Episode 66
Today we have Dr. Arthur Caplan, director of NYU Langone's Division of Medical Ethics, in the metaphorical house. He’s arguably the top bioethicist around.
Dr. Caplan is the author or editor of thirty-five books and over 725 papers in peer reviewed journals, and he’s everywhere these days, for an obvious reason: with Jeremy's hometown of New York serving as the global headquarters for COVID-19 as he interviewed Dr. Caplan, there are a lot of questions around rationing medical services.
On this episode, we discuss:
- How should hospitals make critical decisions regarding rationing medical services?
- Should the life of a healthcare worker be valued more than that of someone else?
- Is it ethical to order food delivery amidst our current crisis?
- How do we balance the economy against saving lives, in the short-term?
- Is it ethical to have sex during a pandemic?
As always, we welcome your feedback. Please make sure to subscribe, rate, and review on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and Google Play.
