Welcome back to Coaching for Coaches. My name is Denise Walsh, and today we are going to talk to a 90-day U-turn client who started off three months ago, rating her life at a 36 out of 100. We're going to hear a bit more about her rock bottom and why she was like ready for something to change and why she said yes to 90-day U-turn, knowing that if she could have figured it out already, she would have, right? And after three months within the program and within our community, she's now rating life at a 71. So stinking cool. So big welcome to Lisa. Hi, thank you so much. Yay. I'm glad to have you. Thank you for saying yes to being interviewed and sharing a bit of your story. So let's talk about this 36 number. When you got started with us three, four months ago, you knew that life needed to change. You're ready for something new. Tell us a bit about what was going on back then.
SPEAKER_01So what was going on back then is I really hit my rock bottom. And there may be some tears here flowing, but it's okay. It's all good. I was at rock bottom and I had the opportunity to join this program. I was just stuck. I was stuck and miserable in every aspect of my life and the relationships, they were just straining. There was just so much drama that I was stuck in. I wasn't really setting any boundaries. I didn't have a clarity on where I wanted to go in life. You know, no, I wanted to start my own business, no, I want to get a job. Like there was just so many obstacles in my way with moving forward that my head was so distracted. And I just couldn't seem to get out of the pit. So I was just stuck and completely hopeless. And um, then this program, you know, appeared, and I was like, okay, this is a shot for me to, you know, get out of my own stuckness.
SPEAKER_00So well, let's talk about that because I think sometimes we stay stewing. It sounds like there was a lot of drama happening, um, which is distracting. It's like it's like you, it's hard to live in the world of dreams if there's a lot of drama. Um, and not that you or anybody's being dramatic, but it's just like lots of emotions happening. There's relationships that are pulling you and asking for lots of help or whatever the case may be. But then also you're like, I don't even know what I want. I just know I don't want to be here anymore. And so sometimes if we don't really know what we want, we take a step forward, two steps back. We're not really sure of the path because is this what we really want, or do we want this? And then is this the right thing to do to get, you know? And then so there's a lot of insecurity, a lot of one step forward, two steps back, and a lot of spinning. How long did you sit? Would you say you kind of were sitting in this stuck spot? I would say two years. Okay. And I've been there too, you guys. Like, we I feel like everybody listening are like, Lisa, we get it. We've done that.
SPEAKER_01Two years, two years back and forth just spinning, trying to make a decision, making a move, then you know, retreating back on the couch, curled up in a ball, you know, stuck in fight or flight, not knowing which direction to take. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I think we we we we as humans think a few things. We think, oh, this too shall pass, or we think, I can't believe I'm not figuring it out, and we beat ourselves up. Like we think it's either gonna get better on its own, or we think it's never gonna get better, and we totally suck. Did you have did you land in either of those camps?
SPEAKER_01It was the failure, totally sucked. Okay, I just gave up. I was just giving up and surrendering and saying, I don't even know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So you were internalizing it and being like, well, if I was good enough, I would have done it already and I must suck. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Been there too. Everybody listening has been there as well. This is like a part of the growth process because I think when we're feeling when we were like sinking in the mud, um we either hope for something else to come get us and save us, um, or we just fall further into the mud, you know. Um anything else that was going on in that time that you want to bring up?
SPEAKER_01So it was a stress with the finances too. Having no job. Yeah, having no job, not bringing in income, my financial uh I got myself in debt. Okay. Okay.
SPEAKER_00So then it again felt like a mountain. And when things feel like a mountain, it feels really heavy and hard to start. I found.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Okay. So then 90-day turn came and you had the opportunity to be a part of it. And now I want to spend a minute here because some people it comes into their Facebook feed or whatever, or they know someone else who's done it, and they could say, Oh, good for you, but that's not for me, or nothing could help me, or even when they're presented with an opportunity, they don't take advantage of it. So, why did you choose to say yes?
SPEAKER_01Because I know another friend of mine who did the program and it absolutely worked, it had amazing results for her. So she invited me to join this program, and I did it, and it completely changed me. So just seeing the results in her, she not only changed herself and so many things about her own health and uh her own minds and body, she changed her business. Yeah. And got the clarity.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You saw like the turnaround of a friend, and I think that gave you confidence too. But then you also were at a place where you're like, I can't keep doing the same thing and expecting different results.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So one thing I love about 90 D U turn is it truly is a path to follow to kind of get you unstuck and re-sparked with the community, the accountability, the program itself is a guide. I've had people say, I know I needed to heal in this area, but like how? Or I know I needed to figure this, but like I don't know how. And so I feel like the exercises we do are like that next step to figuring out what do I want, what's been holding me back, releasing those things and then going after it. And you are ready to finally go through it. Yes. Okay, good for you. Now I want to brag on her because not only did she say yes, and sometimes it's hard to ask for help, or when you're at a rock bottom, you're like, Do I have the energy? Am I gonna add one more thing to my plate? I'm already feeling overwhelmed, you know. Did you have any of those insecurities coming in?
SPEAKER_01All of them. Okay, all of them. I was completely overwhelmed.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, but you showed up, you showed up every week. Um, and that's one thing I was definitely committed to. I was like, no matter what, I'm committing to the 12 weeks. Yeah. And that was a promise I made to myself.
SPEAKER_00Good for you. And you, you mean you did. You showed up, you did the work, you did the exercises, you were committed to this. And I think that shows a testament to um how much like how badly you were ready for change, and then but how committed you were to yourself. Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_01And the first week, the first week, the discussion was all about find finding that hope. And once I found that little bit of hope, I was like, okay, I'm on the right path week after week.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It's like that mountain got smaller and smaller. Yes. And you felt like, oh, I can do this.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so 90-day U-turn has a couple tenants. I would say we have it. There's a training each week where you get to hear me chit-chat and hopefully speak life into your world for 45 minutes to an hour. Um, and then you work on the exercises and you do them personally, because I often say if you could just listen to YouTube videos, we'd already be there, right? So you're listening to the training, you're writing down your exercises and your personal answers to process through it yourself with your own life. But then we meet on a weekly basis to talk through the exercises and to hear from the community, which does a few things. It holds you accountable to doing it, it kind of gives you a deadline. Uh, I used to sell a similar course to this with no community, and I would be like, Are you guys doing it?
unknownCome on.
SPEAKER_00So I'm like, we need to add a community component to give people a deadline and accountability and a place to talk through it and hear feedback, uh, hear from others, etc. So, out of all three of those, did you have a favorite piece of the puzzle?
SPEAKER_01Um, there were so many. There was there was so many, but um I think it was the solving a problem. The solving a problem, two of them solving the problem and the anger and the resentment. There was so much unforgiveness with that with that um exercise we went through. And then the meditation with it was the the trash, like the dumping, the junkyard, yeah. The junkyard, yes. So that really hit home with me. Um, but the solving a problem was accept it, change it, or stay miserable. And I was just staying miserable, stuck because it was so big to it, it was so big to climb. Too many changes all at once. I didn't know which direction to take first.
SPEAKER_00So the training pieces, that's where the staying stuck content was or the solving a problem, right? Three ways to solve a problem. You stay stuck, you accept, or you accept it, you change it, you stay miserable, which is the staying stuck. So you accept it, change it, stay miserable. Um, all of that was in the training pieces that you listened to, but then you also had a chance to do the exercises, and it sounds like you felt freedom with the resentment and anger exercises.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01And only of others but myself.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. Now you said that prior to this, you had a lot of kind of drama in your life, relationship drama, people needing you or you know, asking for help all the time. How did you create bound brown? Like, what did you learn about the boundaries piece during the 12 weeks and how did that shift?
SPEAKER_01I learned that self-care is the most important thing. Health is the foundation. And I learned that it's okay to not, it's okay to set the boundaries to serve yourself, most importantly, first. So with the boundary setting, I was able to say no to a lot of family members and not overgive, not people please, to get in touch with myself and ask myself, how do I actually feel about this? And do I even want to do this for somebody else? Um, so that was it was really helpful. The setting boundaries were so helpful.
SPEAKER_00I find that, you know, if we we often, you know, part of the tenants of the program is taking responsibility, right? We take a hundred percent responsibility for our own life, but then we have to let people take responsibility of their lives too, which can give us the freedom of trying to, you know, be the savior of the world. Yes, trying to help everybody and trying to go save people from their own messes and all the things that we do.
SPEAKER_01That's another thing it did. It helped me take all my power back.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Because I was giving it away to way too many people.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00How did you enjoy, or what did you enjoy most about our community meetings where we would talk through all of your answers and you'd be great to know with people?
SPEAKER_01It was so non-judgmental, it was such an open, safe space, and we were really all just there to love on each other. So it was great just talking to everybody, hearing that you're not alone with all these experiences, and I believe that everything is a divine appointment. So whoever was there was meant to be there, and that's what was so great about all of us just sharing our experience and just supporting one another.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was really special. And I I I love even after the first week, people are like, Oh my gosh, I'm not alone. Oh my gosh, I'm not, you know, like it's okay. And I think, and we learn throughout the process, everybody's got stuff. So even the people that come in polished, and you know, you think, oh, nothing's wrong with them, or not of course nothing's wrong with them, but like you think, oh, they've got the perfect life. Everybody's got stuff, and it comes and and and they've worked through things, whether it's current or in the past. And so we all just learn from each other. And I really think it creates this place where we're like locking arms and doing life together.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00Anything else about 90-day utrin itself, the experience, the daily challenges, like the healthy habits, the hypnosis, or anything else that you thought was helpful?
SPEAKER_01I thought all of it was helpful. I thought all of it was helpful, especially getting my health back in. There were so many areas that I changed during this program because when I first started, it was going from my health to a job, you know, um, to bring in, I need to need a job for myself. So I was going back and forth and I was like, okay, well, I can't move forward and take any action and have any motivation if I don't feel good. So it was just creating the momentum week after week, knowing, okay, let's focus on the health, clean up the diet, you know, drink more water, exercise. So just those basic um needs help me feel better and feel motivated. So then I was able to take the next step. Okay, let's apply for jobs, then take the next step. And it was just step after step going through each week that helped me just change all the areas in my life.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, then it must have to go from a 36 to a 71. Like everything got bumped up. Yes. Yeah. But you're right. I mean, you had been spinning your wheels for years, uh, feeling overwhelmed and not really taking action, kind of trying to take action, but then sneaking, you know, shrinking back to you said, like just taking a nap on the couch, because that feels safe and easy when we feel overwhelmed. Um, but with the guidance and the support of the group, you got your health back. You started taking healthy, you know, healthy habits, putting adding in those healthy habits again. You started applying for jobs, you've got one like that you're working on and doing all the paperwork and all of that now. What else shifted and changed during the three months that you'd want to share?
SPEAKER_01What else shifted? It was definitely my behaviors. Some of my behaviors with the uh the bad habits, like I said. So my health shifted, the job shifted, the finances shifted. Oh, yeah because I was yes, the finances they shifted. I was in, I was in debt and I was working with a negotiator. And then um, I did wind up canceling that because it just didn't feel right in my heart, and I was like, let's do the right thing. So I did call the credit card companies and I said, let's make arrangements. So I made arrangements with them to pay a little bit amount of a month. And then one of the one of the cards actually gave me a settlement, which was a fantastic deal. Okay. Um yeah, so many thousands of dollars less than what the credit card was. So then I just felt I just felt freer. I felt freer and like, okay, let's do the right thing. You know, the job, the finances, all of it's just I'm finding more ease, definitely more ease and flow in my life.
SPEAKER_00Everything's kind of starting to line up.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00But it's because you felt good enough to take action, you know. Um, I only know a few people who are able to like meditate their lives into success. Yes. Most of us, while we will meditate and stay in the you know, joyful state and you know, do these healthy habits, we do need to take new action. We do need to call, we do need to apply, we do need to try, you know what I mean, and like do new things. But when you did it this time, because you were in more of that flow state, that next step started to show for you. Yes. That's amazing. So tell us a bit about what life looks now uh since you've finished the program.
SPEAKER_01Life definitely feels freer, it feels less anxious, it definitely feels less overwhelming because now I'm setting things, you know, on the calendar, what needs to be there, the priorities. And um this job, I have one more thing to do with this job, and then I start the 24th of this month. So August 24th is my first a week, a week today. And uh I know that things are just gonna shift. Also, besides the job, I wound up calling a local studio that I know so I could do a group in there because I do energy work as well. So I wound up putting on the calendar a group that I'm doing the end of the month. And so I'm just gonna do those groups just to express myself with the energy work. And I'm gonna do crystal, I do crystal bowls too.
SPEAKER_00Okay, okay. Well, I love that. I think I mean that's the thing is you're putting things on the calendar. You that you're you're number one, you're setting your priorities. Step one, clarity. What are my priorities? And then you're putting your time where your priorities are, you're setting your calendar up. Um, but then you're also, you know, asking, hey, can I come into your, you know, the yoga studio or the art studio or whatever it is and and hold this class? And they're like, totally, Lisa, absolutely. And and I think that it just goes to show that when you are in that alignment um and you're taking this action, that next step comes. And I'm really proud of you for saying yes to yourself and participating as well as you did. Thank you. I'm proud of me too.
SPEAKER_01What does that mean? And I also love the way you say calendar. Yes. I just love the accent calendar. I love it.
SPEAKER_00Oh, Michiganders do not have accent. That's funny. We all think we talk the right way, right? Um, what does 71 feel like? 71 feels much better than a 36. Yeah, yes. I'm imagining the 36 is like blankets over your head on the couch, you know. Yes, yeah. All right, tell me what 71 feels like.
SPEAKER_0171 feels free. It feels good. I just, you know, feel so much. I feel motivated now.
unknownYes.
SPEAKER_01I have I have much more motivation, much more clarity. It's like I have that determination that I never had before. Like, no matter what, I get to choose again. I get to choose a step. I have the clarity, like I can go back, you know, do I can review some material so I can get me to where I need to be. And then in the future, I probably will take the 90-day U-turn again because it really does get me, it really does help move you forward.
SPEAKER_00I've heard, I mean, people do take it more than once because they're like, number one, it's a fire hose. And number two, I really want to integrate it. And then number three, every few years we're going through these pivots. Every few years we're asking ourselves, all right, what's next? You know, and so absolutely, you're always welcome back to go through the content um with the community. You have access to it, but it should, you know, you can come back and join the community at any time. Um, what was I gonna ask about that? Clarity, motivation, community. Oh, the thing I was gonna say is that you it's not like it's a three-month program and then you forget everything you learned, right? Like you now have tools in your toolbox. You now have exercises you can do. I've had people message me a year after the program and be like, my mother-in-law like triggered me again, but I used the skills and I'm so proud of myself. And you know, you have skills in in in your toolbox that you can use for emotion regulation to keep yourself in your own game, to release the resentments and the frustrations and the guilts of life, um, that process grief in a healthy way. Like all of these exercises are things that you now have as tools, right? Yeah. Um, so we really did go like a 1% shift, which is taking you in a new direction. And so now when life happens, because I'm sure it will, you have a new set of tools that you can fall back on.
SPEAKER_01I do.
SPEAKER_00How does that feel?
SPEAKER_01That feels amazing.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it feels like empowering, I feel like.
SPEAKER_01It does.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, awesome. Anything else you want to add about your experience?
SPEAKER_01I think it was a fan, I think it was an amazing experience, Denise. I can't say enough about it. It really was, it was enjoyable. Every week I loved everybody that was in the group with me, and I can't thank you enough for helping me. Because just not only your energy being so beautiful and um, you know, inspiring and lifting, uh, uplifting, you being so empowered helped me helped empower myself, knowing that I can do it, I can do hard things, and I can take one step at a time. And I don't have to make it so hard because it does did seem overwhelming rather than me breaking it down. So you really helped me narrow things down, take the small steps I needed one one week at a time, just focus on this, and you know, that's what helped with the momentum, keeping me moving forward. So I honor you and um truly grateful to you. Well, big hugs, thank you.
SPEAKER_00This is why I love to plan retreats because I'm like, we need to hang out in birth. Yes. Um, what would you say to somebody who's where you were when you were feeling a 36? You know, they're stuck. I would say, do it.
SPEAKER_01Do it, just sign up, just sign up and it'll train change your life.
SPEAKER_00Because literally three months, you were in a different spot. Yes, I was.
unknownOh my gosh.
SPEAKER_00I love it. And and I I mean that's because you did the hard work, you showed up for yourself. So give yourself a pat on the back as well. I created the path, but you followed it. Um which which gives, you know, which again is empowering to you. Like you can do it. You can show up for 12 weeks, you can do the work, you can't, and when you do, it works. Thank you. Good. What if somebody's scared that they won't follow through or they're wondering if it will work for them?
SPEAKER_01They have to take it, they have to try it. They have to try it and see the transformation for themselves. You have to go through the experience.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00And like you said, commit to 12 weeks, put it on your calendar, it's the same Zoom link every week, you know. And um and the worst thing that can happen is you have a whole bunch of tools in your toolbox for later, you know. Yes, yes. I'm like, I don't even know if there's a worse thing that could happen. The worst thing that can happen is you know everything already. No, everything is that even possible. I don't know. Because even if you like have learned these, you know, thought traps before, or the life purpose exercises, or if you've done the clarity work, even though we know it, we're not applying it. And we often need community and accountability to apply it. So even if you think, well, I know all this stuff, it's still so helpful to go through it in a community.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Yes, because I did know it all. Yeah. I thought I did, I thought I had all the knowledge, but I was still stuck. Yeah. I was still stuck. Yeah. So once I uh yeah, worked the program, realizing the thought traps that I did indeed have, um, that's what helped me move forward. Yeah, absolutely.
SPEAKER_00All right. Well, congratulations. If 71 feels good, you're motivated, you've got focus, you have um a clear calendar, you know what you're doing, why you're doing it, you're excited about it, you've got a job, your finances are more stable, your health is in order. Lisa, big congratulations to you. Thank you for saying yes, and thank you for sharing your story on this podcast. Now, you guys, Lisa does do energy work, she does have some of her own business. So I'll put the link to her Facebook in the show notes below uh so you can go check her out. And if when she is opening the doors to her own programs, you are welcome to join. Thank you. Have an awesome, awesome week, you guys. We'll see you same time, same place next time.
unknownBye.
