This week we play a reflection of the life of Edel Quinn by Fr Eamonn McCarthy. Edel was born in Kanturk, Co. Cork in 1907, and in the 1930’s became ill with tuberculosis which prevented her entering the Poor Clares. However God had another plan for Edel. She joined the Legion of Mary and went on the first Legion pilgrimage to Lourdes in 1934. After travelling to England and Wales with the Legion, Frank Duff suggested she spread the message of the Legion in Africa. She arrived in Mombasa in November 1936 and continued working in Africa till she died in 1944.
