WHAT I'VE LEARNT
What I've Learnt - Sarah Rosenberg
Stigma, suspicion and a lack of support. That’s the view on why only 10% of sexual assaults are reported in Australia. As a result, sexual assault victims are grossly under-represented and do not receive the social or judicial validation that they deserve. While systemic reform is slow-moving, With You We Can is fighting for victims now, by empowering victims to fight for each other. If we create understanding around our criminal justice system, we change outcomes for victims everywhere. Sarah Rosenberg is the Executive Director of With You We Can, a national platform demystifying the police and legal processes for victims of sexual violence while working to improve them. Her advocacy centres on the need for independent legal representation for victims. Sarah fosters collaboration among advocates, experts and services and consults on various government and sector initiatives across multiple jurisdictions.
Sarah is a member of the National Women's Safety Alliance, the Independent Collective of Survivors, the Polished Man: Polished Innovators Advisory Committee and the Australian Law Reform Commission's Expert Advisory Group for the Inquiry into Justice Responses to Sexual Violence.
Sarah's work has been recognised with an Edna Ryan award and 7News Community Achievement award and a Westpac Social Change Fellowship.
