We must remember that we are not of this world, that we live hidden in Jesus. Only then can we face our fears and stand awkwardly with nothing in our hands but love.
Show Notes
Imprisoned, his life in peril, John the Baptizer sends his disciples to ask Jesus a question: “Are you the one who is to come, or shall we look for another?” What was once certain to John is now clouded with doubt and fear. He needs a word, a reminder of who Jesus is and what he has done. And perhaps especially, what Jesus has done for John. It is only when we remember who Jesus is and what he has done for us that we can face the doubts and fears that our world provokes in us. We must remember that we are not of this world, that we live hidden in Jesus. Only then can we push forward into the most terrifying places. Only then can we face our fears and stand awkwardly with nothing in our hands but love.
