The Secret Of Our Existence

What is the secret to our survival?

Good morning! I would like to share with you a paraphrased letter from the Rebbe on this subject. Throughout the generations, despite various challenges, including the current presence of Jews in our holy land, the existence of the Jewish people goes beyond the natural order. From an economic and political perspective, a nation of this size would not be expected to survive, let alone maintain its position at the focal point where powerful nations' interests collide.

It is remarkable that throughout history, even in ancient times, the land of Israel was a place of conflict and strife among the peoples and kingdoms that ruled over it. Yet, periods of peace and tranquility were fleeting compared to the extended times when the Jewish people were loyal to G-d and walked in the way of the Torah and the commandments, as in the days of David and Solomon.

Since the land of Israel is a land where, as the Torah says, the eyes of G-d are upon it from the beginning of the year to the end of the year, it is certain that the guardian of Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. Just as until now, in the future as well, He will protect His people Israel from all distress and hardship.

The stronger the foundation of our existence, the stronger we are. The Jewish people are called 'one nation in the land' - and the more we live a way of life based on the teachings of the Torah, which is one Torah given to all of us by one G-d, the security in our holy land will grow, leading to the fulfillment of the promise: "You will dwell securely in your land, and I will grant peace in the land, and you will lie down, and no one will make you afraid."
