Have You Learned Contentment (Or Apathy)?

Erica Pyle Episode 71

#071// There have been times when I've said I was content, but -- really -- I was apathetic. Have you ever been there? Someone asks you about a situation or a relationship, and you realize you aren't triggered or overly emotional about it anymore. Maybe you think to yourself, "Wow. I feel nothing about this. This is good." Perhaps, like I did, you conclude: "This is contentment." But deep down inside something isn't sitting right. And the more you think about it, those feelings start to back up bubble again, so you push them back down and keep on moving.

That's not contentment, friend. That's apathy -- a cerebral position of indifference born out of a desire to disconnect from the source of pain and/or discomfort. Apathy is a tricky coping mechanism; one that will keep you disconnected from real relationships and even from healing. Apathy will keep robbing from you as it keeps you unaware there is a better way to find joy in the midst of the most difficult of situations.

On this episode of The Positioned to Prosper podcast, we're digging into the difference between real contentment and its counterfeit -- apathy -- and discussing what it takes to turn down apathy in favor of learning how to be truly content in any circumstance. Are you ready? Then grab your Bible, your journal and a pen, and . . . Let's Go!
