Tony Sisk
Hi folks, this is ah Good Game Radio and your host Tony speaking. I'm here with Jaime tonight. um Vance is not able to join us, but Jaime and I are going to ah try our best to fill in for Vance.

00:00:17.41
Tony Sisk
ah So we're starting to we're start things off with... ah Hami just showed me a clip, a YouTube clip of a game that he and his son have played. And this game actually won game of the year, I think, what, two years ago?

00:00:33.94
Jaime G
ah Yeah, it was like the year before.

00:00:34.44
Tony Sisk
Hami, what's the name of the game again?

00:00:37.00
Jaime G
It takes two.

00:00:38.17
Tony Sisk
It takes two. So I'll let Jaime kind of explain what's going on ah with the game, a short overview.

00:00:50.92
Tony Sisk
He just, like I said, he showed me the clip. ah It's actually a pretty disturbing little clip. So we're going to try... in the show notes, add the add this link to a YouTube video so you can follow it and and watch the same clip that that that I watched. I haven't played the game, so ah but this clip will show you everything you need to know about what ah but about the what we're talking about over the next few minutes.

00:01:20.86
Tony Sisk
So, Jaime, go ahead and ah ah and start with what you were you were telling me.

00:01:21.21
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:01:23.78
Jaime G
Well,

00:01:26.85
Jaime G
first, I think I have to apologize to my son. i I think that there's like some emotional damage now done. um We started playing It Takes Two. It starts off as like a, it's a chipper game for the most part.

00:01:41.25
Jaime G
it It has some serious topics. The whole premise of the game I was just explaining to Tony was you have a couple, Cody and May and um well They're getting ready to call it quits on their marriage.

00:01:53.17
Jaime G
So they have a daughter, Rose, who is trying to save their parents' marriage. And somehow she ends up getting this book called The Book of Love, written by Dr. Hakim.

00:02:08.19
Jaime G
um Turns out that The Book of Love... turns into like a little, little person, the bookmark, the bookmarks are like his arms and speaks with like a Spanish accent and and decides to turn Cody and May into two, two toys that Rose was crafting and playing with. Cause she's like kind of creative. She makes her own toys.

00:02:32.93
Jaime G
And so now the story is, you know, you have this married couple who don't get along and they're having to work together go At one point, they start in the shed of the house. Then they travel to like their air air conditioning vents. Then they go into like into like a tree to get into the house. and Anyway, long story short, at some point, Dr.

00:02:53.47
Tony Sisk
Thank you.

00:02:54.86
Jaime G
Hakim says, okay, you want to get rid of this? You guys want to go back into your real body and get divorced? Fine. You have to make your daughter cry. And the two parents' light bulb moment, they're like, hey, Rose has this elephant that she really likes. It's a stuffed little elephant toy, and it's really cute.

00:03:16.30
Jaime G
What's her name? Princess Cute. Yeah, Princess Cute is the elephant elephant's name. And they're like, OK, if we tear apart Princess Cute or Cute the elephant, she's going to cry.

00:03:30.69
Jaime G
you know Problem solved. Okay, so here here's me and my son playing it takes two. And basically, you get to the point where you find her, have an audience with her.

00:03:42.72
Jaime G
And by the way, all the toys and stuff when they're miniature come alive, right? And the elephant is like, you guys look sad. Let me give you a hug. She's kind of chill about this.

00:03:55.40
Jaime G
And Cody's like, yeah, I do need a hug. And finally, Mae's like, hey. Cody, you and I need to like do the deed with her. And so the elephant starts to figure out what's going on. She runs for her life.

00:04:11.75
Jaime G
This is toys, OK? It's like Toy Story. And they finally eventually grab her. And in the process of like pulling her out from a toy dispenser machine, they they tear off her leg.

00:04:24.78
Jaime G
And you know, Tony, this scene is like in my head that the elephant's like, ah, my leg, my leg. they grab her and they're like, we need to throw off the bookshelf.

00:04:32.48
Tony Sisk
Right.

00:04:36.92
Jaime G
um And, you know, as they're but about to throw off the bookshelf, they something happens. They tear off her ear. And then at one point, the elephant's being like, wouldn't it be even more fun if we were playing like jump rope and just I guess she's trying to like say, let's have fun instead of doing this.

00:04:56.67
Jaime G
And they're like, no. Boom. Right?

00:05:00.07
Tony Sisk
right

00:05:00.11
Jaime G
So me and my son are playing this scene. And it's kind of, I don't know if I'm giving it to watch the video. I'm not doing it the due justice that it needs. But we played this the game.

00:05:10.83
Jaime G
And right right as soon as this happened, my son and I, I'm just like, all right, video game. Yeah, move on. Next level. My son's like, dad, I don't feel too well about what we just did. i was like, son, it's a game.

00:05:24.76
Jaime G
Move on. So fast forward like two weeks, right? And I'm tucking my son my ive taken my son in and you know we're praying and we we have this game ah we we play sometimes and it's called high Low Buffalo.

00:05:42.08
Jaime G
Hi, what's the best thing that happened in the day You're low, kind of something that wasn't as as great. And he said, dad, I feel pretty bad about something. He's like, but it didn't happen today. I'm like, yeah, what happened?

00:05:54.86
Jaime G
He's like, well, I still feel pretty bad about what we did too to cute the elephant a couple of weeks ago. I'm like, what?

00:06:05.27
Jaime G
He's like, yeah, i still I still feel pretty bad. I still kind of feel that you know we shouldn't have done that.

00:06:13.60
Jaime G
So and now I think that there's like some some emotional damage there, man.

00:06:19.18
Tony Sisk
You traumatized your kid. I, am You know what? I don't blame him, actually. After watching this clip...

00:06:31.28
Tony Sisk
This is, like, traumatizing, man. This is, like, straight-up murder.

00:06:34.59
Jaime G
I mean, for an eight-year-old, yeah.

00:06:38.59
Tony Sisk
and you're, like...

00:06:39.30
Jaime G
and

00:06:42.21
Tony Sisk
Man.

00:06:42.90
Jaime G
And you know, at no and

00:06:43.36
Tony Sisk
Watch the clip, folks, and you'll see what we're talking about here. It's...

00:06:47.08
Jaime G
at no moment does the elephant try to be like, I'm going to get you or something. the The elephant's is just like, come on, let's just be friends. Let's hug it out.

00:06:58.80
Jaime G
And you're like, man, what am I doing? So... ah

00:07:03.15
Tony Sisk
Dude, it's like...

00:07:03.49
Jaime G
so

00:07:04.77
Tony Sisk
The... the Yeah. It's like... It's... i can't... I mean... i

00:07:16.15
Jaime G
this This thing won game of the year.

00:07:16.17
Tony Sisk
the writers... The writers of the game... The developers...

00:07:19.68
Jaime G
Mm-hmm.

00:07:21.68
Tony Sisk
To put this in the game...

00:07:25.41
Tony Sisk
Like... I know it's this is one of the reasons probably why it won Game of the Year was it because it made you do something that was going to make you very uncomfortable.

00:07:36.28
Tony Sisk
right i don't remember I remember in the – just to comparison say, remember the Call Duty where you're undercover in the Russian airport?

00:07:49.33
Jaime G
Absolutely. modern Modern warfare, I think, too.

00:07:50.85
Tony Sisk
Right? Yeah. And you you're in the airport and they tell you you have to open fire on all the ah the passengers are standing in there, right?

00:07:53.52
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:08:01.17
Jaime G
Civilians. Yeah. Mm-hmm.

00:08:02.75
Tony Sisk
So that thats that was a game that was like you know kind of pushing you to do something that was like, oh, this is kind of like bad. Also, again, Call Duty. Remember the Call of Duty where you had to people

00:08:18.43
Tony Sisk
the prisoner. what it Was it the prisoner himself?

00:08:22.57
Jaime G
Cold War?

00:08:23.93
Tony Sisk
Or was it the prisoner's wife or something? Like you were literally threatening to like kill the wife or something that.

00:08:31.26
Jaime G
I remember this. I can't remember which one it was exactly.

00:08:33.37
Tony Sisk
I can't remember which call to do it it was. But again, both situations, you're you're you're being presented with a very, you know, a situation that just kind of makes you like, I feel dirty for doing this.

00:08:48.94
Tony Sisk
This scene and this this game that you that we is that we're going to have a link to, it takes two, game of the year, cutesy looking game,

00:08:49.29
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:09:00.63
Tony Sisk
It asks you to murder somebody in like a heinous way.

00:09:04.79
Jaime G
ah

00:09:05.33
Tony Sisk
And then to throw it, a toy elephant, right?

00:09:05.68
Jaime G
A toy elephant. A toy elephant. Yeah.

00:09:09.41
Tony Sisk
Yeah. It's a toy elephant with a personality.

00:09:12.78
Jaime G
Right?

00:09:14.26
Tony Sisk
And then in the process, like you're ripping their leg off, you're ripping their ear off. Like you're, you're not only, you know, going to do the deed of killing them, but you're adding like these extra, you know, torture points, really like ripping your, ripping the, the, the, the toy's ear off, um, to make a, to make your kid cry.

00:09:40.83
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:09:42.80
Tony Sisk
Like,

00:09:44.54
Jaime G
yeah

00:09:47.00
Tony Sisk
i

00:09:49.61
Jaime G
That's the other part that you know they're intentionally trying to make their kid cry. and And you know I was like, i don't know if I would have gone that route.

00:09:59.95
Tony Sisk
Right. Well, it, it probably has something to do with, I mean, like they were making her kid cry unintentionally, probably through the whole divorce process.

00:10:08.94
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:10:11.39
Jaime G
yeah

00:10:11.78
Tony Sisk
And like, I'm sure there's some sort of like connection there between like, you know, pain that you're putting your kids through, whatever. But man, you,

00:10:25.78
Tony Sisk
You traumatized your

00:10:28.08
Jaime G
Really? Really? oh And now it's kind of like this point where I try to like not bring it back up with him. Like I haven't,

00:10:38.86
Tony Sisk
you said he actually still hears the little elephant's voice in his head.

00:10:43.17
Jaime G
He does. That's what he said.

00:10:44.12
Tony Sisk
oh my goodness.

00:10:44.61
Jaime G
yeah

00:10:44.76
Tony Sisk
You might need to go see a counselor, dude. Yeah.

00:10:50.33
Jaime G
He did say like, dad, I kind of still like listen to the elephant like asking us not to do this. and i'm And I'm just like, ah it's just a video game. But in turn, I'm like, what did I do?

00:11:05.55
Tony Sisk
Does your wife know about this?

00:11:08.27
Jaime G
No.

00:11:08.97
Tony Sisk
oh

00:11:09.16
Jaime G
Oh, I guess she does now.

00:11:15.60
Tony Sisk
Yeah. She might not be letting you play any games with the Felix for while.

00:11:19.27
Jaime G
And i'm I keep trying to find what this game's rated, man, because it's got to be mature. It's got to be.

00:11:31.00
Jaime G
I think that I failed to realize when we started playing this. No, it says teen. And it says teen for animated blood, comic mischief, fantasy violence, and language.

00:11:38.23
Tony Sisk
Yeah, but...

00:11:46.62
Jaime G
Hmm.

00:11:48.45
Tony Sisk
Violence.

00:11:48.74
Jaime G
I think there's more more than more than just that, my friend.

00:11:53.57
Tony Sisk
Yeah. ah murder it should have expressively said murder was it murder torture you know uh what's the like the common phrase kill torture murder or something like that don't remember that's what the warning should have been on it yeah murder death kill yeah

00:12:09.87
Jaime G
MDK? Murder, death, kill?

00:12:15.99
Jaime G
and And, you know, if you read the description for the game off PlayStation.com, it's pure co-op perfection, gleefully disrupted gameplay, a universal tale of friendships.

00:12:29.52
Tony Sisk
tale of friendship okay

00:12:31.39
Jaime G
Yes. Join forces and go on an adventure that you'll treasure together.

00:12:41.41
Tony Sisk
i mean i guess you know there's no bonds built that are better i mean tighter than murdering kids toys

00:12:53.74
Jaime G
Yeah. Hey, you know what? I'm just realizing this because I've never gone to the PlayStation.com web page to look for this game. there You can actually send a friend a friend pass so they can play the game with you, even if they don't own the game.

00:13:11.79
Jaime G
Say, what?

00:13:14.44
Tony Sisk
Well, after seeing the clip, I don't think I want to play the game.

00:13:20.74
Jaime G
it's Okay, you know, cute the elephant mischief aside, it's a it's a i can see how this game won game of the year. Honestly, it's really... but every Every single time that you're like, okay, I've played this game, I've done a lot, but I can go further, something else happens.

00:13:44.78
Jaime G
it is It is a great game, and it's actually made me wonder if split fiction is like this. um This game is so creative and unique, man. I mean, I'm coming like super late to the party on this one, but it but it was like um you know one of the free Muttling games not too long ago, so we downloaded it.

00:14:06.87
Jaime G
It is such a worthwhile experience. You have to be a little bit mature. Be careful if you're if you're playing it with an eight-year-old. But it's it's so worthwhile. i'm so I mean, I feel bad that I missed this when it first released.

00:14:20.42
Jaime G
Because ah it released in 2021, just so you know.

00:14:24.46
Tony Sisk
Was it that long ago?

00:14:26.18
Jaime G
Uh-huh.

00:14:27.98
Tony Sisk
Wow. I guess so, huh?

00:14:34.93
Tony Sisk
Yeah, I mean, I've just never played it. I don't really have anybody to play it with that I would want to play it with. Yeah.

00:14:41.10
Jaime G
i I thought i so I had a little companion and and he was always like, hey, dad, is there co-op game we can play? I like, hey, there's this game. Let's go check it out.

00:14:50.70
Tony Sisk
Yeah.

00:14:52.51
Jaime G
And again, based on the rating, i would have been like, yeah, you know, this seems fine.

00:14:59.93
Jaime G
Well, no.

00:15:00.31
Tony Sisk
Yeah.

00:15:02.79
Jaime G
yeah

00:15:02.99
Tony Sisk
Yeah. What other games have pushed those boundaries of like

00:15:10.94
Tony Sisk
something that's socially not accepted? Oh, GTA, right? That's like the game that does it all. Yeah.

00:15:20.59
Jaime G
GTA was very controversial, like around like San Andreas came out. And maybe even before that, but maybe that's when I started paying attention. As far as that, people are like, oh, this game, you can take people out of their cars, take their their vehicle and you know beat them up. And man, that's nothing today.

00:15:41.29
Tony Sisk
So is there's a funny story. ah One of the guys I work with, he was playing GTA Online, right?

00:15:50.15
Jaime G
Okay. Yeah.

00:15:50.85
Tony Sisk
And so he's like, man, Tony, have you played the GTA Online? I'm like, no, I haven't played GTA Online. I played the main game. He's like, it's really cool.

00:16:03.92
Tony Sisk
He's like, I'm having a lot of fun with it. I'm like, okay. So a few days later, I asked him, Hey, still playing GTA Online? He's like, dude, let me tell you, I was playing, and it's so real.

00:16:20.11
Tony Sisk
like I'm standing there on the street corner, and this guy rolls up in this fancy car, and he's like, you want to go for a ride? I'm like, sure. So we we go, we drive around the the city and we're just, you know, we're just having a grand time. And then he's like, hey, you want to go back to my place?

00:16:40.23
Tony Sisk
I'm like, yeah, sure. So they go back to the guy's apartment and he's like, I don't know what you can do. And he's like, but the guy i was talking to, he's like, Tony, I think that guy was grooming me.

00:16:57.50
Tony Sisk
yeah He's like, whoa, wait a minute. What's going on here? and i Yeah. I'm like, probably so, Dan. oh I said his name.

00:17:09.83
Tony Sisk
I know there's going a lot of people in here that's like, don't know who that is. No, I'll delete it. I'll delete the name.

00:17:17.59
Jaime G
yeah The magic of editing.

00:17:19.41
Tony Sisk
But, right, the magic of editing. But, yeah. um

00:17:27.91
Jaime G
Well, I don't know.

00:17:28.68
Tony Sisk
that And he doesn't, you know, this person doesn't necessarily play a lot of games. So he was like, you know, he was fascinated by all the things you could do, but then got caught off guard by all the things you can do.

00:17:45.04
Jaime G
I don't know, man. i I want to say that I did play Grand Theft Auto. I might have played Grand Theft Auto 5 when it first came out on PlayStation 3, but I think as I moved on to PlayStation 4 and now 5, I've never really kind of kind of gone back and played it.

00:18:02.59
Tony Sisk
Well, the new one's supposed to be coming out next year, so.

00:18:03.12
Jaime G
Which... Yeah. Now, let me ask you this. Speaking of this, what's what's currently in your backlog, Tony? I was... I need your advice. I need to figure out what's the next thing I'm going to play.

00:18:17.76
Jaime G
um If anybody listened to the last episode, I mentioned that I started playing ah the original Dead Stranding. Dead Stranding 2 recently came out. It's it's gotten you know some generally positive reception from a lot of ah outlets, which I'm now going to question that because I think people overrate Kojima games more than they should.

00:18:45.41
Jaime G
um Anyway, the point is, I started playing Death Stranding 2, and I am just like, I'm sorry, Death Stranding 1. And I'm like, this is just a walking simulator.

00:19:00.26
Jaime G
There's nothing much more to this.

00:19:02.61
Tony Sisk
Right. Well, I mean, we talked about the last episode. I mean, I had not played the game because I'd heard those criticisms that it was just a walking simulator. There wasn't much to it.

00:19:12.59
Jaime G
Oh, dude, it it's so true.

00:19:13.26
Tony Sisk
So, of course, you know, we talked about how like we tried to play it last week and it ended up putting us to sleep.

00:19:13.60
Jaime G
The rumors are true.

00:19:19.23
Jaime G
And we both fell asleep.

00:19:21.15
Tony Sisk
and So I'm not surprised to hear that, you know, you tried to continue on playing and that you just weren't impressed with it. So...

00:19:31.03
Jaime G
Uh huh.

00:19:32.76
Tony Sisk
I mean, i don't I don't know if I will continue to try to play it.

00:19:38.21
Tony Sisk
We'll see, but I might just move on something else like Banishers of New Eden. That's a new PS Plus game this month.

00:19:50.58
Tony Sisk
And it's got an okay score, so I might check that out I already downloaded it, so I might play that.

00:19:56.00
Jaime G
you

00:19:58.75
Tony Sisk
You know, and well, I think that the the new Mafia game is coming out on like August eighth I might pick that up. I want to pick that up. So that just leaves like I don't want to get too invested with anything because we're only, what, 17 days away from that?

00:20:16.91
Tony Sisk
18 days where they ah away from that?

00:20:17.22
Jaime G
yeah

00:20:18.90
Tony Sisk
Plus I'll be out of town next week. I'm going to a gaming convention and in Indianapolis. It's a board game convention, but I'm going with one of my...

00:20:26.92
Jaime G
Yeah, ah you usually go to one.

00:20:27.19
Tony Sisk
ah friends

00:20:28.84
Jaime G
Don't don't you also do like a yearly like we weekend where you go with some friends and just play games?

00:20:37.80
Tony Sisk
yeah those are the like tennessee game days which are like twice a year and uh oh that's like two or three days you know just gaming board gaming and uh locally here in nashville uh but this one is gin con 2025

00:20:49.05
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:20:56.79
Tony Sisk
And it's going to be like 120,000 people and it's in Indianapolis. So we've got the hotel room. I'm going with one of the guys from my church, a small group.

00:21:09.24
Tony Sisk
ah So we're going to just go up there and hang out for four days and buy a bunch of games and play a bunch of games and have fun.

00:21:20.54
Jaime G
OK, OK. My mind is here just going in a bunch of different directions. So you go to the to a gaming event

00:21:28.82
Tony Sisk
Yep.

00:21:30.90
Jaime G
and you buy board games.

00:21:34.44
Tony Sisk
Yep.

00:21:36.15
Jaime G
And do you play these board games that you buy with but just random people? Or do you like or do you like play?

00:21:40.47
Tony Sisk
You can. Yeah.

00:21:43.94
Jaime G
Are there like stations with like board games that you might already have?

00:21:49.11
Tony Sisk
That too. So how it works is, so how it's set up.

00:21:50.57
Jaime G
Okay.

00:21:54.72
Tony Sisk
They have ah the main hall, which is called the Expo Center. And it's basically just a huge building, um like ah like a warehouse-sized building. And you go in, and ah that's where all the vendors and publishers and stuff present, ah usually new games that they're they're bringing to market.

00:22:05.68
Jaime G
ah huh

00:22:18.73
Tony Sisk
right So you're going to see a lot of new products that aren't available to buy yet. And they'll be doing demos of those. um You can just walk up and like sign up for a demo.

00:22:32.52
Tony Sisk
um Or you might have a reservation for a demo. And the demo might be like 15 to 20 minutes. right uh whether you might have like more extensive demos which are like an hour long or two hours long where they show you how to play the entire game usually you have to have a reservation or ticket for that um so you do that uh there's there's vendors you know you know us retailers that are selling products and stuff like that games that have already been released or

00:22:50.03
Jaime G
yeah

00:23:08.76
Tony Sisk
A lot of these games that they're going to be showing at the convention that are new will also be releasing at the convention. That'll be their first opportunity to buy. So that's why it's so popular.

00:23:20.05
Tony Sisk
Like people are getting the first shot at buying the newest games.

00:23:20.19
Jaime G
yeah

00:23:24.58
Tony Sisk
um So you can do that. And then outside the, what that's the main expo. Outside the expo, um they have more halls and they have like tournaments that are running on different games.

00:23:43.56
Tony Sisk
They have just open play areas where it's like, you know, a huge room where people are playing. different games and usually you sign up for those like ahead of time that way you know at one o'clock this particular game is going to kick off and you're going to go and you're going to play and usually you want to do like games that are like you want that have been out or might be new and it's an opportunity for you to to sit down and learn it they might have somebody that's going to walk everybody through the game then they have panels um where people are talking about different aspects of gaming

00:24:17.60
Jaime G
Uh-huh.

00:24:20.06
Tony Sisk
like I actually have a reservation for ah panel called Christianity and Board Gaming. so So I signed up for that panel.

00:24:26.43
Jaime G
and

00:24:29.51
Tony Sisk
I'm going to go to that and see what you know

00:24:33.60
Tony Sisk
what really they're getting into and with with that topic. I know that one of the guys that I play with in Clarksville, his church runs like – uh, an outreach with board games, right?

00:24:48.97
Tony Sisk
So he runs it.

00:24:49.88
Jaime G
yeah

00:24:50.05
Tony Sisk
So I'm, I'm thinking maybe it'd be something like that, how setting those things up or, or examples of how they, they do it. Uh, but there's all kinds of other panels, like how to develop a board game, how to get your game published, um, you know, the different mechanics of, you know, of board gaming and stuff. How did it, it's just all these different steps.

00:25:14.06
Tony Sisk
So you have different panels, For all that. And then, you know, at night, the expo shuts down at like six. And then, but the rest of the convention might still be going on for 24 hours. Like they'll have like all night sessions of different things.

00:25:34.42
Jaime G
And I seem to remember that you and Vance, whenever you went to PAX a couple of years ago, you guys were like even making connections and friends even like at the airport, right?

00:25:44.80
Jaime G
like I wouldn't be surprised if you go to the hotel and there's people just there on tables like playing board games.

00:25:45.63
Tony Sisk
Right, yeah.

00:25:50.74
Tony Sisk
Yeah, yeah. So there'll be um the hotels there in Indianapolis, a lot of them are actually connected to the convention center. So yeah, there'll be people playing you know at the hotels.

00:26:01.44
Jaime G
Uh-huh.

00:26:06.36
Tony Sisk
would be ah The board gaming industry itself or the hobby itself has a ton of creators doing, you know, content and stuff like that. So there'll be lots of meetups and stuff like that. I won't be doing any of that stuff.

00:26:21.34
Tony Sisk
i I will be meeting up probably with friends that I know from around the country, from I've played with before and other things.

00:26:26.72
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:26:28.95
Tony Sisk
You know, and some of those guys have like a,

00:26:35.82
Tony Sisk
what he call it?

00:26:38.65
Tony Sisk
Airbnbs and stuff that they rented.

00:26:41.45
Jaime G
right

00:26:41.92
Tony Sisk
So I may go out to dinner with them go hang out with them, then go back to my hotel. or My hotel ah is a few miles away from the convention center because it's way cheaper.

00:26:54.57
Tony Sisk
So, but there'll be people there too, because hotel has like a little mini convention hall. So like there'll be people playing there too.

00:27:00.29
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:27:02.46
Tony Sisk
it it It basically takes over the city of Indianapolis because there's so many people there. But, um but yeah, that that's in two weeks. So that's a lot of fun. I don't go every year, but it's been a couple years since I've been, and I wanted to take, I wanted to take a,

00:27:24.51
Tony Sisk
My buddy from a church group, so he's never been, so we're going.

00:27:30.50
Jaime G
That's pretty awesome, man.

00:27:33.10
Tony Sisk
Yep.

00:27:33.23
Jaime G
um and ten I'm seriously thinking like that is that is cool. like I usually go to just like events here that are locally in the area. Like last year I went to F2Con.

00:27:45.47
Tony Sisk
Mm-hmm.

00:27:46.36
Jaime G
I went to like the Music City Multicon. and And I have fun with those, but I can't imagine like, you know, the mentally the experience of like going to a site and, you know,

00:28:00.00
Jaime G
living it like overnight because again the event doesn't finish when the venue closes right there's a lot of people a lot of community

00:28:06.94
Tony Sisk
Right now.

00:28:10.76
Tony Sisk
Yeah. lot of community.

00:28:11.83
Jaime G
it's gotta of be a different experience

00:28:15.07
Tony Sisk
Yeah. You're going to meet, you know, meet a lot of friends. Like, you know, I have a play group that I haven't played with in like five months. are probably mad at me. We should play on Friday nights.

00:28:25.01
Jaime G
but

00:28:26.12
Tony Sisk
um

00:28:26.15
Jaime G
yeah

00:28:27.55
Tony Sisk
But they, um they go to the Tennessee game days. That's really the only place that they've gone. ah When I joined their group, they were, you know they were like five guys, four guys that had played with the, you know, board games together for like 20 years.

00:28:47.36
Tony Sisk
And they didn't really venture out of their Friday night program. game night which was at one the same house at the same time same game you know they played battle star galactica and a couple you know a few other games but they didn't really go beyond that and when i joined their group um they were friends with my wife from high school and my wife actually connected me with them so i joined their group started playing and then i'm like

00:29:13.81
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:29:21.71
Tony Sisk
there's this Tennessee game. They're saying you guys want to go and they're, Oh no, no, no, no. no We don't, we don't, we play Friday nights. It's what we play. We don't like going out and, you know, playing with other people. So, okay. I'm like, okay.

00:29:34.74
Tony Sisk
So the week of the event, you know, when the guys texted me, he's like, Hey, are you still going to go that thing? I'm like, yeah. He's like, do you mind if I tag along with you?

00:29:47.73
Tony Sisk
um yeah, sure. Come on. So, he commits to coming with me. And then since he committed to come over with me, everybody else was like, I guess I'll go to, we'll just check it out. So we go, we show up the morning of the event.

00:30:02.49
Tony Sisk
We have breakfast together, like a first watch or something like that. Then we go over and they played and they loved it. They don't miss it. Ever since then, they do not miss it.

00:30:11.31
Jaime G
Oh, wow.

00:30:13.02
Tony Sisk
like There's two times a year. And it's gotten so popular that you have to have a reservation now to actually get into it and by to and buy a ticket.

00:30:18.50
Jaime G
Right.

00:30:20.89
Jaime G
Wow.

00:30:21.97
Tony Sisk
So ah they make sure they they're locked in. As soon as it becomes available, they play. And they've met so many people playing there that now their their group has expanded from that four people to more than that.

00:30:37.83
Tony Sisk
And they have groups that they play with, you know, outside of that group. And so it's it's funny because like, yeah, that social aspect. And that's why you that's why I like board gaming.

00:30:51.15
Tony Sisk
We don't talk about board gaming a whole lot on the show, ah but it is like my, you know, it's just as much of a passion for me as a video game, right?

00:30:56.37
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:31:04.48
Tony Sisk
And the reason I love, board gaming so much is is the social aspect of it. It's like you're with somebody face-to-face and you're playing and you have a conversation and and you just have fun and then just you're just doing something together with other people.

00:31:26.13
Tony Sisk
And you can turn into a big event like, you know oh, let's have dinner. We like we came over the one-day beer place. you know There was four or five of us. you know You have food, you have drink, you play a bunch of different games.

00:31:40.75
Tony Sisk
And then you know it's a fun as social aspect. And it really builds long-lasting friendships too. like Most of our friendships in life are here today, gone tomorrow sort of thing.

00:31:54.28
Tony Sisk
But the... the board gaming friendships, I don't know, they, they tend to just to last longer. I like those, the guys I play with on Friday night through my wife, you know, uh, I've been friends with them. It's been like 10 years now and we do other things other than board games. Right. So it's like, um, and then my other friend group that I, uh, game was sometimes on Wednesday nights or guys that I've met in board gaming.

00:32:27.78
Tony Sisk
And that group's probably been, those guys I've probably known for 15 years. So, and we do all kinds of stuff together. So it's like board gaming really is a really great way of like,

00:32:42.49
Tony Sisk
establishing friendships and just you can keep them going because you have a reason to get together right you don't it's not like let's get together and have dinner and you know find try and force some conversation or something like that it's like no it's a reason that that to get together and it's like it's fun and it you know so i love board gaming so

00:33:05.65
Jaime G
Well, okay, so I've always known that you're into board gaming. I mean, i you had me over for one one evening that I think I got crushed. I can't...

00:33:17.33
Jaime G
What game was it that we played?

00:33:17.40
Tony Sisk
was probably terraforming Mars.

00:33:19.98
Jaime G
I think it was like that one. I got crushed.

00:33:21.84
Tony Sisk
Yeah.

00:33:22.15
Jaime G
I mean, I had... I had no clue what I was doing after like the first three turns. was like, Oh, okay. I think I got the hang of it. But those first two turns is like, we're critical to kind of like setting up your gameplay for the rest of the, of the match.

00:33:39.72
Tony Sisk
Right.

00:33:40.28
Jaime G
Um, but I do, I have, I do know that you, that you, you know, you play board games and that's how you got to meet Beely. Um, who then went on to organize like several ah gaming tournaments here in the area.

00:33:53.94
Tony Sisk
ah yeah Exactly, yeah. Beely, who's you know the big tournament guy himself, the fighting game tournament guy, and and his big tournament, i mean that was through board gaming.

00:34:01.15
Jaime G
Uh-huh.

00:34:04.31
Tony Sisk
It's like, you know...

00:34:04.93
Jaime G
Yep.

00:34:07.33
Jaime G
Yep, totally remember this.

00:34:07.86
Tony Sisk
And board gaming includes things like card games too. So that just, but yeah, I could talk forever about board games.

00:34:11.51
Jaime G
Uh-huh.

00:34:15.49
Tony Sisk
If we actually talked about board games, man, I could carry the conversation more often than not on these board games. But yeah.

00:34:24.38
Jaime G
Well, I went, I mean, yeah i guess I never did board gaming like that, but I did do arcade gaming back in the day. And ah did I tell you, think I might have told you that I recently took my son to Game Galaxy here in in town.

00:34:40.74
Tony Sisk
Yes.

00:34:41.34
Jaime G
does Yes. Well, while we were there, there was like an... ah there was like a ah tournament going on for Tekken and Street Fighter VI, and they were like streaming it on Twitch.

00:34:53.98
Jaime G
So I started like watching them, and, you know, it kind of reminded me, maybe not to the same level that what you're saying, but back in the day when you would go and play to the arcades, you got to the point where you got to know some people.

00:35:08.37
Jaime G
You also developed some like rivalries, and I mean, to at one point in time, some friends of mine were calling me, and they're like, you know um okay, this guy, i never I never knew his real name, but he had a nickname. We called him The Horse.

00:35:25.66
Jaime G
I don't know why, ah but people would one time call, well, more than once, they would call me and say, yo, The Horse that is at the arcade ah at so-and-so.

00:35:27.15
Tony Sisk
yeah

00:35:35.56
Jaime G
Let's go. So we would go only just to play that this one guy. And and and i um I remember we kind of had like this like rivalry going on, right? And people would do those things.

00:35:48.03
Tony Sisk
Right.

00:35:48.11
Jaime G
um

00:35:50.05
Tony Sisk
Oh, yeah. There's an aspect of it, too. Like.

00:35:55.11
Tony Sisk
can keep kind of heated. like the competitive juices can get going, especially like, you know, if you've been playing a game and you've been like, uh, you've been losing for a while and it's like, okay, you can, your options are one, just quit playing the game, ah which means you're probably not going to come over and play or to get good and win.

00:35:57.12
Jaime G
yeah

00:36:15.40
Jaime G
Right.

00:36:20.86
Tony Sisk
Right. So it's like, yeah, I, uh,

00:36:27.32
Tony Sisk
yeah I get those like those moments where it's like you actually win. like More often than not, like you're not going to win. You're going to be like second or third or fourth or fifth or whatever. you know But want every once in while, you you you might actually come out on top.

00:36:43.75
Tony Sisk
And that's a good feeling. um So yeah, that's ah to win one of these games.

00:36:50.45
Jaime G
Right.

00:36:52.06
Tony Sisk
It's fun. So...

00:36:54.63
Tony Sisk
so

00:36:55.17
Jaime G
Man. Well, I'm excited to hear about where where you're going. What happens when you go to this event, man? Like, keep take some pictures. keep Maybe start a ah ah video blog and we and we can all experience this together, Tony.

00:37:09.51
Tony Sisk
Right. Yeah, I'll take some pictures for sure. um But yeah, I mean, I'm going to have fun just showing buddy around. He's never been to something like this before, so it's all brand new to him. He's going to be blown away by you know just how...

00:37:25.30
Tony Sisk
gigantic it is. It's so big that it it it actually overflows into Lucas Oil Stadium, which is where the Indianapolis Colts play football.

00:37:34.60
Jaime G
yeah

00:37:34.75
Tony Sisk
it's ah It's connected. so ah They'll have it set up down where they usually have the football field. like There'll be venues and stuff going on there.

00:37:47.64
Tony Sisk
it's so it's ah It's a mega mega convention. It's one of the biggest in the country.

00:37:55.66
Jaime G
Okay. Well, for those who are in the Nashville area, again, Nashville is known for it's um How do I say this?

00:38:06.10
Jaime G
For its music, for our Nashville hot chicken, um but for gaming, i just so everyone knows, I'm going to do a PSA right now.

00:38:07.91
Tony Sisk
Mm-hmm. Yep. ye

00:38:16.90
Jaime G
September 5th through the 7th is going to be F2Con game on ah on a, I think they used to call it game on a rig. Now they're calling it game on a gig.

00:38:28.40
Jaime G
But anyway, F2Con is going to be here. Uh, it's, it happens in Clarksville, Tennessee. They actually do video game tournaments. There's like a decent prize pot of like a thousand dollars on certain games. If you win, I went there last year.

00:38:43.04
Jaime G
i started playing against this, this one guy, we had a couple of matches. I got some games. He ultimately got more games than I did. And then I realized he's like pro gamer. So i was like, oh, okay.

00:38:56.42
Jaime G
i got I mean, super chill guy.

00:38:56.46
Tony Sisk
Yeah.

00:38:58.59
Jaime G
you know he It's one of those guys who could have crushed you from round one, but I think he started like increasing his level until he said, okay, this is where i need to be at to just you know consistently win.

00:39:09.99
Jaime G
um Then in November is when we have the multi multi Music City Multicon. Tony, if you remember, there is board gaming at this event. ah Last year, they didn't have FGC stuff. They did have... um retro arcades.

00:39:28.26
Jaime G
So I mean, those are things that maybe we can try to hit up in the area. Or if anybody here is in the area, let us know if you're going to go. And we can probably you know organize like some food or something that to do while we're there.

00:39:40.24
Tony Sisk
Right.

00:39:40.29
Jaime G
um um

00:39:41.98
Tony Sisk
is that in Lebanon?

00:39:44.90
Tony Sisk
Was that the one that was Lebanon?

00:39:45.11
Jaime G
the Yes, that's the one that's in Lebanon. Like I said, the other one, the F2Con is in Clarksville. So they're fun. I like going to them.

00:39:56.89
Jaime G
I do video games. That's that's my jam. um But I was going to ask you something, Tony, before I forget. usually Usually, you have a pretty good pulse on games to play.

00:40:11.39
Jaime G
So I was going to tell you a couple of games I have in my backlog. And I was going to tell you ask you to see if you can recommend what to play. I've got a little bit of a ban opening since I decided to stop playing Dead Stranding, man.

00:40:27.66
Jaime G
All right. Check this out. Banishers, you just recommended that game. All right. How about Resident Evil 7?

00:40:38.79
Jaime G
Cyberpunk 2077, it just made it on the PlayStation catalog. Or maybe it's been there for a while, I just noticed it. Or Dave the Diver. If you had to invest your time on one of them, which one would you go for?

00:40:49.54
Tony Sisk
Oh.

00:40:53.42
Tony Sisk
Dave the Diver.

00:40:56.06
Jaime G
Somehow. Okay, I threw that one in there thinking, let's see if Tony picks that one out.

00:41:03.52
Tony Sisk
Dave the Diver is so fun. That's the one to play, man. Out of those three choices, it's... um

00:41:15.32
Tony Sisk
I don't know if you've heard to me talked about but butll talk about it before, but Dave the Diver is you you get hired by your buddy to come down and help run a sushi restaurant.

00:41:26.10
Jaime G
Yeah, yeah.

00:41:28.24
Tony Sisk
And your job is to bring in the fish. And so you dive. And you can like, you have a certain amount of oxygen you can have.

00:41:39.88
Tony Sisk
and you try to collect, he'll give you like a quest, like, oh, I need like this many of this type of fish, or, you know, try and get um ah like a shark or something like that, and your job is to go get it.

00:41:51.52
Tony Sisk
So you go dive, and you only do like two dives. You can do it a morning dive and like an afternoon dive, and as every time you go, you you can, you get like, it's an RPG almost. It's like you get better equipment. You you find better equipment. and You buy better equipment.

00:42:09.76
Tony Sisk
um so your rig can get better and better and better. So you can stay down longer. You can go deeper where the like more exotic fish are.

00:42:21.86
Tony Sisk
ah you You can find treasure. There's other people that will give quests like, hey, there's there was an ancient aquatic civilization down there, so you can find any evidence of it. So you start doing these side quests, and you start making more money.

00:42:38.47
Tony Sisk
And then when you aren't diving, you go to the restaurant and you help your friend run the restaurant.

00:42:46.30
Jaime G
Ah.

00:42:46.29
Tony Sisk
ah And you basically work the bar. It's a sushi bar. So. ah there'll be people that come in and they'll say, Oh, um um give me this type of sushi. So you go and you, you complete the order and then there'll be somebody else at the end of the bar that wants, you know, a refill on their drink.

00:43:09.97
Tony Sisk
So there's, there's these timers that are going off. So you're trying to go back and forth between the customers and complete all the orders.

00:43:20.52
Tony Sisk
you can make more money and the more money that the restaurant makes, It allows you to buy more staff. So the more staff you have, then it makes it easier on you.

00:43:33.48
Tony Sisk
But it gets kind of crazy, like trying to juggle all these. It's like two two games mashed together that make one like actually very fun game. So you're going to love it. It's a fantastic game.

00:43:47.09
Jaime G
OK, well, didit let me i just ask you, did you complete the campaign or just played it enough to kind of get the whole gist of this?

00:43:47.22
Tony Sisk
Dave the Diver.

00:43:54.62
Tony Sisk
I played it, don't know, I played like 12 or 15 hours into it. So, I mean, I didn't complete the campaign because there was, you know, another game that came up or something like that.

00:43:59.08
Jaime G
OK.

00:44:05.63
Tony Sisk
But it's definitely a game like ah i would highly recommend. ah deaf And I want to get it on my Steam Deck because it's just a good, good game. It is so good.

00:44:16.74
Jaime G
all right, well, I'm going to have you know visit ah people coming over to my place starting tomorrow for about ah a week. So it's probably a game that I can download and play my PS portal.

00:44:30.90
Jaime G
That way, i don't i mean I won't have access to my gaming system.

00:44:32.92
Tony Sisk
Perfect. Perfect. That'd be perfect.

00:44:35.38
Jaime G
But if it's something I can play on the go like that, why not?

00:44:40.11
Tony Sisk
Oh, yeah. Definitely.

00:44:42.09
Jaime G
All right. So somehow, man, I threw that that option thinking, tony Tony's probably going to pick this one. Like, I knew you were probably going to say that.

00:44:53.35
Tony Sisk
Right? I mean, hey. I was skeptical of this game. I'm like... and Until I played it and then it just blew me away. It was like, wow, this game is really, really good. ah like And there's been so many like expansions to it too, I think. like Godzilla expansion, i don't know what that's about. but like I'm waiting to get it all on Steam Deck though because it's a game that's so perfect for portable gameplay.

00:45:22.77
Jaime G
Right.

00:45:25.09
Jaime G
I will play it, man. I mean, definitely, I'll download it today because I i don't think i' goingnna have access to my gaming console as easily for the next couple of days.

00:45:36.59
Tony Sisk
Yeah.

00:45:37.25
Jaime G
But I'll let you know. That's OK. That is going to be my my go to game for the next week.

00:45:42.84
Tony Sisk
Okay. Yeah, you should like it.

00:45:44.36
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:45:46.17
Tony Sisk
Like i said, it's great.

00:45:46.85
Jaime G
yeah

00:45:49.51
Tony Sisk
All right. What else we got? We're at our 45. We're right at our end of our time. at least you got something else.

00:45:58.39
Jaime G
we I have one one last thing. All right.

00:46:01.62
Tony Sisk
Okay.

00:46:04.50
Jaime G
With the Fantastic Four opening up in four days, are you going to be watching it?

00:46:09.09
Tony Sisk
Oh, prediction time.

00:46:12.19
Jaime G
Yeah, right? we can't and we We can't avoid this. Are you going to be there on opening night or are you going to be there maybe some other night?

00:46:22.27
Tony Sisk
i have my tickets for opening night. Locked in. They've been locked in for like two weeks.

00:46:30.07
Jaime G
Okay, well, I haven't because, again, as I said before, I will have guests over.

00:46:37.26
Tony Sisk
Mm-hmm.

00:46:38.83
Jaime G
My family has told me that over the weekend, they're going to go hang out with like some friend, and you know they're gonna my son and their son are going to hang out. So I'm going to have a couple hours to myself. I'm like, do I just simply go watch it by myself, or do tell the family, do you want to come with me?

00:46:58.43
Jaime G
That's a different story. Predictions.

00:46:59.83
Tony Sisk
Yeah.

00:47:00.31
Jaime G
Tony, is this movie going to fizzle? You know? Or is it going to be fantastic?

00:47:10.42
Tony Sisk
Hmm. See, I just, I don't think it's going to fizzle. I think it'll actually have a better, like, People respond to it better than the Thunderbolts because it's a Fantastic Four.

00:47:26.96
Jaime G
No, Fantastic Four doesn't have the same cloth, man.

00:47:27.26
Tony Sisk
and ah but it's yeah yeah But it's got Pedro Pascal. So he's going to bring a little bit there.

00:47:37.13
Jaime G
two What is it with Pedro Pascal? He seems to be in everything right now.

00:47:41.48
Tony Sisk
He's in everything. Probably he's saturated. The market is too saturated with Pedro Pascal. But ah I don't know.

00:47:47.44
Jaime G
Uh-huh.

00:47:50.08
Tony Sisk
I don't. ah

00:47:53.51
Tony Sisk
I think the reception going to be good.

00:47:57.55
Tony Sisk
We'll say like. a

00:48:01.41
Tony Sisk
I'll give it an 85% Rotten Tomatoes score. 85%.

00:48:04.96
Tony Sisk
eighty five

00:48:05.28
Jaime G
Man, you know that this that the the next phase of the Marvel movies hinges upon this, right? Because the Avengers are... Sorry, not the Avengers.

00:48:15.93
Jaime G
The Fantastic are going to be a huge part of you know the next phase.

00:48:21.42
Tony Sisk
Okay.

00:48:22.05
Jaime G
next phase

00:48:23.57
Tony Sisk
um ah so i'mma so I'm still saying 85. That's like a middle of the road score, I think. I don't think it's going to be bad. i's just I don't think it's going to be epic.

00:48:39.64
Tony Sisk
I think it's going be 85.

00:48:43.19
Jaime G
85. Oh, OK. I'm honestly expecting like an 80 out of this.

00:48:51.52
Tony Sisk
Okay, so not not far off.

00:48:51.88
Jaime G
I don't think Marvel has put too much out there little recently. um I don't know.

00:49:05.61
Jaime G
I think it's going to be probably in the eighty s

00:49:09.49
Tony Sisk
I...

00:49:13.47
Tony Sisk
Yeah, I mean, it's How much is it going to make? I don't know. That's a hard one to get, the gauge.

00:49:19.20
Jaime G
i don't it I don't, okay.

00:49:20.30
Tony Sisk
It's not a billion-dollar movie, though. It's not a billion-dollar movie.

00:49:22.30
Jaime G
i I had high such high hopes for Thunderbolts, and it really didn't deliver. um

00:49:30.03
Tony Sisk
Well, I had higher hopes. And it did nothing. It didn't even make $400 million. It was a flop financially.

00:49:36.36
Jaime G
all so so Okay, so here's the question. Do you see Fantastic Four? I mean, just prediction, all right?

00:49:47.42
Jaime G
bringing in more money than Thunderbolts. Because again, Thunderbolts I thought was lower scale, but good movie.

00:49:58.32
Tony Sisk
It's going to bring in more money than Thunderbolts.

00:50:01.09
Jaime G
Why?

00:50:02.36
Tony Sisk
I don't know.

00:50:05.33
Tony Sisk
I'm just saying it's going to be.

00:50:05.89
Jaime G
keep going to why.

00:50:06.40
Tony Sisk
good end

00:50:06.73
Jaime G
Why?

00:50:07.12
Tony Sisk
i mean 400 million is a low bar. When you're talking. Summer. Action. um

00:50:20.35
Tony Sisk
Like. It's got to make 400 million. If it doesn't make 400 million. Then the MCU is dead.

00:50:27.17
Jaime G
Okay, well, Thunderbolts officially to date has grossed $382 million. so So right below the $400 million mark.

00:50:39.10
Tony Sisk
It didn't, it and basically broke even. Basically. I think it needed 380 to break even.

00:50:45.16
Jaime G
I agree. i agree. So $382 million. Okay. I would not personally, Jaime G speaking,

00:50:56.91
Jaime G
I don't think that the Avengers, I keep saying Avengers, that the Fantastic Four have more screen presence than what the Thunderbolts should have had.

00:51:07.94
Jaime G
they've They've always been like a, they were always like hyped up as one of the Marvel biggest teams, but they're like second tier really.

00:51:15.02
Tony Sisk
Well, here's... Well, Thunderbolts did not... Thunderbolts, when you go to the movie theater, it's like... It wasn't big enough to where the movie theater was going to put it in every theater.

00:51:30.07
Tony Sisk
right Some movies are so big that all other movies are just canceled out.

00:51:30.30
Jaime G
Yeah.

00:51:37.75
Tony Sisk
Like every theater.

00:51:38.51
Jaime G
Yeah. Mm-hmm.

00:51:39.43
Tony Sisk
Like the Murfreesboro Theater... Here's the thing about the Murfreesboro Theater... It's nine screens, which is ridiculous considering how big Murfreesboro is.

00:51:46.15
Jaime G
right

00:51:50.31
Tony Sisk
right Franklin, which is half the size of Murfreesboro, has a 16 screen, maybe it's a 23 screen theater. Murfreesboro has a nine screen theater.

00:52:04.31
Tony Sisk
Right? So

00:52:04.59
Jaime G
Yeah. yeah

00:52:06.00
Tony Sisk
ah ridiculously small. And I know there's a movie theater like a mile away, also owned by AMC, but it's like 20 years old and it's a dump. Nobody wants to go there to see movie.

00:52:17.44
Tony Sisk
um

00:52:19.90
Tony Sisk
The fact that, you know, ah this particular theater in Mercerboro is so small, their nine screen one, that means that they don't have enough screens to show bunch of different movies.

00:52:32.27
Tony Sisk
So, for a super hyped movie, say like a infinity war, right? Infinity war would have, they would have had every screen playing infinity war, every screen.

00:52:43.09
Jaime G
Totally. Yeah.

00:52:47.13
Tony Sisk
So with thunder boats, when we went to watch thunder boats at this theater,

00:52:53.13
Tony Sisk
it was usually they'll have the Dolby and then the they might have two other decently sized screens that running the regular digital format, you know, alternating times.

00:53:07.67
Tony Sisk
So we're going to three screens dedicated to the Thunderbolts and that was it. All right.

00:53:12.96
Jaime G
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

00:53:13.54
Tony Sisk
So they didn't have, I don't think Thunderbolts had enough screens ah dedicated to it. And that was like the, That's an indicator right of what they expect.

00:53:26.96
Tony Sisk
So here's the problem with that ah Fantastic Four is going to have, though. They're going to come in They're going to be dedicated. I have my Dolby tickets, right? It's a new release.

00:53:38.77
Tony Sisk
It's in the Dolby. They may have two other screens dedicated to it. The problem is Superman is still in the theaters. And Superman still...

00:53:52.19
Tony Sisk
it's actually going up in the count as far as people going to see it. They're not going to give up on Superman. They're not going to clear the screens.

00:54:00.00
Jaime G
You've got my attention. You've got my attention in what you just in what you just said. Yes.

00:54:05.63
Tony Sisk
Right. They're not going to like, Oh, we're going empty the screens and put, you know, and not play Superman. Like they're going to want one of their big theaters for Superman.

00:54:11.84
Jaime G
Hey, when was the last time that we had a Marvel and a DC flick at the theater at the exact same time?

00:54:14.00
Tony Sisk
So,

00:54:22.27
Tony Sisk
Right. i don't think we have. I don't So

00:54:25.30
Jaime G
I don't think we have either. Yeah.

00:54:26.88
Tony Sisk
so this is this is two The two going head to head in the theater, Superman is gaining momentum. they they crossed the fort they Superman has crossed a 400 million threshold in a week and a half.

00:54:44.81
Jaime G
a

00:54:45.13
Tony Sisk
but ah so and and For some odd reason, Jurassic World Rebirth is still in the theater too, and it's crossed 600 million.

00:54:59.77
Tony Sisk
That movie is awful.

00:54:59.86
Jaime G
that that That came out of nowhere. Yeah.

00:55:03.81
Tony Sisk
That movie's awful. I'm sorry. um Yeah.

00:55:06.52
Jaime G
That's Carole Johansson, man. She has some legit star power.

00:55:12.12
Tony Sisk
So, yeah. i mean, it's... Man. It's going to be a fight this week ah for screen time. ah So I think... I think that Fantastic Four...

00:55:29.03
Tony Sisk
Even if it's a good movie, it's not it's not going to have like huge financials right up front. right it's gonna It's going to need legs.

00:55:34.61
Jaime G
I agree. Mm-hmm.

00:55:36.78
Tony Sisk
It's going to need legs. So it better be good. and needed It needs to be good so it can stay in the theater longer to actually make the numbers. Yeah, yeah I don't know.

00:55:49.94
Jaime G
But I mean, Marvel is behind this franchise like more than any other franchise right now. Because I think, again, this team I mean, who's the bad guy? The main bad guy for the for the Fantastic Four? Doctor Doom.

00:56:06.79
Jaime G
What's the next big bad? Doctor Doom. Marvel has to be behind this one. And if it, let's say, it doesn't perform, ah i think i think that's that's the end for Marvel, man.

00:56:21.33
Tony Sisk
Yeah.

00:56:21.59
Jaime G
I mean, they've already had to scrap up scrap all the plans that they had for Jonathan Majors, right? After, you know... some questionable decisions that he did in his relationships and he got fired.

00:56:32.62
Tony Sisk
Right.

00:56:34.52
Jaime G
They take off. They do this, man. All they have left, honestly, all they have left it is coming back and doing like an Avengers versus X-Men series.

00:56:44.62
Tony Sisk
Right.

00:56:44.82
Jaime G
At that point, I think they have nothing at that.

00:56:50.10
Tony Sisk
Yeah. Yeah. I bet when they, they thought when they dropped to pick date the date, this summer date that there would be, everybody would be clearing a ah room for them.

00:57:01.59
Tony Sisk
Now there, there, there has to be questions. I bet there's, there's I bet there's questions over at Disney saying, should we, should we push our date back a couple of weeks and gave Superman some more room?

00:57:14.61
Tony Sisk
I don't know.

00:57:15.66
Jaime G
Oh, those conversations are happening. and and And I guarantee you that if this movie underperforms, somebody's going to be like, it it was because it released too close to the Superman movie.

00:57:28.67
Tony Sisk
Yeah, well, though those those that's what they'll say. That's what they'll say for sure.

00:57:32.18
Jaime G
Yeah. For sure.

00:57:34.19
Tony Sisk
so

00:57:34.55
Jaime G
Well, I personally think, I will try to go see it this weekend. and I just don't know if it's going to be by myself or with the fam. I suspect, though, I suspect that somehow it's going to pull off a miracle and you know be like, hey, this movie did 500 mil.

00:57:54.10
Jaime G
I just don't think it should do more than what the Thunderbolts did. Because, again, Thunderbolts was a pleasant surprise. Again, a bunch of B-listers pulled off a movie that was entertaining I thought I should have done better, but you know hey, that's what the fans built with their wallets.

00:58:14.68
Jaime G
um

00:58:14.68
Tony Sisk
Right.

00:58:15.92
Jaime G
let see

00:58:18.02
Tony Sisk
Yep. We'll see. It's going to be interesting. It's definitely going to be interesting. um So I'm excited. I'm actually excited to go see the movie. I mean, I didn't go to a movie last week because there was really nothing worth watching. It was like, ah what what did you do last summer?

00:58:33.92
Tony Sisk
um And some editing or something.

00:58:35.94
Jaime G
it No, it wasn't it? I know what you did last summer.

00:58:41.76
Tony Sisk
Oh yeah. See, I don't even care about the title. Like ah didn't, it, uh, yeah, I didn't care.

00:58:46.36
Jaime G
was like, what is this movie? I've never heard about it.

00:58:51.23
Tony Sisk
So I'm, I won't, uh, I'm excited to get back into the theater on Thursday. So, all right.

00:58:56.76
Jaime G
Yeah. Well, me too.

00:58:59.32
Tony Sisk
That's all I've got. um Yeah. So thanks ah again, everybody for listening to the show. um Again, ah last week I added the new link that should show up in every episode.
