A heist that goes wrong is inherently intriguing cinema, and perhaps none have done it better or more simplified than Sidney Lumet’s Dog Day Afternoon from 1975. Even 40 plus years later, this movie is still just as entertaining, hilarious, tense, and enjoyable as it was the day it was released.
