Show Notes

I was so excited to speak to my guest today as I’ve admired her for years, especially after watching her during the Larry Nassar case where she allowed his victims to share their truth in her court room over seven days.

She is such a fierce difference maker and I know you will love her too!

Judge Rosemarie Aquilina earned her Juris Doctorate degree from Western Michigan Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1984 after earning her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Michigan State University in 1979.

She is a retired Michigan Army National Guard JAG Officer.

She is a civilian judge, serving 4 years as Chief Judge and Sobriety Court Judge in the 55th District Court and now 13 years as a 30th Circuit Court.

Judge Aquilina is a Law Professor and a motivational speaker.

She is the author of Feel No Evil, Triple Cross Killer and All Rise; and her memoir Just Watch Me was released December 2020 in partnership with Audible Reese Witherspoon.

Judge Aquilina, is the mother of five children, has three grandchildren, and resides in East Lansing, Michigan.

Some key points from our interview:

·        How she grew up feeling kidnapped when her parents removed her from her grandparents home as she believed that they were her parents.

·        How she believes that children should be given explanations, a voice and allow them to ask questions.

·        How she believes that it’s very important to explain things to people very clearly, whether they are the victim or the defendants.

·        How she is passionate about treating people with dignity within her courtroom.

·        How she believes that giving witness the space to share their story opens the doors for others to do the same to .
