Winny Obure is a feminist activist who works with adolescent girls and young women on sexual reproductive health and gender-based violence in informal settlements and marginalized rural areas in Kenya. Winny is the mother of a son, an avid biker, and she loves hiking.

In this episode, Winny discusses Teen Seed, a community-based program she founded at 16, after being defiled by an older man who believed it was his right because he was paying part of her school fees… education as a right for all girls… teen pregnancy… teen girls’ need for nurturing, guidance, and support… the shame and blame experienced by survivors of sexual violence… the patriarchy… choosing to be part of the solution instead of part of the problem… the normalization of abuse… building courage and choosing to move on with your life… defending the rights of women and girls… the power of women… and the importance of finding spaces for healing, movement-building, supporting each other across the globe, and turning pain into power.
