You are More, a podcast to inspire vision, hope, passion, and enlightenment to help facilitate and move you forward in all that you are called and created to both do and be on this earth. You are more. Welcome to Podcast You're More. I'm your host, Amy, and I'm excited to be with you. Today we're going to be talking about a subject matter that all of us have experienced in life. It is one of its kryptonite to your success if you don't learn to deal with it. It's kryptonite to your success if you cannot develop a muscle to overcome it. And so I've got a few strategies to overcome overcoming the number one pitfall as to why we don't move forward and do more and pursue more in our life. Guess what it is? Many of you are probably guessing right now. Here's what it is: it's rejection. Rejection is kryptonite to your future and your success, depending on how you respond to it. If you respond in a way that you withdraw, you you you step back, which is a natural reaction, guys. But if you step back and react like that and you don't get back up, it has the power to literally um ruin and put a ceiling on your potential, put a ceiling on your growth. Put a ceiling on your destiny if you can't handle the rejection. So I have a couple thoughts on the rejection piece because it's something that I've had to navigate through. I'm in the real estate business, I'm in a sales business, right? I've experienced massive amounts of rejection. And you're like, Amy, you have a good, you you've done well. Yeah, that's how I just have had to keep popping back up and overcoming. But the rejection, I've had to handle it in two ways. First of all, I took one of it and I said, Well, okay, if you're rejecting me, I'm not being chosen. Why am I not being chosen? Because I want to be chosen next time, so tell me what I need to do. Maybe we weren't a good fit, but maybe there's something that I can learn from and be better for my next appointment, so I don't screw the next opportunity up, right? So rejection can be good feedback for you. But I want to talk to you about something about flipping the narrative of rejection because there's certain things when if you're not in sales, if you're not in a situation, but maybe you've you've been in a business and there's a big promotion that comes available and you keep getting passed over. Maybe there's a C there's uh an opportunity and you're like, pick me, pick me, pick me. And they it's almost like you're invisible. Here's the reality of it, guys. If you can look at rejection as we've been looking at every other obstacle in the pattern of success, you have to flip the narrative. But this is something I was listening to that uh Jamie uh Lima. She just sold her, she just sold her makeup brand to like L'Oreal, right? Um, and she was talking about she has a new book out called Worthy, and she was talking about you know the tremendous amount of rejection she went through and how she flipped the narrative on things. And this is what she said. And I thought this was so powerful, and I thought this could be so helpful to you guys. It was helpful to me. And she was uh this is how she said she goes, I wasn't rejected, God hid my value from them because they were not part of my destiny. I'm gonna say that again. Someone needs to really heard hear that. I wasn't rejected, God hid my value from them because they weren't part of my destiny. Huh. Who thinks that feels good? Think about all the opportunities, especially if you if you're listening to that podcast, you're a person that that likes to achieve, you like to move forward, you like to get promoted, you like to make advancement, you like to be uh impactful, right? But all of you have times when you've been overlooked, where the opportunity has just been passed on. You could be standing there doing all the work, all the heavy lifting. You're there every day, you're showing up before everybody else's, you're staying later than everybody else, yet you're seemingly overlooked. I have good news for you. Take heart. Your value was hidden from them. You weren't rejected, your value was hid from them because they're not part of your destiny. Interesting, isn't it? I believe that the rejection piece is all part of the process. Every level has a new devil, and there's a process to getting to the next level. And oftentimes it comes with someone who had the ability and the and and the opportunity to promote you, not. It's all part of the process. You're being processed, and what it's doing, it's weeding out all those things, all the insecurities come to the top, right? Everything that would try to dictate your self-confidence and your self-worth. Like it all tries to get to get um crushed on your path forward. So here's what I what I've been discovering. Self-confidence can be shaken. Lose a couple deals, lose a couple opportunities, your self-confidence could can be shaken. Self-worth has a whole different vibe to it. Self-worth is something like I know God has a plan for me. I know I'm on this purpose for greater. I know good things are ahead of me. I know that I'm blessed. I know that the things that I do are good in this community, the things that I set my hand to prosper and increase. I know that. That's as I'm worthy of that. Like good things come through my hands. I can be impactful, right? But you can get into a season where rejection, you get so wounded because someone that you may have looked up to, typically it's not coming from someone that you don't care about. Someone you may have looked up to, potentially idolized, aspired to be like, passed on you. They didn't promote you. In fact, maybe they did the exact opposite. They cast you aside, they treated you like you didn't have any real value. Guess what I can tell you? It's a process that's all working for you. I want to go back to Joseph. I a few weeks ago I talked about the power of Joseph. He went from the pit to the palace, right? He went from, you know, telling his brothers, he's a guy in the Bible who went from, and it's the whole story is found in Genesis, but he went from telling um his brothers about his dream and his vision, and he had so much favor on him. His his father, you know, created a coat of many colors for him, and there was so much jealousy that came from the brothers, they tried to get rid of him. But God always had a plan to get Joseph to Egypt, and so all the jealousy that came against him, the selling him into slavery, taking him into to um Potiphar's house, he had to get there. Like there's always a plan that's working behind it, and it's always for your good. So let's go back to Joseph. Joseph is is uh is in Potiphar's house, and Potiphar's wife is just pursuing him, pursuing him, pursuing him. He's like, no, no, no. And one day she sees an opportunity because she's she's basically been rejected by him multiple times. She says, Oh, I've got his clothes, I've got his tunic, I've got, I can't remember what she grabbed. She had some piece of clothing or something. And she basically went screaming out and told her husband that he tried to rape her. So he was falsely accused of something that he did not do, finds himself thrown into jail. But the Bible says that even though he was there, whatever he did, God caused him to prosper. Whatever he went through, he the hand of God was upon him, and he always caused him to prosper. Well, he's working in the jail, he's living in, he's in prison basically, and the warden promotes him, but he's still in prison. And two people come to him and they've had dreams and they don't know how to interpret the dreams. And so Joseph interprets the dreams for him, and he goes, and the dreams are true, right? He tells the butler and the baker what their dreams mean, and he says to them, Hey, when you get up there, remember me. Like, hey, get me out of here, help me, get me out of here. Don't forget me, don't forget me down here. I just helped you. I just gave you, I just interpreted your dreams for you. Well, guess what? They go on and they forget about him for a season. They go on and they forget about him until a need arises where Potiphar has a dream and he needs, he needs uh, he needs someone to interpret the dream. So what do they do? They go get Joseph. Hey, I remember this guy down there in jail. He knew how to interpret dreams. So it was all working for him, but it was a timing thing. So can you imagine the frustration? I mean, he just gave these guys, he's falsely accused, he's in prison for no reason. He's he's sitting down there making the best of a bad situation. He gives these guys keys to their future. One gets promoted, one one gets basically killed. And he gives that, he tells them all that though, in their dreams, and they it all comes true. And yet he doesn't get pulled out of that place. He doesn't give favor, he doesn't get pulled out. He is in a process, a process of will you trust me? A process of I'm gonna just keep putting one foot forward in front of the other, I'm gonna keep doing my best, I'm gonna keep showing up at the highest level I can show up. I'm gonna keep dreaming and believing and working as diligently as I possibly can work. I'm gonna do that. That ultimately will lead to your promotion. But here's the thing: when you flip the narrative on rejection, the crippling, debilitating power of rejection loses that sting. When you flip the narrative and say, ah, you know what? I'm not rejected. My value has been hidden from you because you're not part of my destiny. Guys, doesn't that feel revelatory? Doesn't that feel great? Like, oh, hey, this all makes sense. They didn't see my value because ultimately that wasn't what was best for my future. They weren't part of my destiny. They weren't supposed to be. I wasn't supposed to be in that. Even though that doesn't feel good when you get passed on, when you get rejected, when there's an opportunity for you to be promoted and they don't promote you. I'm telling you guys, I've been there. It hurts. It's not fun. It can cause you to pull back, to retreat, to withdraw, to basically go pack your bags and say, okay, well, I'm not doing this anymore. And you can have a whole pity party on rejection. Many of you have experienced rejection in relationships. You've experienced rejection in in um in your career path where you just weren't picked on. You were you're just not chosen, where you've been passed on multiple times over things, and you can interpret that. Yeah, I'm just rejected. I'm not good enough. I'm not good enough. Guys, here's the thing. When you I think you should go back to it, what's your automatic statement? Like, if I get rejected, my automatic statement has been this. Oh, I suck. That has been the I mean, that's without thought. I had to think about what I think about when I feel rejected, and that's the immediate thought. And I've had to go back and do some work, and I'm not free and clear of this because I think it's a lifetime of work. I think it's a lifetime, it's a it's a decade, it's it's it's decades of self-development where you can develop like brain hacks and mind hacks to be over to be able to overcome rejection because it is a part of life. And the higher you climb, the greater the opportunity for rejection is because you're going into different areas that you don't feel as stable in. You don't have this as sure a footing necessarily. So the higher you climb, the more risk you take, the more out there you get on a limb with your with your dreams and desires, the more it's gonna get shot down, the more vulnerable you are to rejection. But I just have to tell you, rejection is part of the process in life. It's part of the qualifying, is to be able to navigate through rejection and to be able to overcome it and keep going. Guys, it's almost like a badge of honor. And it's not that you want to walk around and get rejected because I'd much rather be approved of and liked and promoted all day long. But I'm telling you, it's a process that works for you. And if you look back on it one day and say, man, it was actually for my safety. It was actually for my good. Wow, God, you spared me. I would have hate to have been in that situation. Wow, God, you spared me. So many things I can go back and look in my life where I felt like I was not given an opportunity. Man, why didn't I get that opportunity? Why'd they choose somebody else? I work 10 times harder than those people do. I've had those things so many times. Why didn't I get that opportunity? Why didn't I get to go on that trip? Why didn't I get promoted here? Why, why, why, why, why? Some of you have had in relationships. Why did my husband leave me? Why did my spouse leave me? Why did my wife leave me? Why, why, why, why, why, why? And some of it is just absolutely awful, right? And the the awfulness of rejection is huge. It's it's paralyzing. But if you can get to a point of flipping the narrative, it's ah, this is all working for me. My best days are ahead of me. I have no idea why I've had to walk through this. But every person I know that's accomplished so many great things, that's had great relationships, great marriages. Guys, half the people I know that have fantastic marriages, it's their second. And they learn from the failure of their first, right? And they they chose a different spouse, a different personality type. And they enjoyed their second half of their life with their spouse at a whole different level than they did with their first. Guys, there's always good working for you. Every negative situation turned for your good. The pit to the palace, right? Turned for your good. But the power of walking through rejection and being able to flip that narrative will cause you to be able to ascend when others would descend. It'll cause you to be able to keep moving forward when it would have been too much of a setback for others. But part of your destiny, part of the obstacle to your destiny, part of the the, I call it just the border guards to your destiny is being able to overcome rejection. So think of rejection sometimes as a signpost. You're only getting closer to your next. I'm in sales. So for me, I'm like, well, I know how many numbers, I know how many contacts I have to make on average to actually get a yes. I'll have to get so many no's, but I have to have, you know, 15 contacts for a yes, right? So, guys, it's a everything in life is a contact sport. The more contact you make, the more you increase your odds of success. So everything in life is like that. Success, success, success is all. How many more contacts do I have to make? How many more calls do you have to make if you're in business? How many more plans do I have to put forward? How much more? There's effort that goes forward. You have to put your foot forward and keep growing and keep going and keep developing yourself personally because as you develop yourself personally, that's what literally changes the narrative in your life. So I just want to give you again, I just want to rehearse for you just a couple keys to overcome rejection, and then we're gonna call it a wrap. So, first of all, on rejection, just know it's necessary for your future. You had to go through it, it's part of the building process, it's part of creating a sure foundation. You know who you are, you're not easily rocked, you're strong in your identity, right? So it's a part of the process, so just know that. And then number two, your value was hid from that person because they weren't part of your destiny. Doesn't that take the pressure off? Think on that. Every time you experience that, let that that anthem play out loud. Oh if it wasn't a uh something that I could go get some kind of uh uh constructive criticism from or constructive uh feedback on, oh, then it just was they're just not my tribe, they're not who I'm supposed to be aligned with. And we when we can find that out and identify that, we can move forward. And the sting of rejection, although it's always a sting, boy, the the time frame of it, it just gets shorter and shorter and shorter. There's the the the number three thing is you got to be able to pop back. So to me, the way I've been able to pop back is I go back and I rehearse my victories. I rehearse the successes I have had, I rehearse the the times where I have overcome, I have been sought out, I have been like I have been put in a position of of responsibility. I have been given opportunity, I have been given promotion. Ah, I go back and I look at that kind of stuff. So that's what I tell you. Number one, you know, it's part of it. Just identify that it's part of it and you're on the right path. I call it an indicator light. Yep, just I'm just getting closer to my to the fulfillment of all that I'm looking for. Number two, uh, God hit them from my destiny. Number three, I just have to rehearse my victories so I can get my pop back. You gotta have the pop back factor. Rehearse your victories, flip the narrative, and you will overcome rejection too. Don't fall into the trap and stay there. The Bible says the righteous come, they they go into trouble, but they always come out. So you might fall in the ditch, you might fall in the sand trap, you might fall down for a minute, you might be a day or two in your rejection, pop back up, flip the narrative. If it was supposed to be part of your destiny, it would have been. It's a safeguard for you. So as you're walking this Azure More life and you're continuing on to pursue and to do, you're gonna experience it. And it's all part of it. Know it's a normal thing to happen. And know this: you are more. You are fabulous as you are, but you are created for greatness and you are more. So keep going and don't quit. If you've enjoyed this podcast, give it a like, give it a share, give it a five-star review. I'd love a written review. If you could do that for me, that would be awesome.
