Now What? Going 🏠 Or Leaving 🏠?

Both of course.
Jacob went on his Journey
 But where he was going is not where we are, why talk about this now!?
 
Good morning!

 It's a Jewish custom to announce at the end of Shabbat Braishit, which was yesterday, "Jacob went on his Journey" The sentiment seems to be, "Hey, we had a great holiday season, let's take the inspiration and get to work!"
 But the truth is that where Jacob was going seems to be incongruous to where we are headed.
 The verse Jacob went on his Journey is referring to Jacob's return to Israel and his saintly father Isaac.
 
But we? are we going home or leaving home?

To understand this we have to know a little about the coming of Moshiach, the purpose of the whole journey.
 When Moshiach comes, we will not only experience G-dliness and light in a holy temple in Jerusalem, the whole world will be full of G-d's light. But how did the light get there? A mitzva done by one ten year old Jacob in Madagascar in 2022 and a word of Torah studied by a 80 year old Jacob in the 1800s in Morocco. Millions of Jacobs doing millions of mitzvahs in millions of places throughout this time of exile reaches far beyond the specific time and place that that mitzva was done in.

So from the moment we were sent to exile we have always been on the journey home, much as Jacob's journey outside of Israel to Charan was also part of his journey home. 

Our departure from the holiday season into regular non holiday season is not about stepping down and stepping up to the plate, it's about taking a step home, a step towards bringing Moshiach. 

How?

By bringing the light of G-d into the parts of the world that seem to be a step back and a step away.
