Lisa Campion is what happens when a psychic kid grows up and decides the world needs way more healers and way less hiding.
In this episode of Reiki from the Farm™, I sit down with best-selling author and psychic counselor Lisa Campion to explore the powerful intersection of intuition and energy healing through Psychic Reiki.
We talk about what it really means to bring your psychic abilities into your Reiki practice, how Reiki naturally opens intuitive channels, and why so many practitioners hold themselves back from trusting what they receive. Lisa shares her grounded, real-world approach to psychic development, while we both speak candidly about fear, visibility, and stepping fully into your gifts.
This conversation is an invitation to stop second-guessing yourself and start working in true partnership with Reiki—where your intuition is not separate from the practice, but part of it.

PamI'm so excited to have you here. I your book psychic Reiki. I know you've written several books, but the Art of Psychic Reiki really stood out to me and I, it's been on my Kindle for a while. I ha I have to admit I haven't got all the way through it. But it's one of those ones that I like to get back to and, I just, I'm so glad that you're here. You are the author of the number one bestselling book, the Art of Psychic Reiki, and many other books, including Energy Healing for Empaths, awakening Your Psychic Abilities, and The Psychic Awakening Journal. You're also a psychic counselor, a Reiki master teacher. With over 30 years of experience, you specialize in training emerging psychics, empaths, and healers to fully step into their gifts. Because we have this in common, we both think the world needs as many healers as it can get especially right now. And you were so kind. You've given us a free gift in the podcast notes called Energy Management for Empaths, Lisa. All of my students are on paths, and I think that's it's because I, Reiki was a management tool for me as an empath myself. So I'm just delighted that you're here.
LisaOh, thank you so much for having me on your podcast. I'm thrilled to be here.
PamBefore we go too far in, I just wanna let people know of some of the things that we have coming up. Unfortunately we had to cancel the Connecticut healthcare Reiki. Tracy had a, an injury and so we're going to, we are going to be teaching in person and online here at the farm in June. In April, I have a full lineup of animal commun of psychic development courses, actually with animal communication, one and two, professional practitioner, level three and master teacher. I also have. Later in April, the 25th to the 29th Yasui Holy Fire level one and two in master classes in the following week, May 2nd. Over a weekend I have ICRT animal Reiki level one and two. And then over the next two weeks, over four evenings, I've got the Animal Reiki master training. The horse card decks are coming along. And of course, if any of you still wish to join us for the our Reiki business courses, we've got start your Reiki business for people just starting out and grow your Reiki business. My daughter and I are putting our MBAs to work for you because even with MBAs and business experience, it took a lot to figure out how to put business practices together with Reiki, and we would just really wanna save you some time and effort and money and steps. So would love to have you join us for any of that. Lisa, what do you have coming up in your world?
LisaI have my psychic Reiki courses that are always going on my website. I teach online mostly these days, and I have psychic development classes from beginner, intermediate, to advanced classes. I love. Helping people go pro. So if you wanna be a professional psychic, heal I've got you. Yeah. And and that's really what I like to do is really mentor people that are have undergoing a psychic awakening, so you know what happens because you know what happens, you take a little Reiki and your psychic pops open. And that might be a good time to, to do a little work on that. That's really what I like to do the best.
PamI love that, and yes I love how you put it. You take a little Reiki and your psychic pops open. I'm working on a book right now called The Accidental Animal Communicator.
LisaYou can put me in that category, right? You're totally good
Pambecause I took a little Reiki course and my psychic popped open.
LisaI am right with you because years ago, one of my clients is like, can you talk to animals? And I'm like, I don't know. Let's find out. And I guess I can,
Pamyes. It's the same pathway. And that is, it is so funny. It is what I teach. And so often my own students will say, where do I learn about, psychic? And I refer to your book, I refer to my colleague Jules Davies. And one day somebody said, what about your classes, your animal communication courses? I was like, oh, Uhhuh,
Lisawhich is where I send my people when they want animal Reiki, by the way, I send them straight to you. 'cause I don't teach that.
PamOh thank you. And it does, and then the animal communication side, it does pop out. Psychic awareness. So I was like, oh yeah, that is a psychic awareness course. What do you know? Lisa, tell us a little bit about you. How did you discover Reiki and when did, like intuition tie into it and start playing such a big role for you? Tell us about that.
LisaSure. It actually happened the other way around. So I started my life as a psychic, and I was one of those, I was born in the sixties, just outside Boston, and I was one of those icy dead people kids, which is very, was very uncool to do. It's
Pamunnerving.
LisaYeah, it was very like unpopular. It was something that I couldn't really talk about. And not only was I seeing dead people, but I was also seeing colors around people, feeling energy, seeing angels, seeing shadow spirits, knowing things. And it was, I spent a lot of my, and of course this is Murphy's Law. I grew up in a super duper du haunted house and that was just the way that works. But the psych, I
Pamdon't think it's an accident actually.
LisaOkay. The psychic child in the h most haunted room of the super haunted house. And I just spent a lot of my childhood trying to figure out what was going on. If you think about sixties and seventies, no. This conversation was not happening. No. There were no books in the library. There was no psychics on tv, there was no internet. So there was just me trying to figure out what was going on, how to manage my gifts, how to pretend to be normal in public, and just get through the day. Fortunately for me, my parents were hippies, so we did like that
Pamis fortunate.
LisaYeah. I was so lucky. Transcendental meditation when I was 10. Wow. Because that's what you did when you were a hippie in 1974. And they did the Silva Method, when I was in high school, I had some really incredible luck with my training. And then I went to university in the eighties and it was the dawn of the new age. Hallelujah. And all of a sudden there was like, then that's when there were books and psychics and new age bookstores and training, proper trainings. And that's also about the time that I started working. I started working as a professional psychic when I was 19.
PamWow.
LisaI don't know why. You just think you can do things when you're 19, so you do them, that's just what I did. And I really quickly learned I didn't have enough skills. So I, after I finished university, I went back to school and studied to be a therapist and for a long time, combine those two things. And then in 1999 is when I learned Reiki. I heard about Reiki because I was starting to see. Energy in my psychic readings and I needed a way to understand and access people's energy field. And even back then in 1999, Reiki was still pretty fringe. It was still pretty out there.
PamListen, it was fringe when I started teaching it in 2011, so I can't imagine what it was in 2000 or in 1999.
LisaI know. That was 27 years ago and I always remember, 'cause it was the year my daughter was born and she's 27 now. That, that's it. And then I really was working for a long time, combining all three of them. So I would work, it had a Reiki table in my office and my clients would get on the table and I was doing Reiki really in support of the psychic readings that I was doing. But also, that's about the time that I started teaching Reiki. So I've been teaching Reikis for that long and. Yeah, that's hard. So I came into it opposite, the opposite way that most people do. Psychic first, Reiki second.
PamThat's incredible. I really relate, we're a couple of years apart, but I was born in 68 and, so growing up in a time when my mother used to say, Pam, you can't, like I, I had the gift of pre cognizance and I would see things before they would happen, and my mother would say, and she would say this to protect me. Pam, you can't tell people that they're gonna lock you up. And she wasn't being critical. She was literally I was in a very conservative,
Lisait was just the truth
Pamhometown and it was the truth. And, and I also did see, I didn't see the energy of the auras, but I did see spirit attachments. I did see energies like that. Wow. And that was very unnerving. So at 12 years old, at 10 years old, I realized, wait, other people aren't seeing this. I didn't know it was at 10 years old. Wow. When somebody passed away. And everybody was shocked. And I thought, didn't they know? This was going to happen, and I realized they didn't. And for a couple of years, from 10 to 12, I grappled with what am I supposed to do with this? There was no guidance. Like you said, there was no guidance, nothing. And finally it was like, I'm just shutting it down. Oh. But it was, it's hard on your body. That's, I it is. I immediately became anorexic and And yeah, so I'm really grateful that when Reiki came along, it opened it back up. But I have to admit that it wasn't natural for me. I fought it for a little while.
LisaThat's very common. I think it's such a common experience that we have bad experiences when we're children. We see things we are uncomfortable seeing, or our parents give us a SmackDown because they don't like it. It makes other people uncomfortable. I was just lucky my parents didn't drive me to the church and throw holy water on me, which definitely happens to some people, and, yeah. And I think then often, like when I'm working with people, adults who are reestablishing their psychic connection, we have to work through some childhood PTSD.
PamYeah.
LisaThat they had around their gifts or, and it, and also for the empath community, I was also an empath of course. And that wasn't a word, that wasn't a part of our vocabulary until the nineties. And even then, that was the highly sensitive person concept came out, so I think that, we can have a little trauma around being sensitive, being psychic, feeling the call to be a healer. I knew I was gonna be a psychic from the time I was 12, and I stu I snuck into the movies. My parents didn't want me to go, but I went with my friend to see the movie Poltergeist.
PamOh my gosh. That movie scared the crap out of me because I could see those things and
LisaOh, Heki, yes it did. And, but there's this moment where there's a professional psychic. And I'm like, you can do that. I'm gonna do that. And that was it. That's when I decided I was gonna be a professional psychic, and she gives this little story about what ghosts are and why they get stuck. And I was like, oh my gosh. Somebody knows something. And I part of created like this drive to watch every paranormal movie I could get my hands on just because I was trying to learn. What the Heki was going on. I got my early ch, my early education from Hollywood. It was, I say it was about 50% accurate and 50% crazy Hollywood nonsense. I was gonna
Pamsay, I don't know if I'd give it 50% accurate.
LisaYeah. Maybe not
Pam20% accurate.
LisaYeah. Maybe.
PamDo you know, I just have to tell you you're bringing back memories for me. I saw the movie Poltergeist when I was at a church. We were fasting, it was 48 hour fast. Oh wow. We were fasting for to send money to help with the drought Sei situation in Africa. And it was the, it was our CGIT Canadian girls in training. So imagine we were like 20 some. Teenage girls young girls watching the movie Poltergeist when we were fasting and starving,
Lisahow to torture the psychics. I think that's really it.
PamAnd I don't remember the psychic in that movie. Oh, gosh. So now I'm, as much
as
Lisashe made a big impression on me,
Pamit, that movie scared me so much. She did on me too, but I think it was the opposite for me. I think for me it was like, yep, keeping these, keeping this shut down until I'm in my forties, I think until Reiki opened it up. Lisa, that is just what a, an interesting background. Tell me about writing the Art of Psychic Reiki and all of your books, really, but I just I find that book fascinating. Tell me a little bit about that. What, what caused you to do that? What did you experience as you were writing it? Just all of it.
LisaI've al I always knew I wanted to write, I was a writer. I was a mag, I was a magazine article writer, a freelancer, and I just knew I had a book in me. I'm actually working on my fifth book right now. I can't even believe it, but
Pamamazing.
LisaI know it's coming out in November, but I always knew I had it and one day I was teaching, so I was teaching Reiki and psychic development kind of side by side, and what I noticed was that people would take my Reiki classes and they would take my psychic development classes and vice versa, they were. I was teaching them together. And I had this, a very talented student who came to me for for Reiki classes. And she told me that she. She had start, started studying Reiki and what happened was her, it really opened her psychic ability. So she said she had dead people walking through her room and she was seeing things and she was a little freaked out by it. And she went to her Reiki teacher and her Reiki teacher just told her to cut it out. That wasn't Reiki. What? Yeah. That wasn't Reiki, that wasn't Canon. That wasn't, part of it. And she didn't know what to do and she just said, stop doing that and I don't wanna talk about it.
PamWow.
LisaThat's shame. I know, and I hear, actually hear that story quite often even today. But the, I was like, oh my gosh, that's so sad. And it's, it stopped her from doing Reiki, like she dropped it for a couple of years until she found me. 'cause I was teaching them together, yeah. And it was her story really, that motivated me. 'cause I was like how many other people is that happening to. And
PamYeah.
LisaAnd all the people that I were, that I was teaching, because to me, Reiki and psychic intuition really go hand in hand. Yeah, their, your psychic ability, your intuitive ability is a beautiful tool for your toolkit as a healer. Like if we can access that, if we can put it at our fingertips, if we can, manage it so that it's we're we have control of it, then it's a beautiful tool we can add into our healings. It just makes our healings better. We can serve our clients, we can help more. We can use it for ourselves. So to me, they went together really like peanut butter and jelly. But it was, it caused a bit of a splash. It came out in 2018. It sold, I think it sold like 50,000 copies. It's quite wow. Yeah. It's quite popular and
PamI love it.
LisaYeah. And you're a beautiful
Pamwriter.
LisaThank you. Still, a lot of people tell me they that they don't get support from their Reiki teachers in their Yeah. When that happens. I hear it quite often. And I've had some static from people, Reiki teacher, other Reiki teachers, saying that it waters down the Reiki training or that it's not traditional. I don't know. But I'm glad, I'm sorry. Glad I it to hear. Yeah. I'm glad I did it and I feel I, I stand by it as a really powerful combination and I'm just happy that I found something that really people needed and still need. That's really how it came about.
PamI am really happy you did it too. It's an excellent book. You're a beautiful writer. And yeah this book stood out to me for a long time. I'm just so surprised to hear that because that. I don't know. It just, it must be different teachings because I know that, I like to talk about the fact that look, Reiki often opens up your psychic abilities. I have a lot of people that had especially frontal lobe headaches in class and sometimes rear lobe headaches, but mostly frontal lobe. And we pretty much always know that's simply the intuition that might've been closed down, opening back up. And so I always talk about what that might look like, and I let people know that they're in charge of their intuition and that they get to control the pace and they, they get to decide. And because it happens. Yeah that's why the accidental animal communicator, because as much as I deliberately kept the intuition closed down once I had Reiki it just, it said Your life will be better. If you open this, the guidance was, your life will be better if you open this up. And man, was it ever right. So
Lisayeah. So beautiful. I always say that Reiki yoga and meditation are the three gateways to opening our psychic ability, and also the three gateways to larger spiritual growth, and spiritual development. When people say they, they started, they start a spiritual journey, psychic development is often a part of it. And
Pamyeah,
Lisamaybe they're they're meditating, they're doing a yoga teacher training, maybe they're doing plant medicine. I work a lot with people whose psychics have opened in up some a plant medicine journey.
PamYeah.
LisaAnd then all these things that we do that drive us toward, on our spiritual journey, I really feel like psychic skills and tuition is a byproduct of spiritual growth. So when we step on the spiritual pathway, if you have a natural psychic ability, which really everybody does it's going to expand. It's going to be something that we access. And it is to me a beautiful thing because I feel like its primary purpose is to help us navigate our own life. And though weirder and crazier the outer world gets, the more handy it is to have your intuition leading you on your own path. And it's also really useful for helping other people, there are times when you're, you just open your mouth and your angel speaks through you and says something exactly that the person needed to hear. And that's happens every single day, I'm sure. And to so many of us. So to me, there's such benefit, and especially in these times when we really like, I think need to align to our highest self, to our soul self. And the more soul alignment we have, the just clearer our easier our lives are.
PamI love that. And you're right, that is for my sessions, that is a typical session is me just listening in the energy and bringing in or bringing through what comes through. And it's so powerful when it is so individual like that. Like it's, yeah. I love that. How would you define psychic Reiki? I know you've probably spent a fair bit of time thinking about this.
LisaI just think it's my own personal brand of psychic development plus Reiki training,
Pamokay.
LisaIt's adding in and like level one, I'm teaching energy management skills. What do you do if you're an empath? How do you not absorb the energy that you're picking up from, even when you're in a session? And how do we tap into our intuition in Reiki too? I teach more like how do we connect with our Reiki guides? Who are Reiki guides? What are they doing? And what do you do if you see somebody's dead granny in the session or that, that can mediumship happens? Accidental mediumship is also something that, that happens quite frequently, I think can be rurally startling for people, right? Yes. Yep. And. And frightening and the, until we learn how to okay, this is actually a good thing, and lean into it a little bit. So that's really, I think how I define it. It's that combination of Reiki training plus psychic development.
PamI love that. Listen, Lisa, I, I identify as an empath. Most of the people that study with me identify as an empath. One of the biggest things Reiki helped me do was manage my empathy. And it went from being, almost a curse or a problem to being a tremendous gift. How do you think or what does it mean to work with it rather than be overwhelmed with by it? And how do you think people get there?
LisaI think it's all about energy management, energy hygiene and energy management basics. And it does feel like a curse. It will leave you like on the couch with your cat, watching Netflix, because anything else is gonna blow your circuits going to the grocery store, getting on an airplane or doing the work you're called to do, can be really something. Until we learn how to manage and protect our energy, then we're, we feel, can feel quite victimized by our sensitivity. And we, that's the experience. It's for real. When we learn how to manage our energy, that's when we can move through the world masterfully, go into the hospital and do hospice work or work with, all whatever it is that we're doing with our Reiki and our lives as healers, or even our lives as humans. We, my goal for everybody is to move around the world masterfully to understand that your empathy or empathic nature is your greatest superpower. And especially for healers, because it's like. Having a built in MRI X-ray machine built right into you is a great diagnostic tool for healers. You get your hands on your Reiki people and you'll feel what you know, you feel, you what's happening on them on every level. And that's what it's meant for that. Then we can use it and it's not hard to do energy management. We have to do it consistently, but it's not a difficult process.
PamI agree with you. And I think that once, Reiki helped me clear that large volume that was, that was attached to me or connected with me, then just keeping it clear was the big thing. And when you say human, MRI, that's actually the images I get when I describe the images. Sometimes people say, that's exactly what showed up on my MRI, it looked exactly like what you're describing. Wow. And you're right, it does turn what was heavy and difficult into your biggest gift. But I love how you said not be victimized by it. I think that's really important. I yeah, I pulled that out. Why do you think so many sensitive people doubt or fear their gifts and, how can we shift so that we embrace them and work with them instead?
LisaI think that we're sadly live in a society that doesn't really value or care about how we feel. Like we're just told to suck it up and quit feeling all that, and you're way too sensitive. And and that's sad to me because so much of our guidance, so much of our intuition, so much of our skill as a healer, I'd be a pretty terrible therapist if I didn't have any feelings, or understand my feelings or understand and have compassion for other people's feelings, so I think we have to come to the point where we see our emotions as powerful, a powerful g like internal GPS. It also means that we need to learn how to manage our emotions, especially in the book that I wrote, energy Healing for Empaths is really all about that. How do we manage our emotions so that we're not flooded, we're not, buried under other people's emotions and that we know how to process our emotions in the moment when they rise up inside of us. And that's a skill I wish everybody, if everybody could learn emotional management and nervous system regulation, I think we live in a different world. And that's actually what my fifth book is about. It's called Sacred Reparenting. It's a book about inner child work.
PamWow.
LisaAnd the focus is those things, emotional regulation, nervous system regulation. And I think when we have those things, then we can live in the flow of our feelings. We can live, we can see them as like how your own soul speaks to you. How we get guidance. And I think it's just. On our feelings are inconvenient for other people, and especially when they're unmanaged, when we don't know how to manage them ourselves, and they're a bit floody, right? Then it, it can really be a problem.
PamDo you know I agree. And I, it's so funny because we've come to so many of the same conclusions or similar conclusions and came from a slightly different angle and I began teaching some of Linda Khanna who wrote the DA of equ, I began teaching some of her deeper horse work, and it was all around emotional intelligence. And that the horses basically would mirror even when we weren't sure what emotions we were feeling like, yeah. It was helping us identify the emotions and then the emotions are basically a way that our subconscious and other parts of ourselves that we, that are not conscious, that are not part of our conscious mind. It's a way to communicate with us and give us information. And when you can interpret that, understand that, like you said, you can move through the emotions. They're no longer.
LisaDo you know Laura, do you know Sharon and Laura Wilsey? Sharon Wilsey rode the horse?
PamI do. I met them, yes. Yeah,
Lisashe's a very good friend of mine and she's my original Reiki teacher.
PamWhat I know Sharon very well. Yeah.
LisaYeah. She's my original Reiki teacher back in 1999. She was the first person that taught me Reiki. She's a good friend of mine.
PamShe and I have been speakers at a pretty a fairly large horse event called the Equine Affair in Massachusetts.
LisaYes.
PamAnd so we always, and we have so much in common. I usually attend her sessions. She attends mine and we normally
Lisatime you see her terrorize at high,
PamI'll do, we normally try to talk in between, but I'll admit I took a couple of years off to run politically. I've not been down to speak down there in, in a few years now, so That's
Lisaso funny. Shes my Reiki my or original Reiki teacher.
PamI love her, she and her work. And that's really cool. And that of course she is that makes sense. You talked about emotional regulation and how, do you wanna share a bit of that? I know that's gonna be in your book. And so how do you suggest that people use their emotions for information and flow through them? Is there anything that you can share with us on that?
LisaLike a really big difference between our reactive emotions and our soul level emotions, and when we have reactive emotions, it's like you fight or flight. And it's for, they're very chemical like adrenaline and cortisol. And these are the emotions we need to let, let flow through our nervous system and not act out or express 'cause otherwise it's road rage or panic attacks or, these kinds of things that we need. And that's when we go into nervous system regulation. How do we regulate our nervous system when they're, we're in the middle of road rage or panic? Then we have soul feelings. And soul feelings are like the deep, non-reactive, emotions that arise in us because it's information, it's guidance, right? And we can always tell the difference because reactive feelings feel terrible, it doesn't, they don't feel good. And soul feelings feel good even when they're gnarly, even when they're gritty, even when it's deep like grief, right? So soul feelings we need to express in some way. Maybe it's in a journal. I use a very simple breathing practice of just getting very grounded, breathing up for my tailbone breathing. Quite, you'll see me like standing in a corner by myself, huffing and puffing for a few minutes while I just, I'm getting, letting the chemical, whatever reactivity move outta my body and being like, all right, what's really going on here? But I think like 15 minute, I call it 15 minutes of feeling time every day. Maybe that's in your journal. Maybe you're doing some EFT or tapping, maybe you're meditating, but really taking that time especially as empaths. 'cause we're super emotional all the time, right? If we're not taking time to attend to our feelings on the daily, they build up and they get, then you, it's like you open the closet and everything avalanche is out. We wanna make sure that doesn't happen by just attending to them with so much love and compassion in, on a regular basis.
PamThat is so cool. I love that. And in fact, I, again, I'm realizing the similarities because with working with horses, you can't go into fight or flight. Or you will push them into fight or flight.
LisaRight?
PamAnd they're 1200 pounds with the fastest reaction times on the planet. So we don't want, we don't want them in fight or flight. And so that's exactly what I do, is I teach my students three deep breaths. Anytime you're triggered, you need to take three deep breaths because there's only so much energy before there's an explosion. We, if your horse is at an eight and you need to be down at a two because if your horse is at an eight and you're also at an eight, it's going to explode.
LisaI was a super duper horsey girl, four H
Pamme. Oh
Lisayeah.
PamI was
Lisaforeign leader my own, I never had my own, but that's what I did. And I feel like I was in all my free time until I was about. 16, and then I switched to martial arts, but
PamOkay.
LisaI I spent a lot of time with horses and I do feel like that was such a good training for me as a sidekick and for an empath. I was definitely one of those. I'm gonna talk to the horses, I'm gonna communicate with them. And I was just like, it was the Jedi mind trick, that I was doing. But but I think horse work is so great for empath training and psychic training.
PamOh, I think you're right. Because they are both empathic and psychic.
LisaYeah.
PamAnd very much and yeah, they can lead us. So it just, I love this that just the similarities.
LisaRol I know was somehow separated at birth. Were you had that experience?
PamI think so. Oh my gosh. That's fantastic. You've been talking about grounding, clearing, protecting energy. Why is this so important for healers? What are your thoughts there?
LisaIt's, I think it's just like you brush your teeth, you wash your face you get, you sleep, you eat, you manage your energy. It, to me it's like that basing and that's why I call it energy hygiene. Yeah. It's so basic. Because otherwise we're just dealing with interference all the time. Energy that doesn't belong to us. How do you feel after a half an hour in Walmart or Costco? How do you feel, 15 minutes into that airplane ride? All the things we're dealing with difficult family situations or even with your client, our clients, we are called in into the mess. We are called to take our little light and bring it into other people's trauma. That's what we're doing as healers. And if we are not managing our own energy, we're not a safe space for our clients. First of all, and we're gonna take, we're gonna take damage, because we need to protect ourselves from I think about psychic self-defense as a really important thing. I was a, like I said, I was a martial artist because we need to feel like we can do what we need to do without it taking a bite out of us. That means we need to be grounded. Grounding all the time is step one. Step two is clearing the energy we picked up that doesn't belong to us and just clearing it out of our system. And step three is protection. Like bringing up your protection levels so that you have a little bit of a thicker skin or a little better boundary, a better barrier between who you are in the world. And then when we do that, and I do it in between clients, I do it before and after Walmart. Yeah. Otherwise, I'm like curled in the fetal position halfway through Walmart and I can't remember my name or where I parked my car.
PamI do know.
LisaYeah.
PamActually, especially at Christmas time when there's all stress. Yes.
LisaSaying,
Pamand going to the mall just used to be torture. For me, I'm torture. I'm so grateful that my husband loves to shop 'cause I just send him to do all the
Lisashop. Thank goodness for online shopping. That's what I say. We just need to function and to feel, we're called into service as empaths and healers and it's gonna take a bite out of us if we don't learn this energy, these energy hygiene practices.
PamOne of the things that I find is that we can get too caught up in protective bubbles and they take a lot of energy to maintain. And I've noticed that if I can simply put Reiki into my field and invite Reiki to do
LisaYeah.
PamProtecting for me that, it lets in what is good and helpful and healthy. Yeah. What I need and it also knows what not to let in. And that's great. Yeah. So I don't know if that's, yeah.
LisaI use like a the really working with the outside edge of your energy field
PamYeah.
LisaIs what I do, because that's what your boundary is. It's like your skin, and it's semi-permeable. It's meant to let in healthy energy and energy that's supportive to you and to keep out non-supportive energy. And we're meant to be the boss so that we are in control of what energy comes in and out. And if you're an empath, you don't have a really, you don't have a really solid one. You have a sponge,
PamI say it's a porous,
Lisaporous. Porous. That's right. It's like a sponge. And and that's I think learning to have a better boundary, a better energetic boundary. A stronger energetic boundary gives you a leg to stand on so that you can learn to set better boundaries in all the other areas of your life. Like, how to say no, how to. Decide when you're a yes or you're a no, you can't really feel that unless you have that outside edge of your energy field pretty strong and healthy. And of course, the more trauma we have, the more compromise that boundary layer gets. Because trauma rips it.
PamYeah.
LisaYeah. Lots of things rip it.
PamThey do. And I've always, I've had the theory that as an empath we maybe didn't intend to pick up trauma and energies from other people, but we did. And even though they come from other people, they still can rip that.
LisaYeah.
PamBoundary
Lisaother people's can. And your yours can too. If you've had trauma, so witnessing other people's trauma or having your own trauma substances can really compromise, like alcohol and drugs can really compromise the outside edge of our field. Or like you said, attachments, so if you want an attachment, just have a rip in your field. And then have a little, lots of pain on the inside of you. And that's a perfect re recipe for attaching, for attracting attachments, entities that, you look pretty tasty to them if you have holes in your field and a lot of pain on the inside,
Pamabsolutely. And I, I don't know about you, but I found that Reiki really was the tool that helped define my boundary. When the boundary itself was quite porous. And I never used to know, like, where did I end and where did another person begin? It was always a little bit confusing and it was just so lovely to get those edges,
yeah.
PamDefined.
LisaI think so too, and I think especially with Reiki, like we can connect to the, to Reiki and have it shine out of our energy field like a light bulb. Yeah.
PamYou
Lisaknow when we're shining out that energy I always say it's a little bit like turning the tap on your faucet. If something's shining out, nothing can get in, right? So Reiki can repair the rips and holes. Reiki can strengthen the outside edge of your field. And Reiki can, just shine out in a way that lifts your frequency high enough that you're not, you're no longer attractive to those kinds of beings. Yeah.
PamI love that. I was wondering there's a lot going on in the world today. How do you feel that Reiki and intuitive awareness can help bridge that division, that duality, that us versus them mentality? That is, it's really prevalent. I don't know. It seems to be, to me anyway.
LisaYeah, it sure is. I think when we we come from the attitude of Reiki. We're really more seeing through the eyes of the heart, right? It's such a heart-based practice. And when we see through the eyes of the heart, we let go of the polarity of us versus them. We let, we cultivate compassion for all living things, right? If you just practice the precepts, the five precepts from Reiki, it takes us out of that, the, that polarized viewpoint and into a more compassionate prayer place. And I think Reiki is really useful to, to use as a prayer. Can we send Reiki long distance to the people that are suffering in the world? I always imagined in my Reiki daily Reiki practice that the world is little, and I'm sending Reiki to the whole planet. All living beings on it. All, all people, all animals, all life. All life. The planet itself. When we're in that state, it's really hard to go us versus them. Where it brings, I think, unity consciousness and that, I do believe that's where we're evolving into, where we're moving into the, when they talk about the fifth dimension, the age of Aquarius, whatever you wanna call it, the ascension of humanity. That our consciousness is moving out of the age of Pisces, age, the polarity, and into this unity consciousness. And Reiki with its frequency of unconditional love is such a great way to get there. What into we're all in this together. That's unity consciousness. We're all part of something bigger. We're all little sparks of the divine here on the planet, and we're meant to help each other. I always say they should put the decisions of the world in the hands of the Reiki people and the empaths. Because we would be choosing a whole different set of priorities. We would be making a whole different set of decisions based on that, ID these ideas of compassion and unity and if I can't hurt somebody without hurting myself, and I, when I help other people, I'm helping myself like that. That's it. And it's, I just think it orients us towards that. And it's heartening to me. 'cause when I started Reiki in 1999, it was very fringe, very weird. Now in here in the States, there's 800 hospitals in the United States that have full-time Reiki staff.
PamYeah.
And,
LisaI really feel it's crossing the bridge more and more into mainstream. More and more people are studying it and recognizing its benefits. And I feel like that's a really good sign about where we're going as humans.
PamI love that. I think it is too. And I, and I'm really feeling in the energy, the unification consciousness. It's a big part of animal Reiki and the course and the energy, but it's just part of Reiki re regardless of what lineage that you're from. And in fact, I often, I love that you picture the little world. I actually literally have my favorite NASA photo of the earth that I pull up on my computer and I sit there,
Lisasee
PamYes. Send to that. And I didn't even realize, I'm leaving for Africa. And I've been, I didn't realize that Africa is really predominant on where, on the photo that I've been sending to until recently. And I just went, oh, I've been sending to that photo for. Few years now, ever since I found it. Maybe that's why I am called to Africa. But I feel like I've heard it said that the world is actually one organism.
LisaYeah.
PamAnd all the people on the planet and all the animals and the plants and the earth and the earth itself. And that makes a lot of sense to me. I think of it as my body that there's more bacterial DNA in my body than my DNA. And so just when I think about what makes up this one organism of our body, it's a bit of a, an analogy or a metaphor of the earth being one organism. I love that. You've worked a lot with psychic development. Lisa, what are some of the most common blocks with Reiki practitioners around psychic development?
LisaI think that it's really self-doubt is such a big block. Like we don't, we doubt, we don't trust that what we're getting is real. We buy the Hollywood or TV myths about what it's supposed to look like, and it's, that's so dramatic. It's so big, it's like falls on the floor and has a fit sort of foams at the mouth or, and I'm like, that hardly ever happens to me anyway.
PamI have not had it yet.
LisaYeah, me neither.
PamNobody's head has spun around.
LisaYeah, no, nobody's head has spun around. So I think we have to drop these myths and misconceptions. I think that. People think it's your only psychic if you're a visual psychic. So I'll lead people through psychic exercise and they'll say, I didn't see anything. You probably, you may, it's the most rare. And quite frankly, it's a, the, a pain in the neck. So having, opening to all of the psychic senses, what are you perceiving? What are you experiencing, what you feel? Sense? No. Here, opens us to that. It's so part of our everyday life, it probably happens 10 times a day. That little voice you hear, like that little nudge don't forget your umbrella or you where don't wear your car keys. Like the, those little voices we have the feelings, the sensing, the knowing. It's just happening so frequently that we dismiss it. Oh, that old thing. We, that old thing that we, we think it's not, or we're not special. Everyone is psychic and we're all getting it all the time. I also think people. I think you don't have to work on it. Like somehow you're just like magically amazing at it without any work. And I always say it's like athletic ability or musical ability. You can be born with tons of talent, but you still have to work it. Yeah. You still have to practice. You have to learn. You have to, it's like a muscle that you have to exercise. And the more that you do that, the more it comes to your fingertips. So I think those are, they're really the big blocks. And that's what I really talk about in my book, awakening Your Psychic Ability. How do we integrate it? How do we recognize what it's happening? And then integrate it and act on it. You gotta act on it sometimes too. Not every single time, but sometimes, or it shuts down.
PamYeah. I love that. I love that you said you have to work on it because Absolutely. Even when I teach people to communicate with animals, it's now you have to practice.
LisaYou have to
Pampractice it. 'cause it's just like learning a language. If you don't use it, I speak French, but if I don't speak French for quite a while, I get very rusty. And I have to immerse myself and work at it. So Yeah. It is something. Yeah. Same
Lisathing with Reiki. Like you have to practice, you have to do
Pamit. Yeah. Yeah.
LisaAnd the more you do it, the more, the better you get at it, the more it's there. And the same thing is true with psychic development.
PamI love that. That's so great. If somebody listening today wants to deepen their connection with their intuition, and they want to use their Reiki energy to facilitate that, what would they do?
LisaMy number one starting tool is to get what I call the psychic journal. And it's just a regular journal write, psychic journal on the top of it. Or I published one called The Psych, the Psychic Awakening Journal. And and you just start recording your dreams at night, record your, if you pull Oracle cards, put 'em down in there. Every time you have a psychic hit or you see you, you see the signs in Omens. Because it's happening, like I said, 10 times a day. But oftentimes it's very ephemeral. It's like a dream. Like you, you are like, oh my God, this is so significant. But if you don't write it down, you forget about it. Like a couple of hours later, a couple of days later. And if you start writing it all down in a journal, you're gonna be amazed at how psychic you already are. Amazed. And you're, it's that practicing. Really putting our attention on it, paying attention to it, putting our focus on it also helps a lot. So I think that's the very, very first thing you can do. What if, as a Reiki practitioner, at the end of your session, you wrote down everything you experienced, even if you didn't share it with your client. Everything you felt, everything you knew, everything you saw, everything you heard that kind of attention really builds the muscle.
PamI really agree with you. I find that sometimes the experiences that we have in Reiki or the intuitive information that comes in is so profound that I find myself thinking like, I will never forget that as long as I live. But it's not happening in the memory part of your brain.
LisaThat's right.
PamAnd 15 minutes later, if I haven't written it down, it's gone. We
Lisaforgot. I know.
PamEven though it's just like a dream though. It was profound. You're
Lisastill oh my gosh, that thing and
Pamthat was amazing. But if I don't
Lisawrite it down, it's gone.
PamYeah. And in fact, I, it's part of my practice with animal communication. I choose not to write it down because my intention is to leave it between the animal and their human caregiver. It's not mine. It belongs to them. It's just, I'm just channeling it through and I do get a kick out of it. 'cause people will say remember you told me this. It's no,
LisaI don't remember. I don't remember. I
Pamnot remember.
LisaNo, same with me. I remember
Pambecause I deliberately didn't hang on to that. I didn't keep a hold of it.
LisaKind of a privacy.
PamPrivacy,
Lisalike it's a, yeah, it's a privacy thing for our clients and, yeah. I do the same.
PamThey're they record it. They're welcome to have the recordings, but I'm not going back and listening to them and and I'm not writing it down or anything. Yeah, if you don't write it down, it doesn't stay in the memory part of your brain. That is wonderful advice. One question before I ask you to take this into a meditation. One last question. Authentic healing. What does that mean to you today?
LisaI think it's leaning into the problems. And I notice that in the spiritual community right now, there's a lot of to toxic positivity or spiritual bypassing that happens. And to me, authentic healing means we're not afraid to do the hard work. We're not afraid to go into the trauma. We stay, learn to stay grounded and present with our own shadow. Our own shadows. Doing some shadow work is really powerful. Because I feel like as practitioners, we can only go with our clients as deep as we've been in ourself. So even though I've been working as a healer for, I'm not kidding, 40 years now, I still am always doing my own work. I'm still, I never stop. And if I stop doing my own inner work, my business dries up, my psychic gets rusty. Like it, to me, it's about, I'm on the cutting edge of my own spiritual evolution all the time. And to be humble about that and look at, okay, what's going on here? What's arising inside of me to be healed without sugarcoating it or brushing it under the carpet and having the willingness to do that inner looking at even the dark and shadowy parts is I think really what authentic healing is. And there's only so much love and lighting it we can do. Sometimes we have to. We have to like, pick up the rock and look at all the wiggly things under the rock. Like we have to go deep. And I personally like that, so it's not a problem for me, but I, but to me, that's what authentic healing really means.
PamI literally pick up rocks and enjoy looking at the wiggly things underneath. As agricultural scientist, I'm always so happy to see warmth and insects and all the things. But I, no, I totally agree with you. On a, an energetic level too. There's I do occasionally, not often these days, but I used to more in the past run into people that kind of had their eyes closed and their ears plugged and they were saying, there's only love. There's only love. There's only la. There's only love. And it's no, we live in a world of duality, so we really have to acknowledge that there's both, and that's what we do as lightworkers, we contribute to the frequency on the planet by addressing the shadows and addressing the stuff that is not love, the not self that exists for so many of us. So I love that. Do you know, I do want to mention one thing as we were talking about psychic development. I usually talk in my classes about the Claires and how often our psychic abilities are awakened or or enhanced or they grow as a result of the class. And how usually, we have one. Or more psychic abilities, but usually one's kind of one of the dominant ones. But I usually talk about all the different Claire's, cla, empathy, clairvoyance, Clair, tangenty, Claire. Audience. When I, in 2011, right off the bat I taught a children's Reiki class to my three kids and another six children and adults from the neighborhood. And no, actually that's wrong, to eight, eight other eight other people from the neighborhood. And as I was after I, I talked to them about the Claires and they did their level one attunement, and a few weeks later, one of the little boys. Said to me, and I'm trying to think, he would've been about 11, he said, Pam, is it possible to have all the Claires, because I can see energy and I can ever since that attunement, I can see it and I can feel it, and I can taste it, and I can smell it and I can. And I just was surprised. But I went, whoa. Clearly it's, and my youngest daughter, who was nine when she did the class alongside of him, she said, yeah, me too, mama. Wow. Wow.
LisaThat's so cool.
PamKids are amazing. Kids
Lisaare amazing. And a lot of people have all the Claires, a lot of people have capacity for all of them if they're willing to do the work,
Pamyeah.
LisaTo practice on them. But it's not uncommon that I see people that, that have the full package.
PamI find that in a lot of cases, it's that when I teach animal communication that they develop. So like they might have had three that were predominant but then the others start to come along. Yes. And we
Lisastart with our strong ones. We start with the ones that are already active. And when we really do the work and do the practice, it can often open the other ones,
Pamfor
Lisasure.
PamYeah. Yeah. I noticed that as well, so I love it. Lisa, would you lead us in a practice or a meditation today to just demonstrate some of this work?
LisaYeah. I'd love to lead you through my my ground clear and protect meditation. That's the foundational psychic hygiene that I do with all my Reiki students, my empath students, and my psychic students. So that's the first thing I do.
PamThat would
Lisabe, it's always good to do.
PamYeah.
LisaOkay. All right. Let's do it.
PamThank
Lisayou. All right. So I just invite you to close your eyes. Really, if you can get your feet on the floor, that's beautiful. And to start with just taking a deep breath, let's breathe into our hearts. Slow down your breathing. Take a nice deep breath in there. And as you come into your heart, we just recall our energy. So call back your energy. Use your inhale breaths, a callback, all the parts of you that got scattered out throughout your day, what you were doing before this, what you have to do later. Let it all go for this moment. You can almost even think about cutting cords with all the things that are not us being fully present in this moment. So really breathe. Breathe into your heart, and as you breathe into your heart on the exhale breath. You're gonna take any extra energy that your heart is holding if it feels heavy or dense in there, and breathe it down your spine and out the bottoms of your feet through a little grounding. And on your next breath, we're gonna drop into your belly, noticing what's going on in your belly. Maybe you soften your diaphragm a little bit. And a lot of times our belly is where we hold the energy we pick up from other people. So just check and see if you're, does it feel tight and squirmy in there, or does it feel loose and relaxed? And on the next exhale breath, this is where we squeeze the sponge. Just imagining you're releasing all the emotions that are yours, all, everything that's not yours, anything that's yours, that's ready to go down your legs and feet and into the earth. We're just gonna ask the earth to receive this, to compost it, to transmute it. We ask the earth was a lot of gratitude to throw it on the compost bin. Then we're gonna drop now into our tailbone. As we come into the tailbone, we get even more embodied, even more grounded. A gentle invitation to come even more into your body, feeling your tailbone relax. Feel the chakras at the bottoms of your feet, and on the exhale breath. Then you can drop the grounding cord down. Imagine that your tailbone is extending like the root of a tree through the chair you're in, through the layers of the building you're in. Let gravity pick it up. It's E. It's easy, effortless. Just let that grounding cord go really deep into the earth, deep and wide feeling. The soil, the rocks, the crystal, the water. Let it spread out. Let it tap into the beautiful, gentle, restful energy of the earth. So we really grounded, we really cleared, and we might even now imagine the big beam of light coming in the top of our head. This is a great meditation to activate and open your psychic gifts. So imagine that beam of light is coming from your own soul, coming straight from divine source into your crown chakra, opening and clearing your crown down to the center of your brain. The third eye, the pineal gland. It's just gonna switch on the pineal gland, just like turning on a light switch, and then dropping it down through your throat chakra right into your heart. Let that energy of divine love Reiki energy. If you wanna activate your Reiki, go ahead and. Drop that beautiful divine love, unconditional love right into your heart. And then we're gonna take a few more breaths into our heart. So imagine pulling the energy up from the earth, the light of the earth. Pull it up from your roots right into your heart. And on the same inhale breath, if you can manage it, pull the divine energy down. So almost like you're breathing from, you're pulling from two ends of this straw. We're just filling our heart with this beautiful mix of the light of the earth and this divine light letting your heart get bigger. With each inhale breath, we're just gonna move that energy now to the outside edge of our field. So find the outside edge of your energy field. You can just imagine, pretend, or visualize. It's usually about arms length out, and this is the edge of your own energy field. We're gonna send this light out there to repair, fix seal any cracks or holes, heal it. We're just gonna tell this outside edge of our energy field that we're, it's to allow in energy that's supportive to us, and non-supportive energy stays on the other side. Nothing gets through without our permission. We're the boss of our boundary. And another breath here feeling, pulling the energy into our heart, feeling the edge of our boundary. Just notice how you feel. Notice if you feel any different than you did when we started together. Take a moment to absorb this beautiful energy to any part of you that needs it. Any part that's tired or needs support, or is feeling pain or restriction. Takes them into your own being your physical body, your emotions, your mind, your spiritual self. Take plenty of energy for your own self. And then on the next exhale, any leftover energy you have, if you feel a little lightheaded or dizzy, we're gonna drop it back down the grounding cord and we give it back to the earth. The energy we don't need. We recycle it back down to the planet with our thanks and gratitude for her support and love. Drop extra energy through the grounding cord, through the soles of your feet. And then just begin to come back into your body. Feel your heartbeat, feel some, maybe some movement, and wiggle your fingers and toes a little bit. Maybe move your head and neck around a little bit, and then when you're ready, you can open your eyes.
PamThat was lovely, Lisa. Thank you.
LisaI feel better.
PamMe too. I was a little scattered. Yeah. With everything I'm working on today. Is there anything, any last advice or anything at all that you'd like to leave the listeners with today? Lisa?
LisaI just really wanna encourage everybody to stick with their own healing, to stick with Reiki, to stick with your meditation. And this is an important time that when we hold a higher vibe, when we hold a state of love, a state of joy, we really impact the world so much. And I see us together a network of lights coming together that we are so strong together. So let's continue to bring our light out into the world as best we can day by day.
PamYes. I couldn't agree more. Lisa, thank you so much for being here with us today and sharing all of this. And I really I haven't read your other books, but I know how good the Art of Psychic Reiki is, and so I know the others are probably amazing too. Really highly recommend. And I just, for all the listeners out there, thank you so much for being that beautiful bright light, for having the courage to tap into your own gifts and talents and use them for the betterment of the world to raise the vibration on the planet. We appreciate you. Thank you. Namaste.
