Have you ever had that moment where God drops something on your heart—something so exciting, yet so overwhelming at the same time?

In this episode, I share a deeply personal story from a simple car ride that became a divine reset. A moment where I paused and answered two questions I felt the Holy Spirit whisper:

👉🏽 What do you love to do?
👉🏽 Where does your heart feel most alive in your destiny?

My answer? Speaking. Podcasting. Teaching women how to break through voicelessness and rise into their God-given voice.

But even after that clarity... there was still a pause.
A waiting.
A deeper surrender.

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time… though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come.” —Habakkuk 2:3

We’ll talk about the tension between knowing your calling and waiting on the appointed time.
You’ll hear a prayer-turned-devotion that shifted my thinking:
🕊️ Trusting God’s timing means releasing the need to prove your purpose.
Let Him lead—again and again.

This episode is your invitation to stop striving and start surrendering.

Waiting as a Divine Appointment

Speaker 1

You might feel like you're waiting and circling around the same mountain. But listen, god is writing your testimony in the waiting. His timeline is not a delay, it's a divine appointment. Welcome back to the Stick no More Voices podcast. I'm so glad you are listening.

Speaker 1

Whether you're driving down the road or folding laundry I hate that one too or just grabbing a few moments to yourself, this space was made for you, oftentimes from the overflow of me in the secret place. Today's episode is deeply personal. It's kind of goes right along with my last episode. What God orders, he pays for, but it has the part of that. What God orders. Sometimes there's a weight in that. We're talking about wrestling wrestling with God, though rarely saying it out loud.

Wrestling with God's Timeline

Speaker 1

I'm waiting, specifically how God can burst something beautiful like a podcast or a new business venture, and you're thinking about it, or right in the middle of a season that seems slow still or even uncertain. It might just be the finances are not there or you just feel stuck. I love Ecclesiastes 3, verse 1, which says there's a time for everything and a season for every activity in the heavens. Grab your coffee or grab some courage and let's talk what it means to wait, what it means to create from the wait, or I'd say, from the rest. You know, there comes that moment I don't know about you, but there comes that moment when God drops something on your heart and it feels both exciting and completely overwhelming. I am reminded of this quote from one of my YouVersion devotions that I made into a prayer. It was at a time where I wasn't really solidified. I was waiting on a lot of things, but I was waiting for things to be solidified so I can go forward and know that. I know that this is what I need to be, where I need to be, and it goes like this Too often we become anxious to prove our God-given purpose to ourselves or others.

Speaker 1

But why, if God has truly extended the calling, won't he also firmly establish us in the place? The way he's chosen that we live out Patient, step after step, is wise as we both seek and discover God's purpose for our lives. Is God calling you to be patient about your purpose, to trust him about the timing or testing? Can you, again and again and again, give him the reins and let him fully take the lead?

Character Before Assignment

Speaker 1

For me, this came at a moment where I handed the reins over on my hopes and dreams to him and he broke through by asking me some questions, because I was in between digital marketing and some other things Always sometimes feeling like I was hitting my head against the same place in the wall, because I so wanted to be able to have a sustaining income, not just for myself but for my kids. I'm living with them right now, so I was actually on a drive to see my kids when I wasn't living with him. I heard him break through and I felt God asked me what do you love to do? Where does your heart feel like it's in the sweet spot of your destiny? As I was driving down the road, I just started to say God, I love to speak, I love podcasting, I love teaching people how to create a podcast and I hadn't even done that yet. But I just love teaching too, helping women find their voice if they feel voiceless from trauma or shame. All these things were coming out. Feel voiceless from trauma or shame. All these things were coming out and it was the beginning for me personally, of doing one thing and focusing on that creating a new vision with purpose that resonated with God's yes. So I just matched my yes with God's yes.

Speaker 1

Habakkuk 2, verse 3 says For the vision is yet for an appointed time, though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come. Waiting is not punishment. Sometimes it's protection, Sometimes it's for protection. I'm saying, I'm pausing, for you to think about that, what God blesses, he protects. And focusing, asking God, finding yourself in that secret place, constantly asking him. So I had this idea. I had to go to the secret place. I had to go with God and say, okay, speak to me. And that quote I read to you was one of the places he spoke to me.

Speaker 1

God likes to work on the inside of you. Before you're ever meant to hit record or open up your cart for your business. He wants to make sure your character can handle your assignment. God's more interested in your character than your comfort, and I love this. You are being prepared. God is faithfully directing your path. I love how this is illustrated in the Passionist Proverbs, 21, verse 1. It's as easy for God to steer a king's heart for his purposes as it is for him to direct the course of a stream. You can think of yourself. God is the one who directs you. God is the kingdom of God is the one who fulfills you and fulfills the purpose.

Creating from the Overflow

Speaker 1

The truth is, in the very beginning I thought launching a podcast would be fast and easy, but I quickly found back then, over six years ago, it was a little work. Not that way today. But I had all these other things going through my mind and most recently the weight has been real a life-threatening and altering crash, a boulder in the window of my wide open dreams. I just started the stuck no more voices academy. I was in session five and the boulder came in. It's when you get help from friends to do session six. We we're going to hear from Alana Vanderventer in an episode coming up.

Speaker 1

But God reminds me at that moment of the crash, of the waiting, of the healing, going to rehab, living now with your kids, and your studio is not set up. But God said hey, you got the Jesus chair, you can broadcast from there. It's not your favorite mic, but I want you to be faithful. So sometimes in the way you do the next thing, and the next thing might be something really small. So for me personally, I had no choice but to hang on to Jesus, as the surgeon called not only my double mastectomy, but he called for a very rare second surgery a month after. So talk about getting hit by a Mack truck, one after another. That's how I felt. When I get up in the morning I felt like a Mack truck just hit me. So there was a waiting for healing. You might feel like you're waiting and circling around the same mountain, but listen, god is writing your testimony in the waiting. His timeline is not a delay, it's a divine appointment. So I had a. I have a great counselor Like said who's gonna? You're gonna hear in the next podcast.

Speaker 1

But she was constantly reminding me as we had some sessions. I said I want to have reverence to my cancer story. I don't want that to be the main point, but I'm not afraid to share so I can help the person I once was. So I'm sharing the healing process now and I love how she kind of put me back in the right direction because I said I want to have reverence. I don't want to use this selfishly, I'm just going to talk about my cancer. What was me? No, no, I want to use it with purpose.

Speaker 1

And she said something really powerful. She said from the overflow. Overflow isn't just writing about getting unstuck, it's living in freedom and sharing from that place. It reflects transformation, not striving, but overflow it's the natural follow-up to stuck no more a life led free and full from the overflow. So that can happen to you. I understand, as you step forward in your business idea creating a podcast, maybe launching a course you can create from the overflow even in the waiting, like I'm creating from the overflow.

Staying Connected to the Vine

Speaker 1

Again, as I was talking to God, I'm having trouble sleeping. Let me reel with you and I stayed up real late and I actually listened to a podcast interview I did about a year ago with Alana, who you're going to hear in the next episode, and it was almost like I had a session with her, because she reminded me of some key elements of the healing of the neuropsycho process, and some of those key elements just very simply, is you need to continue to be grateful in the waiting. Thankfulness releases neurons in your brain. That releases hope neurons. As you're grateful, you're able to go through the dry, dark times, but you're not taking on a victim mentality, you're taking on a hope mentality.

Speaker 1

She shared a study that was revealed about kamikaze pilots planes that their whole mission is to crash the plane and do damage. She said the ones that did not succeed were the ones who, as they were looking down. They looked up and they put their plane up and they didn't crash in. So there's something simple in the waiting as continuing to look up, even though you don't have evidence of what you want to happen, you look up, you're grateful and you have hope. Hope becomes a sustaining power by the Holy Spirit to help you go forward, no matter the lack, no matter the I don't know how to put this business plan together, or no matter just waiting to get the pieces together to go forward so that can happen to you. It doesn't have to be perfect, but it does help to have it, to be God-breathed, to be Holy Spirit-led.

Speaker 1

I want you to know now I'm living with my kids. This is a different kind of a weight. We're waiting to move so we all have our own room. I'm living in the living room, if you can imagine that, and there are boxes all up on the other side of the room and one thing that a mess can create a mess in your mind. So I can't wait to move. But also, at the same time, you can do this the continuing to be grateful, the continuing to spend time with God, to find hope in the secret place, to be grateful, keeps your head above the mess.

Speaker 1

Your obedience in the small is doing great things. On the inside, you're learning about the truth of staying abiding in the vine in the vineyard. John 15, verse 5, says I am the vine, you are the branches. Apart from me, you can do nothing. So your podcast, your business, your ministry, it's not about performance. It's about connection, staying connected to Jesus and pouring out for what he's doing in you.

Speaker 1

So if you're waiting right now, I want you to know your weight is not wasted. Start where you are with what you have. God will do the rest. If you're in a season that feels like a pause, can I encourage you to lean in? God isn't silent, he's preparing and that quiet whisper you hear. That just might be your next step, your next stage, your next voice in a podcast.

Speaker 1

I'm always saying that because I love to see women flourish in a podcast. So back in the day, when I was fighting for my voice, I would listen and God would. The Holy Spirit would just sweep across me fighting for my voice and he would talk to me in the words of the vine dresser. So I feel like I need to end this short little podcast with a vine dresser word reminding you you're not late. I heard the vine dresser say this.

The Vine Dresser's Encouragement

Speaker 1

Imagine the vine dresser being your father, who is the vine dresser. He goes up and down the rows of the vineyard and if he sees a branch fall off the vine and maybe in the mud because it rained and trampled on, the vine dresser carefully places that vine, that branch, washes it off. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. He washes off that branch and puts it on the trellis facing the sun. Listen to the vine dresser Say this dear one, draw close.

Speaker 1

I have something to share which concerns you and your waiting. Listen. Your delays and brokenness don't move me. Your death, punches of disappointments or crashes on your heart don't disqualify you. You can be creative instead of cautious, instead of cautious. How is that? You may see in the weight, it's simply this Show up, I'll give you times of obscurity so you can find those quiet moments to heal from the venom of lies, of the evil one. When you let me show up, I bring a blanket to cover your broken body, a word to stir your shattered soul, a sweet, soft, compassionate sound to soothe your mind.

Speaker 1

Show up, child. I don't look for perfection. Lay down your fear. I rejoice in process, imperfect action which brings a smile to my face. It's better than no action, dear one. Trust me to bring the breakthroughs amidst the weight inside your tender heart, which becomes displays of my brilliance, and healing and hope deep in the core of you. Show up, be you. Let the design and frequencies of heaven reverberate from your voice.

Speaker 1

Half the battle is in a simple move to step from the weight out of the shadows of terrorizing fear to simply show up with faith For what might seem like a shaky place. You show up with a voice that carries my voice of comfort, compassion, kindness, humility and a unique hope. Show up and share your voice. Your life in all its authenticity becomes a song that others get to hear and believe the real. You brings the music which others can sing, hum and even dance to. It's a sound of reverberating truth.

Speaker 1

Declaring I can beat the weight. Declaring I can heal the most devastating drama of trauma. I can heal the waiting that seems like it's a knot. I can keep you going, even if it feels like you're waiting in the hall of the now and not yet. I can be the solution to win the shame game and I can pull back a chair for the one mentally assaulted to a feast at my table of love and truth. Show up, be you. You're a mouthpiece of me. Your business is the mouthpiece with my voice. No strive in this, simply abide in the vine. Love the vine dresser.

Speaker 1

I want you to take a moment today and ask yourself what is God whispering to you in this season of waiting? I want you to write it down, pray into it and trust he's moving. Even now I can tell you some of the most drastic waiting. As I sit in his presence. Words come out of the Bible, words come from devotions, words come to breathe, hope that the waiting is a process. It's not an end. I have waited amidst healing and it's not the end. Let's get healed and let's go forward. God says to me. So thank you for sharing this space with me today.
