We do not own ourselves. The impulses and desires of our bodies do not rule us; we are dead to them. Rather the spirit of Christ rules in us making us alive to God. Indeed, we are children of God, and if children then we are heirs, and if we are heirs then we lack no good thing. Our Father is here in front of you. And he has not brought condemnation in his brow but power in his hand—all the power we need to participate in the sufferings of Christ—to know joy in the life of God.
