The Painted Door Church - Chicago
The Painted Door Church is church family that gathers in Chicago, IL. We are a people who share the same story; we are sinner, saved by grace. We draw our name from the Exodus account in the Hebrew Scriptures, when God spared his people from judgement, passing over all homes that had the blood of a spotless lamb painted across their doorways. Jesus is the new spotless lamb, his death on a Roman cross sparing the people of God from judgment once for all. He reconnects us to our Maker and to each other and invites us to participate in his grand work of restoring all things.

Of Crowns and Thorns: Gentle Jesus, Meek and Wild / 2 Corinthians 10:1-6

Pastor Mark Bergin
The meekness and gentleness of Jesus are like fire to a lofty world. They are divine weaponry, toppling the fortresses of vanity and self-reliance. Jesus knows who he is, and there is nothing more dangerous to desperately faceless people. We don't who we are, and so we grasp after costumes of achievers, victims, stoics. But Jesus would save us. Live in me, he pleads. Surrender, and wear my face. We will be children of God together. Nothing to prove. Unafraid. Free. This is the life Jesus brings to us, a reckless and unleashed obedience to disarm our hostile land.
