Jesse is the Training Chief for a fire department in Southeast Michigan, where he has served since 2002. He is passionate about taking an innovative approach to training and continuing education. He has presented at various state and national conferences and enjoys learning as much as he can about the fire service. Jesse has a master’s degree in Public Safety & Emergency Management and is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University’s Fire Staff & Command School. He is an Instructor I, Blue Card IMS Instructor and an ISFSI Understanding and Fighting Basement Fires Instructor. 

He places an emphasis on building construction, fire dynamics, strategic level command and operational readiness. He is an active member of the International Society of Fire Service Instructors (ISFSI) and is currently the Committee Chair for the Mentoring/Coaching Initiative. He also serves as a member of the recently launched Professional Development Task Force, and was awarded the ISFSI President’s Service Award in 2021. 

As an instructor, Jesse specializes in curriculum design, educational methodology and educational technology. He was also an original member of the Western Wayne County USAR Team where he served as a Rescue Specialist, Team Leader and Training Coordinator. Jesse continues to seek out new ways to develop, master and maintain the many skills needed by today’s fire service providers.
