Hot diggity dog, this episode I got to sit down at the shop with two of my good friends Trey Baker and Tripp Wallace. Trey owns and operates Southern Speck Outfitters in Tichnor, AR and Tripp guides for SSO! They both are two of the funniest and happy-go-lucky men I've had the pleasure to meet.
We kind of bounced all over the place, but we started off talking about the tiredness and stress that comes with only a week left in duck season. Trey told us about growing up with his dad teaching him everything about ducks and throwing him to the wolves. We talked about Tripp helping Trey and the level of communication that goes into scouting to run a successful outfitter. We talked about goose guiding vs duck guiding. They both told me stories about scouting, patterning geese, and truly understanding huntable birds. We talked about hunting leases and the importance of communication between hunters, guides, farmers, land owners, all of the above. We talked a lot about having new hunters every 3 days, and being your absolute best for them. But we also touched on the attitudes and mindset of hunters understanding they are working their hardest to be able to hunt these birds in the same area.
We talked about Canada and the incredible hunting that is up there, and of course we wrapped up quick with some advice!
We could've talked for another 3 hours, but boy was this an absolute blast! I can't thank Trey & Tripp enough for all their support in everything I'm doing and pushing me to be better every day!
