I think I was just I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":284.58,"endTime":289.29,"body":"was doing which I understand now"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":289.29,"endTime":293.1,"body":"he's just kind of processing my"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":289.29,"endTime":293.1,"body":"emotions and letting it out in a"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":293.1,"endTime":295.5,"body":"creative outlet. But yeah, I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":293.1,"endTime":295.5,"body":"turned her into a bit of a"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":295.5,"endTime":298.56,"body":"bumbling fool and she was making"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":295.5,"endTime":298.56,"body":"mistakes and you know, messing"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":298.56,"endTime":301.5,"body":"things up for us and all that"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":298.56,"endTime":301.5,"body":"that I wrote it. And my teacher made an"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":305.85,"endTime":310.26,"body":"announcement and said that she'd"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":310.26,"endTime":315.24,"body":"like to ask someone to read an"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":310.26,"endTime":315.24,"body":"extract from their diary. And"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":315.24,"endTime":320.58,"body":"she was going to choose me out"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":315.24,"endTime":320.58,"body":"to the whole class. And she"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":320.58,"endTime":324.54,"body":"wanted me to read the last thing"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":320.58,"endTime":324.54,"body":"that I'd written. And I remember"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":324.54,"endTime":329.01,"body":"like looking at her with this"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":324.54,"endTime":329.01,"body":"sort of horror of maybe she"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":329.01,"endTime":332.16,"body":"doesn't realise what she's asked"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":329.01,"endTime":332.16,"body":"me to do. And her looking back"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":332.16,"endTime":335.85,"body":"at me with this sort of straight"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":332.16,"endTime":335.85,"body":"look of now I know exactly what"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":335.85,"endTime":340.26,"body":"I've asked you to do. From that"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":379.86,"endTime":382.53,"body":"point on, I would tell people,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":379.86,"endTime":382.53,"body":"I'm no good at writing fiction."},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":382.53,"endTime":385.56,"body":"Yeah, my fiction is just, I"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":382.53,"endTime":385.56,"body":"don't have the imagination for"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":385.56,"endTime":388.62,"body":"it. I don't have the, the"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":385.56,"endTime":388.62,"body":"playfulness or the creativity,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":388.62,"endTime":392.7,"body":"but I became an absolute star at"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":388.62,"endTime":392.7,"body":"writing essays, you know, just"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":392.7,"endTime":396.12,"body":"sort of constructing arguments"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":392.7,"endTime":396.12,"body":"really, really carefully and"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":396.12,"endTime":399.27,"body":"making sure that everything was"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":396.12,"endTime":399.27,"body":"very balanced. So in some ways,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":399.27,"endTime":404.46,"body":"it did help me. But it took me a"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":399.27,"endTime":404.46,"body":"long while to go back to to that"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":404.46,"endTime":409.95,"body":"kind of creativity. I became a"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":404.46,"endTime":409.95,"body":"copywriter, you know, so it was"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":409.95,"endTime":414.24,"body":"all about helping businesses to"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":409.95,"endTime":414.24,"body":"communicate what they were"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":414.24,"endTime":417.63,"body":"really good at, in a in a very"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":414.24,"endTime":417.63,"body":"kind of clear and concise way."},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":417.69,"endTime":422.85,"body":"But it was only when I started"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":417.69,"endTime":422.85,"body":"doing my own experimentation and"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":422.85,"endTime":427.32,"body":"returning a little bit to"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":422.85,"endTime":427.32,"body":"poetry. And when I had my kids,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":427.32,"endTime":430.98,"body":"I would write little short"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":427.32,"endTime":430.98,"body":"stories for them, that I stopped"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":430.98,"endTime":434.04,"body":"and suddenly started to realise"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":430.98,"endTime":434.04,"body":"that I'd left that part of me"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":434.04,"endTime":437.37,"body":"behind. And that was probably"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":434.04,"endTime":437.37,"body":"why I did it. And you know,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":437.37,"endTime":440.13,"body":"looking back on that episode,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":437.37,"endTime":440.13,"body":"that's probably what shifted for"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":440.13,"endTime":443.73,"body":"me because I used to love doing"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":440.13,"endTime":443.73,"body":"that. So it was always there."},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":443.79,"endTime":448.35,"body":"And I was able to reclaim it"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":443.79,"endTime":448.35,"body":"along that path. And I wrote one"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":1131.12,"endTime":1133.85,"body":"chapter every day, and I was"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":1131.12,"endTime":1133.85,"body":"totally confident that Yep,"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":1133.85,"endTime":1136.46,"body":"there's going to be one chapter"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":1133.85,"endTime":1136.46,"body":"every day. And"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":1335.09,"endTime":1337.82,"body":"I knew that I was really enjoyed"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":1335.09,"endTime":1337.82,"body":"some elements of it, but other"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":1337.82,"endTime":1341.33,"body":"elements in the direction it was"},{"speaker":"Unknown","startTime":1337.82,"endTime":1341.33,"body":"going, I wasn't enjoying.
