In our teachings, we use the Hebrew names for the people of the Bible. For example, Moses' real name was Moshe. Jesus' real name is Yeshua. Paul's real name was Shaul. Paul may have had a Greek name as well but most of his dealings were with other Jews who would have called him Shaul. Have you ever had trouble remembering someone's name because they had a different name than most people? Paul was probably an easier name for them to remember. Do not be confused. The Bible was written by people who spoke Hebrew and not in your language.

We know Yeshua's real name is Yeshua because that is how it is used in the scriptures of the Hebrew New Testament. Yeshua means salvation. There is a Hebrew word play involved with Yeshua's name. For example, Adam's name is associated with a word play. Adamah in Hebrew means ground. Adam came from the adamah, the ground. 

Substituting the word play into Matthew 1:21 we get, “You are to name him Yeshua (salvation),” for He → (will save) yoshia, “his people from their sins.” We see the obvious Hebrew word play for Yeshua’s name.

So, the Hebrew word play (pun) is:

Salvation, will save.

Yeshua (salvation) for He → yoshia (will save) 

You may prefer to use Jesus for His name, but I prefer to use His real name and why not? Don't we try to call people we know by their real name and not a made-up name?
