In this episode, I jumped on the phone with two of my friends - Olivia 'Livy' Armstrong & Maddie Kovach. We met last summer at the Delta Waterfowl Duck Hunters Expo in Little Rock, AR and hit it off. I had the opportunity to go hunt with them this past season at their outfitter. We started off with them both telling me about growing up in the Michigan and Ohio & then moving to Middle Tennessee. We talked about their lives out there, and Livy told me about her relationship with quarter horses and working in a barn growing up. Maddie told me about graduating from Ohio State University with a Zoology degree, and going to work with different waterfowl outfitters for the past six years. We talked about their first ever deer hunt, and how whitetail deer hunting will always have their hearts. They both told me about the outfitter they are running & operating, Blackwater Outfitters, in the Boot-heel of Missouri as well as in Northeast Arkansas. Maddie & Livy told me about working together as a team and the importance of understanding people's attitudes and communication. We talked about the ups and downs of having waterfowl hunting as a job, and we talked about traveling vs. wintering and summering in two different places. We all three touched on overcoming difficult life challenges, and the coping mechanisms we have to implement in our daily lives. And of course, we wrapped up with some advice and the girls told me what they are looking forward to this upcoming year - Livy may or may not have a surprise!

These are two absolutely amazing women. I am so lucky to have both of them in my life as friends, role models, hunting buddies, and businesswomen.
