Christopher Charles Lockhart 

Born May 21, 1970 in South Carolina 

• Moved to Michigan at some point, I have no idea when. 

• Chris as an adult worked as a scientist and Phizer, a company that keeps millions supplied with legal drugs. 

• Chris had been married once before and they bore two children together. 

• In 2006 Chris met a woman on an online dating site. 

• The woman was a very outgoing teacher who worked for the Cassopolis School district, Theresa. 

• Theresa taught Spanish at the school and loved Zumba so much that she was a part time instructor of the class. 

• The two would be married within a year.   

• Their wedding was held on October 13, 2007. 

• The couple tried to have children unsuccesfully.   

• Sadly, it turned out that there were fertility issues and they would never be able to bear children of their own. 

• Theresa accepted this and moved on with life. 

• 9 years into their marriage, Chris’s mom died. 

• This caused him to start a slow spiral. 

• He began with drinking, then the drinking became worse which led to domestic violence type situations in their home. 

• In November of 2016 police were at their home for a dispute when Chris pushed Theresa in front of the cop. 

• Arrested 

• He pled guilty to reduced charges of assult & battery 

• By law Chris was to stay away from Theresa and he needed to serve 10 hours of community service. 

• I don’t believe either of those happened because Theresa ended up dropping the charges and allowing him to come back home. 

• At one point during this last debacle, Chris had moved out. 

• Sometime near the end of 2016 though, Theresa would end up giving him another chance and he moved back into their home. 

• On May 22 one of Theresa’s good friends held a confirmation for her daughter, Theresa was to be a big part of the little girl’s life, and was supposed to be there.  However, she never showed up. 

• Going into that work week, she didn’t show up for work. 

• Her coworker and friend talked to the superintendnt, who ended up calling police. 

• The next day, May 23 police officers of the law went to question Chris. 

• Chris was very blasé about the entire deal.  Just like, Yeah.  She left.  So what, she’s done this before. Kind of attitute which absolutely did not sit well with the detectives. 

• Really though Chris told them that on Thursday May 18 (2017) Theresa came home from work fed up and irritated with her job. 

• According to him, Theresa was frustrated with her entire teaching career. 

• He then went on to tell the police that after that Theresa told him that she needed to go away for a while. 

• According to Chris, she left their home around 10-10:30 pm that Thursday 5-18 

• He didn’t really know where she was going he thought maybe to go get help somehwere.   

• Chris claimed he couldn’t really tell if any of her stuff was missing 

• Ultimately, being mostly unhelpful. 

• After that he said he needed an attorney to talk any more. 

• The police department releases a BOLO of Theresa having left her home & gone missing. 

• I am honestly surprised that they took this so seriously.  Maybe it was Chris being so sheisty. 

• Police start their investigation on the missing Theresa Lockhart. 

• On May 20?? Check Date!! 

A patrolling officer found her car in the park & ride just a few miles from their home. 

• This carpool is on the NW edge of town.  It butts up to Allegan State Park??? 

• Officer/Detective Hess goes back to Chris with the news. 

• Being the time of video footage, his cop cam is rolling when he tells Chris about finding the car. 

• Chris didn’t even seem to care or maybe acted sort of dazed or shocked.  He did ask where her car was but they didn’t answer him. 

• They question him again about that Thursday night. 

• They ask if they can have the car keys to her vehicle to search it.  Christ retreats inside the home and returns with the keys. 

• Chris’s story is slightly different than last time….or maybe more embellished. 

• He told them that she stayed up late working for a school district that was trying to fine her and he just went to bed. 

• When asked about guns in the home:  Chris said yes they have guns, no she didn’t take them and she doesn’t even know how to use a gun. 

• He lays a weak, “She’s missing, we need to find her” to Detective Hess.

• The vehicle was remarkably clean and little if any evidence was found. 

• On May 25 they go to talk to Chris again.  

• This time, Theresa was having an anxiety attack over work and the fact that they had to euthanize one of their cats. 

• He reminds the detective that she has done this before. 

• He even said, “She’s an adult she can leave.” 

• Simply did not seem worried. 

• The investigation moves forward 

-Talking to friends and family 

-Looking into Theresa’s digital trail 

-Cell towers were checked for pings 

• They learned that her last ping was at her house THE PRIOR THURSDAY.   

• There was no cell activity on her phone after that 

• Other than that, the digital trail was totally cold.   

-no atms or banks 

-not insurance claims from hospitals or er rooms or a mental facility 

• Being so close to another country, they even checked the borders to see if she headed to the great white north, canada. 

• A prayer vigil is held and Chris did not go 

• Her sister lived in British Columbia so she couldn’t even be here to help search, which is awful. 

• Police went back to the media and updated their status on Theresa.  She is no longer considered a missing person, this is now a homicide investigation.   

• Search crews gathered.  A group named Greater Michigan Search & Rescue aided in looking for her to no avail. 

• It was an all out search with nothing left out.  Helicopters, scuba divers, all of the things 

• Plus, the locals SHOWED UP to search. 

• You know who did not search?  Chris. 

• On May 24 video footage of her leaving the gym she attended showed up. 

• The video was on May 18, 2017 at 6:04 pm, this would be the last known sighting of her alive. 

• Everyone was questioned at the gym but it was mostly rumors and stupid stuff.  Nothing came of it. 

• One rumor was that she was having an affair with her trainer, not true. 

• Chris’s ex wife even worked out at the same gym.   

• So far, Chris is still looking like the perp. 

• Detectives continue to deep dive into Chris’s life after all he: 

-had not reported her missing 

-never asked how he could help 

-never called the cop shop for updates 

-he didn’t help search for her 

-he lawyered up 

-he kept saying that she left  on her own accord 

-he kept saying that she’s done this before 

-where is theresa if her car is at the park n ride? 

• During the time that Chris is being uncooperative, he is hooking up with woman via dating app’s.  

• Portage pd put out a new press release stating that the case has changed to a homicide investigation. 

• Also, in this few days a news reporter from Channel 8, Lyndsey Mukomel tried calling Christopher for a phone interview and his dumb ass gave it to her! 

•  June 3, 2017 

• In this interview, Christopher attempted to tell his side of the story. 

• He said a lot of the same stuff he told the officers except he added that it was almost their 10th anniversary and he was worried about her. 

• He told the reporter that the police naming him as a suspect is solely an attempt to embarrass him. 

• Reporters received a video on June 5th from the Lockharts neighbors, on it you could hear the Lockharts fighting.   

• They pur it out on the news 

• Chris see’s this on the news and sneakily goes to his neighbors and cuts wires to the surveillance system. 

• Except, he cut the wrong lines, so we can see him running away from the house. 
• This leads to an arrest for malicious destruction of property and interferrance with electronic communications. 

• He of course, bails out or whatever. 

• On June 7 the police showed up at Chirstophers door armed with a search warrant and a huge crew.   

• Christopher stood across the street watching damn near the whole time. 

• They searched the first time for about 1.5 days 

• They found a I pad and laptop both smashed by a hammer. 

• A killers to do list 

--gloves, towel, duct tape, hammer, screwdriver, backpack, flashlight 

• When the media talked to his family everyone agreed that it was rediculous to suspect Chris.   

• Even her sister in British Columbia at first didn’t think he did anything because there was no proof, she later changes her mind. 

• After the news reports that Chris had become a suspect in the murder of his wife, the woman he had been having sex with decided to come forward. 

• 4-5 woman stated that he had been on the dating site for at least 2 years 

• Multiple woman had been recently contacted by Chris just before and after Therea’s disappearance . 

• Just 9 days after her disappearance, one woman went on a date with Chris.  They went to dinner and saw a comedy show in Grand Rapids. 

• On these sites he went by alias’s -Chistopher Ballad 

             -Christopher White 

• While the file on Chris was growing bigger, he didn’t help himself out a whole lot. 

• He was arrested 3 more times (making a total of 4 since Theresa has been missing) 

• July 17 Drunk Driving, he ended up with a alcohol sensing tether….like thing 

• July 21st he tried to remove said tether, arrested again 

• July 31st for loitering, I think. 

• At some point he tells the detective that he will come down and take a polygraph, but he never shows up for his appointment. 

• On Tuesday, October 24, 2017 Christopher Lockhart missed his parolee appointment, which was at 10 a.m. 

• Officers were sent to his home, to check on him.  I’m sure they were just wanting to arrest him for any possible reason they could because they know 

• When they entered his home after no answer, they found Chris hanging in his basement. 

• There was no question that it was suicide as he had left a signed and dated note. 

• It appears that he left the note on Monday October 23 at 11:15 a.m. he hung there for 30 hours if he did it right away 

• The letter was a confession letter that included a hand drawn map to Thereas temporary burial place. 

• The confession part of the letter read as such: 

I killer her the night of 5/18/17 I choker her to death downstairs.  I was drunk and we were arguing and I snapped.  I took her body to the Allegan game area the next day and buried her there.  I am so sorry for this horrible act.  I apologize to her mother, friends & family and the community for this senseless act.  I llive with it every moment of the day and I miss her so much.  I didn’t put her first, that was my biggest mistake. 

• On the map, Detective Hess was addressed as to where to find theresa.   

• They were led approximately 50 miles away to the allegan game area 

• That same day, detectives recovered her body by a hand drawn map with an x that marked the spot. 

• Theresa Lockhart was laid to rest on Monday December 4.
