Igor Lanis

Resides:  Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens

Igor was born on September 29, 1968 to parents Sofia & Jacob.

His lovely wife’s name is Tina, she is 56 years old at this time.  The two of them have 2 daughters.  Rachel who was 25 and Rebecca who was 21

Igor had been a loving and caring father until the world changed, for him and for a lot of people.

Igor and his family lived in a nice home on Glenwood Court in Walled Lake.

Walled Lake is northwest of Detroit about 20 miles, a quick drive to the city.  The community is around 7,000 people. 

Tina Lanis worked for Jewish Senior life, an inclusive community.  (with world class services)

Igor worked in suburban Detroit in the auto industry.  He was an auto parts designer.

After the presidential election of 2020. Yup, that year.  Igor Lanis had become obsessed with q anon and the deep state.

He truly believed that deep state forces stole the election from Trump.  That they staged mass shootings and staged the “fake” January 6 riot.

He also believed that deep state forces hatched plots to harm Americans with vaccines and 5g technology.

He really changed to the core during this time.  He even started arguing with his own wife and daughters.

• His television habits also changed.  He went from watching Fox news to OAN & Newsmax.  Which was also a call to action from Trump. Fact check

Sunday, September 11, 2022 Igor Lanis was fighting with his wife and his daughter, Rachel.

It was really early in the morning, Tina and Rachel were trying to leave the situation.  Rachel was around the door area, I believe and Tina had to run back into the house to get something.  

That is when Igor started shooting.

Igor shot his daughter in the back of the legs.

He also shot his wife, Tina, 4 times with the handgun….in the back.  Apparently he had a handgun and a shotgun during his breakdown.  Tina, just 56, was dead from her wounds.

Sammy, we haven’t introduced Sammy.  He’s the family dog.  He was shot multiple times and died.

Rachel, having been shot and probably seeing or hearing her mother being shot by her own father, managed to make a 9-1-1- call.

When she called she was really having a hard time.  She was able to tell the operator that her father had shot her and had killed her mother.  She was not able to give her exact address but was able to say they lived on Glenwood Ct.

So when police come in, they coming in  a little shy.  They aren’t sure which house it is on Glenwood Court.  They have little to no idea.  

Neighbors were starting to come out and they were closing in on Igor’s home when Igor stepped into the front doorway of their home, raised his shotgun and started shooting at the approaching officers.

He tried to get help.  I said that, right?  Now, here he is.  Dead.  Cop suicide.

When they finally gained entrance into the home, Rachel was trying to crawl to the door that her father just died in.

The investigation revealed that Igor Lanis used a Remington 870 pump shotgun and had some sort of handgun.

Sheriff Mike Bouchard quietly gave a press conference with some of the details. He did not release names but gave some minor information.

Neighbors were completely shocked that this happened so close to home.

Rachel went directly into surgery and would eventually recover from her physical wounds.

Rebecca and their Aunt Mela organized a go fund me to help them get back on their feet when this is over and to help with medical bills.  The pictures included Rachel with their dog, Sammy.  Rebecca & Rachel.  A family photo of all four of them in happier times.  Then one with Rachel & Rebecca with good old Sammy.

Let’s talk about Rebecca for a minute.  She was not home when this fight began.  She was at a friend's house that night.  She found out about what happened when her grandma called to see if she was in the hospital.

Rebecca went straight to the problem:  she went online.  It took her zero time at all to explain the story of her father. She took her anger out on reddit and other sites.  She didn’t hesitate to talk to local media about EVERYTHING that went wrong in this story.

Redditt was a good place for her to get some steam off her chest.  I personally, just can’t with Reddit.  It’s too much.  But it definitely worked for Rebecca and I hope that it helped her in some way, shape or form.  Because damn.   Those girls, went through a lot.

Growing up, my parents were extremely loving and happy people. I always had a special bond with both my parents.

In 2020 after Trump lost, my dad started going down the Q rabbit hole. He kept reading conspiracy theories about the stolen election, Trump, vaccines, etc. He always said he wanted to keep us safe and healthy.

It kept getting worse and he verbally snapped at us a few times. Nothing physical though. He never got physical with anybody.

Well, at around 4 AM on September 11, he had an argument with my mother and he decided to take our guns and shoot her, my dog and my sister. My mother succumbed to her wounds and my sister is in the hospital right now.

My dad also fired back at the cops and they killed him.

I'm shocked and I don't even know what to say.

Fuck you, Qanon. I hope the FBI tightens its grip on you and that your lackies rot in prison (and hell) for poisoning so many people.

Rebecca is my hero.  She really didn’t do this for attention, she did it to shake people out of their stupor.

On the news she stated, “It’s really so shocking but it really can happen to anybody.  Right-wing extremism is not funny and people need to watch their relatives and if they have guns, they need to hide them or report them or something because this is out of control.”

In the end, Rebecca had no qualms with blaming social media and the tin-hat wearing conspiracy theorists and I can’t say that I blame her.
