I,"},{"startTime":208.04,"endTime":211.04,"body":"my, I grew up in church,"},{"startTime":211.6,"endTime":214.68,"body":"with, my father being a pastor,"},{"startTime":215.56,"endTime":218.84,"body":"and, I was the."},{"startTime":218.84,"endTime":220.04,"body":"Or I am"},{"startTime":220.04,"endTime":223.04,"body":"the music director for the church."},{"startTime":223.88,"endTime":225.8,"body":"where, my father."},{"startTime":225.8,"endTime":228.8,"body":"Yeah, my father is the pastor."},{"startTime":228.84,"endTime":230.44,"body":"And,"},{"startTime":230.44,"endTime":232.76,"body":"for 17 years,"},{"startTime":232.76,"endTime":235.56,"body":"I, I served as the,"},{"startTime":235.56,"endTime":236.24,"body":"I work for the"},{"startTime":236.24,"endTime":237.08,"body":"Dorothy Brown"},{"startTime":237.08,"endTime":238.16,"body":"clerk of the Circuit Court"},{"startTime":238.16,"endTime":240.68,"body":"of Cook County."},{"startTime":240.68,"endTime":241.88,"body":"17 years there."},{"startTime":241.88,"endTime":245.52,"body":"I became the chief deputy clerk there."},{"startTime":246.52,"endTime":249.52,"body":"and there I was able to,"},{"startTime":249.88,"endTime":252.88,"body":"really see firsthand,"},{"startTime":254.04,"endTime":257.04,"body":"people, that are hopeless."},{"startTime":257.84,"endTime":261.4,"body":"And, I am so grateful,"},{"startTime":262.08,"endTime":264.96,"body":"for, for"},{"startTime":264.96,"endTime":268.76,"body":"have had having the opportunity"},{"startTime":268.84,"endTime":271.84,"body":"to instill hope in those people."},{"startTime":272.28,"endTime":273.56,"body":"There was a time where"},{"startTime":273.56,"endTime":275.08,"body":"someone came to our counter"},{"startTime":276.16,"endTime":278.12,"body":"and she wanted to get in"},{"startTime":278.12,"endTime":279.68,"body":"order protection"},{"startTime":279.68,"endTime":282.68,"body":"against her child's, father."},{"startTime":282.76,"endTime":285.76,"body":"and she was so broken,"},{"startTime":285.96,"endTime":288.96,"body":"just so down and just"},{"startTime":289.56,"endTime":291.32,"body":"just just out of it, you know?"},{"startTime":291.32,"endTime":293.84,"body":"And we had a ton of paperwork."},{"startTime":293.84,"endTime":295.68,"body":"We had to have her fill out"},{"startTime":295.68,"endTime":298.68,"body":"and I told her, I said, but stop."},{"startTime":299.36,"endTime":302.36,"body":"I said, Mister, let's take a deep breath."},{"startTime":303.48,"endTime":306.32,"body":"She took a deep breath and I said,"},{"startTime":306.32,"endTime":306.96,"body":"let's"},{"startTime":306.96,"endTime":309.96,"body":"think about what your life looks like"},{"startTime":310.8,"endTime":313.2,"body":"in a better light."},{"startTime":313.2,"endTime":316.04,"body":"And I said, just imagine it."},{"startTime":316.04,"endTime":318.04,"body":"And she begin to think."},{"startTime":318.04,"endTime":318.32,"body":"I said,"},{"startTime":318.32,"endTime":320.6,"body":"you have to choose to think this way."},{"startTime":320.6,"endTime":321.68,"body":"And she began to think it."},{"startTime":321.68,"endTime":324.48,"body":"And I literally saying"},{"startTime":324.48,"endTime":326.6,"body":"her"},{"startTime":326.6,"endTime":329.48,"body":"by even her countenance, her her,"},{"startTime":329.48,"endTime":332.2,"body":"her spirit, her face, her"},{"startTime":332.2,"endTime":333.32,"body":"of course, she had a smile."},{"startTime":333.32,"endTime":334.88,"body":"She started talking about,"},{"startTime":334.88,"endTime":335.96,"body":"you know, her children"},{"startTime":335.96,"endTime":337.56,"body":"going to school, preparing for,"},{"startTime":337.56,"endTime":337.96,"body":"you know,"},{"startTime":337.96,"endTime":338.8,"body":"she started talking"},{"startTime":338.8,"endTime":340.44,"body":"and I seen it firsthand."},{"startTime":340.44,"endTime":343.48,"body":"I have several stories of bad men"},{"startTime":343.84,"endTime":346.64,"body":"coming out of jail, getting the,"},{"startTime":348.4,"endTime":348.96,"body":"running into"},{"startTime":348.96,"endTime":351.96,"body":"problems, trying to get stuff expunged."},{"startTime":352.04,"endTime":354.48,"body":"and then their, you know, when,"},{"startTime":354.48,"endTime":356.16,"body":"when they fill out the paperwork wrong,"},{"startTime":356.16,"endTime":357.88,"body":"they like, oh,"},{"startTime":357.88,"endTime":359.76,"body":"you're too close, too quick."},{"startTime":359.76,"endTime":360.84,"body":"Let's go, let's go."},{"startTime":360.84,"endTime":363.84,"body":"Everyone and I, I,"},{"startTime":364.4,"endTime":367.4,"body":"you know, a lot of times, you know, after"},{"startTime":367.44,"endTime":370.2,"body":"conversating with you,"},{"startTime":370.2,"endTime":373.4,"body":"I didn't realize the impact"},{"startTime":373.68,"endTime":377.64,"body":"OHP had on the human mind"},{"startTime":377.64,"endTime":380.04,"body":"and the human body. Physically."},{"startTime":380.04,"endTime":380.92,"body":"I didn't realize that"},{"startTime":380.92,"endTime":382.52,"body":"you brought that to my mind."},{"startTime":382.52,"endTime":384.48,"body":"And you brought that to my attention."},{"startTime":384.48,"endTime":387.64,"body":"Even working with Reverend Jesse Jackson"},{"startTime":388.08,"endTime":389.16,"body":"for pretty much"},{"startTime":389.16,"endTime":392.16,"body":"all of my life, my grandmother was,"},{"startTime":393.04,"endTime":395.56,"body":"his, chef for many years."},{"startTime":395.56,"endTime":399.56,"body":"She served, in the, bread basket."},{"startTime":399.56,"endTime":402.48,"body":"She serve with Rainbow push."},{"startTime":402.48,"endTime":404.72,"body":"and she did Saturday morning breakfast"},{"startTime":404.72,"endTime":406.64,"body":"is any dinners? They did."},{"startTime":406.64,"endTime":407.96,"body":"She was a coordinator. So,"},{"startTime":409.08,"endTime":409.88,"body":"I was"},{"startTime":409.88,"endTime":412.88,"body":"forced to go to Rainbow Push."},{"startTime":414.12,"endTime":416.64,"body":"and then over time,"},{"startTime":416.64,"endTime":418.28,"body":"I developed to love, you know, anywhere"},{"startTime":418.28,"endTime":419.16,"body":"your parents take you to go,"},{"startTime":419.16,"endTime":420.08,"body":"you really don't want to go."},{"startTime":420.08,"endTime":421.8,"body":"But I developed a love,"},{"startTime":421.8,"endTime":423.32,"body":"and they became a family."},{"startTime":423.32,"endTime":423.56,"body":"And."},{"startTime":423.56,"endTime":426.56,"body":"Reverend,"},{"startTime":426.92,"endTime":429.48,"body":"well, every time he get up,"},{"startTime":429.48,"endTime":431.6,"body":"he will say I am somebody"},{"startTime":431.6,"endTime":433.4,"body":"and keep hope alive."},{"startTime":433.4,"endTime":436.6,"body":"So I've heard that my entire life."},{"startTime":437.0,"endTime":439.52,"body":"And it wasn't until,"},{"startTime":439.52,"endTime":440.6,"body":"I had an interaction"},{"startTime":440.6,"endTime":443.48,"body":"with you, thankfully, that I."},{"startTime":443.48,"endTime":446.28,"body":"I noticed what that was,"},{"startTime":446.28,"endTime":447.24,"body":"you know, that"},{"startTime":447.24,"endTime":450.44,"body":"that continued remembering,"},{"startTime":451.04,"endTime":453.28,"body":"choosing to keep hope alive"},{"startTime":453.28,"endTime":456.68,"body":"even in my own situations"},{"startTime":457.04,"endTime":458.72,"body":"where two years ago,"},{"startTime":458.72,"endTime":460.4,"body":"I was in a car accident."},{"startTime":460.4,"endTime":461.52,"body":"I moved to Texas,"},{"startTime":461.52,"endTime":464.36,"body":"and I became a worship pastor there."},{"startTime":464.36,"endTime":466.52,"body":"and I was in a car accident"},{"startTime":466.52,"endTime":468.48,"body":"where I broke my leg."},{"startTime":468.48,"endTime":471.44,"body":"I had to get a rod, and I broke my wrist."},{"startTime":471.44,"endTime":474.72,"body":"and I was unable to take care of myself."},{"startTime":475.08,"endTime":478.16,"body":"I was in a very low place,"},{"startTime":479.4,"endTime":481.12,"body":"and,"},{"startTime":481.12,"endTime":484.32,"body":"my faith in God was still there."},{"startTime":484.96,"endTime":487.96,"body":"But when you see reality,"},{"startTime":490.0,"endTime":491.84,"body":"you know, the church wasn't"},{"startTime":491.84,"endTime":494.04,"body":"financially able to continue"},{"startTime":494.04,"endTime":494.36,"body":"to pay"},{"startTime":494.36,"endTime":496.28,"body":"my salary as well as hire"},{"startTime":496.28,"endTime":497.88,"body":"a new worship pastor,"},{"startTime":497.88,"endTime":498.92,"body":"because it was going to take,"},{"startTime":498.92,"endTime":501.92,"body":"like a long road for me to recover."},{"startTime":502.0,"endTime":503.0,"body":"And they could not,"},{"startTime":503.0,"endTime":504.8,"body":"you know, handle that burden."},{"startTime":504.8,"endTime":507.56,"body":"So, after, you know,"},{"startTime":507.56,"endTime":509.0,"body":"exhausting my savings,"},{"startTime":509.0,"endTime":510.88,"body":"I was at the you know, the barrel."},{"startTime":510.88,"endTime":513.44,"body":"So I had to move back to Chicago"},{"startTime":513.44,"endTime":515.84,"body":"and stay with my parents,"},{"startTime":515.84,"endTime":518.48,"body":"which is for me, was humiliating."},{"startTime":518.48,"endTime":521.28,"body":"I thought, you know, were in there."},{"startTime":521.28,"endTime":523.52,"body":"but,"},{"startTime":523.52,"endTime":527.92,"body":"I had to think two different ways."},{"startTime":527.92,"endTime":531.28,"body":"Either I had two options, either"},{"startTime":531.48,"endTime":534.48,"body":"I was going to wallow"},{"startTime":534.48,"endTime":537.48,"body":"and the reality of where I am now,"},{"startTime":538.12,"endTime":540.2,"body":"or continue"},{"startTime":540.2,"endTime":542.56,"body":"to choose to keep"},{"startTime":542.56,"endTime":544.28,"body":"the hope of a better life,"},{"startTime":544.28,"endTime":546.68,"body":"the hope of a brighter future,"},{"startTime":546.68,"endTime":549.04,"body":"the hope of a better physical."},{"startTime":551.72,"endTime":553.32,"body":"life"},{"startTime":553.32,"endTime":555.68,"body":"during that time, I was 500"},{"startTime":555.68,"endTime":558.68,"body":"and I want to say 30 pounds."},{"startTime":560.08,"endTime":562.36,"body":"but all during that process,"},{"startTime":562.36,"endTime":565.08,"body":"I decided"},{"startTime":565.08,"endTime":565.56,"body":"that the people"},{"startTime":565.56,"endTime":567.4,"body":"that we have to make a decision."},{"startTime":567.4,"endTime":569.12,"body":"I know we should."},{"startTime":569.12,"endTime":572.04,"body":"There's a decision that has to be made."},{"startTime":572.04,"endTime":574.0,"body":"And it's just one decision."},{"startTime":574.0,"endTime":577.0,"body":"That one decision is to keep hope alive."},{"startTime":577.28,"endTime":580.24,"body":"And you will be surprised"},{"startTime":580.24,"endTime":583.12,"body":"how making that one"},{"startTime":583.12,"endTime":585.64,"body":"simple decision"},{"startTime":585.64,"endTime":587.84,"body":"will literally change your life."},{"startTime":587.84,"endTime":590.04,"body":"I am now down to 300."},{"startTime":590.04,"endTime":593.64,"body":"2 years later I'm down 310 pounds."},{"startTime":594.32,"endTime":596.64,"body":"Kathryn, when I get to at the scale"},{"startTime":596.64,"endTime":598.8,"body":"say 299,"},{"startTime":598.8,"endTime":600.24,"body":"y'all don't know me, you hear me?"},{"startTime":600.24,"endTime":601.68,"body":"I'm a be stuck up now."},{"startTime":601.68,"endTime":605.64,"body":"Just planned, but, I decided,"},{"startTime":606.2,"endTime":607.24,"body":"but not only did"},{"startTime":607.24,"endTime":608.4,"body":"I make this decision,"},{"startTime":608.4,"endTime":612.6,"body":"then I noticed , that Kathryn, I'm sorry"},{"startTime":612.68,"endTime":615.52,"body":"that I have to continue"},{"startTime":615.52,"endTime":618.72,"body":"to make that decision almost to the point"},{"startTime":618.72,"endTime":621.72,"body":"where I have to make it on a daily basis"},{"startTime":622.2,"endTime":623.56,"body":"when I wake up in the morning"},{"startTime":623.56,"endTime":627.36,"body":"and we have thought my reality hit,"},{"startTime":628.8,"endTime":631.44,"body":"life happens, you know?"},{"startTime":631.44,"endTime":632.84,"body":"You know, life happens."},{"startTime":632.84,"endTime":636.76,"body":"And, I choose to, to have hope"},{"startTime":637.16,"endTime":640.36,"body":"and it is contagious."},{"startTime":641.08,"endTime":642.16,"body":"Did you know that?"},{"startTime":642.16,"endTime":643.48,"body":"Yes, yes."},{"startTime":643.48,"endTime":644.04,"body":"Like that."},{"startTime":644.04,"endTime":646.32,"body":"Joy. I know."},{"startTime":646.32,"endTime":648.28,"body":"It's contagious."},{"startTime":648.28,"endTime":651.56,"body":"So me being, the way I was raised,"},{"startTime":651.6,"endTime":654.76,"body":"I was raised, in the church, and,"},{"startTime":655.28,"endTime":656.24,"body":"you know,"},{"startTime":656.24,"endTime":657.04,"body":"I don't"},{"startTime":657.04,"endTime":658.72,"body":"know what people feel about,"},{"startTime":658.72,"endTime":661.24,"body":"like, the signs and all that stuff, but,"},{"startTime":661.24,"endTime":662.04,"body":"one of my friends says,"},{"startTime":662.04,"endTime":662.84,"body":"oh, you're a Libra."},{"startTime":662.84,"endTime":663.84,"body":"You're a kind guy."},{"startTime":663.84,"endTime":665.0,"body":"You're so kind. Whatever."},{"startTime":665.0,"endTime":667.48,"body":"But I love, like, people."},{"startTime":667.48,"endTime":669.96,"body":"So when people are down, I don't like it."},{"startTime":669.96,"endTime":670.36,"body":"You know?"},{"startTime":670.36,"endTime":671.68,"body":"I don't like confrontation."},{"startTime":671.68,"endTime":672.92,"body":"I don't like none of that stuff."},{"startTime":672.92,"endTime":675.2,"body":"I'm not like, you know, saying that."},{"startTime":675.2,"endTime":676.64,"body":"Oh, my God, I'm all happy"},{"startTime":676.64,"endTime":677.76,"body":"go lucky all the time."},{"startTime":677.76,"endTime":678.92,"body":"No, I deal with problems,"},{"startTime":678.92,"endTime":680.8,"body":"but I deal with it. Yes, in."},{"startTime":680.8,"endTime":682.28,"body":"Making the choices. But,"},{"startTime":683.72,"endTime":686.08,"body":"I noticed that"},{"startTime":686.08,"endTime":686.64,"body":"when people"},{"startTime":686.64,"endTime":687.96,"body":"would talk to me"},{"startTime":687.96,"endTime":690.44,"body":"and they just get to spilling their,"},{"startTime":690.44,"endTime":691.0,"body":"you know,"},{"startTime":691.0,"endTime":694.0,"body":"their life stories, and it's all negative"},{"startTime":694.0,"endTime":695.8,"body":"and it's all that's all."},{"startTime":695.8,"endTime":698.44,"body":"You don't have to be that way."},{"startTime":698.44,"endTime":699.4,"body":"Here's another way."},{"startTime":699.4,"endTime":701.12,"body":"There's another option."},{"startTime":701.12,"endTime":704.12,"body":"And I'll
