Season 6, Podcast 80, Isaiah 27:1-13, “Gathering of Israel.”

Isaiah speaks much about the Millennial Day. In Isaiah 28 he focuses on the gathering of Israel and pronounces extraordinary promises, perhaps greater than they have ever received. The story of the gathering of Israel is the story of the Christianity, for everyone who comes to Christ will be under the Abrahamic Covenant and receive all the blessings promised Israel. It appears that the final gathering will be at the Millennial Hour. By that I mean the beginning of the Millennium and will stretch throughout the 1000 years. As we examine Chapter 27, keep the Millennium in mind.

Isaiah 27:1

In that day the Lord with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

The leviathan is a curious image in the Bible. Isaiah refers to the leviathan as a piercing serpent and a crooked serpent. The Lord, who is more powerful than leviathan, with his great and strong sword shall punish leviathan and kill the dragon that is in the sea. The dragon is a familiar image of Satan.

Revelation 13:2

And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

The beast represents evil kingdoms that fight against God’s people. The dragon, Satan, gives the beast its power. Prior to the Second Coming of Christ the beast will have enormous power on the earth.

Revelation 13:7-8

And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

The beast comes to a dreadful end.

Revelation 19:19-20

And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

And the dragon, also called that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan is bound for 1000 years.

Revelation 20:1-3

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

The Millennium begins.

Isaiah 27:2-6

In that day sing ye unto her, A vineyard of red wine. I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day. Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together. Or let him take hold of my strength, that he may make peace with me; and he shall make peace with me. He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.

Verse 6 is rather astonishing considering that for nearly three millennia the house of Israel has been scattered and lost. Now they will “take root.” Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit.”
