What's up, guys? Welcome to the Social Media Entrepreneurs Podcast. You see how become a full-time entrepreneur by leveraging modern social media strategies. I'm your host, Derek Fidel. Today we have an absolute banger of an episode because every single episode you ever see from me from now on, you can know that it is a guaranteed banger. I used to come out with an episode a week or two episodes a week, and sometimes I just gotta give you the best material that I have at that time to keep the pace. Now I don't have as much of a pace because YouTube is my bread and butter for content, and the 2026 audio podcast landscape is mostly dead. It doesn't mean I'm gonna abandon you guys, it just means that I only come out with episodes when I have an emergency update for you. And for that reason, it will always be a banger. Today will be one, of course, and we are gonna be talking about a key aspect to entrepreneurship that you've heard before, but you're probably not doing. So here I am going to give you the message again because it's imperative to your success. It is about what you don't do. Entrepreneurship is about what you don't do way more than it is about what you do. Because you will always be doing something unless you're literally just laying on the couch staring at the ceiling. Even scrolling social media is doing something. But what if you were to eliminate Doom scrolling? How much time would you gain back every year? Is that enough time to start a business? It probably is. What if you eliminated fantasy football? Is that enough time that if you took those three to five hours every single week, probably more? Probably more. Probably more between the amount of games you watch, the amount of time you spend on making decisions, the extra research that you do, and the extra time that you just think about it, even while you're driving. You could be thinking about something productive, but you're thinking about that instead. Maybe you're watching, listening to fantasy football podcasts instead of productive podcasts like this one. You are also wasting time, right? So all of that put together, would that be enough time to start a business? Probably. Probably five hours a week times 52, 250 hours. I mean, it takes a half hour to make an LLC, it takes another two hours to make a website, another two hours to perfect your website, another half hour per post. I mean, you yeah, you're building a pretty substantial business with that, and this is year after year, too, that you guys are doing that. I guess fantasy football isn't all year long, but it still is, you know, about 20-30 weeks in total that you uh spend with preparing for the draft, all of that extra stuff. At least I did, and if you guys are entrepreneurs and you're playing to win, you probably are going crazy, right? You're trying to actually win the league and put the time in. And that came up for me this week because I was asked to be in two different fantasy football leagues, and I was like, are 30-year-old men still doing this? I know that I want to play, but at what cost? So here are some immediate steps for you to become an if you do these, you will just naturally become a successful entrepreneur. This is crazy because of all the uh episodes where I give you advice do this, do that, do this, do that, nothing will compare to giving you more immediate and definite results than me telling you to stop doing some of the things that you're already doing. Because you will naturally replace them with more productive things. You're already just going to take care of everything else if you just remove these things. Get rid of a negative habit or a negative hobby. Fantasy football is an example of a negative hobby. It's not that you can't have hobbies, but you want to have ones that are typically more fitness oriented so that you can take care of your health and your well-being and get outside and spend less time in front of a TV and a phone researching. Make hiking the hobby instead. For me, it's jujitsu. I'm entered in a jiu-jitsu competition in November, and I'm going three or four times a week right now. It is kicking my ass every time. I love it. I'm learning how to fight, so I'm learning self-defense in real life. I'm also getting an insane cardio workout, an insane strength workout, building mental discipline, a never give up attitude, and it's the hobby. It's actually the fun part of my day. And this is the crazy thing about it. You actually can have a hobby that is super productive that is still genuine fun. Just like you can have food that is absolutely delicious and totally healthy, but we it's just not as easy to do, right? It's just a little bit more difficult. It requires you to build up a little confidence to book book that first meeting. It might require a little bit better skills to make a delicious meal that is also extremely healthy. It is a little bit easier to just throw cheese on bread and and some meat on there and some sauce and call it a delicious meal. It's not the healthiest one, right? So I agree that it's a little bit harder, but also as an entrepreneur, you shouldn't care about the difficulty. So I'm saying there's a much better life for you in every way if you just start adapting a little bit higher difficulty of things that you do across the board to the point that it just kind of r resets your baseline to this, right? I'm gonna I'm gonna go have some fun tonight. I'm gonna go to jujitsu class. Rather than I'm gonna have some fun tonight, I'm gonna go to the movies. I'm gonna play fantasy football. I'm gonna meet my buddies at the bar and we're all gonna watch the game. It's gonna be about four hours total with commute time, and we're gonna have about three beers and two uh entrees, uh, or an entree and an appetizer, both are highly unhealthy, um, highly processed foods, and that's gonna be my night. That's my four hours. I'm going to get fatter, get stupider, have senseless time. I'm gonna have a very boring conversation with my friends. It might be fun. I'll I'll say this. It will probably be fun, but it's not as fun as doing something that when you come home, you're glad that you did it, rather than like, ah, damn, that was that was a waste. It's kind of just how you're gonna feel about it. You're gonna feel about it like that afterwards. Maybe not beforehand, you're looking forward to it during it, you're having a good time, and you get home and you're kind of like, oh crap, like I gotta catch back up on life. I don't feel good. I drank a little bit too much, or uh man, I'm full from those freaking cheese curds, right? And and you lost. And your fantasy football team lost. And the player that you needed to win was on your bench. So those three hours that you spent making that decision the last week were wrong. So now you're emotionally upset too. This is probably the most negative hobby out there that there are literally zero benefits, and there are massive negatives out there, and it's also very common. So that's why I'm talking about this one. There's a lot of other ones for for men, like you can say this with porn, but I mean, porn doesn't take anywhere the near the amount of time per week that guys will spend on like fantasy football. What other negative habits do you have going on that really produce absolutely nothing in your life? Swap that out with something positive. Boom, you did it, you're successful. Or just remove it and then see what gets filled there, anyways. You don't have to just do a direct replacement, or would that ever play out exactly in your schedule? A direct replacement, but just stop playing fantasy football. Rem get get out of every single league. What will happen this year? You're naturally going to sell so much more, you're naturally going to do that much more in your business, you're gonna do that much more for your fitness goals, you take up reading. You're you're going to replace it with things that are more productive than that because that is a net negative. It is a massive net negative with no positive variables involved. You will absolutely have a better life instantly by just simply not playing fantasy football. Whatever it may be in your life, I'm not going to be able to list off you. You know what it is. That's probably just one of the more common ones out there, but you know what I'm talking about in your life. What if you just if there's one thing that you could eliminate such that your entire life would become more fruitful, what would that be? Eliminate that thing. You did it. You're successful. See you next week.
