The Painted Door Church - Chicago
The Painted Door Church is church family that gathers in Chicago, IL. We are a people who share the same story; we are sinner, saved by grace. We draw our name from the Exodus account in the Hebrew Scriptures, when God spared his people from judgement, passing over all homes that had the blood of a spotless lamb painted across their doorways. Jesus is the new spotless lamb, his death on a Roman cross sparing the people of God from judgment once for all. He reconnects us to our Maker and to each other and invites us to participate in his grand work of restoring all things.

Pastor Mark Bergin
The prophet Elijah was often faithless. He questioned the care and provision of God when hardship befell him. Yet his faithlessness had no bearing on God’s commitment to him. Repeatedly, God met Elijah’s faithless heart and faithless words with acts of faithful mercy. No matter how much Elijah seemed to give up on God, God never gave up on him. No matter the trial or the depth of the miracle needed, God’s persistence in care for Elijah prevailed. So unrelenting was God’s fatherly love that it filled Elijah to overflowing and watered the scorched earth wherever he went. Even the fiercest drought could not dry up the life within him.
