The Painted Door Church - Chicago
The Painted Door Church is church family that gathers in Chicago, IL. We are a people who share the same story; we are sinner, saved by grace. We draw our name from the Exodus account in the Hebrew Scriptures, when God spared his people from judgement, passing over all homes that had the blood of a spotless lamb painted across their doorways. Jesus is the new spotless lamb, his death on a Roman cross sparing the people of God from judgment once for all. He reconnects us to our Maker and to each other and invites us to participate in his grand work of restoring all things.

The Psalter of Jesus: Rest from the King // Psalm 126-128
•
Pastor Mark Bergin
The kings of the earth give us little more than ruin. Even their greatest strengths will fail. But their is a king of heaven who has made the earth his concern. And he has brought the kingdom of heaven to us -- all the way to us. It is a kingdom that requires no toil, since its king is ever at rest and ever sharing his rest with us. Do you know this rest? It is not some distant reality, but rather a present and manifest gift for every hour. King Jesus is true, and his rest is here and now and all around -- in the heart-lifting joy of laughter, and the body-soothing peace of sleep, and the soul-filling presence of children. These are gifts that no earthly king need ruin. Only look and see.
