Welcome to another episode of These Are the Aesthetics. I go by the name of Cheech, aka the ladies' favorite podcaster. AKA uh Mr. Fourth Quarter. Uh aka uh just give me the ball and get out the way.
SPEAKER_04Well, I go by the name of Gary, aka in Gary Trust, aka Mr. Sneaker Convo, aka I'm now a fur father.
SPEAKER_00Oh yeah, that's right. That shit happened while we were on the low. Uh and today we have uh some very special guests. Uh it's a collect, it's a it's a collective of guys that you know are doing some amazing things in the community. They also have their own platform, uh, they're shining a light on a lot of good things happening in the city and outside. So yeah, we have uh CYON in the building. Uh go ahead and introduce yourselves if y'all got aka or aka's or any uh at names or stuff like that. You're right. Let the audience know who we're meeting today.
SPEAKER_01Alright, so uh I'm Nigel, aka. Well, previously I work Magic Daily, currently we work Magic Daily. I like that. We yeah, it's a collective it's a collective for sure.
unknownThat's it. You ain't got no aka?
SPEAKER_00You ain't got no more nicknames or anything.
SPEAKER_01The man of many hacks. Like, I don't nobody calls me that, but hey, I do a lot of stuff. Yeah, Magic Man, aka Magic Man for sure.
SPEAKER_03For sure. Um I'm Juan, aka CEO, founder of Create Your Own Narrative, right along with my people, so you feel me? And on aka Primetime, man.
SPEAKER_02All right, show up that part. My name is Tony, aka T R. Um, co-founder, create your own narrative. And you feel me? I'm the play caller. All right, Phil Jackson.
SPEAKER_04Alright. This is a very long-awaited crossover. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because honestly, we we were supposed to do like an interview wrap-up, and then we were trying to figure out the right schedule for both of us. Right, right. Uh, and then they we typically shoot on Wednesdays, then they started a radio show on Wednesdays. And then Thursdays is over.
SPEAKER_03Thursdays is over. You know what?
SPEAKER_00Fuck it. We were definitely ready. The time is now. I was excited to talk to you guys.
SPEAKER_02Appreciate y'all for the adjustments. Yeah, of course, man.
SPEAKER_04Once again, I do appreciate appreciate y'all for inviting us, especially to like one of your award shows. Yeah, that was dope. I want to um personally apologize because it's sorry if I looked to get your award show. I took home two plates of food. That's why. I'm talking about that was some of the like which year was that? This was That was a few years ago. Yeah, probably 2022, I think.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Salvation Army.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yes, that was my mama's food. Did she sell food? Did she sell food? Uh she wants to. She needs to.
SPEAKER_04Because, like, bro, when I tell you, that's some of the best Haitian food I've ever had in my life. And that's coming from a Jamaican, by the way. Nah, that's real. That's real.
SPEAKER_00I ain't gonna lie. I I kind of underestimated what that night was supposed to be like. That's real. Because in my mind, I didn't know what to expect. Because you know me. I'm going there, I'm looking. I looked around. Cheese look like you was going to church that day. There was some talent in there. I was unfamiliar with, you know, it's always, you know, talent for their art, right, Cheat? Correct. Good visuals. Good visuals. Uh, but something we like to do uh when we talk to people, when we sit down with people is also to check the temperature in the room, making sure everybody is level headed. Uh so what we like to do uh first and foremost is ask the room how we're doing. So what's your energy like? How's your week going? And just rate your living experience from a scale of one to ten. Um Gary, you can start and we'll work around the room until we get back to it.
SPEAKER_04Cool. Um, last episode I was definitely out of it. Half of me was here last episode. Um, I'm feeling a lot better. I would say I'm a solid nine, even though this week has been a lot of um late nights and early mornings, but um I'm in a better mood this week.
SPEAKER_02That's real. I mean, this week, uh the devil has been working hard. Talk about it. God is good though.
SPEAKER_00But my Lord and Savior, yes sir, he got that two-piece.
SPEAKER_02You feel me? So that is true. I'm straight no matter what. So what do you rate it out of 10? Um this week, I give this week um only because of like the overcoming and the conference. Is that a word conference? He can be the thing. Yeah, yeah. Uh I would give it a straight up eight. Okay. That's 80%. Yeah, I'm good. That's up. That's a B. That's up there. You pass. That's a good free throw percentage. Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_03What about you, Joy? It's definitely been an up and down week. I agree. He was right there with me. Yeah, right there in the paint. You might as well get a paint read. You might as well, for real. Tight eight. For sure. Um, I'll give it an eight. We'll give it an eight and a half. Because even though everything went wrong yesterday, we still ended up getting everything done, handling business. So and being able to share a great story with um a guest we had on last night. So we'll call it an eight and a half. Yeah, that's good. After tonight, I'm definitely resting.
SPEAKER_01Right there with you, bro. For sure. If if I had to put a number on it, I'd say eight as well. Okay. You know, it's like been a it's it's been a smooth week. Been very busy, okay, for sure. Been on the go. I've been here a lot, honestly. Like, y'all don't know it, but uh, I've been here a lot. For sure.
SPEAKER_00X X stay open.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. You know what I mean? Because I do a lot of production, so that's that's my main thing. That's what I've been on this week. And we just coasting through, coasting through.
SPEAKER_00When they're not checking for you, that's when you gotta start.
SPEAKER_01That's when you gotta start worrying for sure.
SPEAKER_04Hey man, X's spot is a great alibi, by the way. I am here.
SPEAKER_01It is creating exactly my own narrative.
SPEAKER_00But for me, man, I'm right with you, man. I'm I'm I'm at a nine, I can't complain. Y'all know my motto. As long as family is good, you know, the job is three me great. We come here and we kick it. I'm cool. I'm a simple guy. I kind of keep my life simple that way. There are shit that's happening all around. I'm not gonna act like I'm above it, but uh yeah, as long as I pray and leave it up to God, that's that's the best that I can do. Handle what I can, fight it out, other stuff. Uh I just let the let the big homie worry about that. Um, but yeah, one of the things that we um we kind of became friends over is fashion. Um some people care about that, so we kind of turned it into a little segment on the show. We like to kind of see what each other is wearing and talk about it a little bit in the beginning. So uh I'll start with myself. Um I got some vintage uh hiker shorts, some lightning fours on the feet, vintage T, nothing crazy. Uh courtesy of Gary here. I think you gave me this. You're talking about nothing. It is a regular Thursday.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, um I was uh I was gonna give some shit earlier because I'm like that shirt go for a little money now. That's hard.
SPEAKER_00Thanks for the gift. Thank you. My kind sir. I appreciate it. You kind of want it back. You gotta have to go get it, buddy. That's the one that Kanye was caught in. Oh man, but what about you? What you got on it?
SPEAKER_01Uh I I got on I got on the best brand in the world right now. I got on my my thinking cap T Y O N, you know what I'm saying? Talk about it! Gotta have that on me, and then I got I got the this guy. So, you know what I'm saying? I got the reebok classics, the rebuck classics, just some some slight the camo cloth shorts, because you know I like to stay comfy. See, you got the sweatshirt, you know. It's got the essentials. We got the essentials.
SPEAKER_03The essentials. Yeah, for sure. Oh, you know, you got the thank you cap always. You always keep the thank you cap on CYN shirt. Uniform? Uniform. I forgot where I got this from though. I don't know. Probably like a little thrift store. Nice little quarter. Yeah, corduroy?
SPEAKER_00I think that was A soles, bro.
SPEAKER_03A souls, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I had to look at that. It's clean though.
SPEAKER_03Uh this is that uh corduroy. You know what I mean? Same phone. I'm gonna put it on corduroy over there. Oh, we got the the the jeans shorts. Listen, everybody can't do it, so don't do it. You you you do it you're doing it right.
SPEAKER_04It's above the air, I'm a big gene short advocate.
SPEAKER_03I don't know about the one over there, but yeah, you gotta you gotta keep it above the knee. A lot of people don't do it right, but you did it right. When they undo that knee and you sitting down, you got a problem. Yeah, you're gonna drop the scene, right? You might as well be a data force. Yes, yeah. You done went back in time. Yeah, you might as well. And then we got the AC song with the uh the two songs.
SPEAKER_02There we go, man. That part. Okay. Uh I came simple. Uh thinking cap. Um, game changers, Marilyn Monroe. Another game changer. Um Old Navy on the Old Navy be having some sleepy shit on the low lazy uh sweatpants, cool grade threes, um Travis Scott, you feel me? Cactus uh Cuban Link. You feel me? I ain't even peeped. I ain't even know what that y'all like focusing. I wore this for y'all. I wore this for y'all. I thought y'all was gonna peep out the gate. I didn't actually.
SPEAKER_04I actually know but I like the second.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was some sentimental value shit you had on. No, it's a story for the bigger. Yeah, but you sock it, nigga. You should have fucking.
SPEAKER_02It's the story behind this. It's one of the ones, the one lows that came out. Uh one of the earlier ones. I can't remember which one it was. Yeah, the brown joints. The original brown and black, or if I had to guess, I would think it's the all brown.
SPEAKER_00Okay.
SPEAKER_04Mm-hmm. I know what you're talking about.
SPEAKER_02It was one of them that I wanted and I couldn't get. And I scroll over to the bottom. I say, dang, that's kind of hard. You feel me?
SPEAKER_00I used to do that with Supreme Alive when I couldn't get the boxes. Oh, when is it? I'm leaving with something.
SPEAKER_04I'm leaving with something. Yeah, um, and I got on um filthy project, Palm Beach's very own. Yeah, mean that.
SPEAKER_01Hometown.
SPEAKER_04I'll say Jerry. Um, Eric Emmanuel shorts. Been mean that too. Tube socks. Um, and we wear the same shorts. I'm a size 10, 10 and a half. I'm not talking about the clothes. Oh my god. I'm coming for you the way my dad is actually, he's been dropping dropping some pounds very quickly. He he went down to an XL, so it's like he's right there. Oh, my dad's like, oh, I'm coming for that closet, just so you know.
SPEAKER_02Every time I got something in the closet, every time I just put it on and I could finally fit it, I'm like, oh yeah.
SPEAKER_04Because me and him wear the same shoe size, so I already had to like keep him out the spooky back. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. For sure. You know, they're gonna give me that shit.
SPEAKER_01My dad was my dad was in trouble, bro. Like when my feet got big enough to fit in his shoes, bro. I was all in the closet, bro. All the all the Tim's and the retro draw, all that I was in that bitch.
SPEAKER_02That was me, but with colognes, like my dad, when he has some shit, my dad has some non-name brand stuff, and it like it's just a Haitian dad smell. But like as I'm getting older, I'm like, dang, I should have taken them, bro.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh, what do we start with this week here?
SPEAKER_04So um, one topic, because like I have a very nerdy um sneaker algorithm. It's you my algorithm is literally just like Marvel superhero shit, sneakers, and now French Bulldogs. Um the P the PG algorithm, right? Yeah. I'm not with you heathens in our group chat.
SPEAKER_01The safe work.
SPEAKER_00I love when a nigga get married and forget the like he took the dog uniform off.
SPEAKER_03He's a new man.
SPEAKER_00Like I had a man just like the new baptism.
SPEAKER_03Like he got washed off overnight.
SPEAKER_04But uh honestly, like speaking of retros, um, uh topic that's been coming up is that um my my my my phone was blowing up because I don't know if you guys heard, like, you guys know what the fire red four looks like, the white and red uh Jordan 4. It's coming out again next year, and like everybody was like kind of like annoyed because Nido Sylvester dropped his uh brick by bricks or brick after brick is called that looks like a fire red four. And um, on top of that, laser fours are coming out next year, the white and red joints, and now they say they're dropping fire red fours. So pretty much like four sneakers that all look the same has been coming out in the span of like two years. And the last time Fire Red Fours dropped was in 20, like 2021. I still have that pair, my pair is still clean, not trying to flex or anything. Flex. So the conversation is is like, do you think that certain sneakers are coming back uh to the public a little too soon?
SPEAKER_03I can agree with that. I'm cool with it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, let them go on. Let them go on sale. I don't care. Speaking of red fours, I seen the um toro, was it Toro? Toro 4s, yeah, those are sitting too. I seen those 140. I was good. I need I gotta I gotta I gotta look around because I need a pair of those. No more standing in lines, no more sneakers up and throwing your phone across the room. I'm I'm happy with it. Because that was a phase. Camping, all that. Keep raising the price, Nike, if you listen. Good. Help us out.
SPEAKER_00What do you think, uh for me, I I think it's a good and bad thing. You know, I always gotta stay in the middle. I think the beautiful thing is the new kid or the the the younger kids get to kind of feel the nostalgic feeling that we felt buying sneakers, even though the market is different, the times are different. Um, but the bad thing is you devaluing something that was at one point, like a grail or a collectible item. Uh I don't like when something is too accessible, then it becomes cheap. But at the same time, like you gotta reintroduce every generation to greatness or to something that they might know. That's why that's how companies stay around for a long time. So uh for me uh it's cool. Uh it kind of goes into a conversation we're gonna have about Nike, whether they're falling off or not. But um but I mean it's a flex that Nike can go in the vault and say, Oh, all right, the streets is the streets is cold, y'all think we cold, you know, uh undefeated. Let's pull this out. Tokyo Fives. And so I think it's a flex to even have that. Why are they still sitting on Air Mags and Yeezys and all that stuff? So Nike got a crazy catalog, and they they used to be the big dog. They're still a dominant force in the sneaker community. I always think it's always cool to flex your muscles every once in a while.
SPEAKER_04Like, all right, y'all niggas is cool, but I'm still see what me is not to sound like the grumpy old sneaker head, but it's like it's kind of annoying to me, just a little bit. Because I'm not trying to say I'm trying to gatekeep or anything. It's like I think it's just when you bring back a shoe a little too soon, like two to three years, it kind of is just spitting in the face of actual collectors. That's just my personal opinion. I'm not saying that like I'm mad at like, oh, when you bring a shoe back, like you guys know what like the undefeated four looks like. I'm not mad at something like that, because only like 50 pairs existed ever. So when you bring it back out, that makes sense. But when a shoe that came out two to three years ago, it's like yo, my pair is still dead stock. And it's not that like people say, Oh, you should wear your shoes. I'm wearing my shoes, I just like to collect my sneakers for sure. Okay, that's that's just my own take on.
SPEAKER_00This little thing of ours or some mob shit.
SPEAKER_04Oh, let's keep the circle. And I have to add one more thing. Nike, you guys, your bag is so deep, you don't have to keep bringing out the same shit. Yeah, it's true. That part, you gotta be. That's the moneymaker, though.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, exactly. Like, let's get the bread out the butter, man. Let's get it right to the butt.
SPEAKER_04And honestly, like recession indicator, like you guys like heard the news that um Killian Mbappe, one of the world's biggest soccer players, World Cup winner, one of the probably the most famous and best strikers in soccer today, is literally leaving. A black man. A black man.
SPEAKER_00Let's highlight that.
SPEAKER_04You know, think he's biracial, but he's still a black man.
SPEAKER_01I'm biracial.
SPEAKER_00The dominant side is black. That's a nigga.
SPEAKER_04Let's be honest. He looked like one of us. He's one of us, yes. But um, yeah, he learned rumor has it that Nike, Nike's announcing that they dropped him, but to be honest, who's dropping him?
SPEAKER_00The departed ways were the professional terms, exactly.
SPEAKER_04And he's going to on sneakers, which is on cloud. Like, if you don't know what an on cloud looks like, we live in Palm Beach, go to Del Rey, go to any middle-aged white man has on a pair of on clouds. Okay. But you gotta go during the middle. Yes, yeah, the good yeah, good observation. That is true. You don't see him at night, but that's a good observation. That's a scary good observation.
SPEAKER_01This is easier to see clouds at night.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. But so, like, do you guys think that, like, do you think Nike is losing his juice, or like, it's just other brands are just becoming more popular? Like, what's your take on like the whole thing as far as either Mbappe leaving, or is just is Nike losing their juice?
SPEAKER_02I think um I think Nike knows who they are, and I think Nike has like a group of people who's like, we not bending. Yeah? Like fuck nothing.
SPEAKER_00And they might have a budget for athletes. You know what I mean? We're not going over, we got LeBron already, we got the top.
SPEAKER_02We got we're still surviving off Kobe's aluminum. You know what I'm saying? So I think like the other brands, that part. I think the other brands, they just trying to kick down the door, so they're willing to give anything. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03I think catch up.
SPEAKER_01I think that like the culture has shifted, like, and then low-key like economics has shifted to where it's like when people had the extra money to like, oh, I'm finna go, like you say, you're a collector, so a lot of times you'll have to spend a little extra cheese to get those shoes that they didn't just re-put back out. And because of that shift, the people I guess aren't willing to spend on to just like the coolness of like the shoes, and they're like, I'm gonna just get like the on clouds, they're probably I don't know how much they are, but it's like I assume for the most part they're probably less. Or am I wrong?
SPEAKER_04Probably like 100, 120, no more than 160 for sure.
SPEAKER_01So they're like less, and then then you're like, oh, you know, you see old white people, and they're like, yeah, they're the people that will literally like that's their market. It's like I'm just gonna buy the economical thing that makes sense. And then a lot of people are just kind of forced into that. So then it's like the thing that they stood on, which was like the coolness, and it's like everybody when everybody has the extra stuff to just ball out, then it's easier to do that, and it's more like respected, or not respected isn't the word I want to use, but it's just more sought after, versus now where it's like people talking about groceries and stuff like that. It's too spots where it's like, yo, I gotta do what I gotta do. Like the shoes gotta wait.
SPEAKER_00I'm sorry, but I mean, to your point, um, he spent 10 years with Nike. I feel like as you growing up, just like we were we saw Nike in a certain light, you know, we just most niggas just wanted a collab. They just wanted a shoe that existed, but they wanted their own colors. Then niggas realized, oh, we can have our own silhouette. And then, you know, people started getting deals, lifetime deals. But I feel like it comes to a point, especially in Mbappe's life, I'm wealthy. I got the money already. I don't need Nike's cosign. I'm not a new athlete that's coming up in the scene. I want more. And I want to do what's best for my brand, my personal brand, and my future, and the legacy that I want to leave behind. And what's more what's more important in that than equity, than having a piece or a share in a brand. You get when I'm having having some stock options. So if I spent 10 years somewhere, they I'm pretty sure I I I got what I was supposed to get, especially as a black man. Because there's a unfortunately, there's a ceiling for us.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and I and I hate to say that, but saying it though.
SPEAKER_00But it it's it's also good to know when to walk away, which I applaud him for doing, and do what's best for you. You don't need the money. If they're willing to pay you $500,000 a year, and you can get some stocks that over the course of the next 10 years that could give you five million or ten million, I'll take that, especially if I'm not struggling for the money. So I I think it's a smart business move, and I applaud them for having the guts to do it. And I think more athletes are gonna probably start following. Because a lot of young niggas are getting NIL deals. I'm getting money off in college. So when I come in the league, I'm bagged up already. So I don't need that Adidas or Nike.
SPEAKER_03You can't press me. Exactly. Correct.
SPEAKER_01It's always good to be in that position though, like where you don't because when you're on like leverage, yeah, when you're not back against the wall, like I have to, I have to do this, like this gotta da-da-da-da. Then you can exactly you can make it.
SPEAKER_04And I have to mention too, is that like, yo, Nike, especially with just Jordan, just Jordans in general, I'm 29 years old. I don't have any memory of seeing Michael Jordan play, even on the Wizards. And I'm 29. So how do you get it? How are you gonna persuade a 19-year-old to buy a pair of Jordans? How you gonna persuade a nine-year-old to buy a pair of Jordans? Like, I'm sorry, but when you make a shoe that, like, oh, the take flight Jordans, this is the jacket he wore on SNL. Nigga, I don't know that. Nobody cares. Why do I care about that? Yeah, and that's like I love Jordans, but it's like it's hard to sell that to these kids. These kids want to wear Vans, Converse, uh, Pradesh like they going, they going top shit. What's the other ones? Big places, Lambas, Lambins, yeah, yeah. It's true.
SPEAKER_01It's it's like even when you talk about like culture like a Nike falling off, like the fact that I feel like music is a big part of our culture and what they talk about in music. And it's like when we was growing up, everybody was rapping about Jays. Yes, nobody raps about Jays anymore.
SPEAKER_04Playbook already love talking about Rick Owens, right?
SPEAKER_01It's all designer. Exactly.
SPEAKER_00Literally, I blame the Migos for that too. Since they they're not the first rapper to be wearing Versace, because obviously Tupac actually walked down the runway for Versace back in his day. Yeah, but they kind of they from Atlanta, they took like the fucking like the luxury rap to a different level.
SPEAKER_03They did, especially with the shoes, especially.
SPEAKER_00Especially with shoes, uh, just clothes and stuff. Like I remember rappers was going crazy with brands every Two chains was on that wave.
SPEAKER_03Like on there, though. I hear that. Migos, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Migos is on there for sure. The last thing we were going to talk about when it comes to sneaker, Nike, is the converse controversy. That is true. That's one of the reasons why I was excited to come today to talk about because me and Gary rarely agree on one thing. And before we come here to record, we always have a three-hour conversation for at least two days.
SPEAKER_04I'm going to say that's not a person. Because when we agree, we tend to have a pod outside of the pod. If we don't bring it to the podcast. We give the wrong opinion off camera. And it's so raw that it's like, yeah, we shouldn't talk about that on camera.
SPEAKER_03We shouldn't have filmed it. We should have just cut the camera on and kept going.
SPEAKER_00But uh Nike, well no, Converse posted, which is part of Nike's family. Uh they posted a controversial photo with a young lady with a skirt holding a pair of Converse or Chuck Taylor's, the high top ones by the neck of the shoe. Like they pretty much they tie the lace. Holding on the top of the shoe.
SPEAKER_01Neck is a crazy word considering.
SPEAKER_04And there's a star beaming light like on the on the woman as well. I personally think we all seen the picture. Yeah, right.
SPEAKER_00And we're gonna put the picture on the screen so you guys can see what we're referencing. But to me, it's classic outrage marketing. I didn't initially, when I saw the pick, I didn't think anything of it. Because I'm like, oh, they're highlighting the shoe. Because trucks have been making a comeback, especially when a bunch of brands are stealing their silhouette and they're pricing it out the wise. We've seen that with CDG, we've seen that with uh uh the Rick Owens, the the the bottega joints that even the product are coming like low top sneakers is in classics are coming back and rockstar fashion is low-key back as well.
SPEAKER_04Correct.
SPEAKER_00So to me, it could be looked at two ways, but again, emotionally, people that are not emotionally intelligent, when they see something that pisses them off, they take to the internet to have an opinion. You know, I I call them the keyboard lawyers, like you know, they're the people the couch coaches that they always find something that they have no accomplishments, they have no say, no weight, they don't have anything that they created, but they have an opinion about everything. Yeah, so uh correct. So instead of holding Converse accountable or even asking the question or giving them a reason to speak or to make a statement, black people all over the socials were upset. How do you guys you can't? Not even just black people, just people in general. People in general, but predominantly black people were upset.
SPEAKER_01I can agree with that.
SPEAKER_00Uh but how what what's y'all take away from the black people too sensitive, man?
SPEAKER_03We're getting a little too sensitive and thinking it's target to it. They're not gonna lie. It's like you see that and then you just flash without really, like you say, asking the questions, bro. And we gotta be more emotional in tune to ask questions. You think it's trauma or just yeah, we we we so tired of every single thing that's been going on for so long, people just fed up. So as soon as they see something, they react. It's a trigger. Yeah, it's a trigger. So I think if we just kind of uh regulate them emotions, kind of calm down, try to do our you feel me, do our research, and then we can snap. And then if we're gonna snap another thing, make change with that snap. Just not talking. Stand on it, keep stand on it. So that's my that's my word to the people.
SPEAKER_00What about you, Tia? What you think?
SPEAKER_02Um, I feel like even if it is what people are painting it out to be, I feel like our voice is our resource and we we can't be just wasting it on anything. Ain't nobody worried about no damn converse, bro. Like, you know what I'm saying? Not like that anyway. Yeah, ain't nobody worried about no damn converse. That anger and that energy and your voice, we got more important things to use it for, like Nolan Wells. You feel me? Like Thank you. You feel me?
SPEAKER_03Like make some noise, yeah.
SPEAKER_02You just trying to ask. We trying to get something. You feel me? Like, you just creating a new case. We got a case we ain't finished. You get what I'm saying? So, and my opinion towards the picture, they're using a star spotlight, and it just reflected in that angle, it shot the top part of the star up. So if you're trying to like say that's a representing a KKK hat, like, come on.
SPEAKER_04Like, there's legit people getting hanged today. Like, let's worry about the people talking about King's.
SPEAKER_02Ain't nobody wearing about damn Converse. You feel me? And I'm pretty sure our people are not like mass consumers of like Converse. Not Market A, of course. Yeah, right. You feel me? We got respect for Converse, you feel me? Because that's what we was wearing like coming up as kids and stuff like that. But ain't nobody really spending more Converse, man. Shift to something else.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's definitely not what it used to be for sure. Do do the same way that we speak on the Converse ad, do we feel the same way about the target ad with the costume? Is that like the same thing where it's like, are we reading too deep? Or do you think that's valid?
SPEAKER_04I think the target one was a little bit more valid. That was a little too much on the nose. Like, there was somebody in that marketing room that did their research, it's like, you know what? How can people get talking about us again? And it's like let's do it. And it worked.
SPEAKER_01I think it's the same thing both times. Really? Rage bait. I think it's they knew the reaction that it would get, and then they did it, and then it did what it did. Like, we're here talking about how Nike fell off, and Converse is a part of Nike, and they put out this ad, a bunch of people are mad, and now they're talking about it again. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_04And magically the two-time MBM um MVP is like leaving Converse and going to Nike. So Right.
SPEAKER_00To me, is um just I I I completely love how in unison we are about this topic, uh, because I feel like our anger is usually misdirected into things that don't matter. And another thing, um, I I I think that um the thing that the black community lacks is economic power. So we're we're one of the biggest group of people that spend money, but we don't spend money on our own shit. Right. You get what I'm saying? Like Italians spend money with Italians. You know, Chinese people hire each other, they build a whole block of them, you know, they they grow their business, they do their thing. Latinos stick together. I'm not saying, again, before black people start attacking me, I'm not if if you if you out here working, collaborating with people, I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about the majority, not the minority, not the exception. We don't stick together. We don't stand on nothing. You feel me? We always out for self. And if we were to put ourselves together and put our money together, like a group that I won't mention, and that we all know who I'm talking about, then real changes can be made. Because if you talk about that demographic of people, shit stop in real time. You see what they did to Kanye for a little bit. For sure, man.
SPEAKER_01So again, we gotta talk about Converses.
SPEAKER_00It's like the shit that we need to be standing on and talk about, we don't talk about it. You feel me? Niggas are still shopping at Target, niggas are still doing what they want to do. So until we can be unified, then we have no leg to stand.
SPEAKER_02Some way about the Converse ad, just don't spend no money.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, don't spend no money. And if you don't like your Nikes anymore, because Nike e Converse is a part of Nike, let me know where you'll be throwing away some easy. If you don't want your Nikes anymore, you know, I'll DM you my size. Get rid of your Nikes. I'll do it.
SPEAKER_02Whatever you got, you don't want to be on bar.
SPEAKER_00Alright. Uh, we would have attacked the gambling shit. Okay. So Lord. He went to sleep early for this topic. Oh Lord. This is possibly my favorite topic for today. Uh, I'm super passionate about this one because I'm sick and tired of, like I said, the the them keyboard lawyers, right? So there's this dude that I follow. He's he's he's a smart brother, he's very educated, he's a podcaster, Deontay Kyle. I don't know if you guys know who he is. I know exactly who Deontay Kyle is. Chris and X podcast. He was just on Breakfast Club.
SPEAKER_01He was on Breakfast Club. He's amazing.
SPEAKER_00He's very smart, yeah, he's educated. My only problem, not even problem. I think my only my only gripe. Gripe. Thank you, sir. My only gripe with him is I think when he talks, he talks from an idealistic perspective. Like black people, we could be this, we could do that. The world could be this way, things could be different. We need to do better in this department. Uh, the one thing that I don't see him highlight, and if he does, if you guys are his fans or if he ever sees this, please educate me. Again, this is not an attack. Yeah. Show me where those systems are working. Because nobody likes capitalism. Everybody wants to live live in a socialist society where everybody gets treated equally, there's no ultra-rich, everybody gets those same opportunities. Show me countries that elicit that type of model so we can all move there and start a life there. It's like, it's one thing to talk about the future to inspire change or to inspire the next generation to move different. But I just feel like I'm and I hate when the church did it. It's like, no disrespect to yeah, I'm a Christian, but black people were tired of just being finessed with hope. I don't like when people are selling us hope and we buying it because it's coming from somebody that's smart, and you sound, you sound like you're right, but you have no proof of concept of where this shit is happening. It's like, don't finesse my people with hope. Don't finesse them to sell a ticket, to sell your show, to sell yourself, and then you get rich, we stay in the same position, and then we're like, oh well, at least he's one of the people that's willing to.
SPEAKER_02I just don't know. I seen him uh I think it was yesterday. I seen him with uh Big Man on the perspectives. Um just I just seen a little clip. And I guess one of the countries that he was talking about was Japan. Pretty much they support each other, and you know, us being like a mixed country, we're not really supporting each other because there's too many different types of people here. Common sense. But I guess they're saying Japan could be the place.
SPEAKER_04You know, can I can I just say the obvious that no one will say I just can't stand we should do this as niggas?
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_04I'll I'll say it. Yeah, I'll say it. Like I said, I appreciate that he sheds light on it, but one one thing I like one of the many things I respect about y'all is that I will see y'all in the trenches, you will see you at a food drive supporting nonprofits, which I love. Giving back, doing things in real time.
SPEAKER_00So when y'all stand there and say we're doing this event, people show up, it's because they know y'all, y'all gonna be there, y'all consistent with y'all messaging. But I hate niggas. Show me how many it there's actionable items that you need to do. Yeah, show me how many companies that you you you you you donate to this month. Show me how many families you help. Show me how many people you feeding. Don't tell me what to don't tell me what to do with my money. Let me see what you're doing with yours. Be the example that you want to see. I agree with you. And my thing is with him, again, brilliant. I have no problem against him. But it's just some of the messaging, especially with gambling. He, I think one of the things that literally like was the fucking thing in my back, this nigga was blaming people like Joe Bud and LeBron for promoting polymarket and the gambling, uh, like the DraftKings and the prize picks of the world. And I'm like, why are you blaming the like why are you targeting the people and not the machines?
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00These niggas are doing this shit for a bag. I don't picture LeBron after a long day of practice gambling in his house, in his multi-million dollar house.
SPEAKER_01Now, Drake, he might, after he leaves the studio, he might, you know. He's not good with house money.
SPEAKER_00He's not giving it away. Drake is not gonna bitches. He's not which is a good text right now, by the way.
SPEAKER_04No one talking about that. Giving up his house money, man.
SPEAKER_02And notice how Drake always picked the losing team though.
SPEAKER_00Of course, bro. Again, people don't understand how this social media market shit works. So it's like my last thing is, right? I think it's like, and I'm telling this to anybody that's watching this as a young nigga, if you have $30 in your pocket, why are you worrying about a parlay and not gas in your car?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00If your light bill is due, why are you worrying about Jordans instead of you get what I'm saying? Like, it's just like we have to take an accountability as people. Like, I shouldn't, we we black the black community. One of my gripes with us is we look at celebrities like social and community activists.
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00Like, no, LeBron is a basketball player. I enjoy watching him when he's playing. Right.
SPEAKER_01I don't care about it.
SPEAKER_02That's it. Exactly. Imagine you with that bag. That's it.
SPEAKER_04Exactly. And we brought it up, we like we had we talked about this last episode about like people were mad at the baby for like opening up a restaurant with a $45 waffle. Like, bro, that's black entrepreneurship. Meanwhile, y'all taking that $45 to freaking put on prize picks. It's like, come on, you're gonna make your medals. That's what we have. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03You stick your medals and stick. I agree with that. I agree with that.
SPEAKER_00It's it's a thing of priority, and again, it's not a knock at Deontay Kyle. You know, I enjoy watching him. Like, he, you know, it's again, with doing this shit, one of the P I look up to the three P's. Pastors, politicians, and pimps. Because they have the gift of God. I don't co-sign that list. No, no, you don't have to co-sign it. These three P's have the gift of God. If you listen to that, bro, if you listen, bro, no, keep cooking. Go ahead. If you listen to a pastor for three hours, and I'm not talking about the good ones that are really doing God's work. If you, even a bad pastor, if you listen to him long enough, he will make you do something. You feel me? Pip.
SPEAKER_01Stop getting the pain.
SPEAKER_02Close the door. Close the door.
SPEAKER_00Politicians will come to your community. You've never seen this nigga in the hood. He's campaigning. Now all of a sudden he's in front of the Chick-fil-A in the hood. That nigga don't live here.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03We're not lying, bro. We're not lying. That's how the game goes, bro.
SPEAKER_00That's how the game goes. If you pay attention to politicians, pimps, and pastors, I'm telling you, these three Ps, they have the mouthpiece. Yeah. You gotta be careful who you follow. Again, words mean things and people can lead you to good things or bad things. I agree with that. You know, I love what you said though.
SPEAKER_01But it really, it really does go back to what you're saying about like people being like more tight-knit in the community and not looking up to celebrities and everything for stuff. Because it's a lot of, I don't know, people be like, oh, be kids, kids be raising kids. And it's like people be young or whatever, and it's like people be impressionable, like teenagers. Like when you were like 14, 15, and it's like we look up to LeBron. If LeBron was saying whatever, da-da-da-da-da. You're like 14, 15, you probably finna like, you know what I'm saying, go for a little bit. If you don't have that older person to be like, look, yeah, like they play basketball. You want to play basketball, look up to them for basketball. But like that guidance is the real thing that we need to lock in on as a community.
SPEAKER_04Can I shed some light on somebody? Like, there, I know there's some there's some like celebrities that we shouldn't be mad at and stuff, but it's like one person, I'm gonna say I'm mad at him, but I just want to call it out there. I see it. Jay-Z.
SPEAKER_05My thing is with Jay-Z, Jay-Z is on.
SPEAKER_04I know people are gonna be, oh, watch out, Gary, watch out. All I'm saying with Jay-Z is that like Jay-Z is an entrepreneur. I love what he does. It's just Jay-Z, you a hustler at the end of the day. Yeah. My thing is with Jay-Z, he will literally promote something, tell everybody black, put your money to it, buy it, and then sell it. Literally, it's the same pattern.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I can't be mad at him because they all do it. That's the shit that bothers me sometimes. And no one calls it out. I see the play though. As a man, I see the play, but that's why for me, it's like I look up to Jay-Z when it comes to music, but not to like, okay, but he's Jay-Z. He's been rich and disciplined.
SPEAKER_02Because that's why he gets to do what he does. Because he's all he already got his foot out the music game. You know what I'm saying? And he already knows everything that came from rap is validated. So it's like, nah, I could do whatever I want.
SPEAKER_00Because he has the culture, you know what I mean.
SPEAKER_02Like, you talking about Jay-Z?
SPEAKER_00You bet you got that's what people think are like what you talking about. They get emotional because they connect with the music, not the man. They don't know the man. I don't think Jay-Z has the same group of friends since he started, which I love that that guys have that core group of friends that they grow with, but he keeps his circle closed for a reason. Like, so it's like, bro, you're never gonna really hear what his true motive is. You're not gonna, you're not gonna get any thinking of a true billionaire. He's looking out for himself and his lineage and his legacy. This nigga thinking about generations ahead.
SPEAKER_04And I think like a good segue from this is like, because sometimes I would say like Jay-Z be selling out here and there. So like I kind of want to go into like a sellout conversation. So like I don't know if you guys are aware of like uh the Kai Sanat thing that's been going on.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah, with the whole with Reggie and stuff.
SPEAKER_04I'm out of the loop. I've seen it a little bit, but I ain't really Reggie's like crashing out. He's pretty much like that. It's like it's a bunch of these, like these young streamers. Shouts to all them, all these black guys. Those are the real influences. That's the tall. Nah, he's a short one. He's a short one. It's like Reggie?
SPEAKER_01Or who's who?
SPEAKER_04Reggie's short. He's kind of tall.
SPEAKER_01None of them are. I mean, like really tall.
SPEAKER_04Pretty much is like I think I know you're probably talking about Duke Dennis, I think. No, not Duke Dennis. Not Duke Dennis. But he got a low cut.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he got a low cut.
SPEAKER_04Not the short, dark skinned one. Reggie don't got a low cut.
SPEAKER_01No. Reggie does it.
SPEAKER_04But yeah, but my bad. It's good. Like he's a popular streamer. Like, I I've known him from watching Kai Sonat pretty much. So like Reggie, like, no one really knows the true root of all of this. Is like Reggie has been crashing out for like five days, and he's like, he's saying some a lot of putting a lot of heavy allegations on a lot of people, like saying Kai Sonat is a PDF, saying Ty Lil is on the down low. And even during his crash out, he's actually pouring out Yeah, that's Reggie. No, he's actually pouring out some of his own traumas that he actually went through with, like, apparently he was like essayed by his older brother. So it's like it is very clear that like, and I hate that I have to put this in there, it's like he has promoted doing substances in the past.
SPEAKER_01He talks about it in the crash outs. Exactly. I'm on XSS right now, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_04So yeah, so it's very clear that like he's not in a good spot right now. So as he's crashing out, he's throwing a lot of allegations on like on Kai Sonat. And my thing is with this, is that like I'm not gonna fully say that everything he's saying is not true because I don't know the situation, I don't know those two dudes, but it's like I just think it's like kind of like isn't just a crazy coincidence that you pull all this shit out on Kaiser Not the fact that like he just hit a different milestone, he's doing a freaking movie with Kevin Hart and Drewski, right? So it's like I just hate the fact about all this. So I'm gonna let you guys chime in. It's just my just take on everything is like, why is it when like a nigga get money? And they always gonna loot to oh, you sold, you sold, you suckin' dick. It's like why does it always come between us? And it's no in-between. It's sucking soul. I get it, I get it.
SPEAKER_03There's no in between. Some people might do it, but he not lying, bro. Like, you can't be rich and not saying you done gave up something, bro. That's what I'm saying.
SPEAKER_04And I guarantee you, I'm not trying to like trade off some at some point. Bro, Juicy just got got cover of freaking of a time. So it's like, I'm pretty sure that someone out the woodworks be like, oh, the did this and that. So like, what's your take on all of this?
SPEAKER_01I mean, I feel like a lot, like, as far as like going straight to Z, like we were saying, like, I feel like it's a lot of hateration. Yes, it's like people being like, there's there's no way this guy, why him? Like, people watch like I don't I I don't I don't like watch streamers, but I see the clips when I'm scrolling. And most people who have no connection to like the online world will look at these people and be like, why do people even watch these people? Like, what's even entertaining about this or that? Because they don't get it, they don't understand. And then they just jump straight to like the mythical or the the the conspiracy. Because they do the like it's funny because we were just talking about Jay-Z, and it's like that's definitely a thing people like, oh yeah, they gotta be in the Illuminati.
SPEAKER_04Like, Jay-Z's been the Illuminati for 20 years, apparently.
SPEAKER_01Like, that's what I mean. Like, that's what it is. Like, people hate it.
SPEAKER_04Fuck the hard work, fuck all the cards, man.
SPEAKER_01Like, it's fuck all the core. Supernatural, bro. Like your rapture. It could have been him, bro. How he get Beyonce, bro.
SPEAKER_03Look at him. Well, motherfuckers, when I make it, I don't care what y'all say. So soul, Lanother, keep them M's coming in. Yeah, I don't give a fuck. Yeah, like I don't care. But I think um, I mean, you do hear it about other cultures, don't get it twisted, but it's just a black community, bro. It's another way to discredit you, yeah, uh, tear you down. Um, the accusations, all of that, that definitely was off the wall. Definitely horrible timing. Not saying what's right the time, but for if you're costing that, yeah. Like, oh, I'm trying to do this. So I see them all going. Going back and forth trying to clear the air, but it's like, bro.
SPEAKER_00He don't gotta publish his I wouldn't even respond at all.
SPEAKER_03Right. Honestly.
SPEAKER_00I'll sit back.
SPEAKER_03Oh, he's his lawyer. He's like, oh, I am suing you, bro. But see, I would I wouldn't say that. I would say that you almost called him a dickhead on that bitch. He's about to say it. He's just about to say it.
SPEAKER_01I think they're just like so because they stream, like everything about everything is like online. It should be addressed. It has to be not even that it has to be addressed, it's just like this is just another opportunity for me to get clicks on this. Like, even if this is that or that or the thing, I don't believe in it.
SPEAKER_00I I don't think everything needs to be said online or like that's how them boys pay their bills, though. Like they like when you think about like, yeah, like I get it, I get the point why they do it, but to me, it's like there has to be a level of maturity. Like, this is beyond me now. You just call me this. I'm not even a person anymore. I'm a brand. I'm a business. I'm gonna let the lawyers handle it. Because if I handle it, it just gets worse. I'm gonna I'm gonna do something I have no business doing, it could cost me everything. That's true. So I'm not even gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_04And I have to state it like this because like we don't know who watches this. Like, if you're homosexual, there's nothing wrong with that. But I just have to put it out there. I have to put it out there. If you put in like homosexual allegations on someone who's heterosexual and he's saying that that heterosexual person is doing such and such to get to where he's at, it's disrespectful. Can we just call it spade as fake?
SPEAKER_01It is, it is nah.
SPEAKER_04That's real. That's what I'm saying. Do what you want to do, but it's like it's if you know someone don't do that, is not known for that. Come on, bro.
SPEAKER_01I think a lot of you raise reading for that.
SPEAKER_02I feel like, I mean, I'm not no like street nigga or nothing like that. You feel me? But I feel like people think only rating, like ratting is only like when you're talking to like law enforcement or stuff like that. That's like kind of snitching, bro. Like if they if what you're saying is true. And if you're gonna bring out those allegations and accusations, why not just bring out the proof too, bro?
SPEAKER_01Think that too.
SPEAKER_00I think a lot of people always have the big joker coming. You get what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02Like, if you're gonna do some like snake shit, just go all the way, bro. Crash out. You just crash out completely, bro. Completely. Like, why are you doing that? Exactly. Attention.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, just but then it gets weird when it's you look at the dynamics of their whole crew and how they got together and who came up with who, and all of that stuff, and then it's like then they on, and now he's the one that looked like he fell off, so now he's mad because he's not he ain't in the clique no more. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_03But they a bunch of kids at the end of the day, they too. That's that's a big part of the thing.
SPEAKER_02I think I think like, and credit to them, successful, but they ran into the money. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, at a very young age, too. Premature too. They didn't even know what it felt like to build a friendship, you know what I mean? Build that relationship. They done they skip the whole damn step. Oh, these are my friends.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's the thing. Without even learning each other, yeah. You gotta be stop using that friend word loosely. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_00You have to go through certain shit with your niggas to really solidify.
SPEAKER_02Every time, every time they see each other's parents, they you know what I'm saying? Like, they don't even barely know who they is.
SPEAKER_04Like, no, they just think I just hate that some people think that freaking that every person with a stripe on is the devil. It could be a white man in a suit too. With a contract.
SPEAKER_00Well, speaking of friendship, I'm glad that to have you guys here. I appreciate it. Uh we had a couple questions uh to ask y'all to get to know y'all a little bit so we can introduce you guys to our audience and so the city and beyond can know what what you guys are about and what you guys do. So uh obviously I have I I watch I watch you guys' show, I follow you guys, so I know some of the things you guys are doing in the community. But what what role do each of you guys play in in this uh collective?
SPEAKER_03Nah, you go first.
SPEAKER_01Well, I I pretty much do most of the production side of it. Okay, so like filming and like doing graphics and things like that. I don't do everything, but I do a lot of people.
SPEAKER_02He's trying to be humble. That's a visual. He do everything visually, he do everything.
SPEAKER_03Edit all trying to be humble.
SPEAKER_00That's what's up. Okay.
SPEAKER_03What else you do? What else is your role?
unknownWhat?
SPEAKER_00Are you part of any he's the owner?
SPEAKER_01He's the I of I think we're all part owners, but that is my own. Did you know that introduction? We're all part owners. This is my role in the ownership. There we go. I like what's it?
SPEAKER_00I like that. Clarification. There we go. What about you, Joe?
SPEAKER_03Man, Mr. CEO. Oh everything, bro. You feel me? Setting up meetings, writing scripts, uh, making contact along with everybody else, setting up the event, trying to keep us above water, like everybody else. But um the main thing is, bro, we just trying to create a huge platform for people to tell their story. That's really it, bro. Just working together, building in, creating a powerhouse, something like McDonald's. You'll see us everywhere. That part.
SPEAKER_02Uh, I like to say I'm the the chief of everything that's not executive.
SPEAKER_00Chief operating officer.
SPEAKER_02Chief operating, chief uh financial. Okay. You feel me? Like all of the above. Uh chief uh what's the other ones? CFO. CFO. Chief Financial Officer, C O O. All the defense of the E. That's not CEO.
SPEAKER_04Isn't it such a coincidence that like every person like with the glasses always looks at the financial stringer bell, like everyone?
SPEAKER_01Walking for a job in finance and don't have glasses on your school.
SPEAKER_02A lot of times we feel me, we're using our uh day job money. Oh wait, oh boy, they don't know about that really. Yeah, every dollar matters. So yeah, every dollar matters. We on top of that. But um, yeah, pretty much like like I said earlier, Phil Jackson. Like I assist with calling plays, making decisions, um, you know, getting a scope of like what the social media looks like, and pretty much that.
SPEAKER_00And for the people that don't know, these guys are organizing things for the community, like giveaways, they're raising money for causes, they're supporting people, they're throwing adult field days, they're they're doing galas, they're doing award shows, they're giving back, highlighting people.
SPEAKER_04Promoting black excellence.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so so what what's next for y'all? What's what's the next big thing you guys are working on? Uh what can you share? Uh what's and what's coming in the next few years for you guys?
SPEAKER_02We need everything to amplify.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02So we're just growing right now. Yeah, we need everything to amplify. I think we're doing a lot of the right things. Um of course, like branching out too.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, out outside.
SPEAKER_02We got like the mindset that we we never know too much. So we always learning, we always soaking in information, and we just want to expand. We want to create, like, I like to say, like a web. Like kind of like a spider web. You feel me? We want to keep expanding. You see that spider keep going around in that circle. You feel me? That's us. We're trying to make it expand.
SPEAKER_03I'm the delusional one. Oh my god. I'm the delusional one.
SPEAKER_00That's that's that's that's me when it comes to our dynamic, because I'm the dreamer, I'm the let's do everything. So, in our in our click, just to give you guys a quick uh idea, my philosophy is let's try everything. Something is bound to work. Gary is more like, let's do one thing well. Hopefully that one thing works. But my my thing is, but see, my thing is that's totally not hey, my man, I didn't even control.
SPEAKER_02No, you can't. I swear when we start this interview, I said, boy, they kind of similar, boy. No, trust me, I'm seeing a lot of similarity. Too straightforward, bro.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but for me, it's like, yo, while we're young, we're able-bodied. Yeah, let's do everything. Because I don't want to live with any regret, and I don't want to look back and say, damn, we should have. No, let's do it. You know, if we fail, we learn from it, we got more knowledge. We can try it again, or we can try some, we can pivot. But I don't want to look back when I'm 60 and be like, Almost because I think regret breeds resentment. Real resentment turns you into a hater. Yeah. So now you're looking around like, damn, this nigga told my that.
SPEAKER_01This nigga took my no jaded in life.
SPEAKER_00You don't want to do that, but I do agree. Like, we meet each other halfway. Like, yeah, it's about to be a good one. I think big.
SPEAKER_04Gary is like, you know what? Let's put it in the plan.
SPEAKER_00Let's write it down. Let's do it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, I need to um honestly, one of my goals for 2027, I'm saying this on camera, I kind of need to loosen up a little bit more because like um, I'm not gonna say who, but like some members in our um in our crew came with some company and they said, Sorry we're late, Gary. And I'm like, I dare watch it. The person in our crew didn't even say sorry late. The person that came with said, sorry we're late, Gary. Yeah, so they're like, yeah, don't piss him off. That's not true.
SPEAKER_03I need to loosen up a little bit. Sorry, man. Somebody has to be like that. Yes. Somebody has to be like that.
SPEAKER_02So I'm the third element, which is what y'all don't have. I'm the person in the in the uh the dreamer's ear, like, fucking do it.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, I put the battery in my I'm already cool with the brain.
SPEAKER_02Like, I have a lot of people that think that they're in your position in our crew. Oh, that's true. That's true. Luckily, like like we said, I'm a third owner, so I could be in his ear, like, hey, fuck it, let's go. Crash out. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Because you know the part is because people be putting the battery in his back so much. Motherfucker, you don't do shit. Honestly, yeah. That's true. He's lazy, no.
SPEAKER_00But Gary deals.
SPEAKER_04We know how to even on my side, I'd be like, motherfucker, you don't do shit. Even the people that be in my respectful people. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because you know, I I think it's it it's any relationship, you know your partner and they know you. So I know how to push him. He knows how to push me, and he knows what I'll go for and what he will go for. But it I'm glad that every click has that.
SPEAKER_01So you need that balance. Checks and balances. That part.
SPEAKER_00What are some misconceptions about y'all? Like, I know you guys don't get super personal. You guys are uh uh you guys present a certain way on social media. Uh so what are some some things that you've heard about y'all selves? Don't call me slipping with that.
SPEAKER_03Shit, I'm about to hit bang. Oh, go ahead.
SPEAKER_00Be honest, like y'all can cuss, y'all can be yourselves, y'all can open up.
SPEAKER_03Uh that we got favoritism, man. Ain't no favoritism on our end, man. You feel me? Um, anybody who you've seen win an award, anybody who you seen work with, they deserved it and they put the effort into making something come to come to life. You feel me? So anybody who won an award, let me say this on camera, they won that shit. They fucking sell. They think I done heard what's going on.
SPEAKER_04They're gonna pay y'all for. Pay what? If I find out, I'm gonna come down like Hot 97. Well, they sent the check.
SPEAKER_02They gave us hell after the last awards. Uh a few people. I wouldn't say like not a big deal.
SPEAKER_03You feel me?
SPEAKER_02But some people gave us hell because it's like around this time, we're gonna let you know, hey, if you would like to be nominated for the award show, you feel me? Go ahead, submit your name, have your people's, you know, promote you. Yeah. Because we don't see everybody. The people have to speak. But like, if we start getting nominations and and submissions, like, hey, who's this? Who's this barber? We go, oh, okay. You know what I'm saying? Like, yeah, like, but like, it's somebody who might feel like they better in every aspect. That's ego, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_04Like, it's advertisement too, because you can be a barber for 20 years, but it's like, yo, if you have like 40, if you have 40 followers on Instagram and three posts, it's like, how can I market that? Right, right.
SPEAKER_03Can I ask you a better question? How many people do we know that live in the city, within our city, that has real deal fans? That's true. People that's gonna take the extra step to not just see the post, go to the link, put your name, vote for you, send it to somebody else. Like, that's a fan. You feel me? And when you're going for awards and you going for shows and you're going for anything that's number one, you gotta be the best at it. That's true. You feel me? So you gotta put that effort in, you gotta run a campaign. So get ready. And that's fair. Yeah, it's fair.
SPEAKER_00The Grammys run the same way. Yo, your your label is putting you in the right positions, you're doing the right interviews, advertisements, all of that. Yeah, it's it's part of the game.
SPEAKER_04I ain't gonna lie, I'm gonna be speaking on the Grammys. I'll forever say this on the top of the mind. I'll die on this hill. Um, I love um Killer Mike, but you did not deserve that Grammy over freaking traffic Scott. I'm sorry. A lot of people I'll be on the hill myself.
SPEAKER_00I think certain years, to address what you're saying, it's like we done give Taylor Swift the last 18 joints. To look like we're not racist, let's go find the blackest nigga in Atlanta. And like, yeah, we know what it we can do. Well overdue, but that year I'm like, not the blackest.
SPEAKER_02The blackest that we can accept.
SPEAKER_00Of course. Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00But killer microphone. The black metric that we can tolerate that we think.
SPEAKER_03You're not gonna be able to do that.
SPEAKER_01Killer Mike is pretty black.
SPEAKER_00He is pretty black. He's at the threshold.
SPEAKER_01He's at the threshold, you think? He's at the threshold.
SPEAKER_00He's not too ghetto. Like, we talk about niggas.
SPEAKER_01You're not like some niggas who should have a goddamn grammar. He's not adopted, man. Yeah, he I I well we okay. I feel like they get along. He might stand on the expression. This hardly makes sense, right?
SPEAKER_00I feel like they get along. Uh what else I have? Uh, what are you uh what are some of the uh biggest challenges you guys are dealing with right now? Uh when it comes to your professional life or your personal life, if you want to share.
SPEAKER_03Professional life?
SPEAKER_00Because we we try to humanize people here. Yeah because a lot of times, like you guys, we might present stoic, we might present like we always have it together, but it's like people don't know. If you don't create and you never had to sell something, you never had to create something, have a business, you don't know the amount of sacrifices that people go through. You know, to you know, getting loans or paying for shit with your own money, going broke behind the scene. People don't know. They just see, hey, these niggas are always doing events, shit always up, everything is perfect, but you know, there's ups and there, there's downs in any businesses. So, like, what are some challenges that you guys face?
SPEAKER_03More downs than ups, too, for sure. That's reality, bro. I think with the challenge with the business, I'm speaking for myself, expanding, expanding, bro. Finding uh more markets, finding more markets, finding more people to uh sell the product to. You feel me? Um, I think on a personal level, finding more fucking time, bro. You took the words out of my mind. Ain't that?
SPEAKER_01Damn, bro.
SPEAKER_03We as soon as we get home, bro. We all right, if we get out of this, Wednesdays are our longest days for all of us, for sure.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_03So as soon as you wake up on a Wednesday, you already pissed the fuck off. You already know this day finna be long.
SPEAKER_02Because you was you was thinking about Wednesday on Tuesday. On Tuesday.
SPEAKER_03So you wake up, gotta go to work, we all go to work, and we get off. Probably by the time everybody gets comfortable, it's probably like 6.37. Najle driving up from pumping over, all type of traffic, Tony getting off. I'm dropping off kids, we run to the studio. We dare till about midnight.
SPEAKER_05Yeah.
SPEAKER_03And what fucking sucks is Wednesday, so what you gotta do on Thursday?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Get your ass right back up. So I think the time.
SPEAKER_00And now the footage you got, you gotta edit it, you gotta cut it, chop it. I don't know. Hello. Now you gotta think about ways to market it.
SPEAKER_04I just want to make sure, bro. I hope they're treating you right. Of course, of course. The editor's job needs like, yo, shout out to all the editors out there. Like you do God's work. And he does that for work too, so it's like no, no time off.
SPEAKER_02That's his job. That's his nine to five. I know what you're doing.
SPEAKER_01That's what I do all the time. Not even just edit, just production in general. I mean, but like, what, like I it's just being, I guess my professionally, I feel like I I just have so much things happening. Like I have to like it's just like Juan said, having more time. Like just like being pulled in a lot of different directions, and then having to give different time to even in a personal aspect. It's like, oh, I gotta do this for work, then I gotta do this for this, then I gotta spend time with my girl, then I gotta give time to the family. Then it's like, not even not like it's a blame, not like it's a blame, but I'm saying like you you gotta find, you gotta like, it may it almost like forces you to be like way more organized, or you're just gonna drown. Crash, you're gonna drown.
SPEAKER_00Not to be toxic at this very moment. Gary, you never had a long day at work, and you thinking you about to chill, and your girl would have fuck.
SPEAKER_05No!
SPEAKER_03Get out of here. Like you ain't messing them up like that. He's fine. He's fine. He's not in the low, man.
SPEAKER_00You the most drink, dude. The whole day that took every ounce of energy. Nah, you know what the wear the sexiest laundry for you.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna find that little juice though.
SPEAKER_00It ain't gonna be an hour juice.
SPEAKER_02You're gonna find that. You know when you got that lawnmower back in the days when it was gym and you gotta yank that benefit. You're gonna find that juice. Get up, Craig. You're gonna find that juice. You're gonna find that juice. Please give me 20 minutes. I mean, I would say um the hardest thing is like, and them boys know me. Like, I feel like every day I need at least like an hour to two hours. Just sit down and let my mind wander. Right there with you, Call of Duty. You know what I mean? Whatever it may be. You know what I'm saying? And that's not even that time. You feel me? But like I be needing like an hour or two. Yeah, just just to let everything flow. And then you might sit down for like 30 minutes, like, oh shoot, nah. I ain't got the time. All you're thinking about is what you gotta do. You're like, no, I don't really have the time. Like, I thought I did, no, I ain't got it. So it's more about managing that. But I mean, it's like you always, like you said, you got that bug in your back where you always thinking, like, this what I want, this what I want, this what I want, this one I want. I don't care. Like, you know what I'm saying? So that helps out a lot, you feel me? And them boys help motivate me, to be honest. Like, right, same, same. But where can the people find you?
SPEAKER_01Oh, um C Y O N underscore Podcast, C Y O N underscore Records, C Y O N underscore Awards, C Y O N underscore C E O, C Y O N underscore T R. We're actually right there.
SPEAKER_05He done said it in his sleep.
SPEAKER_01Mr. Girl underscore C Y O N. It's fun club.
SPEAKER_00I want to hear that segment of the show. That was wild. Uh I feel like they they girls get messy. I love that.
SPEAKER_03We appreciate y'all boys for being on the card. Thank you for coming in.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. And speaking of time, maybe later on this year, next year, we're gonna work on getting dates off so we can participate participate. Sometimes I feel bad. I'm like, fuck. I think on a Friday night, I'm working.
SPEAKER_04That's the biggest before we before we wrap up, that's one of the biggest misconceptions about me is that people think I generally don't fuck with nobody. That's not true. I just nah I wasn't man, we never worked out with y'all. Everybody think that.
SPEAKER_02Like friend groups, family.
SPEAKER_04I really don't go out the house.
SPEAKER_02I really don't go though. Nah, but we need y'all to pull up on us on a Wednesday so we can run it at the radio.
SPEAKER_00We can work that out for sure. That's that's literally a a plan for me, like to just be more strategic about taking time off to do things. Because what a lot of people in my life do, because they see me outside. But I'm I could be outside promote, I'm rarely outside for personal fun. For sure. If I'm outside, I'm supporting somebody, I got invited somewhere. Those plans were made already. Right. So because people see me out a lot, they're like, oh, but I invited you, you could. So it's like it get, but now I gotta be better at, you know, hey, let me know two weeks in advance. Let me request our time off with my job. Let me you get what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_04Because and what do you go by, man?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, uh, I go by the name of Cheech, aka uh fourth quarter is about to be lit. Uh, we have a lot in store, um, a lot of surprises coming, a lot of shit that we want to introduce y'all to. So, yeah, uh, I'm excited to be here.
SPEAKER_04For sure, man. I went in with Gary, aka and Gary Trust, aka Mr. Sneaker Convo, aka create your own narrative.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I like it.
SPEAKER_01Like everybody though. Hey, one one one more last thing before we go, guys. Just want to say you guys are invited, and you as well. Back at home, you are invited. October 16th.
