What keeps us from being fully present?
In this episode of Reiki from the Farm, I sit down with Reiki Master and Vortex Healing practitioner/teacher Lorraine Goldbloom to explore the energetic bodies, the chakra system, the Sacred Heart, and the conditioning that shapes our lives.
Together, we discuss the web of creation that connects all life, why so many of our deepest patterns remain hidden from awareness, and how healing begins when we recognize what has been unconsciously driving our thoughts, emotions, and actions with fresh insights into presence, freedom, and remembering who you truly are.

We caution you, though, this podcast may also dramatically improve your life, and we are so happy that you're here.
Pamon this week's podcast, I am so excited to talk with someone I met at Omega Institute at the Wisdom of Reiki conference, Lorraine Goldbloom. Welcome, Lorraine.
LorraineThank you so much for having me. I was delighted when you invited me to come on.
PamWe hit it off at the conference, and I just, I was so enamored with your topic on energy anatomy. It just, it explained so many things, and it just went so beautifully. It merged so beautifully with what we're doing with Reiki, but just really helped with the understanding. So I just couldn't wait to bring you on here and share that with our audience, Lorraine. Welcome. Before we go too far, I just wanted to let you know about some of the things we've got coming up at the farm. The Campobello classes are not full, so feel free to join us either online or in person. August 8th to 14th is our level one and two and master class with a beautiful day the Monday in between. It's on Campobello Island, so we'll be going whale watching going to Eleanor Roosevelt's tea visiting their summer cottage. We'll go for a hike together and have a meal together. So it's just a way to show you this gorgeous island off the coast of Maine. It is a Canadian island, so bring your passport. But it is off the coast of Maine. And funny story the gentleman who was doing the cartography, because this island is much closer to Maine than... or to the US than to Canada, but the gentleman who was doing the cartography was desperately seasick when he was drawing the lines. And this is actually in the history, and he just said, "Give it to Canada." So that's why. And it's such an interesting island, where it is landlocked by the United States, and it's just off. It... You actually get to it through the town of Lubec, Maine. And it is where the Roosevelts spent every summer from the time Franklin Roosevelt was one year old, actually, until he was in the presidency. And, It it, or until he got polio, and then he was only there a few times after that. But it is just this most wonderful island, and many of the people from Campobello call it the Republic of Campobello because it's both American and Canadian. And truly, the homes are, probably half owned by Canadian people and half by Americans. And so it's just a lovely place. That following week I guess I ta- it... We have Animal Reiki, August 15th to 20th. The same thing with that lovely Monday in between where I can show you our beloved island. And then the week after that, for the first time ever, I have not offered animal communication in person since 2020, since COVID. So this will be my first online and in-person animal communication class. It will be all the way from level one and two to master teacher, and that is animal communication for Reiki practitioners. Reiki level one and two is a prerequisite, and for the master classes, a Reiki master from any lineage the, this is a prerequisite. And the same for Animal Reiki. Would love to have you join us. Then in October, we've got a full lineup of classes here at the farm. The level one and two classes will be here at the farm just outside of Fredericton, New Brunswick. And the master classes will be online in the evenings. So would just love to have you join us. Lorraine, what have... Do you have anything coming up that you'd like to let people know about?
LorraineI have... I, that's quite a lineup. That sounds great.
PamThat sounds like tremendous- and actually, in between there, I'm going to Hong Kong, and I'll be teaching- Oh my
Lorrainegoodness
Pamhealthcare Reiki, animal Reiki one and two, and animal Reiki masters in Hong Kong. And then from Hong Kong, we're going to visit Mount Kurama and and Usui Sensei's birthplace. So yes, it is a wonderful lineup coming up.
LorraineThat's a fantastic lineup. Summer's pretty busy for me. We have... I do a lot of online events- Yes as well as some in-person events. And some things coming up in July. I have the a healing series called Call to Freedom-
PamOoh
Lorrainewhich is something I do with a colleague of mine who does this beautiful angelic healing, and it's a wonderful introduction to vortex healing. And we talk about different themes and go through a kind of guided visualization to support people in getting awareness into what the theme is. And then, of course we offer a healing. And on July 26th, we're doing a Call to Freedom session about trust Yeah. No, it's a important topic to, to explore. If you don't have trust in life, trust in yourself, trust in the divine, life is a very different experience. And so this, these Call to Freedom healing sessions are free. And they're open to everyone. So you can always look at my website, lorrainegoldbloom.com. And before that, I'm doing a I call... I have a something called the Finding Presence series. And I'm doing a special session about holding space, and what it means to really hold space and hold space for yourself as, and holding space for others. Sometimes we're quick to hold space for others, but we don't take the time to find our center and make sure we're really in a position to be present. And we're going to do a exploration and of course a, a healing for that. And those are online. But i- back in person again, w- I'm going back to the Omega Institute in August. August 9th through 14th, we're offering the foundational Vortex Healing workshop, and I'm doing that with Rick Weinman who's the founder, the modern-day founder of Vortex Healing. So that's great fun. You love Omega. I love Omega. We all love Omega. It's like a magical summer camp, Yeah for adults. Imagine how fun. We're bringing the foundational there. And for people who can't make it in person, because we have great fun in person, but we do also offer, I will offer the foundational online later in October. October 9th through 13th if people are interested but can't make the trip. So yeah, lots of stuff. Exciting. So many offerings. Yeah.
PamThat's amazing, and I love, I'm... You may see me in, at the end of July. That sounds so interesting, and and you've piqued my interest. I'm curious. But also interesting is that in the horse card deck that I've been working on, trust has been a big message right now. It's
Lorrainehuge. Yeah. And I'm someone who has had a lot of issues about trust. Just trusting the process, trusting the divine. And when you lose that when you feel like that's been betrayed it's a very different experience of life. And finding your way back to open the heart again when it's been shut down is it's our spiritual path really, I think. To learn what that really means, and to feel the flow of life and being in divine intention. It's it's what we all pray for, I think.
PamYeah. Oh my gosh, that's beautiful. Thank you. Before we go too far, guys, I just would like to invite everybody to bring your hands into Gassho and activate Reiki. And what this does is it just allows us to tune into or to move into the flow of this conversation so that the parts that we need land with us And since the conversation thus far has been around trust Let's just as we invite Reiki to flow, we just ask are there any areas of my life where I'm not in trust? Maybe where I don't trust myself. And if there are, just identify where does that mistrust or distrust live in your body, and just invite Reiki to just begin a gradual release process as you listen to the podcast today. Wherever you are, whatever time zone you're in or continent that you're on Just allow this to flow, and please know how much we appreciate you and the beautiful light that you're spreading on the planet today Thank you. Namaste
LorraineBeautiful. Lovely.
PamI just always find that if we activate Reiki and just allow it to flow... First of all, I need grounded usually. I'm always so excited to talk to people and with our guests and so on, but I just find it grounds us in the energy, and it just helps us pull out the pieces that are pertinent for us. Yeah.
LorraineYeah. Yeah. I like to take a moment as well before I open my mouth to 'Cause I often have my own agenda for what I wanna share, what I wanna communicate, and what I... And just to take a moment to put all that down and just feel the flow as it's happening. Just to come back to presence,
Pamyeah, I guess that's my process of doing that- Yeah somewhat. It's just, yeah. Lorraine, I wanted to start our conversation today with a really interesting question about what is the nature of magic? Before we even get into vortex healing and energy anatomy- Yeah let's talk... you talked about how Omega was summer camp for, and I'm yeah, it's kinda like a Hogwarts summer camp.
LorraineIt is. Yeah.
PamI love Omega Institute. I can't say enough about it. Oh, I- And so for people like Reiki people who are tapped into the magic, let's talk about that. How would you define that and what would you want to speak to around that?
LorraineThank you for the question. I love to talk about magic. I think- I love to talk about magic 'cause I think magic is very misunderstood in modern day. Because we tend to think of magic as fantasy or escapism. Or we think of magical thinking, which is, little rules and regulations we put together to try to feel more in control, right? But the real magic is, to me, and this is my personal observation of magic, magic is when something greater than us, something beyond our understanding, the unknown, mystery, God, the divine, whatever it is. When something that's beyond our understanding reaches out and touches us in a very personal, very intimate way, and we say to ourselves, "That can't just be a coincidence. There has to be some kind of higher force that has reached out to bring my awareness to this moment, to l-..." It's when you feel like cared for and touched in a very personal, intimate way. You may not understand the process, but it's very real, and it blows the mind, and it opens the heart. And when you channel, when you work with healing and the process, vortex healing, Reiki, or whatever, it blows the mind and it opens the heart, and you feel connected to this real magic. And, part of... We're talking about trust. Opening the heart again is coming back to that. Because it's always there. It's in everything. But most of us learn to compartmentalize, to do what we need to do to function. We decide what's important and what isn't and the nature of our issues take us out of being in the moment, and the magic is really in the moment. And so a lot of w- I think what we seek as seekers is to find that magic in the moment again. It's always there, but we lose touch with it. And to me that's what it's really all about.
PamI love that. You've remind me, and I wish I could remember who said it. I can't recall but I recently heard someone who explai- explained that they had been an atheist all their lives, and one day they were looking at the beauty of, I think it was- Yeah a sunset in nature, and they thought, "There's no way that there's not- Yeah something larger than me." It for to, there's something must have created something this beautiful, and they immediately surrender- Yeah to, to the idea that there, there definitely is something, whatever you want to call it. There is an energy, a force that, that does create, beautiful beauty and systems and- Yeah and all of that. And reiki and vortex healing and m- many other modalities, these are often just a way to just tap into that. So I love that. Tell us-
LorraineYeah, and it's always there. It's, it's the- Yeah nature of our issues that keep us out of seeing it and knowing it.
PamIt's that belief in separation, and quite often the animals tell us it's kinda cute that you believe in separation, like that you could ever be separate from all of this. It's adorable. Exactly you
Lorraineknow. It's cute until we suffer. This is my gesture for suffering, to us, it's not so cute. But yeah. From the perspective of the whole, of course. Because we could never really be separate. So I... it's cute that we have that experience from that point- Yeah of view.
PamAnd that belief, that's right. And yet we do. And, I would just... it's even the card deck has caused me to confront, where... Like I, I had surrendered so many areas of my life to source, to reiki and it actually highlighted, yeah, but there's still a few areas that you haven't and that you still subscribe to that belief in separation, so you've got to look at those too now. You've gotta in for a penny, in for a pound sort of thing, yeah.
LorraineThat's our work, isn't it? I think so long as we're in form- we're going to have the physical body and the human energy system allows for the divine to have an experience of separation. The suffering only comes when we buy into that and we believe that's the totality of what we are. It's n- not the pain really that we experience, it's our identification with it that keeps us in suffering. And so our work is to recognize it for what it is.
PamThat's so cool, and so consistent with some of the messages that have been coming through the card deck recently too, Lorraine. I love it. Let's talk for a minute about what vortex healing is, and how you find that you put... It comes together with Reiki, or it works together with Reiki, because I think that from your demonstration at the Omega Wisdom of Reiki conference, you work with the two together very beautifully and almost seamlessly
LorraineYes. Thank you. I, it's interesting. I... Vortex Healing was something that I just stumbled into. And I started taking classes, and I took it as a guilty pleasure, almost. I had no ambition to be a healer, much less a teacher. I just loved the magic in it. And I, and it brought me just such joy. And it piqued my interest, so I started s- taking Reiki classes as well just to learn everything I could about different perspectives on things and all of that. And I find that Vortex Healing plays well with others. And a lot of people- Like Reiki. Yeah, exactly, who come to us, have a background in Reiki or other modalities and all of that because, it's all one. Yeah. Vortex Healing, I think it's unique in the way that it works not just with energy and a channeled energy, but it works with consciousness as well. So it works with not just releasing how issues impact the physical body and the energy system. And our issues do. I mean- an issue is anything that keeps us out of being present. And so that experience of separation, as we were talking about, that belief that we are angry, for example. We have an experience of anger. It's a physical experience. It's an emotional experience. You can see it in the physical body. You can see it in the energy system. You can see it in the chakras. You can, if you're psychic enough, you can track it and all the energy p- all of that. But there's also a consciousness component in that where we believe that's what we are, and our language reflects that. We don't just say, "Oh, I have anger conditioning my chakras and my energy system today." We say, "I am angry." "I am sad. I am..." And we have a story about what that means. And so Vortex Healing not only addresses the conditioning or the impact of that issue in the physical body and the energy system, but it also meets it on a consciousness level, and it helps to awaken the story that our issues create. It brings a divine perspective to that belief in us. It's actually deeper than a belief. It's really a piece of separation consciousness that, that says I am angry, and it meets it in love. And it says, "Really? You think you're angry? You're so much more than that. You're divinity in form." It's that divine perspective. And so as we begin to work on our issues- we, hopefully we feel better. We have practical results. We're all kinda looking for that, of course. But at the same time, I talk about vortex healing, I talk about it as a, at a lineage about awakening, and awakening out of the separation consciousness, the issues the experience of being limited that way, to remembering the truth of what you are. And so the language around that it's very akin to Reiki in the way that it works. It's a channeled energy. It's easy to learn. It's easy to apply. And Reiki, by all means is a spiritual path. But a lot of, where does the spiritual path lead you into the deeper awakening? Because once we clear the decks, as it were, of our issues, and we begin to recognize, "Okay, I am not my anger. I am not my sadness. I am not my loss. I am not my physical pain." The deeper question arises then, what am I? And so the deepest awakening really comes to remembering the truth of what we are, which is, divinity and form. It's breaking down those fundamental identities. And so you can't really separate the healing from the awakening. They really become one and the same, brought together by, by magic. And they play well together, and it's a wonderful... I love Reiki because of how it really makes you feel safe. My experience of Reiki it's like a warm hug. It makes you feel safe. And nothing... It's hard to go to those deep, dark places if you don't feel safe enough to do and you really need, on whatever level, that opening. And I find that they pair beautifully.
PamThat's so interesting, and I can't help but think that there are similarities with what you're talking about, like the self and the not-self. That's been showing up for us in healthcare Reiki that, you know- our true self is perfectly healthy and whole. And- Yeah whoever we sometimes identify with or believe that we are the not-self, which is where dis-ease comes in. And it also that, that as you described separation, it made me think of something that I read from Sir- Sir Dr. David Hawkins about ab- and it's, it goes along with Michael Singer's work on The Untethered Soul that- there, that we have two experiences within us. Like we have There, there is the observer and the one that's being observed. And Dr. Hawkins talked about how in presence we experience that unification, and we experience everything in real time. The observer is always one-tenth of a second behind and so is not in real time. And so that's why it's so important to get into things like meditation to and vortex healing, it would seem, is to just move into that pure presence. So-
LorraineYeah
Pamyeah. And one of the things you talked about was the, in your presentation, was the web of creation, and that really I wrote that down and highlighted it. Can you tell us a bit about that? And we are going to talk about pure presence as well.
LorraineYeah. I think different lineages, different modalities have different language for the same thing. Yeah But if you talk about the nature of creation, even Einstein would talk about a unified field of creation, and different expressions within that unified field of dis- of creation. And many psychics would describe, what that looks like, the experience of that, as a large web, of a web of interconnectedness. And not a as a visual, not a flat, Charlotte's Web, save that pig kind of web. But i- a massive multidimensional, we call it the vital web of creation. And so within that is what we know of creation. My body, my energy system, my experience of self is really a cross-section of vital webbing y- that has the ability to experience and express itself as a separate being. Your body, your energy system, all of that is a cross-section of vital web lines that has the ability to experience and express itself as something separate, vital webbing between us. And so we have this experience of being separate people in our own lives and our own experience, but from the point of view of creation, it's all one. It really is all one. You hear that said of "Oh, it's all one. Isn't that nice?" But it's not just a nice thing to say or imagine. It is the nature of expression that there's a unified, we call it the vital web. And then as an expression of that, the one is having an experience of being me. The one is having an experience of being you. The one is having an experience of being life. And part of that experience is our own separation consciousness. And so when we embark on a spiritual path and we're looking to connect to the one, what we come to realize, if it's a true path, is that we were never actually disconnected. We're never actually disconnected. That's... We just have an experience of being disconnected and, and the seeking and the finding. Everything we're really looking for is already there. It's just that our issues distract us from being aware of that, because our issues are designed to keep us out of being present. And so even our issues come from the one. It seems for whatever reason, the divine play, that creation manifests itself in this endlessly creative experience. And so coming in awareness of the vital web, we have a, an experience of, I use the language functional oneness, where it's not just an idea. We actually relax into the webness of form and get a sense of that, of how we could never possibly be disconnected. And it's very powerful to come from that place. It also opens our hearts to compassion for other human experience and all of that.
PamI love that. And you talked about our issues, that they're anything that takes us out of the present moment. And I, for me, I always find I'm visual, and Colleen Benelli and I have talked about the fact that we are, our soul, our spirit inside of us is perfect and whole. However, sometimes it has the appearance of not being so because our injuries, our traumas, our issues create this kind of shroud or blanket that's over top of it, and so we can't see the wholeness or we just sometimes believe that it's not there. Can you tell us, like, how would you define an issue and just talk to us a little bit more about that?
LorraineBeautifully said, by the way. Thank you. Beautifully said. I completely agree with you. Yeah, issues are tricky because they are designed... I think the whole body and energy system, as I said, is designed for this cross-section of vital lines to have an experience of separation, and issues really, they really magnify that. And we think about it, when do we know ourselves the best is when we're in some kind of struggle. When we're relaxing, we don't have a sense of ourselves. We don't need a sense of ourselves. We can just be present. When we really get into the deepest identity we're looking at that, that, that ego, that separation consciousness. And so issues are very hard to work with. They impact, like I said, every... they don't sit nice and neatly in one, just in one chakra or just in one energetic body. They express throughout to support the experience. And as I said, there's this consciousness component to them as well. And you can't just release something. You need to awaken out of the stories that they create. And I think the deepest issues are the ones that we don't even know we have. As we're so deeply identified with it, we can't even see it. When we come from a point of view that life is hard, you know- or this is unfair, or, I told my story about the Omega Institute, about my sort of epic experience of loss- And how I didn't realize in, in, through my 20s, that a lot of my major life decisions were coming from this place of not trusting life because there was this deep sense of loss. I just thought, oh, I'm... I decided I'll never get married or I'll never have children or, these aren't free will decisions. They weren't for me. They could be for someone else. But for me, these were conditioned responses- From someone who, wasn't willing to open. Wasn't ready to open, I should say. And then the day that I realized, oh, this is an issue When I realized, oh, I have this epic issue of loss that's affecting my experience of life and my interaction with everyone. It was horrifying on one level, but it was also incredibly freeing because I could recognize it for what it was. And by the time something is really in our face, and we recognize I have an issue of loss or I have an issue of anger or I have... It's workable. It might be really humbling and hard, but as soon as we recognize it as an issue, it... We already have a little space where we can recognize it for what it is. The, the- we've gi- been given a gift of an opening. And then- and then we just kinda carry on our work and... But that one moment where we just see it as an issue and not as what we are or not the way life is huge. It's huge. And so as we go through and we work on our issues and we get more space, it creates more space for more openings. And then, the deepest healing is when we come to the core of it. We're not just exploring our experience of being separate in the form of loss, anger, or any issue. We're exploring our experience of being human and having an experience of being separate. And remember, ah, no, the truth of what I am can never really be in separation
PamYeah, I love that. And I guess it's come through in prayer for me is the belief that you are separate or ever could be from, from source and so on. And I love what you said about stories because one of the things when I was sharing the animal wisdom that at Omega that the animals wanted us to know one of the really clear ones is the animals tell us that we're beautiful and that they- that we could recognize that about themselves. They wish that we could see ourselves the way they see us, and they actually had me challenge the stories that we tell ourselves. And just if we don't believe ourselves to be beautiful, their question was, "Who told you that?"
LorraineYeah.
PamAnd can you be absolutely certain that they were correct? We b- and so I, I just love the awareness of the story the challenging of the story. And you've talked quite a bit about conditioning and how it shapes our lives, and I've heard you say that freedom comes from recognizing our conditioning. What does that look like?
LorraineYeah I think that's along the lines of what we were just talking about. I just have to comment that I love what you just said and how the animals... I think human beings are unique in the way that we have this mental facility that helps to craft these stories that support our experience of separation. We get ourselves all wound up in this experience, and then justify it and, all of that. And that's part of how our issues are kept in place. The whole- structure of the form is designed to support the experience. And so the conditioning looks like that. It, it shows up. You can see, feel, experience the imprinting of how the consciousness of an issue shows up in the mental body. It shows up in our thoughts. It shows up in our psychology. It shows up in the energy system. It shows up everywhere, and it's like it trains our consciousness. It trains our energetic anatomy to narrow our focus to experience life in a particular way. When you come from a certain point of view, that's how you view and experience life. If you come from a place the world is not safe because anything I have will be lost," that is your experience of life. And we are conditioned, and we walk into the next moment with- A judgment about it, a fear about it a, an agenda for it, all of that. And that's how our issues condition our body, our energy system, our consciousness. And it's deeply embedded. It's not so easy to just let go. Issues are very real. It's just the illusion of separation that isn't. But to really work through that stuff you really go in, and you meet it where it is on an, a physical level, on an energetic level, on a consciousness level, and help it to recognize that it's hard, but it's just not the truth of who you are, and that's where the love comes in. You, you meet it in love and compassion, and, that, that love comes from the divine. It comes from that unknowable source of magic that meets us in that very personal, intimate way and says, "Ah, now is the moment of grace." Now is the moment you can see this, and you can experience this in a different way. Now is the moment of freedom. And so every healing is like an awakening. It's like an opening in that way. It's brings more space. We let go of more of conditioning, that entrainment. We just continue to let it go. And in that, there's great joy because joy is really... To me, joy is really more about the recognition of grace. It's not just happiness or relief. It's where we can see grace in everything, and it... And like magic it's always there. It's just our issues condition us to a very limited point of view. And so our, again, our path is to open.
PamI love that, Lorraine. You, I'm wondering, you've talked about the energetic bodies. Can you tell us a bit more about them?
LorraineSure. They're a natural part of the energy system. Very often in a... when I'm doing the energetic anatomy presentation, I kinda like to highlight them because they, chakras get a lot of press. As well they should. They're a very- Yeah important part of the energy system for expressing and receiving energy. But the energetic bodies also hold a lot of identity. We identify ourse- a- as physical beings. We identify as emotional beings. And part of that identification comes from these parts of the energetic anatomy that, that occupy the same space as the physical body, but have their own kind of subtle tissue. So there's an emotional body that occupies the same space as the physical body, but it's designed to allow us to experience and express ourselves as emotional beings. There's a mental body that allows us to experience and express ourselves as mental beings. There's a spiritual body, a whole part of the energetic anatomy that supports that spiritual evolution. And of course, we can identify with it, over-identify with it, as we can identify with anything, being a seeker or all of that. There's an etheric body that has to do with our sense of boundaries. Where do I stop? Where does the rest of the world begin? And if we have deep isolation issues, it could look like a brick wall. If we have- codependency issues, the etheric body can stretch or even tear as we wanna connect, like a mother to a child or a relationship. And very often, of course, because issues are so complicated, you have a combination because I feel, isolated and a per- I overcompensate in a different way. creating, we long to connect from the place that believes it's disconnected. And so many of us try to compensate for something like that. And that sounds judgemental as I say it. It's a natural part of, being in form, absolutely. There are other energetic bodies that sort of support the nervous system and its relationship with the nadi system and the kundalini energy, the digestive system that has to do with our physical digestion as well as the enteric nervous system. Places where things interface. Because we, again, we imagine, oh, the chakra system is separate from the nadi system, which is separate from the energetic... But we're all occupying the same space, and they're interfacing and things, come together as one experience of me. The karmic body is unique because that becomes a storehouse in the center of the spine for all of our karmic history. And so- Even without knowing the details, there's something deep inside of us that carries the issues from past lives, and carries that experience with us. And that's part of what colors the experience of this life. So if, you have a karmic history of abandonment, for example. In one life you were left on the church steps as a baby. In another life you were stuck on a deserted island. In another life, you find you have a pattern of feeling abandoned. And then when we come into this life, we already have kind of a point of view of that. We already have... and then through that point of view, as we were saying, we experience life as someone who's been abandoned. So every interaction becomes suspect, and it just builds on itself, and that conditioning increases. Aside from, of course, the genetic conditioning that we have modeled and passed on from our parents and our ancestry. So it's incredibly wondrous and complicated. But fortunately, we don't need to obliterate all of the conditioning from our system to know freedom. We just have to be able to have enough space to recognize it for what it is. It's okay to have this history. It's okay to have, as long it doesn't necessarily need to translate to, "I am in pain. I am suffering." Once we have enough space to just recognize it for what it is, that begins to transform and open our hearts to coming back into the moment. And so again, that's our path. That's our work. That's our fun.
PamAnd you mentioned recognizing patterning, and I remember you talked about the patterns,
LorraineYeah
Pamduring. Do you wanna say a little bit more about that?
LorraineI like to speak in terms of patterns because very often we focus on the stories. "Ah, I was told I was an Egyptian priestess," and da. And that's great, and maybe I was, but we can easily fall into romanticizing our issues as a way of almost justifying them because we m- sometimes we feel shame about them or whatever. But recognizing it as a pattern of abandonment, a pattern of the... It takes a lot of that romance out of it, and you just recognize it for what it is. It's part of that conditioning. It's part of how that experience has trained the system. And so the patterning comes from, the expression of issues in our system. So we look for that wherever it hides, and it does hide. And this is why we're explorers, aren't we? Always looking for different ways that issues show up in the body and in the energy system and in the consciousness. And just recognizing it for what it is so it doesn't hold us in the same way.
PamYeah. And I think that quite often when we can just release the charge around something, then it just, it no longer has a hold on us. And sometimes- Exactly it's as simple as that. You talked to me about animals, and that they can sometimes help us see our conditioning. And a lot of my work has, in with some of my deeper horse work, has related to how animals will mirror us and- reflect things to us. What... When you mentioned that just wondering what you were thinking of, and just, and why do you think animals have that effect on us?
LorraineI'm an animal lover. One reason I was very excited to hear your presentation and why I resonated with it so deeply. I love animals because being in their presence helps to keep me out of mind. I'm a very mentally oriented person. I'm a Virgo with a Virgo rising. It's tough. It's tough. I have a Piscean moon, which sort of smooths out some edges. But I love being around animals because of the innocence in the best sense of the word, the pure heart. And even though, of course, animals have issues, and of course, they have fear, and of course the nature of the heart seeing that reminds us of our own heart, I think. And it helps to remind me what's really important. And a lot of the stories around that when I'm in their presence, it's easier to let go of that because I can They reflect back to me. Just like you were talking about the animals communicated to you. It's cute that we get all caught up in that. It's just to, in order to be present with an animal, you just have to put some of that stuff down.
PamYou do.
LorraineIt's not gonna help you. And I welcome the opportunity to do that. And I think for most people like myself who are very mental, s- one of three things or a combination is gonna help them. Animals- Nature in general, or children. One or the... it's gonna help us come back into heart. And I'm just so grateful for what my animals have taught me. They've just made me a better human.
PamThey do seem to do that, don't they?
LorraineYeah.
PamYeah.
LorraineAs we talk about nature-
PamThank, thank God for
Lorrainethem
PamI realize my pretty flowers have got turned around, so I'll fix them. Oh. Thank God for them. I agree. And you're talking about bringing us back into the heart, and I know in your presentation we talked a bit about the sacred heart, and- that is the place that remembers who we really are. Can you tell us a bit more about that and what the sacred heart is and how it factors into your work?
LorraineSure. Sure. The vortex healing term that we use is actually the spiritual heart. But-
PamOh, the
Lorrainespiritual
Pamheart. I wrote it down wrong.
LorraineYeah. But you're not mistaken because to me it... when I see pictures of the sacred heart and all of that, to me it looks like it's a reference to the same thing. And the spiritual heart is the place in us that has not forgotten the truth, the whole energy system is designed to allow for this experience of separation and issues and all of that, but deep within all of that is a place that has not forgotten that it is whole. It's not separate from the sense of personal self, and it's not separate from the divine or God or whatever your term is. It's like that bridge, and it's that place that we can relax into. A lot of our identifications fall in front of it, and a lot of... the heart chakra that is in front of it on a more superficial level, that our deepest identities actually get held there, including the core of separation. We, in vortex healing, we call this the core veil. The fundamental sense of I that we believe we are sits in front of this place. A veil is something that obscures. But beneath all of that, is where we remember our true nature, and that's the spiritual heart. And so very often in meditation, just to come back into spiritual heart, in that place that knows that it was never disconnected, is a very powerful place to rest.
PamIt's a place of inspiration, I find, Yeah for me. I love sitting in that place. And like you said animals, nature, children, they do tend to bring me back to that place and, and- Absolutely. Yeah cause me to for- because I can be a bit too cerebral as well and I definitely am that 1/10 of a second behind a lot- Yeah a lot of the time. Particularly, I say, as a recovering type A personality or a recovering perfectionist. But yeah I love that. So if all the layers of conditioning fell away Who are we in the midst
Lorraineof- Who we've always been
PamOkay
Lorraineand who we always will be. And this is where language falls apart. So I don't wanna give you a, an off-the-cuff answer. Because as soon as we start talking about the truth of what we are, divinity and form, whatever language we fall into Language brings us into a subject-object experience. As- just as soon as we try to give language to something we're viewing something through subject-object. The truth of what we are is the source of all of that. So when we fall into a deep meditation or really truly relax back into spiritual heart, all of the sense of that falls away, and we feel maybe like we've disappeared. We haven't really. But the experience of separation, the thing that can track that disappears. And then we just sit in truth, in, in the oneness of it all. And so it's always there. That and it is not it is extraordinary, of course, but it's not extraordinary from the mental, the personality. The ego that's chasing that is not what gets that, it's the source of that remembering itself and bringing itself back home. And so long as we're in form, we're playing the game of working on our issues and trying to come home, because that's the nature of the game, for whatever reason. But when we actually relax and let go of all of that and we're just in truth there's not much to say about it. We are divinity in form is the best I got in this moment, which doesn't begin to touch on, the nature of what that really means. You
Pamknow, I sometimes use the word beauty, and but I And I love how you talked about, chasing after it will keep it awa- And I, even when I teach people for animal communication, trying too hard will make it not happen. And, Yeah even though it's-
LorraineI invented that.
PamDid you? I did I I definitely experienced it, and I, I think that... And I, I use the word allow a lot. Rather than trying, rather than efforting- Yeah just allowing. Just being and allowing. And it's so interesting how we can come from so many different angles or so many different places or modalities, and we're talking about the same thing, or we're getting the same- Yeah messages, I just love that. Lorraine, we're gonna lead people in or into an experience today, but is there anything else you'd like to share about your work before we do?
LorraineI know we've covered magic and healing and awakening and animals and... no, I think the word presence though is worthy of a definition. Because, you know- a lot of these words get tossed around a lot, and what does that mean to be present? And I think there are qualities in presence. There's the freedom in it, but freedom is relative from the personal experience. Freedom from something or freedom to be something. So there's freedom, but there's also heart. There's a n- a, an, a hereness to presence. And then of course the secret ingredient to presence is the nowness of it. So there's the freedom here, now. So the old, be here now. That's a thing. There's a reason why that's a thing. And so all of that, remembering the truth of what we are, if we can just put everything else down and be truly present, that's where we find what we're looking for.
PamAnd really I've heard it said that the past and the future don't exist. The, the only thing that is real is right here and right now.
LorraineYeah.
PamAnd so wow, I love that. You've given us a lot to think about. Thank you. Are you interested in leading us into a meditation today?
LorraineI'd love to. I'd love to get us started, in a little relaxation into the vital web. Maybe people can have an experience, their own experience of this vital web, 'cause it's not just a, a- an idea or a concept, it's a practical experience. And then we can move into a Reiki experience. So yeah, so I just invite who's ever listening, who's ever present with us to relax. I'm gonna start with a few deep breaths. And take a moment... Sometimes before I move into meditation I need to give myself permission to be here now. I need to just take a moment to feel my physical body and let go of any tension, physical tension, the jaw. I have my spots. Maybe you do, too. The shoulders, the belly. And just see how much of that is willing to let go in this moment. Anything that's willing to let go. And if it's not willing to let go, that's okay. Don't judge it The legs, the pelvis, the brow. Just let it be And very often when we let go of a piece of physical tension, we may experience some kind of emotional or mental tension that was holding that together. And so let's take a moment to see how much of that is willing to let go And if there's a charge or something that comes up around it, that's okay. There's no particular state that you need to be in now. It's just an invitation to let any tension go on every level And don't get too attached to it because the next moment could bring something completely different And as we relax into our body, our form, our energy system, letting any tension go, I invite you to just give up this idea, this experience so much as you can that we are a solid, separate someone. And we are, in fact, a cross-section of vital web lines within the larger vital web of creation. And I like to use the breath. Don't just think about it or imagine it. Just breathe into all of the web lines of the physical body and the energy system and the chakras and all of that. Just breathe into them recognizing that they're just a particular cross-section of web lines that allow for the experience and expression of separation, but never actually are. We never could be separate from everything and everyone around us. And just allow for the breath to feel that, to experience that directly And we'll just sit here for just a little bit, breathing into the vital web Letting go just for a little while of the experience of separation Beautiful. And now within this wondrous expression of web lines, all of these amazing web lines that make up the physical body and the chakras and the energy system, in the deepest place of heart we know is our spiritual heart. And so let's just breathe in that deepest place of heart we know, in that space that's not separate from our sense of personal self, but it also is not separate from the divine. It's that place that's never forgotten that. And just relax deep into that spiritual heart and breathe there. Rest there. Allow that to be the bridge of that experience of oneness And let's just stay here And let go into that And holding the space open for Reiki or whatever wants to come through in this beautiful moment of presence
PamThank you, Lorraine Just from within this vast web of creation, you're woven into it along with every living being, every tree, every animal, and every person that you have ever loved. We are all connected to this beautiful web of life Notice within this space that there's nothing you need to do to fix or to become. You are already part of the web and you've always been part of the web And as Lorraine brought us into the spiritual heart, the sacred heart That is so much beyond the physical heart and probably yet within It is this place within you that remembers who you truly are, the place that existed before the stories Allow Reiki to move through you, into you, into this place before the conditioning, before the labels, before fear or injury, and just rest a little longer in this space as we invite Reiki to flow. Just allowing it to move through us wherever it is needed. Perhaps through our body, our mind, our emotion, or every layer of our being Just imagine this spiritual heart or sacred heart expanding perhaps with every breath just becoming a little brighter, a little more natural, a little more spacious and aware And if there are any conditioning or beliefs or worries or patterns that are ready to be seen, not to fix or judge them, just to recognize them, we allow Reiki now to surround them with love and compassion as we rest in the awareness that beneath every story and every role and every experience, there is who we truly are. There is the part of us that is unchanged and whole, connected, that remembers So breathe deeply in this space for a few moments, aware of the web of creation around you and the sacred heart within you, Reiki flowing through you And we simply ask ourselves, "Who am I when I let go of everything that I'm not?" And just notice whatever arises, and know that whatever comes or does not come is perfect Who am I when I let go of everything that I'm not? And we'll remain here together for a few more moments today And just remaining in that beingness for as long as you'd like Whenever you feel ready to return, bring your awareness to your eyes. Slowly open them and come back into the room I was so deeply relaxed, I wasn't sure that I could come in and do my part Lorraine. That was- lovely
LorraineOh, it was lovely. Thank you so much. This has been really nice. I've enjoyed... in my Facebook, Instagram I did a post about the Reiki, Wisdom of Reiki conference, and I mentioned meeting you and that I was gonna pester you until we became friends. So
PamNo pestering you at all. I'm sorry. You're not gonna
Lorraineget rid of me.
PamI love that. I hope not. I'd love to stay in touch, and and I thank you. That really touched me deeply. I believe that... I don't know, just understanding those concepts helped me get to a place that was just even slightly adjacent or slightly deeper to, than that place that I normally go to. So I yeah, I appreciate that. That was incredible. Thank you.
LorraineBeautiful. A little magic for us both. A
Pamlittle magic. And thank you for being tapped into the magic, for joining us here today, for the magic and the love that you spread in the world. I hope that you were able to find that deep place of being-ness and relaxation within you today as well.
LorraineAbsolutely
Pamyeah. We appreciate you and the light you're spreading in the world. You're doing a great job. Thank you.
LorraineThank you. Thank you so much.
PamYou're so welcome, and namaste everyone. I look forward- Namaste to seeing you next week. That-
