Lucy’s island homecoming takes a deadly turn when her family’s unusually intelligent chimpanzee, Ben, contracts rabies. With her father away and no help on the horizon, paradise quickly becomes a prison. Lucy and her friends are forced into a brutal fight for survival against a pet they once trusted — now driven by pure, uncontrollable rage.
We discuss Ben’s tragic loss of control as he succumbs to the virus, break down the film’s scenes of full-throttle monkey carnage. We also take a detour into the history of famous chimps, from the iconic PG Tips ads to Bubbles, the onetime companion of Michael Jackson.
