Above & beyond his recorded criminal history Kenny has failed to appear in court on 11 separate occasions.

In February of 2020 Kenny Wayne McBride was living in Temperance, Michigan at the time he is 45 years old.

Temperance is just a cornfield away from the Ohio border.  It’s directly north of Toledo.  Closer to Toledo than to Detroit.

Fun fact:  the town’s original name was Bedford Center but due to early settlers and the temperance movement, the town was renamed in 1859.  They have a population of just under 10,000 humans.

It’s 2020 and Kenny is living with his father Kenneth Reece and his father’s Mother in Law, Cecilia Gibson who was a 79 year old lady in a two story home on Lewis Ave.

It was said that Cecillia would refer to Kenny as a bad roommate, although specifics weren’t told why.

In the afternoon of February 16, 2020 Kenny was home with Cecillia and her son Billy was over visiting.

Billy witnessed the two of them arguing over bottled water.  He was very concerned with leaving his Mother there with Kenny.

Cecilia insisted that this was normal and that everything would be fine.  Reluctantly, he left.

It wasn’t until Kenny's dad, Kenneth returned home from work on the the 17th around 3 a.m. that Cecillia’s body was found in their home.

Dad see’s Cecilla’s body, with blood everywhere and he yells for Kenny to come downstairs.

Kenny was just chilling out in his room, his door was closed but not latched so just kind of pushed closed.

He trotted down the stairs rather casually to see what his dad was yelling about.  He didn’t seem fazed that there was not only a dead body there in the living room …but the dead body of 79 year old Cecillia Gibson.

It appeared he was more anxious about his father’s reaction to what was going on.  His father’s reaction was to call 9-1-1-. It was clear that he didn’t realize that it was his mother in law yet.  He said “some person”

He legitimately thought it was one of Kenny’s friends dead on the floor.

It didn’t take long for the police to arrive at their home.

When they arrived, what they came upon was beyond the average murder scene.

The body was mutilated and blood was everywhere.   The mutilation was decapitation.

There was a severed head was found in the driveway, detectives said it had been thrown there and it happened to land up against the tire of a vehicle.

Upon entering the house both Kenneth & Kenny were there. Kenneth looked rather normal aside from being shaked up.

Kenny had injuries upon his body though.  Court records stated that the defendant had injuries on his hands, arms, and head, which were consistent with someone who struggled to kill and behead someone”

Very specific injuries.

While searching the home, a pair of jeans were found with blood and flesh of the victim all over them was found in the bathroom.

On the edge of the bathtub, police found Kenny’s palm print in the victim’s blood.

Under the victim’s body, police found shredded photographs of his family.

In all I believe they found numerous family photos directly under the body or set up near the body.

.

They were able to restrain and arrest Kenny right then with no problems.

Defendant was charged with open murder and mutilation of a dead body and held Judge William  Paul Nicols held him without bond and he was held at the Monroe County Jail.

He showed no remorse and made very few comments, except to say his name is Kenny Reece and that he would retain his own lawyer.

As every arraignment goes, the defendant's lawyer argued for bail and the prosecutor said hell no, due to his history of  domestic abuse, felony weapons convictions, and violent crimes.

A probable cause hearing was then set for February 26, 2020 and preliminary exam was set for March 4, 2020.’

At some point,  Kenny & his lawyer asked for the trial to be moved due to media attention and the inability to get a fair trial.  They were denied.

Investigation would show that after she died, her head was removed with two serrated knife blades from their kitchen drawer.  Take note, they were not from the obvious knife block on the counter, inferring someone knew where to find those knives.

The two serrated blades were found next to the body of Ceciilla’s.

Samples were taken from the jeans, one from blood on the pants and the other from the waistband area to determine who wore them.

When the results came back they found that there were three contributors for the waistband—

-79% of the DNA belonged to the victim,

-16% belonged to defendant, and

-5% was from an unknown individual.

The DNA expert testified the victim’s DNA from the test came from all of the victim’s blood on the jeans, and the defendant's DNA likely arrived on the jeans because he wore them.

This testing gave strong evidence Kenny committed the crime.

They also tested a  spot on the back of the jeans.  That turned out to be Cecilla’s dna and blood.

Cecilla Gibson was beaten to death with the perpetrator’s fists, a piggy bank, and a protective gate for children.  The killer had grabbed these items from different areas of the room or rooms.  The baby gate was not right next to the piggy bank.

After four days of trial, on June 10, 2021 Kenny McBride  was convicted by jury and sentenced as a habitual offender due to his prior felony convictions.
