The Painted Door Church - Chicago
The Painted Door Church is church family that gathers in Chicago, IL. We are a people who share the same story; we are sinner, saved by grace. We draw our name from the Exodus account in the Hebrew Scriptures, when God spared his people from judgement, passing over all homes that had the blood of a spotless lamb painted across their doorways. Jesus is the new spotless lamb, his death on a Roman cross sparing the people of God from judgment once for all. He reconnects us to our Maker and to each other and invites us to participate in his grand work of restoring all things.

Jesus, the Man of Faith / Hebrews 8:1-13
•
Pastor Kirk McKelvey
Most of us have built up, or at least inherited, an image of Jesus that portrays him as a super hero, handling temptations and dispensing miracles out of the power of his divinity. But in his flesh Jesus was truly a man, who suffered and grew and learned just like all the rest of us. Hebrews 12 describes him as the “author and perfecter” of our faith. And faith, by its very nature, is blind. For all the expectations of deliverance and triumph that people placed, and that we still place, on him as Messiah, Jesus’ faith led him to fulfill them all and more - but in the most perplexing and mysterious of ways: by dying on a cross.
