The Painted Door Church - Chicago
The Painted Door Church is church family that gathers in Chicago, IL. We are a people who share the same story; we are sinner, saved by grace. We draw our name from the Exodus account in the Hebrew Scriptures, when God spared his people from judgement, passing over all homes that had the blood of a spotless lamb painted across their doorways. Jesus is the new spotless lamb, his death on a Roman cross sparing the people of God from judgment once for all. He reconnects us to our Maker and to each other and invites us to participate in his grand work of restoring all things.

Faith is a Terrible Idea / James 2:14-26
•
Pastor Mark Bergin
The Christian faith is not merely a set of doctrines to be accepted. It is a way of life to be embraced. And Jesus lived that way of life for us. He filled up faith with good works, courageous acts of love, mercy, and service. So when we enter into the faith, we do not enter into an idea. We enter into a life already lived. We enter into a finished work. We are mysteriously grafted into the very life Jesus. If Christian faith were simply an idea, it would be a terrible one -- an elusive trust impossible to sustain. But Christian faith is the faithfulness of Christ given to us. And what freedom it is that his faithfulness is his alone to sustain.
