We need to talk about biblical issues because people are easily swayed into believing all kinds of things instead of what the Bible says. Deuteronomy 6:7 NKJV says, "You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up." I went to a seminar years ago and the person talking said that a study had been done where they asked children if their parents had shared certain important things with them. The children responded no. When they asked the parents whether they had shared these things with their children, the parents said yes. This demonstrates the wisdom of God's word and the need to hear the scriptures over and over. We all need to hear what the Bible says over and over.
If I repeat myself, it is our opportunity to work what I am teaching into our minds and hearts. Kefa also kept this commandments from Deuteronomy 6:7 to always remind them. He says in 2 Peter 1:12 NKJV, "For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established in the present truth." Shaul did the same. Galatians 5:21 NKJV says, "Which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." Those who do not keep God's Old Testament commandments will not be in the future kingdom of God. In the New Testament portion we are commanded to receive the Messianic gift of the Holy Spirit.
The psalmist of Psalms 119 (perhaps King David) desires to keep God's word which is often referred to as God's judgments or commandments. In verse 18, he calls them wonderous which could also be translated as great, marvelous, or extraordinary according to Strong's Dictionary.
Psalms 119:17-21 NKJV says,
Deal bountifully with Your servant, that I may live and keep Your word. Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law. I am a stranger in the earth; do not hide Your commandments from me. My soul breaks with longing for Your judgments at all times. You rebuke the proud – the cursed, who stray from Your commandments .
The reason the Psalmist talks about those who do not keep God's commandments as being cursed is because he is quoting Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy 27:26 NKJV says, "Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law by observing them." They bring curses on themselves for not keeping God's good law. Also, not keeping God's good Old Testament commandments is to do evil. God's word contains His good judgements, His good commandments. Psalms 119:101-102 NKJV says, "I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Your word. I have not departed from Your judgments."
We are to follow God's instructions for life and not evil. Proverbs 4:13-14 NKJV says, "Take firm hold of instruction, do not let go; keep her, for she is your life. Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of evil." God's commandments are what is best for us, after He is God and knows how we should best live. Proverbs 3:7-8 NKJV says, "Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones."
