAKER_04Yeah I for the Jets I I would absolutely trade out of two back to like four. So like if the Titans really want Jeremiah love or something like that and we can get a second round pick and move and move back two spots sure and then a 10 if the big three receivers um Tate Lemon and Dyson are gone I would want to trade back from 10 and get Cooper at like 22 or something like that.
SPEAKER_00So yes I would want that you also like where the Giants are I like I like our picks. I'm sorry um I don't think the Giants are going to be actively looking for to to move and now they'd have to now you don't know what kind of offers they may get but uh it would have to be a a pretty solid and and big time offer I think I'm I'm comfortable where they are right now. I I personally would rather not see them move from either five or ten. I like both of them.
SPEAKER_02And I do not want to see them trade with the Cowboys or the commanders.
SPEAKER_00No I just don't like trading in your own division. You just don't I something about that I just don't like doing that. Even if you you feel like you might get the better you know end of the of that I I just there's something about trading with teams in your own division that just I makes me nervous. It just makes me nervous.
SPEAKER_02He also asks well he says Zay Flowers thinks Harbaugh has a training camp that is too hard. You know what are our thoughts on that um guys look after the the run that the Giants have had I will take structure I will take a disciplinary action I will take a coach who says I want players to be here and holds them to it um I don't know what Zay Flower's work ethic is like I I don't I don't really care about this but for me I I just like every I've been impressed with everything about John Harbaugh I know we're gonna get a question in a minute here about about Harbaugh but I I like Harbaugh I I like I like his attitude I like his I like the things he says I think he's earned the right in in with his resume and what he's accomplished a Super Bowl champion playoffs you know his his we know his his resume so um yeah I'm certainly I'm not gonna listen to his flowers over what I think John Harbaugh is so uh that holds no freaking credibility whatsoever.
SPEAKER_00Who the fuck is Zay Flowers right? I mean come on so I'm not gonna hold that with any uh you know that's not gonna carry any weight at all.
SPEAKER_02So um and you know Koughlin was a hard ass right for we we that was well documented uh I think the year he finally calmed down we won we won uh you know Super Bowl that year but uh it was well documented how you know what a tight ass he is was but uh and then that was no harb could do he could run his uh his training camp however I think he sees fit so that's earned it the Giants needed this kind of guy I mean you had what Carter falling asleep in meetings neighbors popping off yep you got Dexter Lawrence bitching about everything like Burns was on the sidelines like looking like he didn't want to be anywhere you you need someone that's gonna command that kind of thing like and then he's gonna deal with his coffee boy uh Joe Shane like no you need you need harbaugh yeah I agree um who Mike also asks who's flying under the radar for the Jets or Giants to get in the draft um this this goes probably to deeper prospects than we normally go into there is there are a couple guys that I you know through the research I had to do for the the live stream last night that that I really do have in mind for the Giants one of them is a tackle out of Boston College Jude Bowery they could have him in a later round and and and another guy is a smaller school player he's a defensive tackle so he could take over for where uh Dex was but that's Caleb Proctor out of southeast Louisiana those are two guys that are on the radar i i'm not going to go into their twitch their fast twitch motors or their their loose hips or anything like that but uh those are guys I've identified it's a great question I just I don't know um I'd have to research and I haven't so I I I I'd like to answer that question with a little bit of uh information and somewhat uh knowledgeable but um when you once you like I said once you get past the the early rounds um don't know I mean you just named a couple guys Scott I don't know who you're talking about so I um if the Jets can't get the top three wide receivers which I've mentioned a couple times now I like this guy Kenyan Sadiq this big tight end out of I think it's tight end right yeah yep yeah um yes I know we already have mason taylor but you could go to two tight ends and that type of thing Frank Reich has done that in the past with with Indianapolis um so I do like him um the there's the um corner from Clemson who I think isn't is it not that has uh injury history yes yeah I like him a lot too uh I think that could sneak in the Jets really do need some defensive back help so I could see that and there's also the guy from Tennessee that has some um injury history that I could see maybe sliding quite a bit McCoy is it I want to say I think it's McCoy yeah I could see him sliding to the second round I like him and I personally I want to take a run at Drew Aller the quarterback from Penn State in round four if he's still around he's 6'5 like I said 6'5 230 I like taking a quarterback that maybe was projected two years ago to be like a top pick and then for whatever reason had a struggled right had a bad year had injury history James Franklin's not a great coach something happened maybe you catch lightning in a bottle so I would like to see
SPEAKER_04That for the Jets.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's funny because you know when I hear the talk about Ty Simpson, I look at Clemson's Cade Klubnick and I say the guy underachieved you know some of his career, but he's probably still a better prospect in my mind than Ty Simpson.
SPEAKER_04I think he's better than Ty Simpson, but I would not want anything to do with Cade Klubnick.
SPEAKER_02I'd probably take him over Aller, but I I know what you're saying. Yeah. Um this one's for Novak. So Mike also asks that there's been a lot of memes going around about this since the the team he's talking about has been on a ravenous losing streak lately. But should the Mets fire the GM, the manager, or both?
SPEAKER_04It's not the manager's fault. Um he was given this ridiculous team, which is so poorly constructed, so it's the GM's issue, but you gotta fire the manager too. So I would I would get rid of them both. The Mets suck ass. And here I am popping off a year ago about then there's a new sheriff in town in New York, and yet again I'm just got kicked in the nuts on another sport. Unbelievable.
SPEAKER_00I just meanwhile, you can have Aaron Boone if you want, because I despise him and the Yankees. All the Yankees do is you know, they sit in first place. They're they're they're already like they'll they'll be in the playoffs again, and I cannot stand Aaron Boone. It's just it's it's ridiculous when you think about you know the just the the state of these two teams.
SPEAKER_04Aaron Boone doesn't do anything. No, he's just a puppet.
SPEAKER_00I mean, let's be honest. No, he doesn't even make the lineup.
SPEAKER_02Analytics.
SPEAKER_00No. Analytics. You got jazz chisholm and doesn't know the fucking rules. Uh, you know, it just of it's just amazing. These it's just professional athletes. What a they're a miracle joke.
SPEAKER_02So we have, you know, we have Peacock who listens to us, uh, that's a Cowboys fan. We have Coons that's a Cowboys fan. We have a lot of non-giant listeners, and uh, we got Jessica and Dave Rask in in Minnesota. Uh, I think Dave's a Vikings fan, and and Jessica's a Broncos fan. So two non-giant fans, uh, and they've asked a slew of questions here. So uh will Joe Shane be fired after the draft? And you know, I I kick this around, you know, the Giants don't generally do that. So for for me, once they retain Shane, I think Shane is here till the end of the year. I whether I like that or agree with that or not, I I I think that's what's happening. I think Harbaugh's running the show. I thought it was very telling when Dexter Lawrence's agent, the way he worded it, he said, Well, we know we're not gonna talk to Joe Shane. And I told Dexter, do not talk to John Harbaugh, and he's not allowed to talk to me. So he they they they bypassed the entire power structure. Uh and and and the one thing was clear, we didn't get into this about the Dexter thing, but one thing here was clear Dexter didn't want to be a giant. They offered him money, he turned it down, um, then refused to to even negotiate again. So when they when Dexter, if he even tries to say, Well, I wanted to be a giant, bullshit. You didn't want to be a giant.
SPEAKER_00No, Shane's not going anywhere now. I mean, if they when they fired Dayball, uh, he would have he I I thought, you know, a lot of us thought he was going to be sent his uh you know packing back then, as soon as the season ended. So uh no, he's he's the GM for for better or for worse right now, but like you said, it's got it's it's Harbaugh's uh team right now, I think, in terms of personnel and such, and and Shane's just the uh the coffee boy. I mean that's been he's the moniker. That's how this is the moniker right now. So yeah.
SPEAKER_04That's how this thing went down. Yeah. Right? He goes to Harbaugh and he says he didn't want to play here. Well, you know what, Shane, get your coffee, get your little backpack, go in your room, get on the phones, make a bunch of calls, see if you can get a deal. Come back to me when you get the best deal you can get. He comes back and says, I can I can get a 10 from Cincinnati. Fine, you do that. That's good. This this is not a GM. He is a coffee boy, he is uh he does it whatever Harbaugh says, and if they have a bad year, guess who's gonna be the first fucking one out of this giant organization? Joe Shane. I'm laughing because I just love that nickname.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna I'm gonna use it constantly in the coffee boy's great.
SPEAKER_02I want Shane to stick around just for the comedy of Novak every week because he's he's dead on. He's dead on, you know, with the the the backpack thing. The more he talks about, the more I see the clips of him strapping on the backpack like he's going off to class or something. You know, it's uh you remember the press conference?
SPEAKER_04We have Jim Harbaugh, he's my new boss, and he's here. Get out of here, Joe Shane. He looked terrified.
SPEAKER_02He thought he was gonna hyperventilate.
SPEAKER_04Just so he just so just so he knows, uh Harbaugh Alexis coffee, a couple, two creams and one sugar. That's what I've heard. So that's all you need to know.
SPEAKER_02That's great. I think we touched upon the next one. The the question is, you know, we trade away decks. Um, so how how are we gonna replace that kind of productivity? I don't know if we replace that productivity. I think what you do is you just add talent and hope that the the two pieces you get at five and ten over time end up surpassing what what Dexter did. I I will say this the picks you get in the first round right now are cost controlled. So anyone you get uh in the first three, four rounds of this draft are gonna be cheaper than what you would pay Dex.
SPEAKER_00I I think Lawrence, you know, he was he was on the decline. I now I again he went up against a number of double teams and all that. We we know that, you know, but I think he's kind of living off of his um his you know achievements from a couple years ago, actually. I thought, you know, I I don't remember him making any plays last year at any point in any game. First of all, the Giants were, I mean, we we know how much you know they were just pretty forest on defense, but um not to say that again, I that he is he, you know, is he still very, very productive? Absolutely. I don't want to make it, you know, I don't want to dismiss the guy just because he's not wearing a giant uniform anymore. It's gonna be a loss, and we'll see. I uh you know, like I said, the only way to replace him right now, well, the only way we can replace him is through a draft, you know, through the draft, or if we pick up uh, you know, if we make some other kind of you know transaction somewhere somewhere down the road right now. But right now, he's we have we'll have to find out or figure out a way to replace him. The only way to do that is through the draft right now. That's the only vehicle mechanism we got right now.
SPEAKER_02Next question, when will we stop playing in New Jersey? I I have to say this. I in this, I mean, Novak, you can answer this too. You guys are in New Jersey. I I think if anyone moves, the Jets move before the Giants do. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_04I totally agree. I think once those casinos are built out near um City Fi City Field, um, I could see the Jets moving back there in five, six, seven, ten years, something like that. I I don't think the Giants are going anywhere. I do think the I can see the Jets moving out back to Queens.
SPEAKER_02Met Death goes back to Giants Stadium with the blue and red, and and the jets are hanging out by Queens again.
SPEAKER_04I would love that. The way it should be. Absolutely, it should. I don't want to be sharing a stadium. No, tired of being a little brother. Enough. It's deplorable. It is.
SPEAKER_00Giants are going nowhere. Uh not in our lifetime. They're they're not going anywhere. They're they're they're staying in New Jersey, maybe for forever. Yep. I don't know if they ever go back to New York. There's no way it's been since 1976. Where are you gonna put them?
SPEAKER_04Yeah, exactly. You can't you can't you can't fit them in Manhattan, you can't put them in Brooklyn. No, I mean the Queens and Flushing, where the Mets are, there's room out there. The Jets could build a stadium out there, no doubt.
SPEAKER_02Oh, we can't go back to the polo grounds.
unknownNo.
SPEAKER_02You know, the polo grounds, I I have no idea, honestly, I have no idea where it is. It's probably like in the middle of Broadway right now, or wherever Broadway is. I have no I don't know where the polo grounds was. Yeah, it'd be interesting to know because it was a damn large uh lot. Yeah. So the next question: John John Harbaugh was fired as as coach in in Baltimore, we all know that. But um, what would convince us that he would be better than the rest of the cast off since Tom Coughlin? Um guys, I you know, I've talked about this with you, but since day one in that press conference, John Harbaugh commands the room. What he says, I believe. Uh you know, when it when it came to to Macadoche and his in his two big suit, or or you know, even what even when it came down to Dable, I mean, those guys talked decently, but they don't have the pedigree and the history behind them like Harbaugh does. And when Harbaugh talks, he he calls people out by name. He he goes through, he, he, he, he commands the room. He says, This, I want guys that want to be here. You know, he talks about his dad and the legacy his dad had from coaching. He talks about his brother and and and the camaraderie they have. It just it's a different feel to me. It does feel actually a lot like Coughlin. When Coughlin came in, Coughlin was an established coach that led Jacksonville to uh an AFC championship game. And you know, he he he took a brief respite and went went back to college, but I I feel that that there's a different feel here now than there has been from the other coaches that were here.
SPEAKER_00Well, McAdosh, Schirmer, Judge, Dayball. Do I have to name these people? I mean, we're trying to compare John Harbaugh to what that list of names. This isn't even worth analyzing. I mean, it's there is you know, you could have it doesn't even this isn't even comp compare to what we've just dealt with since since the Coughlin era. So um guys won Super Bowls, he's he's been a div you know division champions left and right. Harbaugh is uh coaching royalty coming in here. So um he's gonna have an immediate impact. Those other clowns uh that we've had the last uh whatever 12 plus years, uh those guys, because here's the thing. Where have those have those guys signed on anywhere else as a head coach? No, they haven't, right? So and they won't. Dable's not gonna get another head coaching job in this league again. He's not. So that's all you need to know. When a guy, you know, the the last head coaching job has been with the Giants of those clowns. That's it. So that tells you all you need to know is that these guys are not ever getting hired again as a head coach, certainly not in the NFL.
SPEAKER_04It it couldn't be a better hire for the Giants because think about it. Like, there's something about coming from the Ravens, which is very different. If you came, you had this like great coach that came from like the 49ers or the Steelers or the Cowboys or you know, one of these like historically great franchises. Like the Ravens, who cares about the fucking Ravens? No one cares about the Ravens, and on top of the fact, he's not a defensive or an offensive coach, he's a special teams coach. It's exactly what the Giants needed. I mean, you couldn't have scripted a better scenario for the Giants. I hate it, I'm jealous, but this is the perfect guy for the Giants.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And you know, we didn't mention anything about the the free agent acquisitions the Giants have made, whether it's Isaiah Likely or the pot the punter or or you know, we have a new. We have a new kicker now.
SPEAKER_00Scottish hammer, gone.
SPEAKER_02Goodbye. You think about this. We've we've upgraded several positions, many with Ravens, but but outside of Ravens too. I mean, we we just are upgrading positions, especially on the special team. So that's that's a great point, Novek. Um next question is basically for me. So my last name is Cost. Um, I am Italian, I'm 100% Italian. And the uh the question is are you part of a mob family? Is Cost short for Costa? And and it is not, but it's it's not too far off. So when when my family came across to, I guess it would be Ellis Island, um, the the the the surname was Cher Costa, it was uh S-I-R-C-O-S-T-A. And and for the the purposes of of coming in the United States, we we we shortened it to cost, and we've been cost ever since. No, no mob, not no mob linkage that I know of, at least none that I'm benefiting from, um, or or I guess suffering from, if I'm not haven't spent time for racketeering or anything like that. So uh no.
SPEAKER_04Well, I'll just say this Cardone and I have much more probable connections to the mob than uh than you for the town we grew up in, which was riddled with mafia connections, and we won't mention the names, right? Because for fear of our lives, but trust me, we had friends that had connections there.
SPEAKER_02Did you ever have anyone disappear that you knew?
SPEAKER_04I'm not gonna go into any discussion about any of this. Cardone knows exactly what I'm saying. Yeah, you can't.
SPEAKER_02So Cardone can chime in on this next question, and this is the last question of the night, but do you call it Sunday sauce or Sunday gravy?
SPEAKER_03Oh, sauce.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. And that's the one it that actually is a pet peeve of mine. As an Italian American, Sunday gravy is not such a thing. My my my grandparents are straight from Italy, they never heard the term gravy at all. They they always it was Sunday sauce. They made the my my grandmother made the sauce Friday. She started putting the meat in it, she simmered it, she'd put it downstairs in the refrigerator and then bring it back out on Sunday, and it had the most rich flavor possible. It's going over pasta. Who puts gravy on pasta? You put sauce on pasta.
SPEAKER_00Sauce goes on pasta, and like you said, it's got its simmers all day in a gigantic pot the size of a Gatorade bucket on top of the stove. And gravy is what goes on your fucking mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving. That's you know, that's that's gravy. It's brown, goes on potatoes. Sauce is you know, red, marinara, you know, like whatever, however, what kind of whatever spices you want to add to it, whatnot. No, it's it's Sunday sauce. Come on, clean it up.
SPEAKER_02There were things that bristled like my my grandparents, even. And this was back. I mean, you're talking about in the 70s when the godfather was row, you know, like every time they'd say like gabagul or something like that. I always knew it as Capacola, you know. You never heard it as gabagul and stuff like that, or matts. It was always mozzarella, no one ever said matts. And it for me, the the Sunday sauce and the Sunday gravy is the same, the same kind of discussion. I mean, my grandmother would chop up, she would have pork chops in the sauce, sausage in the sauce, meatballs in the sauce. And as a kid, I just remember loving dipping in there and just getting the ladle, and whatever came out and went on my spaghetti, it was fantastic. The pork chops would melt in your mouth, the you know, the meatballs are fantastic, the sausage was was was out of this world. I I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah. I'm not Italian, so Sunday sauce in my house was like uh a bloody merry and then a rum and coke with my old man, but right on when the jets were on, you had to get hammered to watch the jets.
SPEAKER_02So you know, I I laughed about the live stream going two and a half hours. We've gone an hour and a half with with little content whatsoever, but we did we did go through the draft prospects tonight. You guys got anything else?
SPEAKER_04I don't know my notes. I don't I don't think I do. No, I think we we covered a lot of it. I'm all I can say is I'm excited about this draft. It's gonna be a lot of fun um with the Jets and Giants having multiple picks, and you know it's kind of more fun when you don't know how it's all gonna play out. And I think after one, I don't think there's I don't even know who the Jets are taking it to. I have no idea. I think Belly, but I have no idea.
SPEAKER_02This might be the first year, too, that number one pick, uh there's been others, but but the number one pick is not in question at all. You know who the Raiders are. The Jets are on the clock.
SPEAKER_00I mean, let's be honest. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. How the funny thing will be how long it takes the Raiders to make that pick. I think it's a lot of things.
SPEAKER_04Did it even yeah. How long are how here's the question? How long is it gonna take us to be annoyed by the draft? Oh, I'll I'll be annoyed at the draft.
SPEAKER_02Five minutes, two minutes before it starts, because you're gonna have all that bullshit with the the the band playing, you're gonna you're gonna introduce like the uh well they they always they always introduce these these these these groups and things like that beforehand. It's like what the hell is that?
SPEAKER_00When they show the pockets of each fan base, you know what I mean? Like they're all kind of like they all have their own little section, like they're all roped off with each other, you know, like they're gonna that it's that's gonna piss me off.
SPEAKER_02This is in Pittsburgh, right?
SPEAKER_04It's in Pittsburgh. So when when the Ravens, Bengals, and Browns pick, Goodell's gonna walk out with like a you know, you know, a cancer kit or something like that. Like that's exactly what's gonna happen. Because he doesn't want to get because he knows that he's gonna get booed.
SPEAKER_00Even I'm I'm tired of Goodell being booed, even like it's just it's boring.
SPEAKER_04Let him pick the make the pick and just move on.
SPEAKER_00People don't even know why they're booing, they don't even know. Like, let me just go with the herd here. Let me just let me just oh wow, the crowd's booing. Oh, it's good. Yeah, boo. What are you booing? Well, like what? Why?
SPEAKER_04We're no we're as annoyed about the NFL too uh in a lot of things. Am I gonna boo Godell now? We still love the sport, we love the game. Like, why does it matter?
SPEAKER_02Stop it. So, guys, from a house cleaning standpoint, we will be back on Sunday night this year this week to go over the draft results. Um, we'll see if there's any any jets picked with uh with with odd names that I could make fun of, but uh we will I'm sure we will. We will uh we'll we'll delve into those picks the best that we can from what we know. Uh I'm sure the sixth and seventh rounders we're have no idea about, but uh I I think it's gonna be a wild night tomorrow night. I'm look I'm looking forward. It's one of the drafts I'm looking forward to, not just because the the Giants have two picks, but I know I'm gonna be sitting there watching to see do the Giants jump back into the back of half of the first round? Do they trade down? You know, are people gonna be moving up and down? I think it's gonna be fantastic.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. No, there's always at least one something, there's always something that shocks you, I think. Um every year. So I I don't think tomorrow will be any different. Agreed. Yeah boys, kick it off season seven in style. That's it. Right on have Mike back on Sunday. Yep, we'll get Mike on Sunday.
SPEAKER_02All right, boys.
SPEAKER_00All right, guys. See ya. We'll see ya.
