Battle of the Hazy IPA's
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Summertime adventures and ice-cold hazy IPAs collide in this long-awaited return episode where Rick and Princess catch listeners up on their whirlwind summer travels. From a beautiful mountain wedding in North Carolina's Nantahala National Forest (complete with bourbon and cigar bar) to death-defying tubing escapades that sent bodies flying four feet into the air, every story brings the laughs you've been missing.
The pair recount their white water rafting experience down the frigid Nantahala River in open kayaks—a decision that led to Rick's memorable description of what happens when 55-degree water hits sensitive body parts. You'll feel like you're right alongside them as they navigate Class 3 rapids and the shock of ice-cold mountain water with nothing but paddle power and questionable decision-making skills.
The episode features the ultimate "Battle of the Hazies" as two distinguished IPAs face off for supremacy. Boojum's Blue Ridge Haze from Waynesville, NC brings fruity notes and minimal bitterness to the competition, but can it stand against the surprisingly smooth Double Dry Hopped "Fast Friends" from Derive Brewing in Columbus? The shocking unanimous verdict might have you seeking out these brews for yourself.
Between tales of their annual White Rock river trip (where they made the rookie mistake of drinking all their alcohol on night one) and golf course psychological warfare, Rick and Princess deliver the perfect blend of summer adventures and beer appreciation that will leave you laughing and thirsty for more. Subscribe to their newsletter for photos from these epic journeys, and don't forget to check out their latest shenanigans on TikTok!

Thank you, welcome back to another reason to drink. This is your hostess with the mostest princess and I'm here with my special guests. Why?
Speaker 1am I special? Everybody's special you're in that wheelchair. Ricky rick is there, you're in that wheelchair. Now Ricky Rick is there You're in that wheelchair, in that wheelchair. Yeah, got a helmet on.
Speaker 2Hey, I know it's been a minute since you guys got to hear a fresh new show.
Speaker 1So I hope you got, and what two weeks.
Speaker 2Yeah, I hope you got caught up on everything. We've been very busy and we'll try to keep it fast, quick.
Speaker 1Keep it moving. Yeah, try not to stall on too many stories and fumble.
Speaker 2We'll keep it fast, like Ricky's in bed. That's right, I'm done. Two pump chump. I'm done Two pump chump. There you go. Anyways, tonight we're going to do Battle of the Hazies. So Rick got a hazy and I got a hazy, so go ahead with your hazy, my friend.
Speaker 1So I got Boojum Boojum Blue Ridge H with your hazy, my friend. So I got boojum boojum blue ridge haze. Uh, it's a north new england style hazy out of warrensville, north carolina, and uh, it's a 6.2. I didn't actually try that, you haven't tried it yet. Right, and waynesville, sorry, yeah and I I actually haven't tried it yet.
Speaker 1I just seen it where we were camping at and it was warm and I knew I was going to be gone for a week so I didn't want to get anything cold and let it. You know what I mean. I didn't want the temperature to bounce around. Yeah. So I just picked it up and said here, let's try this one.
Speaker 2Mine is he's already making excuses for his For earlier. Let's try this one, Mine is he's already making excuses for his For earlier.
Speaker 2Yeah, because you got to try yours. I did get to try mine. Mine's called Derive Brewing Company, it is out of Columbus, ohio, and mine's 6.5. It's a one-piner and it is a double dry hoppy haze IPA and it's called Fast Friends and we'll do that the second half of the show. So we'll put that one back in the fridge so it stays cold, and then we're going to jump into this blue ridge haze as we open our beers. You can sit back and listen to some great stories and adventures. This is the adventure show, right?
Speaker 1the the adventure show. Yeah, it's been an adventure.
Speaker 2That's for sure.
Speaker 1So trying to just even go back and remember is hard from the last time, from the last time, whatever, but we'll just start off with a congratulations.
Speaker 2Yes.
Speaker 1To Maddie or Chatty Chatty. We'll call him Chatty Chatty.
Speaker 2He got married.
Speaker 1He's off the market ladies, yep, yep. Well, chaddy is Chad and Maddie together.
Speaker 2Yeah, I know it's Chaddy, so they're both off the market. So they're both off the market yeah. Which is your niece, I mean yeah.
Speaker 1Your niece and your brother's daughter, daughter and now son. Now son-in-law. Congratulations to them. Yeah, but we went for a huge like the whole hood went down to Notta Haley National Forest for this wedding.
Wedding in North Carolina
Speaker 2Yes, In North Carolina. It was beautiful up there, by the way. We had beautiful weather. It was a little warm, but it was nice.
Speaker 1It wasn't horrible up in the mountains, no.
Speaker 2You know what I mean. It was up in the mountains.
Speaker 1Yes, it was, and it took a minute to get there. Yeah, it didn't matter you'd be 10 minutes away or 10 miles away, and it took a minute and it was a half hour yeah, it was a half hour, it didn't fucking matter, yeah, so and we did.
Speaker 2We got to, you know, we did the wedding. That was beautiful and everything, some key things. That was nice. We got to see lots of friends and family and then we haven't seen in a while, the food was phenomenal, phenomenal yeah, it was great and then JJ, who we've had on the show before he set up a little smoke cigar bourbon bar back in the back.
Speaker 1That was nice, that was cool. Yeah, it was cool.
Speaker 2He had some great cigars and bourbons and we did two beers too. A shout-out to I yes, yeah, it was cool. He had some great cigars and bourbons and we did two beers too.
Speaker 1Yeah, shout out to um, I can't remember his name, dang, it's gonna and I don't remember the. Which one of the beers? Uh, I know pictures of them, so I guess and I know one of the beers was like you had to go to that place to get it and he drove all the way he drove, all or no? No, his buddy got it for him yeah, it was like new Hampshire. Something like that yeah, maine, or something like that, yeah, yeah, it was a very, very good beer.
Speaker 2It was like an anniversary type, but that was a stout, and then the other one was an ale, if I'm not mistaken. But it was very good. Which a buddy that. This is the show I'll give, show. I'll have to, well, give you a shout out. We have to hit up jj again, and but anyways, he did it. We did a picture, he sent it to him. Um, it was cool.
Speaker 1Uh, that beer was very good. I enjoyed that one very, very much, and thank you so much for sharing with both of them. Yes, thank you so much for sharing all the things that you brought? Yes, yeah, I mean, the cigars were amazing, the bourbon was amazing everything was hey, yeah everything was great we had a great time.
Speaker 2Actually, jason, the keeper creeper, was there. Yep, he was hanging out with us and them two look amazing. Yes, they really do yeah, they're looking good.
Speaker 1They don't eat nothing yeah, evidently, yeah, they just drink, they just drink. Yeah, I gotta get on their diet. They're on a liquid diet.
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah they got liquid shit, uh we. But we met then we actually went out on the lake the the following day. That was a good time, not a hot lake. Yeah, we were tubing. The lake was beautiful dude.
Speaker 1Okay, so I know I seen you out there. Yes, on it, yeah how sore are you?
Speaker 2no, I didn't get sore. You didn't, no, but Kat was. But I'm not supposed to say anything.
Speaker 1She said damn I feel it, dude. I didn't feel it Sunday on our way home. Yeah, she didn't, it was Monday, monday. Yeah, I was like holy shit. I started just tightening up, I'm like holy cow. And then Tuesday I was like but I was out there probably all together. I was out on that tube for over an hour.
Speaker 2Yeah, she was out there a lot too, because we couldn't knock her off.
Speaker 1Right, yeah, that's what Greg kept trying to do to me. I never fell off.
Speaker 2And the thing she said she didn't notice on Sunday, but then when she woke up monday she was like oh, the bed. She at first thought maybe it was the bed that got her sore or whatever. And then she's like well, maybe it was the car ride. And then you, you know, I said it's probably on that tube yeah, no, because it wasn't my back.
Speaker 1No, it was just my arms arms and shoulders your you know packs kind of like fucking because, you worked them. Oh, you're just holding on for your life. Yeah you know, I got doing fucking 40 miles an hour across, skipping across the water.
Speaker 2She she threw me off.
Speaker 1So yeah, because she was laying completely sideways, I know, completely sideways. We were all like, looking at her, like ethan was on my boat, yeah, and he was like what is she doing? She was like totally on and then my whole side was yeah.
Speaker 2And he was like what is she doing? She was like, totally on. And then my whole side was hitting the water. I was like and then my shorts and everything came off, they were down to my ankles and then you're lucky you didn't lose them, no, and it stretched my peter out a little bit. Oh, that's a good one, because we're so fast.
Speaker 1Yeah Now it's like a pencil.
Speaker 2It's really thin.
Speaker 1It used to be like a marker.
Speaker 2Now it's a pencil. It was a tuna can, now it's a pencil. It stretched it that much.
Speaker 1Well, that's why Greg stopped doing it, because Larry was driving. For a while he was out there he skipped across something and his bottom half fell off and he said he smacked his nuts across the fucking water twice and he just, he was like I've done, he fell off, he was like I'm done I'm done, I'm not getting back on there. He was like you know he smacked his nuts right across on the fucking water.
Tubing Adventures on the Lake
Speaker 1But that fucker had me, he, he was follow, trying to follow people, then catch the waves, the Catch, the wave, yeah. Like how we were doing with Cat. Yeah, dude, I went four foot In the air In the air, dude, I went up Like I was up in the air and then fucking slammed back down. Dude, I was like, holy shit, I went for about another, I don't know.
Speaker 2Same forever. Another 10 minutes.
Speaker 1And I just I was was like I'm done. I told Patty she was watching. I'm like, alright, I'm done, no more. It was beating the hell out of you.
Speaker 2It really did but it was a good time. It was a great time we did that and then everybody pretty much drove back the next day, back to work, back to the ground, back to life. The weather was extremely warm. Now it's cooled off a little bit, which is nice, you know I'm fine with it, yeah so the week before that I that's uh, I went to columbus.
Speaker 2We had a conference there so I was able to pick up this one beer. I kind of looked, I realized, on untapped you could put on there and you can win badges. So but it helps you pick up these breweries. And the guy I was traveling with I said, hey, do you mind going over here? I just want to try this brewery. But they had pizza and stuff. I said, well, we could get something to eat and I could pick up a you know. And he's like sure, you know. And the thing is I think the app helps. This is the untapped app, because I would have never known that place was there. I mean, it wasn't like I mean, you know what I mean.
Speaker 1It wasn't something new, right, right, right yep, but that drawed us in.
Speaker 2You know that's cool yeah, it was cool. Yeah, we, it was very good. Um one cool thing we I mean there was a lot there.
Speaker 1There's so much to do down there there's so much, yeah, but there's a lot of traffic too, right, right, right.
Speaker 2Yeah, but, like even the guy I was traveling with, he says he wouldn't mind living in Columbus but it's expensive. Even with you know, he has kids and he says they have a lot of things for kids but everything costs money. Everything costs money, yeah, but you know they have a zoo and everything down there, but for the most part it's it's nice. You know, um, but it was, it was nice. Uh, work trip, um, you know, I was funny, cause we talk about award that we won, you know. And it was funny cause when they would go down through the categories right, there's like four categories, five categories or four award, five awards you can win, I'm sorry. So, as they're going through it, they would say um won the award, but second would be me.
Speaker 2Then the next one come up, xyz won. But I would come up second. And then I'm thinking shoot. And then they come up to the next one, x, and then when they said what the next category was, I was like, oh, we're definitely second in that one because I seen the score of the other guy. But then they ended up giving it to me. So I won first place in that. And then I was like, oh, and then they hit the next category, xyz, but I was second and then this other place won overall right and I was like how can I be second in everything?
Speaker 2And then come in, not win overall. You know what I mean. Yeah, that doesn't make any sense. So I was teasing like I was rigged.
Speaker 1Yeah, something's going on. Something's going on. It's a little fishy. Who's blowing who here?
Speaker 2You know it kind of reminded me of the thing that they were at the Coldplay concert and I seen them hugging each other.
Speaker 1Oh, yeah, yeah, my boss doesn't love me they were at the Coldplay concert and I seen them hugging each other, oh yeah. My boss doesn't love me enough to hug me.
Speaker 2I seen a meme and it says when you realize your boss doesn't love you enough to take you to a Coldplay concert and hug you.
Speaker 1You know that's when you came in. You won second second. First second second and come in last.
Speaker 2That's a pretty shitty week.
Speaker 1You were just the last one to get cummed in.
Speaker 2Next. But it was a good week and then that's why I ended up missing that week's show. Yeah, because I was that. But then Rick did White Rock, yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, but we were, oh yeah.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, we did White Rock, you did.
Speaker 2White Rock. Yeah, that's right, we did.
Speaker 1White Rock. We did that. That was amazing. It was a great time. We ended up.
Speaker 2I didn't no, we thought we were going to, but it ended up skirting around us.
Speaker 1Oh, really, yeah now just so people know that white rock it did sprinkle on us a little bit, but we were in the river, oh, like we were standing in the river. So we, we were like, hey, what's the matter? But it wasn't nothing stupid. But yeah, white Rock is a yearly guy's trip that we take down the Allegheny River. Yeah, we talked about it last year.
Speaker 2And the reason it's called White Rock is because there's this one boulder that sticks out of the water and it's real white, it's real white. Sticks out of the water and it real white, it's real white. The sun hits it and it like just glows. But the little island right next to it is is amazing has like a little um uh tip to the front of it where you just, when you're out there, you just beautiful well, you get to watch the sunset right there over the mountains and shit like that.
Speaker 1And then, uh, but we did have, uh, oh, four guys roll up on us. Oh, you did on the island, on the island they did.
Speaker 2Where did they stay?
Speaker 1way down or no, they actually ended up staying not too far away, oh really, uh, and we let them. They sat. We were like okay if you're only staying for the night, because we it was our first night and we actually just barely beat these guys out on the water, oh.
Speaker 1But they didn't show up until like six hours later, oh, oh they might have went the other way and come down, you think no, no, no, there is no going the other way, because they were in a canoe, oh, but they just fucked around, oh, they just drank. They got to the island and they were hammered.
Speaker 2They were. They were buzzed. Now there's an island just in front of that one. There's two other islands, but they're not as nice.
Speaker 1No, and there was people down there, whatever, and we tried walking them down to the other end and be like look, you guys can stay here, whatever.
Speaker 2But when we got down there, there it didn't look anything like it did the year before.
Speaker 1It was like all muddy, oh it was, yeah, it was a shithole, yeah. And so we were like all right, and then everything was going fine. And everything did go fine, but then we all got buzzed. So then mark ended up walking over to him and inviting them over to our fire, even though they already had their little fire going. And so then, moral of the story is, we drank all the alcohol, oh, in one night. Oh, in one night, your weekend trip.
Columbus Trip and Awards
Speaker 1Our weekend trip, so, and you have no way of getting any more alcohol. So so we got to it was a sober fat weekend on Saturday. On Saturday, it was literally yeah, we all had sober fat on Saturday. On Saturday, it was literally yeah, we all had two beers. That's all we had left, and there was only three of us drinking beers. So me, you, your brother and David all got two beers and that was it for Saturday. That's a long day, that's just a teaser, yeah, but we waited until way late just to have, just to have them, and so I mean, it was still a beautiful time, very relaxing, that's good, and so it was a good time. But then I got back from that and what?
Speaker 2four days later, we were headed down for the way I headed down to tennessee or oh, that's right, you yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, I headed out almost a week before.
Speaker 2That's why you headed out early, cause I was going to say wait, I was gone all that week, right.
Speaker 1And then I got back off that weekend and then I left out Friday morning at four o'clock in the morning.
Speaker 2That fall on Friday.
Speaker 1Yeah, and that's why we didn't have the podcast then.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's right. Yeah, cause I wasn't even in town, he can't jump.
Speaker 1I was all by myself.
Speaker 2Right yeah.
Speaker 1So yeah, but yeah, we had a great time on that trip, first time hauling the camper that far, that far, yeah, that's a good question because I know listeners have heard us talk about how it handles. How'd it do? It did great, it really did. It did good. Um, of course, it taxed on hours not hours but tax on time.
Speaker 1It takes on time because because, well, it's just big going through the mountains, going through the mountains like I and I didn't. It's not that my truck ain't big enough to pull it, but it's really hard for me to keep a steady, steady, fucking 65 miles an hour without it revving up, without redlining it. Yeah, you know what I mean. Uh, so, but it pulled great and we made it down there and back and everything else that's good, that's good.
Speaker 2And then, um, yeah, then that's when I came back, I ended up packing, I ended up working a few days and then jetted, right, yeah, but I just drove down. I stayed in that yurt, that's right, our yurt, yurt, and that yurt was nice. I like that yurt.
Speaker 1It was beautiful. Yeah, people don't know what it is.
Speaker 2It's like a round tent. It's a a full bathroom and like a kitchen in it.
Speaker 1Well, did it have a fireplace in it? No, it didn't have a wood burner.
Speaker 2Because a lot of them are built for wood burners and stuff like that. Oh, that would make sense why they have that hole on the top.
Speaker 1Yeah, Well, it's just so odd it's a very thick material and stuff like that it actually had a liner. People live in them yeah.
Speaker 2I can see that they literally them. Yeah, I guess they literally live in them. This one had a split unit because I made sure that it had ac okay, so it did have heat.
Speaker 1Yeah, it just didn't have a wood burner?
Speaker 2no, yeah yeah, it was very beautiful, but up there, you know, it would get cold enough that your split unit might not work.
Speaker 1Oh, absolutely because, like because we did some whitewater rafting and we were talking to the kids there, and we were talking to the kids there and we were like all right, so what's your winter's like around here? They said January you got not so much snow, but you're in the teens.
Speaker 2Oh, and that would have trouble with us.
Speaker 1Yeah so the snow comes, you'll get a couple inches, but it's usually gone by two o'clock. Oh, it melts away. You know what I mean, but I mean, but at night you're still down in the teens.
Speaker 2Yeah, that's cool, you know so, and I didn't see any, but you could probably do a space heater.
Speaker 1Yeah, that's why I was wondering if it had a wood burner in it. They might have had a space heater in it, Because I mean you could throw a wood burner in them things instantly. Yeah, you just get the right out for it.
Speaker 2Yeah, it was nice, I would do it again. I actually, you know people always go anytime someone goes down south, they always think, oh, I'd love to buy something like that. I just tell Kat well, this could be our new place, you could just always come back here. It would be like you own the yurt, yurt. Yurt, yurt, yeah, yeah, but or you could use something else. You know what I mean. No, yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1Instead of buying something. But, like my idea was, if I did ever get big money and stupid money is, just make a. They're like pavilions, right that you can put your camp runner, pull your camp runner or use it as a awning for your camper whatever, and then have it yeah, have an outdoor space and then you just have them everywhere.
Speaker 1You just buy the land and you just have this like you know, fucking a quick little run, a little bit electric, it's all you really need. Yeah, if you got a camper, you know, and then just back it up to it and here I'm here for the day or a week, whatever, and then you're off and then go off to another one.
Speaker 2Yeah, almost like your own private camping spot, basically, yeah, yeah pull up.
Speaker 1yep, yeah, I mean that would be the cheapest way to do it. It really yeah, yeah, you know just multiple spots all the way, wherever, wherever, wherever you found it beautiful, and Nantahala, I'm telling you, I think that would be one spot. Yeah, that was a beautiful beautiful area. We went up to a couple of the lakes up there, beautiful, huh, gorgeous.
Speaker 2They had a lot of rivers there.
Speaker 1They had a lot of rivers, they had a lot of lakes. They had Fontana Lake, cheniti Lake or something like that. We kayaked that, we kayaked the Naha Lake and then we went by the Fontana Lake. You didn't go in that one.
Speaker 2No, but you went down the rapids though too. Yes.
Speaker 1Yeah, we went down the river. Dude, that was. I'm telling you what you guys would have loved it. You guys would have loved that. I'm telling you what you guys would have loved it. You guys would have loved that. I'm wondering if the Chris's kids did it I haven't talked to them yet. The biggest one was a Class 3. Oh, I like that. It's not horrible, but when you're in them it's fun, ain't it.
Speaker 2It's a lot bigger. It's a lot bigger than you're like. This is only a Class 2? Holy shit.
Speaker 1Ah, look at how you're like.
Speaker 2What's a class three?
Speaker 1Yeah, dude, we got down there, I'm like, but we were on duckies, yeah, and as long as you kept them straight, you're fine. You kind of bounced off the rock and it just kind of pushed you through that, through. That's why you know, I mean so like they didn't offer us helmets, oh, because they knew I, I guess, I don't know. To me it just felt like like I don't know, you're in thin water with a lot of boulders. Yeah, you should probably have a helmet.
Speaker 1Yeah, I just just moving that fast because you were getting going like it was you know, but it but the duckies were a little different on the steering, and because we went down and watched them and we were like, well, there's little kids coming down. You know, and it was 35 bucks a person that's not bad With no guide, and then it jumped to 70 bucks a person with a guide Per person.
Speaker 2Per person.
Speaker 1Person, that's a lot so I'm like, well, no, I don't. I see these little kids coming down, yeah, and we actually know how to kayak. I mean, maybe not white water, but we know how to steer, we know the fundamentals of kayaking, yeah. And so I was like, no, we're gonna, we, we could do, we got this and we didn't neither. Neither of us tipped them over I'll tell you what, though, that first rapid?
Speaker 1yeah, the first thing it did, that water came right over because you're you're in an open kayak yeah, it's not enclosed at all, and that water was like 55 50 degrees oh, my nuts were in my throat I was just like holy, holy shit. She was like are you choking on water?
Speaker 2I was like no, my nuts, it was bad, I mean, but after a while you got used to that.
Speaker 1You know what I mean. So it wasn't didn't make a difference. It didn't make a difference, cause then what I was surprised on is how dry my mouth was, oh why. I don't know if it was the adrenaline or like I was just like a lot of party in the war.
Speaker 2No no.
Speaker 1Cause like it was on Wednesday, like we didn't really party throughout the week. You know I'd have a couple beers when we got back to campsite or whatever, but I even I even turned around to her. I'm like is your mouth dry? She was like I can't swallow. I like I was literally reaching into the river fucking, just kind of splashing a little bit in my mouth. I think it was the adrenaline, and then we just had our mouth open like oh my god like like we're gonna die, but no, it was, it was fucking crazy.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, it was, it was crazy, it was, it was absolutely. But they weren't bad enough to where I don't think you guys couldn't have done.
Speaker 2Oh, okay you know I wouldn't did it.
Speaker 1the only part that I don't like of your whole story is the cold water, the cold water, I'm not a big fan of cold water, but like I said, once you made it through the first rapid, the cold water was not an issue anymore. It was stay alive, stay alive.
Speaker 2Stay alive. Stay alive Just paddling away. Stay alive yeah alive, just paddling away. Stay alive. Yeah, it was crazy when you went down the way.
Speaker 1Stay alive.
Speaker 2Even though they weren't that bad, I know.
White Rock River Trip
Speaker 1We were passing 70-year-old guys that were just sitting there flipping around in circles in their little thing. They're like not when you fucking get up.
Speaker 2They're like helicopter. Helicopter, yeah, it was, was crazy. But hey, we better rate this one. Yep, oh, so, um, what we'll do here? Because we'll put them against each other, right, all right. So just do a regular, like we would rate it, and then, when we drink the other two, then you might re-rate this one. Does that make sense? Or re-rate, uh, well, because you know what that one tastes like, okay, okay. So what do you think on this one?
Speaker 1so I'm actually liking this beer. It actually is pretty good. It is really good. Yeah, it's got a nice fruit flavor. It's got a nice fruit flavor there. I don't have that bitterness no, very slight.
Speaker 2Yeah, very, very, very. Yeah, I would keep it. I would keep it. I would keep it, I would definitely keep it, so it would be a Jason Keeper.
Speaker 1Creeper, would you princess it?
Speaker 2or no. So here's the thing I'm going to say yes for IPA drinkers yeah, I could see that. Yep, because it's good.
Speaker 1So I would princess it. I'm going to go. I got a number in my head. I'm going to go. I got a number in my head. I'm going to go eight. That's what I had. I was going to say seven five I'm like it's a good eight.
Speaker 2It is a strong eight yeah, and this is pretty, but this is a New England style hazy, which is rare that I like A New England yeah, because normally I typically don't.
Speaker 1They're a little more Bitter right because, normally I typically don't.
Speaker 2They're a little more, uh, bitter, bitter yeah they have a little more of that bitterness to it this one doesn't.
Speaker 1It doesn't I was, it was has a little more of that fruity taste to it and normally they don't. Yes, and it's good it's smooth. It's a little bit smooth too yeah, it is, yeah, yeah, absolutely so so they're doing a good job, yeah bojum bojum.
Speaker 2I mean this wouldn't be a bad place. We looked up online the brewery itself and it looked like it had a lot of good food to the location as well as a lot of different brews. Now they sold this a lot. Down in the area where we were, I did see a lot of people drinking this one down there the Bojum's.
Speaker 1I seen a lot of the Bojum. It was that lager one.
Speaker 2Yeah, it seemed like everybody was drinking, so um, it was. Uh, I can't a little bit more down beer right there the lager yeah, it's called premium, something I can't see belgium light, lager, crisp and easy drinking 4.5.
Speaker 1That's probably a daily drinker. It's just a daily drink.
Speaker 2People seem like they were drinking that as a daily drinker, but the restaurant itself looks nice as well. And then um the location and everything they look like they got you're pretty good like typical pork sandwiches, hamburgers, and they got a few other little appetizers and stuff that look I mean, that looks like a pretzel thing, but they got some kind of sandwich, a long bun.
Speaker 1It's like a flatbread. It's a Cuban, a Cuban on a flatbread, yeah.
Speaker 2I mean, everything looks good, you know, making me hungry. Actually, we had a good dinner, supported by our local people in the neighborhood. My signature, what do you call it? Cheesy potatoes.
Speaker 1Oh, cheesy potatoes. I saved mine because I'm going to steal that recipe. It was good shit, dude. Yeah, yeah, it was really good, they knocked it out of the park. Yeah, they got a goose, I'm not a big goose?
Speaker 2I'm not a big goose fan yeah, but a mimosa goose, a mimosa, oh, it's a sour, ale yeah.
Speaker 1Well, that might be good, I don't know. Try it, try everything once.
Speaker 2It's hard to find. Their chicken wings look good and stuff. Even they have live music and different events and stuff, so that would be something to check out. I would probably recommend going there, wouldn't you? Absolutely?
Speaker 1I mean if you're down in Waynesville.
Speaker 2North. Carolina stop in.
Speaker 1Yeah, stop in and check it out. Tell them who Another Reason Drinks sent you. Anyways, what we'll do. And then tell them who Another Reason Drinks is. Yeah, because they don't know.
Speaker 2We're going to take a quick break, though, and we'll get another ice cold one, yep and we'll come back with more adventures.
Speaker 1We'll come back and tell you a little bit more about these nuts.
Battle of the Hazies: Round Two
Speaker 2These and tell you a little bit more about these nuts. These nuts, no Talk to. You got a nice ice cold one, like we do. We're gonna jump into the fast friends, but we might have a few jokes. I got a joke joke for you, rick. Okay, what do you call why do teachers never fart in public? Or what do you call them Silent tutors?
Speaker 1a private tutor. Private tutor.
Speaker 2You already knew that. What do you? What do you call? What did the one boob say to the other boob? I don't know, if we don't start getting some support around here, they're gonna think we're nuts. That's pretty good and that's a good dad joke. I just told that a couple weeks ago. Oh, it's on the show, it's a whole one. Then do you know, uh?
Speaker 1he's already got a grin on his face. What do you? Uh well, do you know that police hotlines and glory holes both take anonymous tips?
Speaker 2And they do, don't they?
Speaker 1So what do kids on the Make-A-Wish program and milk have in common?
Speaker 2And milk. Yeah, I don't know something about the carton, probably Expiration. Yeah, I don't know Something about the carton, probably Expiration dates.
Speaker 1Oh, that's mean oh man.
Speaker 2Why do priests do baptisms? I don't know. They like to wash their toys. I always liked the priest one.
Speaker 1So what do Nikes and cops oh, wait a minute. And what does Nikes and black people have in common?
Speaker 2I don't know.
Speaker 1It makes them run fast.
Speaker 2No, you said that wrong. Yeah, no, it's something. Oh, that's what it was. What does Nike?
Speaker 1and KKK have in common it makes black people run fast. You said that wrong.
Speaker 2Yeah, no, it's something. Oh, that's what it was. No, no. What does Nike and KKK have in common? They make bike people run faster. Nothing, nothing in common.
Speaker 1No, there was one more. No, there was one more. Good Lord, that was good. Oh, what was it? Damn it, can't remember now.
Speaker 2Thank God.
Speaker 1There was one. Remember that. Oh, there was a good one. No, it wasn't that bad. No, it was a dad's.
Speaker 2It was a dad joke, uh remember the little cartoon character came up, um, can't remember, it'll come to you. Let's do this divine, yep wait no arrive derive, derive brewing company.
Speaker 1Now the battle the battle, the battle. This is where it begins Kind of smells the same, not going to lie.
Speaker 2Taste how smooth? Yeah, that's the winner. That's good. That's the winner. Yeah, that is good. That is the winner.
Speaker 1That is fucking good. I'm not going to lie.
Speaker 2First sip.
Speaker 1Do you get?
Speaker 2any bitterness or anything. None, none, none, whatsoever.
Speaker 1When I tried this, I said good lord, this is Now. This is a hazy.
Speaker 2Double hazy.
Speaker 1Double hazy.
Speaker 2Yeah, See, I gotta remember the double hazy, the double. This is a double dry hazy.
Speaker 1So I wonder is it the double dry that makes it so smooth? I don't know. It's wonderful, ain't it?
Speaker 2You know what I mean. Or the double hazy.
Speaker 1Yeah, you know what I mean. Yeah, because I know most double hazies are pretty smooth. We like them.
Speaker 2This one's very good, a double dry, double dry.
Speaker 1What was your brother's nickname? Double, double.
Speaker 2Double, double, double, d, double, double. We used to call them double. That way, they get old days, they get old days. What do you think of this, though? Phenomenal ain't it?
Speaker 1That's really good dude. I know Like this could be an everyday drinker.
Speaker 2Yes, Like honestly.
Speaker 1For an IPA, a hazy IPA. Somebody come up to me and say my P hazy ipa. Somebody come up to me and say, ah, your, my pas are disgusting, whatever. No like this. No, this is not anything, oh.
Speaker 2But I know I tasted this.
Speaker 1I said, oh, I gotta take this back now, I'm not gonna lie, you do get a little bitterness. Yeah, yeah, on the very, very on the glug, glug, very, like I know.
Speaker 2And it's very slight too. You know what I mean, right? Yeah, I mean it. I mean it, updated it finally updated.
Speaker 1It finally got there we're talking about the pc because it keeps going. We're having technical difficulties right now.
Speaker 2Yeah, but we downloaded it and then it worked per minute. And then, but this, when I went there and I was like trying different things and because they had a lot that you could take home, and I was like, well, what am I gonna take, then I, uh, I said, well, what's the popular one? And then I tried this one. I was like, do you know, I did a little shot and I was like, oh, I took a full glass of it. I said I gotta take this back no, it's, it's very good, very smooth.
Speaker 2So you know, right off the bat, it's called fast friends.
Speaker 1Yes, fast friends. Yeah, and it's a cool can. Yeah, it really is.
Speaker 2And you're kind of happy. It's a big one yeah.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, and now I really like it a lot smaller.
Speaker 2Smaller is better. The smaller is the better I actually. This is princess.
Speaker 1Absolutely.
Speaker 2And then I would keep this as a Jason free. Yeah, I would definitely.
Speaker 1I would almost keep this as a. That's one of them buttons. Yeah, I would almost keep this as a daily. Yes, you know what I mean. Like I, this would be in my fridge.
Speaker 2Yes, if I could would be in my fridge, yeah, if I could local and get a hold of it, it's good. And what's the 6.9? Oh, hell, yeah, no 6.5. So we're going to six percent. I know, you know, the other day we played golf, which me and rick did. Good, yeah, yeah. And I went home, I, I, you know it was hot, right, and I was drinking, it was, we were both drinking a little bit because it was hot. But you know, um, I went home and I said you know what, I'm gonna have a couple more beers, right. So I had one beer, but I was kind of like drinking them a little bit slower. But there was a, um, bud light, uh, platinum, right, okay, and there was just one I said I'll drink this, right, yeah, but aren't those like?
Speaker 16.9 or something like that.
Speaker 2Man that hit me hard. Oh yeah, I don't know why, but they're really sweet.
Speaker 1I remember I've tried them before. They're really sweet. They go down easy. They go down easy, but they're sweet as shit, man.
Speaker 2That one hit me hard, man. I was like I was like drank it, and then I was like, oh man, and then I was sleeping like a baby.
Speaker 1I did not want to get up, so I wanted to talk to you about golf, our golf game. Okay, like we did, decent.
Golf Stories and Sabotage
Speaker 2We did good. We did good yeah. But so on the sixth hole, if you remember this, five, six, yeah, yeah, on the sixth hole yeah, we hit it up on the side, yep, and then we hit it on the edge and you were back there swinging while I was caught, while I was teeing off, or maybe it was after I teed off.
Speaker 1Whatever, yeah, but that kid, oh yeah, no no, no, yeah that guy, yeah, he told me that he told you he goes. Oh, you know you're, you're moving your hands and everything and you swung out of your fucking golf stance on the next hole. Yes, and we lost by one. I know, do you think he did it on purpose? Dude, to get in your head, I might I?
Speaker 2see where you're going.
Speaker 1I think he did it on purpose, because they knew how close we were to winning yes and we didn't. And we didn't, we had no clue. And he was like Let me just give this guy a tip. Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2Let me just give this guy the tip. My foot went twisted.
Speaker 1Oh, dude you fucking swung right out of your shoes, yeah. And then he was like yeah, that was our one that we needed, because they knew they couldn't count on me, but we birdied that one.
Speaker 2We did, but Only because that second shot. That was a miracle, right, right. But you know what I'm saying?
Speaker 1Yeah, he was trying to get in the fucking head Because we were keeping up with him. Good, we were keeping right up with him.
Speaker 2Yeah, you're right, dude. I honestly, because he's a I don't know Mm-hmm.
Speaker 1Mm-hmm.
Speaker 2Like I don't. We had a little bit of competition.
Speaker 1Yeah, we don't. I don because he just seems like a dick, but he's not. He was a nice guy. But at the end of the day, I'm like I started thinking about that on my way home from work. I'm like, dude, that's why he put that in Billy's head, just to fucking. You know, because I'm so inconsistent. You were pretty consistent. Yeah, I was trying to dial it in.
Speaker 1Yeah, you were consistent, yours was playable. Yeah, and I would have been playable and it could have gave us a chance, right so and, but we still burned.
Speaker 2And the funny thing is is we did go in the woods and we were behind some trees. Rick, I, I, I maybe done this shot like three times before. Right? No, that was my third time probably. Yeah, and rick's done it a couple times and I always count on him. He, he went in and hit it, but then it got a little height to it.
Speaker 1It got too much height. Yeah, it wouldn't have mattered where it was going, did it just do it again?
Speaker 2But it hit the tree and then it came down. So then I said, okay, so I pull out my club and I'm like Rick, do I hold it like this, Wait to the front, Do I put my hands forward?
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I said how do I hit this?
Speaker 2And I was like he said you just hit it.
Speaker 1And I said, and it rolled up within like feet of the hole and we ended up birdieing it.
Speaker 2Yeah, so it was. It went like I was doing the math. It went like 160 yards, yeah, through underneath all that, underneath all these trees. It barely got off the ground.
Speaker 1It was a good game. We're getting better. Every week we stroke a little more we stroke.
Speaker 2A little more, a little less, a little less, a little less. Yeah, yeah, a little less. It's time for Ricky's Bad. Choices, or whatever Choices, choices it's time for ricky's bad choices, or whatever it is the choices it is bad decisions.
Speaker 1It was bad decisions that came, the choices that turn into choices yeah like oh, do I take the blue pill or the red pill? Damn it, why is my dick hard or why is it soft?
Speaker 2have you ever blamed your shit personally on your zodiac sign, like where you said damn, I'm not a zodiac kind of person. Zodiac zodiac yeah, no, it's a zodiac no, yeah, but the same thing. You know, like I'm a gemini, you're're a Taurus Taurus and a lot of people will be like oh, I'm a Taurus. I know chicks that won't date guys if they're certain Right.
Speaker 1Yeah.
Speaker 2They really believe that? Right, but I've never blamed my shit on that.
Speaker 1No, no, I mean, I know. I mean, I know I'm bullheaded. Mm-hmm, you know what I mean, and I've heard that my whole life. Oh, you're a Taurus, you're bullheaded, and okay.
Speaker 2So do you play that route?
Speaker 1I don't play that route because of it, Because I mean I am bullheaded, but I'm just no, I'm confident in my decision.
Speaker 2Yeah, I'm bullheaded, I'm bullheaded, so that's a big no on that one.
Speaker 1Okay, have you ever hung like an ox? I'm hung like a horse.
Speaker 2I'm a Gemini, I got twice as much.
Speaker 1So Gemini is the Twins, the twins yeah.
Speaker 2I am a twin. You are a twin. Yep, I got magic powers.
Speaker 1No.
Speaker 2Just two guys with little d little legs which make up one dick you gotta have two of you to get one we can pound from the front and back. We got two holes anyways. Would you ever have sex again in your life for three million dollars? Never have sex again in your life for $3 million. Never have sex? I mean for $3 million. I don't know if I could do it. Nah, nah, give me when I'm about 80. Well, wait a minute though.
Speaker 1I mean sex, right, so you could beat off, I could beat off.
Speaker 2Yeah.
Speaker 1For $3 million. Dude, they got a lot of toys there's so many fucking toys out there.
Speaker 2right now they got real live dolls.
Speaker 1They got real live dolls Like I'm not having sex.
Speaker 2I'm not having sex with this doll, I mean.
Speaker 1Is a blowjob considered sex? Not, according to presidents.
Speaker 2I mean, those guys are sworn under oath, yeah and they say no, they say no, no, so you probably will pay for blow jobs forever for three mil. I'm with you on that one and they can't.
Speaker 1I'll just take the red pill and they can't get pregnant. I'll just take the red pill and they can't get pregnant. They can't get pregnant, yeah.
Speaker 2Would you date someone just because they have a nice car? Oh, would you date someone if they had a nice car? No, just because I could care less. Yeah, I could care less too. I could care less. Yeah, I could care less. Dude, I've dated an Amish girl in a wheelchair.
Speaker 1It was nicer in my car at that time, his shoes taking my ass to work.
Speaker 2It was electric. What's that one? What's the difference? They said what's the difference between? I can't think it was about a parking spot. What's the difference between Handicap parking? No, it's the difference between sex and finding a parking spot. Yeah, they're both hard, and then you just drive around and then you put it in the handicap one and hope no one finds out.
Speaker 1Okay, it made me think of that.
Speaker 2Anyways, if you were broke, would you keep a lost wallet full of cash, even if the owner's ID was inside? So you found a wallet full of cash and you're broke as shit Broke as shit, wondering where your next meal is. No, I think you found it godly. You know what I mean, but at the same time you feel guilty, so I would probably give it back, I guess how hungry are you?
Speaker 1right, I guess, how hungry you are, how close you are? Yeah, that's true, you know what I mean. Like what, if you're in, you're homeless down in miami and they're from ohio. Well, how the fuck are you giving it back to him? Now, what I would do is take the money and drop it in a mailbox. Oh, the wallet. Drop the wallet in the mailbox and then mail it, and then at least he would get his ID, because don't they normally won't they do that? Yeah, they'll mail it free. Yeah, they'll be like somebody dropped this off.
Speaker 2Yeah, you know what I mean. Did I ever tell you the story? I left my wallet in an airplane no yeah, I left my wallet in the air um airplane and the guy that got an airplane behind me got it and he was like somewhere like the plane went to like I don't know um californ, california, or something like crazy like that, or um Oregon. It went to Oregon or something like that, right, and uh, he hit me up, found me and mailed it to me next day. Oh, that's awesome yeah.
Speaker 1It was all there, everything.
Speaker 2I was like thank you, Thank you. He's like no problem. No, don't worry about it, man, I appreciate your service because my service ID was in there, oh yeah. So, I was like, oh yeah, he said that's how I found you.
Speaker 1Except for the naked pictures of cats, they weren't in there, no more.
Speaker 2They were sticking together.
Speaker 1He's like yeah, I was like shit, I'm keeping these.
Speaker 2You'll find them on the internet. No, he looked at them and said I feel bad for the guy, Just mailed him no Fucking roast beef.
Speaker 1That's me Roast beef.
Speaker 2Shit, this guy's eating good.
Speaker 1Those are kneecaps or nipples.
Speaker 2I already see what do you call that sauce coming out of there Horse rider sauce Horse rider.
Speaker 1Anyways, let's move on. That's so good. She doesn't listen to this show. By the way, this brewery was great. I love this brewery, or I love this beer.
Speaker 2I didn't get food at this one I was full, but it was a nice brewery. There was a lot of nice people there, Just a small little quaint one. It was pretty cool. By far, it won tonight's award. Now what would you rate this?
Speaker 1It beat mine. I'm 9.5. I don't know if I want to go 10, because I know we've had just a little bit better because that bitterness we've had some without no bitterness, but it's smooth. It is smooth, yeah. Are you going 10? I'm going 10 are you really?
Speaker 2yeah, it's pretty, I'll go 10. I'll go 10 with you.
Speaker 1I will, you would keep this, almost I would.
Speaker 2I would keep this, I would definitely keep this, but it just had that little bit of dry bitterness on the back and it takes a minute to build up and so I'm wondering if that's that dry.
Speaker 1Hoppy, the double dry, that's finally getting up, that's finally getting to it. But the double dry isn't whack. No, it absolutely not. And I mean the first half the beer. You never even knew it was there.
Speaker 2No, it builds up, it just builds up on the back but oddly enough, when I was drinking this there that happened to me too, and I noticed if, when it got warmer, it got more intense, that very well could be because, look, we're sitting here with our hands on the beer.
Speaker 1The whole time. Yeah, and everything else. Intense. That very well could be, because, look, we're sitting here with our hands on the beer the whole time, yeah and everything else, so that very well could be sweating yeah but very good.
Speaker 2I mean, if you're in that area, I would. I would definitely now one thing is is I did remember I got us decals for this place right, because they use like a three head that kind of almost looks like the easter island type oh, look at but side view or whatever, anyways.
Speaker 2Um, they had another logo which I like better, and when I give you the decal, you'd be like oh yeah, because I, I remember buying us, um, decals now, oh yeah, yeah. So I got you some decals. So, and speaking about decals, rick's wall is filling up, it's coming, it's coming together, yeah I remember when it it barely would be, just just a couple here.
Speaker 2Yeah, it's, it's coming together, it's now we're on the picture of it and yeah send it out and put it maybe on. Oh, and it made me think. We got some great photos of me and rick um this past week, so I'm gonna create the newsletter and send it out.
Speaker 1So you forgot to send me them pictures too, by the way. Oh, I thought I did.
Speaker 2Oh well, anyways. Well, I'll get them to you, but I'm going to put it out on a newsletter. So, uh, if you want to get a copy of the newsletter, just go to another reason to drinkcom and subscribe to our newsletter, and you'll get that and I'll send it out to you guys, and then you'll be able to um, see what I'm talking about some of this fun stuff because we we played around with a couple photos.
Speaker 2Uh, there's a good photo of me and jason creeper, my other brother, my twin brother, so that that's cool well, yeah, I mean, there's a picture of all of us oh yeah, drinking some of the beers. Drinking some of the beers, like there is like everybody who's been on the show.
Speaker 1Yeah, yeah, it was actually in that photo. Yeah, everybody who's been on the show. Yeah, yeah, it was actually in that photo. Yeah, everybody who's been on the show, please subscribe. That's cool.
Speaker 2And we'll get it right out to you. Okay, I'll give you guys a minute or two to get in it, anyways, and don't forget to go on to tick talk. Another reason to drink and check out our new, latest oh ticky tocky. We haven't done a ticky-tocky for a while. One came up and I said, hey, let's do this real quick. But Rick played into some of the comedic fun.
Speaker 1Yeah, I was like no, we had to step this game up a little bit, had to throw a little Ricky Flair in it.
Speaker 2And it's great, ricky, beautiful Ricky, ricky Flair. Anyways, woo, woo, rick F, ricky Flair.
Speaker 1Anyways, woo, woo, ricky Flair. Oh, speaking about Ricky Flair, oh yeah, let's save that Till next week. Till next week, because we're running late.
Speaker 2Yeah, this is a little bit longer, so we'll keep it shorter this week, yeah, but we got a couple things.
Speaker 1But next week. Here let's give a little teaser. Yeah what about all these wrestlers dying? I know what do you think and honestly I wanted to give a big RIP to fucking.
Speaker 2Ozzy, yes, yes.
Speaker 1Oh, I want to do a song tonight.
Speaker 2Oh, we'll say that. So we're going to have to say that for next week. Like, like, put something together Real cool.
Speaker 1Yeah, absolutely Like we got to do a big Ozzy tribute. Cool, yeah, we absolutely like we got to do a big ozzy tribute well, I don't know if we're allowed to or what.
