The Painted Door Church - Chicago
The Painted Door Church is church family that gathers in Chicago, IL. We are a people who share the same story; we are sinner, saved by grace. We draw our name from the Exodus account in the Hebrew Scriptures, when God spared his people from judgement, passing over all homes that had the blood of a spotless lamb painted across their doorways. Jesus is the new spotless lamb, his death on a Roman cross sparing the people of God from judgment once for all. He reconnects us to our Maker and to each other and invites us to participate in his grand work of restoring all things.

Pastor Mark Bergin
God is hidden from sight amid unbelief. He is seen only through eyes of faith. To seek out proof of the treasures of God is to miss them. For they are housed in cracked vessels of clay, even the brokenness of our own frames. We rush to cover or correct our weakness and flaws. And we avert our eyes from the weakness and flaws of others, too ashamed to see or be seen. Yet it is those very weak places where the light of God shines most brightly. Only with the assurance of faith can we stare into the most frail parts of ourselves and one another. And only with those eyes of faith can our flinching, recoiling horror be transformed into delight at seeing God there.
