Arthur Levan Williamson

Mdoc #237315

Born sept 26, 1967

Resides:   Charles Englert reception and dance center

He’s hanging with Chad Allen Reed.

1.     From what I can tell Arthur grew up in Detroit

2.     He started working on his criminal career at least the age of 26.

3.     Well, that is when his paper trail starts as an adult…who knows what juvenile crimes he is accountable for.

4.     In 1993 Arthur was charged with controlled substance delivery and manufacturing of narcotics.

5.     In particular,  cocaine.  Over 50 grams it stated in his file.

6.     For that offense he was released on January 17, 2002.

7.     So his time served was from April 28, 1994 to January 27, 2002 after receiving an early discharge.

8.     On March 3 of 2013 Arthur was involved in a situation which ended in two charges.

9.      breaking & entering a building with intent

10.                         Resisting an officer of the law

11.                        He was sentenced on March 17, 2014

12.                        He was released for those crimes on December 12, 2015.

13.                        His next bust would happen three years later on October 3, 2018.

14.                        Arthur was involved in an altercation and was charged aggravated assault and interfering with electronic communications.

15.                        He was sentenced for that altercation on June 5,  2019

16.                        Arthur was discharged without improvement on July 7, 2022.

17.                        I do believe that he was on parole when this story occurred.   I'm not positive though.

18.                        It would not have changed a gd thing though.

19.                        On the evening of September 23, 2022 Arthur Levan Williamson was starting to celebrate his birthday weekend.

20.                        He called Nicole, who had been his friend for a few years.

21.                        He called her in the middle of the night (time=         )  and said he had a lil something for her.

22.                        To give a bit of history of the two, they had been friends yes.. He was also her drug dealer which comes with an automatic friendship-type situation.

23.                        However, there are reports stating that the two of them had dated and/or  had a sexual affair.

24.                        At the time, Nicole was living with her babies daddy and her lover, Jim Matthews (Nicolai) and their two children ages 10 and 5.

25.                        Nicole had known Jim for around 21 years at this point.

26.                        When Nicole was 25 they had a baby boy and when Nicole turned 30 they had their baby girl.

27.                        While their relationship was on and off, their parenting never was.

28.                        I never saw in print that Nicold and Jim were doing drugs, we definitely know that Nicole was.

29.                        She remained friends with Arthur because of this reason.

30.                        Fact is, Nicole says that Arthur is her best friend, so when he calls her at the crack of black that morning, she answered his call.

31.                        Arthur arrived at Nicole and Jim’s home around 4:30-5 a.m.. that morning with his lil something for her.

32.                        Surprise!  It’s crack cocaine and heroin.

33.                        Nicole was all for starting Arthur’s birthday weekend off with him.

34.                        Jim worked nights at the local news radio station and the kids were in bed on this school night.

35.                        Arthur cracked open a few beers and the two of them stepped into the closet to smoke a little crack.

36.                        The two stepped out of the closet and enjoyed their drug high together.

37.                        At one point, Arthur said his hubcap was coming off his tire so he needed a hammer.

38.                        The two of them retrieved a hammer from the garage together and went back inside the condo to party.

39.                        When Nicole finally asked Arthur to take off because it was time for her to get the kids up for school, he became crackigated.   That’s agitation from crack.

40.                        This, according to Nicole’s story told at the preliminary hearing was when Arthur pulled out a knife and wanted to roll play.

41.                        Not a big deal, we all do it, don’t we?

42.                        Nicole wasn’t really phased by the request as it is something that they had done in the past.

43.                        With what she thought was a fake knife pointed at her, Arthur told her to tie herself up and provided her with the supplies to do so.

44.                        She did so, because she thought the knife was fake and that they were still role playing.

45.                        Then Arthur slices her throat.

46.                        She didn’t feel the cut though, in her head the knife is still fake.

47.                        Then she saw blood.

48.                        Then Arthur either retied her or tightened her own ties and put her in the closet.

49.                        This is when Arthur announced to her that his plan all along was to kill Jim.

50.                        Arthur left the room and Nicole skooted from the closet to the door way.

51.                        I  do not know how much time passed before Jim returned home from his shift, as Nicole is tied up and the kids are sleeping.  I can imagine the nightmares she still lives.

52.                        At the preliminary trial she tells the court room that she heard Jim come home and greet Arthur with a “howdy.”

53.                        After that she heard Jim yelling as he was being beaten with a hammer from his own garage.

54.                        He yelled, “What the fuck.” According to Nicole and also yelled for her help.

55.                        Naturally, one would.  I had to remind myself that Nicole was a victim and on drugs for this next part because she testified that her response to Jim’s yells for help were, “What the fuck.  I can’t do anything I’m tied up.”

56.                        Then, because she was still in the doorway, she visibly saw Arthur attacking Jim with the hammer was they were moving down the hallway toward her.

57.                        With one hand, Arthur was swinging the hammer.  With his other hand he was stabbing Jim.

58.                        Jim fell into the bathroom, his legs in the hallway.

59.                        Nicole, still in the doorway able to watch the vicious attack.

60.                        Arthur left him in the bathroom for a minute….walked into the bedroom where Nicole was.

61.                        He went back into the bathroom, where Nicole watched him grab Jim’s hair, heard Jim say, “OH god.”  Continued to watch Arthur slice his throat and kill him.

62.                        Jim would end up with over a dozen hammer wounds.

63.                        Even though she just watched her boyfriend be murdered, her morning wasn’t over just yet.

64.                        Arthur returned to the bedroom that Nicole was in and proceeded to duct tape her to a bedpost.

65.                        He then went to the basement where their 10 year old was sleeping.  He applied duct tape to his eyes and taped his hands behind him.

66.                        He then carried the little man up to the bedroom and set him next to his mom, Nicole, on the bed.  Both of them taped up and on the bed.

67.                        Arthur loses it again, possibly because the boy or Nicole tried to say and/or do things to save their lives.

68.                        Arthur put the little guy in the closet and he beat him with the hammer that he murdered his father with.

69.                        Nicole is yelling for him to stop and he takes the hammer to her also, telling her to shut up.

70.                        At some point, she is blind folded and ended up on the floor

71.                        He retrieves her baby girl, just 5 years old and bring her into the same bedroom.

72.                        Nicole’s testimony at the prelim was brutal.

73.                        She said that she heard sound of attempted sexual abuse of her five year old daughter.  That she could hear Arthur opening a lubrication bottle and that she didn’t think he was able to complete the act.

74.                        This is when Arthur demands that Nicole and her little girl retreat down to the basement (which isn’t really a basement, it’s a condo) leaving the injured boy in the closet.

75.                        He zip ties Nicole, puts a sock in her mouth and seals it with duct tape.

76.                        He also usees a nearby phone cord to assist in securing her to a chair.

77.                        He leaves them and returns with a razor blad and the heroin on a plate.

78.                        He’s asking Nicole all sorts of questions, which I guess she can’t answer because her mouth is socked and taped.

79.                        He asked how he has to cut to kill himself, and how much heroin he would need to overdose.

80.                        Then, he forces Nicole to snort a line telling her it will calm her down.

81.                        He was angry and said he refused to go down as a pedifile for having attempted rape on her daughter.

82.                        He did a buch of heroin and Nicole said that it sounded like he had the death rattle.

83.                        When Nicole was sure that he was passed out, she had her little girl heroically cut her free from the zip ties.

84.                        Nicole wrapped her little girl up in a blanket, admited to wanted to stab Arthur real quick like, but instead the two of them escaped.

85.                        9-1-1 was called by their neighbor.  It all sounds confusing as most 9-1-1 calls do.

86.                        I can’t tell if it’s Jim’s family,  his brother Joe lives right next door.

87.                        When police arrived pressure was being applied to Nicole’s neck wound and he said there were visible signs that she had been restrained.

88.                        Police say that when they arrived among many things Nicole was saying…she said that the two of them never dated, they were just really good friends.

89.                        Nicole also testified that before overdosing Arthur said that this entire evening was planned and that he threw his life away for nothing (I believe meaning her and a relationship with her)

90.                        Police found Arthur shirtless in the basement overdosing from heroin, foaming at the mouth.

91.                        They revived him with the miracle drug Narcan.

92.                        Police initially found cocaine, crack cocaine? And the hammer that was used upon 3 of the 4 victims.

93.                        The odd thing to me from what I could find, Arthur arrived at their home around _____, attacked Jim when he arrived home from work at 6 am but the 9-1-1 call didn’t happen until noon.

94.                        The body cam footage of one of the officers rescuing the boy was used during the prelim trial.

95.                        They saved the little man’s life and his uncle truly believes that the little man stood up for his mom during the altercation.

96.                        The young girl was released to Jim’s brother, Joe and they continued to care for her until Nicole was released from the hospital where she was in stable condition.

97.                        The little man was in the hospital much longer, as he sustained wounds to his head from the hammer.

98.                        When Arthur came to at the hospital he was asked if he hurt anyone by an officer and Arthur replied with, I think I need an attorney.

99.                        Once released from the hospital, Arthur was charged with the murder of Jim Matthews.

100.                   The news spread through Detroit via the radio station WWJ a.m. News Radio, in Southfield that Jim had just left.

101.                   Jim had been a news person there for 7 years

102.                   Arthur pled Nolo Contendere …no contest which means no trial, a sort of guilty plea if you will.

a.     -1st degree murder

b.    -2 counts of assault with the intent to murder

c.     -3 counts of unlawful imprisonment

103.                   Arthur heading behind bars with no possibility of bail or getting out anytime soon.

104.                   It also meant, no rape charges.

105.                   During Arthur’s sentencing trial, the judge was rather bold.

106.                   Judge James Biernat told Arthur and indirectly the court room, “committ suicide before you do any of this.”

107.                   During his sentencing Judge Biernat also said directly to Arthur,….well, let’s just play the clip because it’s fantastic!

108.                   *play clip here***

109.

110.                   Nicole addressed Arthur during sentencing letting him know that he took the rock of their family away.

111.                   More importantly,  the little man wrote a letter to Arthur, whom he knew well…this wasn’t a stranger to their family and it was read in court on his behalf.

112.                   Jim’s brother stated after that there was not a punishment in heaven or hell suitable for what Arthur did to his brother and family.

113.                   Arthur was able to speak…he said, “I’m sorry.   I’m…sorry.”

114.                   Jim’s family rejects his apology with the reasoning that he just wanted to make himself look better.
