Look to the real light. This very important scripture in Deuteronomy tells us that God's commandments give us wisdom and understanding. 

Deuteronomy 4:6 NKJV says, Therefore be careful to observe them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples who will hear all these statutes, and say, ‘Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.

Therefore, the proper way to understand life is at the root of our understanding for a proper and good life. People often think they are on the right track in life and are confident in their beliefs and practice. But is the basis for what they think and do a proper and good basis for their life? 

 Because some people have so minimized their spiritual side of life, they often do not have a biblically based life and a very minimal spiritual knowhow. The way the world works and our society can sometimes speak more loudly to us about life than the good ways of life given to us by our good God. As you can see from our scripture in Deuteronomy, God's commandments produce a blessed and good life because His commandments have the depth so to make us wise. A wise person should know the best way to approach all they do in life. A person of understanding knows the why they do things a certain way. We should do things God's good ways. 

 The systems of the world can be imposing. We are in the world, but we must live in the true reality, the reality that there is also an important spiritual side to life. We do not treat God's commandments as just suggestions, but they are given to us by a good and all-knowing God who has our best interests at heart. God pleads with us to accept His good commandments. Deuteronomy 5:29 NKJV says, "Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!"
