Some People think they are doing okay spiritually but sometimes that is not true. Deuteronomy 29:19-20 NKJV says, "He blesses himself in his heart, saying, ‘I shall have peace, even though I follow the dictates of my heart – as though the drunkard could be included with the sober.' The LORD would not spare him; for then the anger of the LORD and His jealousy would burn against that man." God wants us to follow His good commandments and not our own heart. God reaches out to the world over and over. God has reached out to mankind over the ages. God has given us His truths since the inception of time.
Some make God into a God who wants to indulge us. God wants what is best for us. That is not the same thing as indulging us. Parents often protect their children from harm by not indulging their every whim. Stay focused on the truths that you know because God has our best interests at heart. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 NKJV says, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all. for God will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil." God must judge mankind, because He is a just God, He must not leave evil unpunished. But God will also reward those who do what is good, those who believe in Him and keep His good commandments.
Those who live in sin will be judged for their sin.
Hebrews 10:29-31 NKJV says,
How much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, "Vengeance is Mine, I will repay," says the Lord. And again, "The LORD will judge His people." It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
Those who are wise will keep God's Old Testament commandments.
Deuteronomy 4:6 tells us that God's commandments are His good wisdom for mankind. Be wise and do what is right (in other words be righteous) so that you will be in God's future wonderful kingdom. Daniel 12:3 NKJV says, "Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever." Those who do what God teaches us to do and do what is right (namely, those who are righteous) will rise from the dead and be in God's future kingdom.
