Getting to know our Guardian Angels - 4th October 2020 (SS102fm programme excerpt)(S10E47b)
On this weeks programme John and Shane have a chat about the Christian understanding of angels as we are in the middle of "Angel week" between the feast of the Archangels (September 29th) and the feast of the Guardian Angels (October 2nd). Reflecting on how angels are seen as God's messengers
Pope Francis posed a question "I would like to ask you all a question: Do you speak to your angel?.......Do you know the name of your angel? Do you listen to your angel? Do you let yourself be taken by the hand along the path or pushed to move?"
By obeying their guardian angels, he said, Christian men and women can avoid the dangers of taking the wrong path or, worse, leaving the path and going "from one place to another like in a labyrinth that ensnares."
He encouraged Christians to pray and speak to their guardian angel who "is not only with us but also sees God the father."
"The angel is the daily door toward transcendence, to the encounter with the Father," Pope Francis said. "The angel helps me walk along the path because he looks at the Father who knows the way. Let us not forget this traveling companion."
Note - due to stricter enforcement of the BAI broadcasting rules, we can only use 30 sec of music on uploads which are broadcast on West Limerick 102fm.
