Episode 96: The Growing Popularity of Perverts
Things like drag queen story time, minor-attracted people, and public displays of sexual perversion are not only being accepted as “normal” by many people today, they’re being continually promoted by our culture. How did the abnormal and unacceptable become trendy? Todd and Stu address some of the alarming trends of today and show where they will lead us if we don’t change course.

Welcome to the Truth Wins podcast where the truth hurts sometimes, but it could save your life. Our heart on this podcast is for you to know why you believe what you believe and to be able to give a defense for it. This is episode 96 called the growing popularity of perverts. That should get a few people's attention, don't you think Stu?
Stu 0:28
Uuuuuh what?
Todd 0:32
At least we know. Yeah, anyways, I'll go over that. But welcome here this. As always, my good friend still here. Say hey, Stu. Hey, Stu. Looks like he just came in from hunting. It is October so
Stu 0:43
yes. Yeah. I wanted to be seen and not heard
Todd 0:47
of, well, no. We want to hear yet today. But yeah, he's got a bright orange golf Tee. He says it's not a golf. I don't play golf. He doesn't play golf. But it would work. If you ever want to come out and golf with me. Baseball players always struggle with golf, because they keep that baseball swing. And since you can't hit it straight. Yeah. It's usually a pretty good slice with baseball player and they lift that left foot up or knock it out of the park. Just doesn't work with golf. But anyways, we're not going to talk about golf. We're talking about perverts today. My name is Todd Sherman. I would like to think I'm not a pervert. But we want to talk about why there's such a growing popularity of what used to be called perverts. In fact, that's we'll probably get flagged with just that word, because it's just not a nice word in today's culture, but we want to we want to say okay, what's really going on here? Why is it gaining more and more popularity to be you know, outside of what our culture or society would have said was normal behavior is just being dismantled every every week, it seems like but before we do that, we're gonna do what we like to call here on The Truth Wins podcast time to stump stu. Alright, too. So this one is from archaeology, how archaeology supports the Bible. Jeff says that comic books use real places as backgrounds. Does that make them real?
Stu 2:12
All right, Jeff, besides your faulty logic in this question, let's look at some of the things that I think you ought to take a look at. You might want to
Todd 2:22
take a faulty logic, though, like what what did he
Stu 2:25
Know what he did was he said, just you know, he'd be because something true, uses a real background. Now he throws in something false, that uses a real background. That doesn't make it the same. Comic books and the Bible are not equal. So Gotcha. But basically, I would encourage Jeff to listen to episode 92 of our how archaeology does support the Bible, and listen to some of the things and actually look them up on the internet or go to the places we have. There are so many cool things that we found like the Pontius Pilate stone, in Surya where we were, there are so many other amazing things that could Taffy gnome in the Valley of Hinnom, they found the blessing from Numbers, chapter six, you know, The Lord bless you and keep you and make his face shine upon you in silver, from 700 BC. So they found all kinds of things and everything that archaeologists find seems to never contradict the Bible, but it always seems to support it. So therefore, men like William Ramsay and William Foxwell Albright, who became believers as a result of their archeological digs in the Middle East.
Todd 3:50
Good. And if our tech guys are video guys have on that episode, when uploaded, they have some video footage of some of the things that we mentioned in that too. So they show the pilate stone and Ciceri or the Hezekiah tunnel, things like that. So yeah, Jeff, just because there's similar in one's false and one's true doesn't mean that the other one has to be false to but if all that evidence didn't support the Bible, then you'd have an argument to say Well, the Bible is made up but it does so anyways, thanks for comment though. And that was our time to stump stu. Alright, so before we talk about perverts I want to talk about construction. Stu 5:35
Good number.
Todd 5:36
Hey, you're doing a big project. That's a lot of money. Alright, the growing popularity of perverts basically we want to tackle this because what used to be behind closed doors, what used to be, quote unquote, in the closet is now the closet doors are blown off. There's no no they knocked down the drywall. There's no way of putting closet back together and more stuff. And we're not just talking about homosexuality, but all these things you just keep getting introduced and being pushed down our culture's throat the majority, I would say, throat to say no, this is normal. When my generate what when I was growing up, homosexuality was starting to creep into some shows. And there was more laughter You know, it's kind of like, soften it with laughter. And then you know, things like that. But when you grew up, I imagine there was wasn't a lot of television shows that had homosexuality and
Stu 6:29
we only had puppet shows, things like that. When I grew up soupy sickles up
Todd 6:35
sales, Leave It to Beaver, they didn't tackle homosexuality Jonny Quest. Yeah. So the other are several other worldviews will say, Well, yeah, now we're more inclusive. Now we're, we're more broad minded. And so we're more accepting of that thing and seeing that, hey, it's just somebody's choice. Is that really true? Is that what's going on here?
Stu 6:57
Well, half half of what you see on the news or on TV, or things like that, you should always question at least half of it. But one of the things that happens is, I remember when I was a kid, there was a there was a house that was near this stream in Rhode Island. And they had this marker like a stake in the ground of the house. And the one of the beds of the stream, kind of curved around this little area. And as time went on, it was the longest I've ever lived in one place. So I got to actually see this a little bit. It was five years that we lived in Rhode Island never lived longer than that one place until adult life. But when you go out to the stream, we used to fill up our canteens with water to drink, of course directly from the stream, which our parents told us not to do. But we did it probably because they told us that and we're sinful humans. And what happened was, I noticed over the course of years, the stream bed just were closer and closer and closer to that stick. And what our country has done is instead of leaving the stick, we've decided to move the stick so that we can't see the erosion of cultural values and civic virtue, things like that, that are causing our country to decline. Yeah.
Todd 8:30
And again, some would say that's progress. We would disagree with that, because what we're seeing as a result of sexual immorality, outside of God's plan for sex, is that there's this perversion and what it used to be just a couple of things now, look on social media on TV, and they're celebrating all sorts of stuff that even five years ago, we would have said, Why is this on TV? You know, two guys holding hands and kissing intimately, or this new movie bros? Do you hear anything on that the bros movie? No. So it's a two gay guys in the one guy's like dancing around from the trailer. Trust me. I haven't seen it. But it flopped in the movie theaters. And the main guy is just going off on social media saying it's because we're all homophobic. I have no fear of homosexuals. I just don't believe it's God's best for a woman or a man to be with another woman or man. I think it's God's best for how he designed it. And I think they're being told a lie. And we've talked about that in other episodes as far as you know, how God kind of wired us all up.
Stu 9:33
And it's it's kind of interesting how people call they put phobic after anything that they like. And they say that you're afraid of it. That doesn't mean I'm afraid of it. It just I don't agree with it. It's not the right thing because God doesn't agree with it. Yeah, it's not the correct way to live your life. And I think we've seen some of the fallout from agreeing to these kinds of things. In our schools, like in middle school they have, kids are encouraged to question whether they're a boy or girl and then get surgery to adopt the new sex that they've chosen or whatever their gender in between thing as you can tell, in reality, there are only two genders. I mean, it's like you don't have some other gender. It's just the way God made us.
Unknown Speaker 10:30
And it's the sexual exploitation of little children that don't even think about that sort of thing until puberty hits. And yet, now they're having to think about it because it's being shoved down their throats with, you know, teachers and counselor community, and having drag queen hour at the local library. It's just insanity. And people are speaking up and saying, No, this isn't right. This isn't normal, this is perverted. But then they're being cast as again, they're transphobic and all the other folks, it's like, well, what's going on here? Well, it's a big enough issue, because if you look back on history, this whole sexual sin thing has been a pretty big deal in God's eyes. In fact, it's been the fall of many civilizations. And you even look back at the very beginning in the Bible, Genesis six, a big part of the flood of the whole earth, that worldwide flood was there was a perversion, it was like the sons of sons of gods. And so we think we talked about that a lot when we talked about the nephila man that so there's a lot more to it than just normal sexual perversion that we see. But it certainly was a big piece of it with the sexual perversion And God's like, No, I'm not going to put up with humanity. Because if they keep going down this path, they're not even going to exist past the next few generations.
Stu 11:48
It's it's an attempt, in a sense, I think, to destroy the humanity of the human race. It's an attempt by the demons and Satan to mix in with humans. And as a result, some really bad things transpired. When you have people who decide they want to sell their virtue for moments of pleasure with a demonic entity, I would guess that you're not going to be producing what was it Rosemary's Baby, that's a movie, not real, but you're gonna end up with some really bad things happening. You don't want to fall for the wiles of the evil one. So
Todd 12:39
yeah, it is it's taking. And that's what Satan's done from day one is he's taking something that God made that said, he said, was good. In that sexual union between a husband and a wife, a man and a woman who are committed to each other, it's the most intimate thing two people can do. It's emotional, physical, spiritual act that only a husband and wife should be doing. Because when you just do in sex, like a Tomcat, every weekend, you're missing out on an emotional and spiritual piece. So all the diseases in that that's a bad byproduct of it, and unwanted pregnancies. But it misses out on why God created sex. And in so many ways, we can do a whole episode on that, but it didn't, you would, you would hope that people learn like no one, the boys get off the boat, and they're like, we're not going to do that again. But you don't have to go very far down many chapters past that to Genesis 18 was Sodom and Gomorrah, and one of the big issues there was like a lot in his family. And then when the angels came, it's like, hey, we want to sleep with these guys that were Angel. Yeah, that
Stu 13:39
was males asking to sleep with males. I mean, that's where the word sodomy comes from. And it wasn't saying that a lot was an incredibly wonderful person, because he offers them his daughters. I mean, that's just sad. That's sick. That how bad this place was,
Todd 13:59
As a quick aside to a lot of people think that just because the Bible says somebody in it did something that the Bible is supporting that that's yeah, so whether David did something stupid, or he did or I mean, that's the great thing about the Bible is it shows the black marks of all these people, right? So the Bible isn't saying, you know, a lot was a good guy because he offered his daughters instead, he's ain't no, he should have just fought against all of it. But that's kind of that culture to where women didn't have the value, which is again, Arab nations today, that that they do today. And so that take my daughters
Stu 14:31
The point is that you're right that the Bible is one of those books that it's called the principle of embarrassment. It shows the flaws of the people that are writing it. The Bible isn't about them. The Bible is about the God who sacrificed himself to pay the price for all of our sins. Sexual perversions are only one kind of sin. All of us are Guilty of others, but it's a major sign of the decline of a culture.
Unknown Speaker 15:07
And that was the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. And if you go to Israel today at the Dead Sea, you go on the south end of the Dead Sea. That's the area where they believe and that's why the sea is dead. Because I believe before God did that it was vibrant. And is it Ezekiel that it says someday there'll be catching fish again, out of the Dead Sea, in the millennial kingdom, it's like God will restore it to fresh water, but a part of that destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, it's left its mark permanently, because you go on the Dead Sea, and there's nothing there. And it's, it is dead, when it used to be a very nice place and there was water there. But that sexual sin going on in Sodom and Gomorrah was big enough where God says, I'm going to destroy these people
Stu 15:53
In the asphalt and by bitumen, things that they found, like deposits of this, you know, like tar and he can you imagine having that erupt and fall on you. So that's, you know, one of the reasons Saddam Falls is because of the sexual perversion that's there. And God says that,
Todd 16:16
Well, we fast forward to God creating a nation wanting to reveal who he is through this nation. That's why he said, follow these 10 commandments, and then follow the other things we find in the laws first, what's perverted, you know, and he's lays it out, as it Exodus, and are numbers and others where it's not right for a man to lay with another man or a woman to lay with another woman or a man to be with an animal and that so you would think you shouldn't have to write that out. But unfortunately, because humans are humans, he did. And so he said, Don't do this. And when God went to save his people out of Egypt and bring them up into the Promised Land, they're in the desert, they're only out there for it's like the 50th day outside of Egypt. And Moses is gone for several days. And so what do they do?
Stu 17:02
It says that they made a golden calf. You know, when you think about the Egyptian gods, this is kind of an attempt to get back to Egypt, because the Egyptian had had two major calf cow Gods Hotjar, who was a female who was the goddess of childbirth, and then a pious, who was a bull God, so they'd have an actual one bowl that they chose for it to be the a plus bowl. And then when he they would treat him royally, he got everything he wanted. And then they would mummify this bowl. So we found the remains of all these bowls and things from ancient Egypt. And, you know, people talk about the golden calf. So they've found some in northern Israel, by, you know, in the stories, we always picture them as being like 12 feet tall and things like that. They're probably closer to one foot tall. But because it's gold, I mean, it's pretty precious metal, metal, and it's hard to find. But in Exodus 32, it says that, you know, when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, they said, Come, make us a God who will go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up from the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him. So Aaron said tear off the gold rings, and they throw them all together and out. Suddenly, it just pops out of the fire, according to Aaron. And then it says, so the next day in verse six of chapter 32 of Exodus, they rose early and offered burnt offerings and brought peace offerings, and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. And that sounds pretty
Todd 18:50
Yeah, they're playing bocce ball and cornhole and stuff, no, but
Stu 18:54
The verb there actually in the Hebrew is a verb that has strong sexual connotations. And it's used in Genesis 26 eight for somebody caressing Isaac caressing. Rebecca Yeah, so it's, it's, it means they're doing some bad stuff.
Todd 19:14
It's an orgy. Yeah. And Moses comes down to see this big old orgy did you ever watch Sanford and Son? I have. So when Fred's out of town, I've watched his lead as a kid probably should have been out throw on the ball. But anyways, great. He was supposed to watch out for the place and he said when Fred's gone he said no orgies is said to have no orgies Lamont so he was always on his it, but I was thinking that when I hear the word orgy, but anyways, it's just like Moses has gone for what maybe a week at the most on the mountain.
Stu 19:44
Well, I don't remember how many days he was up there, but it
Todd 19:47
It comes down and they're naked, running around having sex and they got this idol like where they came from, and God's like, Alright, I'm done with these people. And Moses intercedes over and over again for him because they were just pulled into that sexual sin
Stu 19:59
And they have to create their own God. That's a very human tendency. It's like all of us. If we don't have the true God to worship, we'll make up a fake one. And so a lot of people in our country nowadays, worship, sexual freedom is their God. Or whatever you want to call it. Sexual perversion is mostly what it is.
Unknown Speaker 20:24
It is its perversion, and you don't have to go very much farther to numbers 25 and the Israelite men were with those foreign nations, which was God said, Don't do that. Because these nations were just so pagan and child sacrifice and there was no nothing within their DNA, figuratively to make them believe and follow the one true God. And so that's why they had to go in and cleanse the land because these were just evil people doing evil stuff. It was just chaos anarchy. In yet the Israel, the Israelite men started sleeping with these Moabite women. And it says in Numbers 25, six, just one of just then one of the Israelites came and brought to his brothers, a Midianite woman in plain view of Moses and of the whole community, and said to his brothers, and while they were weeping at the entrance of the tent of meeting, so God's saying, don't do this anymore. The people are repentance, or at least a good percentage of Omar, this guy comes in broad daylight right in front of them and says, Hey, in your face, I brought this woman, I'm gonna sleep with her, my brothers are all gonna sleep with her. So Aaron's grandson grabs the Javelin goes in the tent and runs them both through together. And it's, it seems extreme, obviously, that seems brutal. But it does at least tell us how important that Israel's continuing as a nation was to be clean of these kinds of sexual perversion things that God told them not to do.
Stu 21:50
And it also says that because that guy ran the guys through it checked the plague. That was God was unleashing on them for this sexual perversion, said those who died by the plague were 24,000. So it's, it's not that this guy was wrong to do it, he stopped it, he stopped the perversion.
And so someone say, Well, how could you think that's a good thing that this guy would do that? And if that's who God is, believe it's like, Well, all I know is is it speaks to the importance of sexual purity and Gods
Following what God says is the right path.
Unknown Speaker 22:26
And, and God isn't a respecter of one person, or even one generation because he sees the future generations. And if you're off a little bit now, and then you do that same or more with your kids and their with their kids. That's where our country is heading. That's why this is such an important topic, because it's been escalated just rapidly in the last few years. But this also has been set the table from the 60s and even before them, but especially since the sexual revolution of the 60s, and that it's like, oh, we'll be more accepting this. And this is free love. And this is this and that is it sounds hippie, dippie. And fun, but it's, it's destructive, it's ruining lives. And speaking of diseases, you know, the plague their, you know, I would say AIDS, all these diseases, that's God's way of saying, don't do that anymore. If you stay married to one woman and one man for your whole life, you're not going to have any worries about herpes or syphilis or any of that stuff.
Stu 23:15
And all these, you know, back, they're resistant to any possible antibiotics now with some of these, you know, venereal diseases that are spreading like crazy, because our kids are taught, oh, have sex or do whatever you like, you know, just feel free, because there's nobody that's gonna watch this, while somebody is watching all of this, and it's, you know, you're gonna pay the price. Eventually,
Todd 23:41
God is not mocked. He's not fooled. Just he's not fooled, especially when it's in behind closed doors. But even now, when it's out in front, it's like more in your face, or more take that we can do whatever we want. And so there comes a limit where God says, Enough is enough for every culture for every country throughout history. So unfortunately, Israel had that over and over again, you find a judges this crazy story and judges 19 about a Levite a concubine, and they all raped her and that in the bedroom turned into pieces. Yeah. So he's like, send it all the tribes and so just ended up a murder and chaos. It's like, a crazy story. Hollywood couldn't write up something that's sick. Throughout the divided kingdom, obviously, Solomon wasn't a great example with his like 700 concubines and 300 wives, like over 1000 Women like how do you even How do you even work that out sexual relations with 1000 ladies I want every three years I guess it's kind of if you're
Stu 24:39
if you're able, if he's able keep that hey, Solomon,
Todd 24:42
the man but who would want that? Would you want to go home and Well,
Stu 24:46
I gotta tell a funny story. When, you know, when you take your son and you're talking to him about you know, being a good man and what you want to do and you know, then you say Alright, son, so who in the Bible would be your, you know, favorite role model or person to be? He said, I think I'd pick Solomon because he had 300 wives. And they would do all of his work for him. You know, he thought since Mom, you know, would do the laundry and you know, so he could, you know, multiply wives that would make his life a lot easier. Yes. Whereas those of us who are married No, that's not a good idea.
Todd 25:30
That's 300 wives. You got to try to play. Happy wife happy, happy wives. happy lives. That's tough one. Yep, I'll stick with my one. Thank you very much. Okay, so even in Jesus day, this shenanigans were still going on. Because we we've been to the place up Northern Israel, where there was still a lot of crazy sexual immorality going on. Right?
Stu 25:56
Yeah. It's kind of a special thing that you and I got to go to accessory of Philippi and shoot episode for the unexpected Messiah, which is on our website,
Todd 26:08
Truth Wins, podcast.com, check it out.
Stu 26:10
And in that day, you know, Jesus is with His disciples. And he's teaching them they're memorizing Torah, they're learning the Word of God, they're following him around, they're learning what it is to be a godly man, they're modeling themselves after the rep be like the rabbi. But it takes them it's 28 miles north of where their headquarters are down at Capernaum. In the Sea of Galilee, north of that was a place called Cezary of Philippi. And there were some weird goings on at this place, because it was also called penaeus. Because it was the world center of worship for the god Pan, who was a Greek fertility got half man half goat, usually pictured with kind of a human goat face with like a little beard going on. But they kept sacred goats there too. And in the spring, they believed that in order to make fertility and the crops come back, they would have the priest of bale but all and the priestess of a Shira copulate in front of all of the people, and they would start doing this too in the mud with each other with male to male, female, you know, to female goat male to go, you know, just sick stuff. Yeah. Jesus takes them up to this place, and says, Who do you say that I am, you know, their final exam? And
Todd 27:50
yeah, and he's designed, you know, you he's the rock, or Peter says, You are the Christ. And he says, Okay, on this rock talking about Peter, but as we showed in the in the video, it's like, all it was beautiful area. Yeah, rocks everywhere. That's the build the temple out of the rock wall in there. But he's like, we gotta be on the front lines of the most depraved parts of our culture to bring truth and hope and light, but we don't jump in with them. He didn't say, Hey, guys, roll in the mud
Unknown Speaker 28:19
at a goat. Yeah. Did
Unknown Speaker 28:21
you go get your goat on? Yeah, no, Jesus, like we're to be a light in the gates of hell will not prevail against the church, as long as we push back, if we keep going backwards, and just becoming like the world be transformed. And here's the thing. It's like, oh, just hit me. There's just a video came out that my wife showed me. It's a Catholic church, and they had a drag guy on there. And they're celebrating it and saying, Hey, in this guy dressed in drag says, you know, the Bible says that we're not to conform to the patterns of the world. So the world says that this is weird, but we so we totally twist the whole mean, I mean, the exact opposite of the meaning. And he says were to be transformed by the renewing of our minds like this. Were to be open to people wherever they come in. And that's horrible, horrible exegesis. Right? And that's what Satan does. That's what he did in the desert with Jesus and he'll always say, Do you got any twist scripture? I was like, Man, this couldn't be more obvious that Satan is using this as a twist of what's truth and that's what perversion is, is taking something great. God created sex it's it has its you know, boundaries as far as where it's supposed to be. And you pervert it, you twist it, you tweak it and it over the years it just gets horrible. And the problem is they're dead bodies in the road because of
Unknown Speaker 29:40
and that becomes more and more acceptable when you keep it out in front of people like Oh, this must be okay because I see people kissing on TV Yeah, to men to women. And it's it's being thrust down our throats it's forced onto like, it doesn't even have to be look at look on any dime. In companies, you know commercials about marriage, they'll always force something in there about a gay couple.
