The Wild Fly Podcast
This is a podcast meant to bring about meaningful conversations on fly fishing, creativity, business, and everything in between. The goal of this podcast is to highlight the importance of how creativity and outdoor recreation can lead to a better life. In some episodes, we will strictly talk about fly fishing-related topics but we want to dive deeper than that. We want to better understand why people do what they do and bring about tangible information that our audience can take and apply to their next adventure. I don't claim to be a professional in any of the fields above, but I hope to learn as we go and learn from the guests that we bring onto the show. This podcast is designed for you--the audience--and I hope that we can bring about conversations that will help elevate your game in whatever field that may be. Will Phelps is a Georgia native, residing in the northern parts of Montana. He moved out west, a few years back, because of his love for fly fishing and the outdoors. While getting into fly fishing, he started bringing a camera along to document his trips. He produced short films that he shared on YouTube and eventually found an opportunity to work with the photographer, Bryan Gregson. Since then, Will has sharpened his skills behind the lens and has produced some incredible videos for some of the biggest brands in the industry. In this episode, we talk about how he has been able to make a career out of producing fly fishing content and the realities of what that really looks like. Will shares some of his filming secrets and his biggest mistakes that he made early on. We go into depth about what our processes' look like when producing a film and the biggest lessons we've learned through filming fly fishing. We also have a Q&A segment, later in the episode, where we answer some of your most asked questions about Filmmaking, Editing & YouTube. This is one of my favorite talks so far and I hope you enjoy it!
