A life lost and two clashing stories — one from federal officials, another from Minneapolis leaders. We dig into the fatal ICE shooting in Minneapolis and confront the hard questions that surface when an enforcement operation ends in death, video evidence raises doubts, and the legal justification remains out of public view. Our goal is simple and urgent: separate what’s been claimed from what’s been shown, and test each narrative against the standards of evidence, transparency, and community safety.

A City On Edge

There's little I can say again that'll make this situation better, but I do have a message for our community, for our city, and I have a message for ICE. To ICE, get the f out of Minneapolis. We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety if you are doing exactly the opposite.

I gotta say, I admire the man's high. We got a whole bunch of different narratives going on this time. Peace, peace, peace. Peace, family, you're tuned into the sound of the Only One Mic Podcast mic drop show. I'm your host, Carl Gerard. Today's mic drop is about power, accountability, and truth. Because a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis is dead right now after being shot by an ICE agent. And the stories about what happened don't line up. So on January 7th, Rodena Cole Good, a mother of three, was shot and killed during a federal immigration enforcement operation at South Minneapolis. Federal officials say an ICE agent fired in self-defense, claiming Good's vehicle was used as a weapon against officers. And that's the official federal explanation. But here's where it starts to get a little murky. According to the Marshall Project, ICE agents first went to Good's home earlier that morning attempting to detain her. She left before contact was made. The agents then followed her to a nearby parking lot where the shooting happened, and we all saw the video. So here's the key detail. No federal arrest warrant or charging document has been publicly released explaining the legal basis for this enforcement action, and that matters. It matters because when a deadly encounter happens, the public deserves to know why the federal agents were there in the first place. President Trump and the White House officials say good acted aggressively, and Trump even claimed she was violently and viciously trying to run over this ICE officer. The Department of Homeland Security officials even labeled it domestic terrorism. But now we have the Minneapolis leaders saying that the narrative did not match what they saw. Mayor Jacob Fry, after reviewing the video, flat out rejected the federal story and demanded ICE leave the city immediately. The Minneapolis police chief also said the footage does not clearly show goods vehicle being used as a weapon. So when you hear these two things going on, it sounds like two different realities, right? All right. So this matters, y'all. And it matters because it's not about this one shooting. It's about who controls the story when federal when federal power is involved. ICE does not answer the city leadership. And federal investigation should in fact stay federal. And when the legal justification isn't public, trust disappears. And the person at the center of it all, you know, Miss Good, the woman who didn't get a day in court and didn't get any clarity and overall didn't get to go home, she's the one that, you know, and her family has to go through that. So if federal agents can conduct armed operations without publicly showing a warrant, and local leaders say the official story doesn't match the video, then accountability isn't just missing, y'all. It's being avoided. And that's a real issue. Okay? So now I'd like to hear from you. Drop your thoughts in the comments. Does the lack of a publicly released warrant change how you see this case? Who do you believe federal officials or city leaders? And why? And should I be conducting armed operations in U.S. cities at all? And what does justice look like for Renee Good? Look, y'all, we only want real discussions on this one only because if we can't talk about this honestly, then the next headline is already loading.
