Sin is fundamentally unbelief in Jesus Christ, producing various negative attributes including adultery, anger, and deception as shown in John 16:9 and 1 John 3:4. Through Adam's single transgression, all humanity fell under condemnation, making us sinful by nature rather than merely through our actions.

• Sin is unbelief in Jesus Christ that produces numerous negative attributes
• One sin separates us from God, not just habitual sinning
• All humans are conceived in sin due to Adam's transgression
• No one naturally seeks after God or does good in His sight
• Even non-believers' good works appear as "filthy rags" before God
• We deserve punishment for our sins but receive mercy instead
• Mercy cannot be earned—it is freely given by God's choice
• Salvation comes through trusting God and being born again

Put your trust in God and be born again. Then the fruit of righteousness will follow.

Speaker 1:

Mysteries Revealed. The End Time Message Handbook, section 40, sin and Its Attributes. As we are all aware, sin is unbelief. Brother Branham bases this upon the scripture in John 16, verse 9, that says the Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin because they believe not on me. Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin because they believe not on me. Sin is unbelief in Jesus Christ, and this sin has many attributes that it produces. It produces adultery, fornication, cursing, bitterness, anger, murder, slander, gossip, stealing, drunkenness, addiction, fraud and lying, etc. It is only through faith that we can be saved and it is only through unbelief that we are lost. Faith produces good works and unbelief produces evil works.

Speaker 1:

The Scripture also tells us in 1 John 3, verse 4, whosoever commit a sin transgresseth also the law, for sin is the transgression of the law. When we break the law of God, we sin and are to be held accountable for it. According to the scriptures, the wages of sin is death. Based upon the story of Adam and Eve, we find that it is just one sin that results in the condemnation of death. It isn't habitual sinning that produces death, but just one sin separates us from a holy God. I want you to notice what Paul writes in Romans 5, verses 17 and 18. For if, by one man's offense, death reigned by one, therefore by the offense of one judgment, came upon all men to condemnation, we are counted as sinners the moment we are conceived in the womb Psalms 51, verse 5, behold, I was shapen in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me. It is not because of our own sin, because we haven't done anything sinful yet, but the sin of Adam is imputed to us. When Adam sinned, we all received the death sentence. When Adam sinned, we were all judged to condemnation. We are all sinful by nature. Romans, chapter 3, verses 9 through 20.

Speaker 1:

What then, are we better than they? No, in no wise, for we have before proved, both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin. As it is written, there is none righteous no, not one. There is none that understandeth. There is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way. They are together become unprofitable. There is none that understandeth. There is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way. They are, together become unprofitable. There is none that doeth good no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher. With their tongues, they have used deceit. The poison of asps is under their lips, whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness, their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways. And the way of peace have they not known?

Speaker 1:

Verse 2. By the law is the knowledge of sin. We are all under the dominion of sin by nature. It dominates us and we find this truth in every nation, no matter where it is.

Speaker 1:

Paul goes through many scriptures in the Old Testament detailing this truth. I want to emphasize a few of them. One no one seeks after God. Two no one does good.

Speaker 1:

By our very nature, we do not seek after God. Instead, we rebel against him. We commit treason against the king of the universe. There is none that does good. There are certainly people in the world who are not believers, that do kind things to others, but in the eyes of God, every good work an unregenerate person does is as filthy rags before him. The very best works of mankind are tainted with evil. In the sight of God. The whole world is guilty before God because of the sin of Adam and secondly because of their sin, which comes from their wicked nature. By our sins we have committed high treason against a holy and perfect God, who is the King of the universe. We are worthy of death as a result.

Speaker 1:

There is literally nothing we can do to earn the favor of God. We do not deserve mercy, a fair shake or an easy life. You often hear people who have experienced loss or suffering in their life say I didn't deserve this or God owes me an explanation for this. Thank God, we do not get what we deserve. We deserve misery, punishment and death because of our sin. We don't earn or deserve mercy.

Speaker 1:

Mercy is something that is freely given to someone that doesn't deserve it. This is why the scripture says of the Lord I will have mercy. On whom I will have mercy? It is God's choice and decision to have mercy. Mercy is not earned or deserved. We deserve instant death when we sin, and yet God in his mercy gives us space to repent. In conclusion, the root of sin is unbelief in God, and the fruit of sin is the transgression of the law. We are all, by nature, sinners and worthy of death. We inherit that sinful nature from Adam and on down through the human race. We are guilty and judged unworthy of God, but it is through the grace of God and the blood of Jesus Christ that we can be saved. All we have to do is put our trust in God and be born again. Then the fruit of righteousness will follow.
