Do you know that there is something magical inside of you, but you don't know how to uncover it. The Heartsing podcast is dedicated to just that helping you put yourself first and figure out what lights you up. I'm your host, Addie B AKA Slayer of Namaslayer. And through my journey of losing nearly a hundred pounds, uncovering the magic of my soul and building the life of my dreams.

I'm leaving no stone unturned in the process of self discovery, and I'm here to share it all with you. So let's get started. Hello, my heart singers, Addie B here also known as Slayer come and at you with a hot little nugget for your abundant weight loss quest or your health journey, whatever label you wanna put on it. Last week,

I got inspired to share some of these nuggets. I've picked up along the way. And I've talked about this one before about the power of Iveta and understanding your dosha type, but I haven't really dove into it on an episode. Today's going to be just kind of a 1 0 1 on Iveta doshas in balancing them also a bit about the Vata season, which is coming up as there's three doshas in each season season has a dosha as well.

So I'm gonna dive into that. I think you're gonna find this episode really interesting. I did on my quest, I found Iveta back when I was in the Chopra center, going to school for my meditation instruction. And around that time, I had also gotten into biohacking a little bit, you know, experimenting with my body and understanding the science of my body.

And it was so interesting for me to see how the two go hand in hand how this Iveta, which is this knowledge or science of life that dates back 5,000 years ago to Theves to these old monks sitting back thinking, how can we better enhance our bodies? They looked at their bodies like temples and knew that the healthier they got their bodies, the closer to their enlightenment,

they would reach. So they were constantly biohacking it, if you will, for lack of a better term to get to their healthiest self. And they left us this holistic system that had been in place forever, and it was the primary medical or healthcare system in India until Western medicine came in and outlawed it and abolished it. And it's just making a comeback today.

It's really interesting when you get in the history about it, but it's one of the oldest holistic symptoms to heal the body, mind, and soul. And why not on your abundant weight loss quest, add another little tool in your arsenal. And that's how I look at using my doshas and understanding when I'm in and when I'm out of balance and going to some of these tools we can find,

and I'm gonna give you a couple great resources at the end to be able to go find this quickly and do a fun little quiz to see what your primary dosha is, what dosha you were born with and what might be out of balance for you right now and how we can stay in balance for the season. So a lot coming up on this episode today,

and I just know there's gonna be a good nugget in here for you, a, a little something that gets you thinking. Huh? What about that? What if I try that? Ooh, I also wanna talk about the six taste of Iveta. You might have heard me talk about making sure I have all the colors and the flavors on my plate.

So I'm gonna talk about that briefly today, too. So we're gonna start off with understanding the DOHAS and the different elements of the universe that go into creating these doses and these forces of energetic forces of nature that we are, and that every living thing is. So we're gonna ultimately dive into understanding what Vada PDA and KAA Doss are and why these are the foundational concepts in the tradition of Iveta and how they can help guide you on your health and wellness quest.

I mean, isn't that fun, just kind of a different way to look at things. So each of us is to have a primary dosha that we are born with. And then we have doshas we develop throughout the life, but we are all, all three doshas and each dosha contains these five elements of five elements of the universe, water, fire,

space, earth, and air. And these elements, obviously the base of everything in existence, also our bodies without these elements life isn't possible. So I'm gonna talk about these elements so we can better understand how they're working throughout your body. And this is really fascinating to me. I think it might be for you Doche itself means that which changes because they are constantly moving in,

in dynamic balance with one another. So it's really easy for me to have my pit of flaring one day and my cough would be out and balance the next day. My cough is really outta balance right now, but I'll tell you a little bit about that at the end. I did my updated quiz that I'll share with you guys too. So the first element I wanna talk about is water and water is known because of change,

right? And of course it's liquid. We see water moving through all of its cycles, evaporation, clouds, condensation, rain. We see it moving around rocks and mountains, rivers carrying all the dissolved soil and nutrients down the path, carrying economic trade and exchange of information and culture, right? We see the Earth's bodies of water, nurture life everywhere,

and think how similar to the blood in your body is the flow of your blood, your blood, moving, all these fluids through the way are the fluids in your body clearing the way like rivers moving between your cells, through your vessels, bringing energy and carrying away, waste regulating temperature, bringing disease fighters. It carries hormonal information from one area to another.

Just amazing, right? So if you can think about that, like this, all these fluids in your body, like the water of the universe, it's the water within your body. And then we have fire, of course. And if you're my, my Pitta, my Pitta sisters out there, you you'll get this fire. This is considered form without substance.

So fire has the ability to transform solids, to liquid, to gas and back again, the heat of the sun think about it, melts ice into water that becomes a vapor. Fire runs the cycles of water, and it runs the cycle of weather. The sun's energy is the initiator of all energy cycles on the earth, including all the food chains,

all the food webs and within our bodies. It's this fire energy that keeps the atoms of all molecules together. It changes food to fat, to stored energy and muscle. That turns food into work. It creates impulses of nervous reactions of our feelings. And even our thought processes, right, are fueled by this fire energy. So ether in space is the next element to talk about and think about space being that distance between things.

It helps us differentiate one thing from another like outer space with millions of miles between stars or celestial bodies, the inner space of our body, where very atoms are minutely measured in distance, right? It's the space in which everything happens. The space may be as thin or as thick as an idea, but how do you even measure an idea? Space itself can be a little mindboggling right?

So kind of hang onto that idea as we get to the Doha, because if you have a Doha that has ether space, that might make a lot of sense to you, right? So what about the earth? The earth represents this solid material. It manifest stability. Fixidity rigidity. We see all around us, right? The rocks, my mountain,

the soil it's wearing the forces of water and wind, right? It withstands them. It's it's, it's taking them. Our body also manifests this earth, solid state structure, the bones, the cells, the tissues. These are the physical structures through which your blood courses and oxygen is transported. Air is moved, right? And that, that brings us to the last element being air.

And this is existence without form, right? The life force energy air, it airs the gas form of matter. It's mobile and dynamic. We don't see the air that blows through the tree leaves, but we feel it. We see how it can respond to energy, absorb it, give it off. When we experience or watch a hurricane or a storm,

we can see it, right. We can know it's there. We feel the airs that co down our throats into our lungs. And we cut that feeling off for more than a few minutes. We know with our whole being how fundamental air is to life and without the body air oxygen is the basis for all energy transfer reactions, all oxidation in the body.

So clean and pure, it's the key element required for fire to burn. So you can see how these elements are in everything and they're woven throughout your body. So just like they exist everywhere they are within you. And because they are constantly changing. Remember they're dynamic. It's important for us to understand this and we can start to learn how to balance through these elements in our body.

I know, are you still with me? You guys. Okay. Deep breath, everybody I'm done with the science of the planet. Okay. But I think it's fascinating. It's so fascinating. If you really think about that, you guys, about the fire in your body, right? The water being the blood and being all the fluids that carry things throughout the fire,

igniting the passion within you and igniting your metabolism to process and be functional with things that ether in this space. This is where we create. This is where we are defining what happens in this immense space of field of infinite possibilities, right? And then earth that which keeps us solid, which keeps us grounded, which keeps us rooted to do what we're here to do.

And then air giving us the life force energy to perform at all. So you can see how we need all of these. And we have all three, but we are predominant, predominantly leaning toward one or the other just naturally from your birth. And so the VA dosha, see which one you identify here. Remember we have VA Pitta and coffin. See which one you think you are.

And then I'm gonna encourage you to go take the quiz and take me on social, add Addie, be I'd love to see and hear what dosha type you are and what you came up with and how you connected with it. So the VA energy, this is the light and airy dosha, and it's a force that's made up of the ether and the air,

both of 'em, right? So very light and airy. And in the body, VA is all movement. And it manifests itself in living things as nerve impulses, air, blood, food, waste, material, and thoughts. And the characteristics of Vada are cold light, irregular, mobile rarefied, and rough, too much. VA can cause nerve irritation,

high blood pressure, gas and confusion, and too little Vata can mean nerve loss, congestion, constipation, and thoughtlessness, but Vata embodies the energy of movement. And so it's associated with this wind, right? And it's linked to creativity and flexibility. It governs all movement, the flow of breath, the pulsation of your heart, all the muscle contractions tissue movements and the communication throughout your mind and your nervous system.

Then we have the PDA, Doha, yours truly here. I'm actually PETA and Vata and a little bit of cough, but my CFA's auto balance right now, spoiler alert. So my PETA or PDA dosha, this is the interplay between the water and the fire elements. So PDA is manifested by the quality of your trans of transformation. It's the enzymes,

which digest our food and the hormones, which regulator metabolism in our mind, PETA force is the transformation of chemicals impulses into understand, stood thoughts. So it's the vehicle to get to the, to the processing and PDA characteristics are hot, light, fluid, subtle, sharp, soft, and clear. Each of which affect the body and too much PDA can cause ulcers,

hormone, imbalance, irritated skin, and consuming emotions like anger too little PDA can result in indigestion, inability to understand in a sluggish metabolism. So if you're feeling that way, like your metabolism, isn't revving and you can't get going like rev up your PDA a little bit can be a great way to go. In summary on PDA, it's closely related to intelligence,

understanding digestion of foods, thoughts, emotions, and experiences. It governs nutrition and metabolism, body temperature, and the light of understanding. And now we have the CFAs last, but definitely not least. I think we have a high predominance of CFAs. I think we, when we are on a weight loss quest, the CFA will be what we notice is outta balance.

First and foremost, cuz there tends to be a heaviness with KAA that comes from that earth element, right? So understanding how to balance this can be key in your quest for a healthier life. Kafa is water and earth and it provides the structure and lubrication as it draws on these characteristics of the universe. So at one level it's the cells that make up our organs and the fluids,

which nourish and protect 'em and C is oily, cold, heavy, stable, dense, and smooth, and too much cough in your body. Manifests as mucus build up in the sinus lungs. And it can even build up in the colon in the mind, it creates rigidity, a fixation of thoughts and inflexibility. So if you're, if you're resistant to change,

it could just be balancing. Your cough might open you up a little bit. Low cough causes the body to experience a dry respiratory tract burning stomach and inability to concentrate. So to recap, C lends structures, solidity and cohesiveness to all things. And it's associated primarily with the earth and the water. Kafa also embodies the watery energies of love and compassion and this dosha hydrates all the cells and systems,

it lubricates the joints, moisturizes the skin. Boy, do I need that? Maintains immunity and protects the is tissue. So now that we have this general understanding, I just wanna be clear. It's that's a really brief understanding and you can dive into so much more about your individual Doha. I'm not even gonna get into really types of food and things like that today because well,

I do like to keep the podcast shortened, halfway listenable, you know, not too long, but I wanna encourage you to go out and look. And so I wanna talk about some of these imbalances more and how they will manifest themselves in your life. So you might think, oh that, yeah, I see that in myself. I see that out of balance.

Maybe I'll go and figure out how to get that imbalance. So when your VA is out of balance, you'll tend to see more fear, anxiety, isolation, loneliness, exhaustion in your life. And it can lead to both physical and energetic depletion and disrupt proper communication and cause all kinds of abnormal movements in your body, ticks tremors, muscle spasms, things like that.

You might notice if your VAs feeling outta whack and balance PTA causes fiery reaction, emotions, frustration, anger, jealousy criticism. It's often at the root of inflammatory disorders, which can affect organs and tissues throughout the body. And then an imbalanced cough. It triggers attachment greed, possessiveness, and it can also create stubbornness, lethargy and resistance to change. Physically KAA tends to invite stagnation and congestion in the organs and tissues throughout your body,

including your mind. So if you are kind of sitting there, yeah. You know what? I think I'm seeing that in my life hardly recommend going and doing this quiz. So you guys can go to Banon botanicals. It's probably, this is my favorite site to do the quiz on because what they do is the first part of the quiz dials into your foundational doses.

So those doses you were probably most likely born with or are predominantly disposed to. And then the second part of the quiz is where you're at right now in your life in your moment. And so I'm just gonna run you through mine really quick. Cuz that was kind of cool to see. And then I wanna tell you about the six tastes of Iveta.

So my primary doses, my constitution types PVA. So I'm predominantly, I'm half PTA in almost the Reva little wedge of CFA. So what it says here, it means I'm generally intelligent. Stop your clan out there. Ambitious creative, full of new ideas. That's all true. I also love to learn, have a fiery passion for things that most interest me and are both keenly,

insightful and highly capable of holding onto a big vision. Why thank you true. Your light quick body. I don't, I don't know how light my body feels and that comes down to, you know, it says some things in here about, I have a propensity for overexertion and the grounding stabilized influence in my, in my life would benefit me greatly.

And that is definitely the biggest lesson I got out of. My doshas was learning how much I need to ground and incorporating these practices into my life to keep me really rooted because of that pitif fire that Vada air ether, the big ideas, the creativity, the constant generation, and then the Pitta gets fired up. Oh boy. Right. So learning to just get down on,

I call it my magic carpet in the rig here in child's post. You know, I went outside earlier today when I was feeling a little agitated instead of going to the fridge I went and I laid in the sun, it was like hot and warm out there. It just felt good to lay in the earth and ground. And I know when I'm getting called to do things like that,

my coughs out of balance and I knew it was going to be. And so I took the quiz and sure enough it says cough and balance order mind is feeling sluggish, lack of clarity, sleep or difficulty waking up. I've been sleeping like crazy carrying extra body weight right now, water retention, sticky, slow, incomplete bowel move. And so I didn't know,

I was gonna read that. You're welcome. You guys, you always know what you're gonna get here. Right? All of those things I'm really feeling so looking at ways we can balance these things and how can we put get into balance? Okay. So let's talk about how to balance the C first. And I deal with this a lot with a lot of my clients of like,

oh, I could tell your coughs outta balance. And it can be as simple as to shake that heaviness, getting your movement in and this being just prioritizing a little bit of exercise in your life, let it be both fun and challenging for you. 1530 minutes can be a game changer when your CFA's high and imbalance. And it can really clear that heaviness.

It can clear the mind and reinvigorate you. So exercise for CFAs, embracing, being spontaneous, right? To follow your inner intuition, your inspiration and break up your regular routine. Make time for fun adventure. Schedule an everyday adventure for yourself. Call a friend you haven't talked to in forever and ask her out for coffee, do something different that you haven't done before.

And that can really shake your coffee up to following daily routines for CFAs that is satisfying, waking up early, performing nasal wrenches, giving yourself a dry powder massage at least once a week. And there's also yoga moves that are CFA friendly and specific foods. So just really briefly on the foods. So favor these flavors, pungent think spicy foods like chilis radishes,

raw garlic, raw onion, better foods like kale. Don't tell Dave Asbury, right? Dandelion collards, spices like human and TOK as stringent beans, vegetables, apples, cranberries, green bananas and pomegranates. I always say that wrong pomegranates. Don't turn me off. Don't turn me off. And you wanna reduce some of these aggravating taste like too much sugary sweets,

but also greens fruit, squashes root vegetables and dairy products can be KA aggravating, sour, vinegar, pineapples, grapefruits, alcohol, and salty think salt genius. Right? So all of these things together can really work to helping balance out that CFA energy. So let's look at PTA and then I wanna end on Vata because we are coming up to Vata season,

which is what fall is because each season has aha too. So we are coming into this dry airy season. So we're gonna end with Vada today. So let's take a look at balancing your PDA Doha. So my fellow PDA sisters out there, when you feel that fire burning, or if you're seeing yourself prone to some anger quickly or reaction, you just feel hot and heated.

You can also balance your PDA through lifestyle changes. So slowing down more, allowing yourself to make mistakes and enjoy yourself. You remember what that's like and fighting this energy into your aspect of your life that needs it. And this is like speaking to me right now, right? Work, exercise relationships. When I get in corporate Addie mode sometimes, and I'm creating and I love what I'm creating and putting forth into the world right now.

But I can also get that really fire pit energy going while I'm creating. And so doing things like making sure I play while I work, like I've been going to the pool and taking my book to learn while I'm working type thing, creating consistency, going to bed before 10 I've actually have been doing that, which is probably why my coughs outta balance a little more than my PIDA right now,

practicing prone, Yama you guys. So breathwork, this can have a very calming effect on the entire system. There's also prone Yama that can help with your C doing like the breath of fire can help balance your C really get your energy going. So, but like simple yogic breathing. This was so key for me doing a lot of like the alternate nostril breathing the taco tongue breath.

I've done that one here on the podcast. I love to do this on the podcast, cuz I picture you guys all out there. Rolling your tongues while you're listening to me, do it right now for me please. It's a very cooling energy. So you roll your tongue like a taco and you inhale through and exhale and you can even feel the air is cooler.

So this is very cooling to the pit AOCs, which are full of fire, right? So diet recommendations, savoring these taste sweets. So greens, fruit, squashes, dairy products, things like that. Bitter again, the kale dandelions collars, CU Ric and as stringent legumes, vegetables, apples, cranberries, green bananas, and reduce what aggravates it,

which is the Kafa ones that are good for KAA aggravate. PIDA right. So the chilies radishes, garlic, onion, sour, vinegar, pineapples, grapefruits, and salty taste. So reducing those. The other thing I think I do with my PTA to balance my PTA is doing like an oil massage, like with coconut oil, like doing my skin is so dry that like,

it just soaks the oils right up. But that is a really nice Iveta routine thing to put into your nightly routine or your morning, wherever you fit, something like that in. Okay. So let's talk about Vata because we are coming up Tova season. So remember that Vada tends to be flighty and ungrounded and can often have an habit of overexerting ourselves.

Right? So adapting our lifestyle to balance these things can really be transformative. And I, I have a big part of me that's Vada. And remember we all have all three, but you're gonna find a couple that you lean heavier toward. So you're gonna want VAs out there. You're gonna wanna find experiences that are mentally and physically grounding, nourishing sweet and stabilizing.

So things like getting up and going to bed and eating your meals at the same time for VAs are really important. A lot of VAs will skip meals and not even realize they didn't eat. I've never, ever in my life had that problem. If I missed a meal, I've known I missed a meal, but if you're one of those people, oh my gosh,

I didn't even eat. You might be Ava. Oh, I should do one of those redneck things. But with VAs and PIs, that'd be funny. Okay. So as much as you might resist routine VAs out there, your nerves, your nervous system is going to love you for this. If you do it. So embracing deep self care, getting enough rest,

taking quiet time for yourself each morning, giving yourself an oil massage. Here's the oil massage. And then of course, P Yama again and full YOIC breath. The alternate nostril breathing really calming helpful for AVAs. So you can see where we're coming up on Ava season, where we've got all this air in ether. And if you're also PTA like me,

that I find the combination previously has almost been, not paralyzing for me, but I feel like I kind of shut down. And so I've really looked at this closer in the past couple of years and how can I manage these energies that are running and cosing through my body while I'm wanting to do all the things I wanted to and live my healthiest life.

Like how can I better understand my body and myself to manage these things? So with Vata and think we're coming into Vata season, right? So cooked whole foods that are softer mushy and texture, rich and protein and fat warming spices, and food served like warm or hot. And they're gonna really help lubricate us. Remember we need the water right now,

nourish these tissues, give us this moisture, maintain the warmth while it's helping us with our digestion and elimination, right? Moving that water and the flow through the body. So if you are one of those people, those VAs that forgets to eat, make sure you're balancing. Try to create that sense of routine around your meals. So with vodka pacifying taste,

so we're looking for sweets again, the squashes, the root vegetables, the fruits, grains sour, things like pickles, lemon juice, pineapples, grapefruits, and salty, right? Pleasant, savory flavors. And what aggravates the vodka are, the chilies, the spices, the garlic, the onion and the things that really like spice you up. And then the bitter greens,

right? That's gonna aggravate the vodka and as stringent. So the raw vegetables, the green bananas, the beans, those types of tastes are gonna aggravate the VA. Now remember our goal is to have all these VAs imbalance. So it doesn't mean that we don't want any of that. Ultimately we'd love to be totally balanced, right? So that like we are just maintaining in that balance.

But it's a really good tool to have. If you notice, Hey, I'm feeling some anxiety or I'm feeling anger or I'm feeling whatever this is, to look at your dosha type and see what things you can do within your life to balance it, really knowing and understanding that sometimes at your body, you need to slow down and listen to and allow to speak to yourself.

And that is what Iveta has done for me. And I hope will help you guys too. Okay. So let's wrap it up, talking about this six taste and why every meal should have all six. And I'm telling you, when I do this, I feel satisfied on a level that I didn't understand before. And this was probably one of the biggest nuggets I'm gonna give you in this podcast.

So pay attention. So the reason being too, so Iveta says that it's important to activate all of the organs in our body equally from, to function properly, which makes sense. We just learned all of this, about how the water and the earth and everything's flowing through our body and everything is like our magnificent machine of our body. Right? And so a way to stimulate these internal organs is by activating the taste bud for each organ.

So in your pallet, on your taste buds, they can directly relate these different flavors to different organs in your body. And so it also lets, you know, when you hit that flavor, Hey, I got that. We're good. I got that. We're good. I got that. We're good. Your body knows it's gonna have what it needs to be nourished and sustained.

So these different six flavors you wanna hit are the sour pungent as stringent, bitter, salty and sweet. And we've gone over a few different types of those foods already, but it will actually activate your bodily organs when you do this. And it's a way to restore balance to your doshas. When you implement this into your routine. I think the easiest way I heard this,

I don't know where I heard Deepak Chopra say this, but he said it somewhere. I swear that he just worries about getting all six colors on his plate, like all different colors. And then you're sure to hit each of those different taste buds and because each different group of food and group of color hits those six different taste bud types that we wanna hit.

We could get into the discussion on this for quite a while, but just know that when we taste our food, it, it instigates your digestion, your what they call your Agni, this fire within you, right? And so it begins to start the brain going, Hey, we're gonna get going processing this food. And your taste actually stimulates that.

So as you're stimulating all these different organs by hitting all these different taste buds, you're actually creating yourself a digestive machine. And I can, I can't, I can't explain it, but when I do this and I, I do my big trash can salad and I make sure I have all the colors in there. I'm so much more satisfied than if it's like all green or all yellow or something like that.

So really take a look at that and you can go to this, go to this Banon botanicals. I don't have any affiliation. Nobody's paying me anything for this. I just happen to like their quiz the best, and you can get your Iveta profile and you can get lists of foods. You can dive into it a little bit deeper. I think it's something really cool to understand.

It's a really good little nugget to have in your brain. And even to know, Hey, you know what, maybe I need to just go breathe. Maybe that yoga pose would help today. Maybe just doing an oil massage or putting the oil pulling where you use oil as a mouthwash. I haven't even talked about that one yet. That's one of my favorite things to do so many different things that Iveta has gifted us through these years to help understand our bodies from a life science standpoint and Iveta views food as medicine.

So by taking your daily dose of this medicine, you're promoting the healing of your body and your mind and making sure that your plate is full of all those six tastes. Your body's gonna thank you. And so is your health journey. I hope that this was maybe not a little too much cramming information in your hands, but gave you some good nuggets to take with you for the week and that you wanna dive in more.

We are also having an exciting event coming up in a couple of weeks and I have convinced Mini Slayer, my oldest child to do a VA Friday night V I P edition cooking with Slayer and Mini Slayer as part of our event. So if you do come in October, make sure you do the V I P seating. So you can come cook with us and we'll discuss Vada.

And I Avedo a little bit more in how to prepare for the season and we're gonna do some food prepping just especially for Vada season and helping us through that weekend. But the event itself is going to be amazing and fun. It always is. This is our MEfirst guide experience and I've got special guests coming again. We've got Renee Spears talking about spirit guides,

Ginny vestals coming to do some tapping ounce is gonna be there with some prone Yama. I'm using a theme of the eight limbs of yoga. You are a Yogi now. And if you've been a long time podcast fan, you know that I have a podcast series based on the eight limbs of yoga on here. And I am just going to weave that in throughout.

We don't just show up and plan and get it all done, which we do do, but it's an experience. It is something you look forward to going through and it transforms your life in that weekend. Like you start to believe these amazing things are possible. And then you start to put 'em into action. And this is where it happens at this weekend.

And I'm gonna add a little bit of yin with me in a little bit of future self yoga, things like that. So anyhow, look for the links that should be out this weekend and over the next couple of weeks, if you're catching this on a replay at a future date, make sure to check out the website. All right. My loves until next week,

Slayer out.
