Intro
SPEAKER_01Welcome everyone, coming to you directly from the luxurious OLR Studios, this is Templeton. Where is Las Vegas?
SPEAKER_03This is Sweet Baby Jay. Can I see what you just said written on paper?
SPEAKER_01This is Melina. It is the biggest spider I've ever seen in my life.
SPEAKER_02This is Grizz.
SPEAKER_01After this, I'm going to get off here and I'm going to dragon them balls.
SPEAKER_02This is the Arrogant Yeti. At least I know 2 plus 2 is 5. And this is the FMJ Podcast.
SPEAKER_03We ready? Okay. Are we ready? I suppose, yeah. Are you ready for this? Are you hanging on the edge
SPEAKER_01of your seat?
SPEAKER_03Mortal Kombat! We just combined like four different songs. Okay.
SPEAKER_02And I was here for all of it.
SPEAKER_03Welcome back to another beautiful episode of the FMJ Podcast where we make all of your wildest fantasies come true. I'm just kidding, we don't do that. Unless you get really angry and poke Yeti in the nose, pour honey on him, and throw a lemon right in his eye.
SPEAKER_02That's very violent And I don't appreciate the violence How's it violent? You
SPEAKER_03said poke
SPEAKER_02me in the eye like multiple times No I said poke
SPEAKER_03you in the nose And then pour some honey on you And then throw a lemon in your eye That's different
SPEAKER_02The lemon's gonna burn big dog
SPEAKER_03Is it though? As long as you don't get the lemon juice in there you're fine
SPEAKER_01Why are you so violent? He said like a lemon Not like a sliced lemon or lemon juice
SPEAKER_03Just a lemon So it could be like a whole lemon Could be half a lemon. Could be just a lemon slice. Just protect your eyeball. Whatever. Anyway.
SPEAKER_02I have no friends here.
Checking Pulses
SPEAKER_03Yes, you do. We're all friends here. We all float down here. We all float down here. George, you got what he deserved. Anyway, let's check everybody's pulses.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, let's do that.
SPEAKER_03Let's start with a... Templeton. What's up? How you doing? How's your pulse? What's your pulse look like?
SPEAKER_01It's like a solid 80.
SPEAKER_03That's not bad. I mean, it's a little elevated, but not terrible. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01A little tired, but I'm good. Ooh. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Sorry.
SPEAKER_01I don't know what that means, but you get an ooh anyway, because it was a sick burn. Ooh, sick burn, dog. Sick burn.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Anyway, Templeton, as you were saying, before you're so rudely interrupted...
SPEAKER_01Oh, I was saying, I'm a little tired, but it's all good. I, like, took a nap before the show. Oh,
SPEAKER_03yeah? How long was your nap?
SPEAKER_01Maybe 45 minutes, an hour. That's not bad. That's a good nap. That's pretty good. That's solid. That's a solid nap.
SPEAKER_03I can usually get like 20 minutes in and just be like reset. That's a hard reset for me. 15 to 20 minute naps. Forget about it. Really? Forget
SPEAKER_01about it. 20 minutes is like, that's nothing.
SPEAKER_03I know. Trust me. Most people look at me weird when I'm like, yeah, give me 20 minutes and I'm back ready to rock and roll. And they're like, how do you do it? I'm like, I don't know. How do you do it? I don't know. It's just my body. But that's cool. I'm glad you had a nap. Anything fun? Exciting? Nothing new? Just kind of living life? Working?
SPEAKER_01Paying bills? We just came off a holiday weekend. It was a short work week for all of us, but it was also a fucking long work week for all of us.
SPEAKER_03I
SPEAKER_01mean, it was Yeti's shaking his head, you guys. I don't know if you can see him or not. He's shaking his head, but there were still like two days that you didn't work that you would have normally. One day. You didn't work Monday. Nobody did. Nobody worked Monday. So I'm just saying like... For most of us, Yeti excluded. It was like a four-day work week, but it was so long and so tedious.
SPEAKER_03It did feel like it dragged on a little bit. I will say that. I will say that it felt kind of slow.
SPEAKER_01All of us in the podcast or in a group chat, we use it to... sort of coordinate the show and, hey, what are we going to do? When are we going to do it? Who's going to be there? So on and so forth. And Jay's been so busy this week that hardly anybody's heard from him.
SPEAKER_03yeah yeah i've been i've been held hostage i've been held hostage at work yeti but you're done but you're done uh no i gotta go back you have to go back next
SPEAKER_02week
SPEAKER_03monday monday tuesday wednesday possibly i'm not
SPEAKER_02sucks to suck it does because you hate going out there did you take the uh did you take your little uh your little guy with you
SPEAKER_03no like literally all i did was
SPEAKER_02you went
SPEAKER_03raw
SPEAKER_02dogging
SPEAKER_03i did because i i had my and and and and i'm kind of upset about it because um the tv in the hotel wasn't a smart tv so it's not like i could mirror my phone to it which i don't know i don't don't ask me um so i was like you know what i haven't watched the new season of rick and morty so i'm just laying in bed with my phone right here just watching i'm like i wish i could watch this on the tv but whatever crazy yeah yeah so there is that but um no you're right templeton i've been i've been very busy this week and now next week will be the same thing. So, um, but I learned a lot, which is nice. So, but other than that, you know, um, I'm glad everything's good with you. You got a nap in. Yup. You're ready to rock and roll. Um, yeah. So that's good. That's good. That's good. Uh, Yeti. Yo. See if he can get it. Ladies and gentlemen, I have faith. I have faith in Yeti. What does your pulse? Look-a-like.
SPEAKER_02420?
SPEAKER_03Jesus Christ. So close. So close. You're that close.
SPEAKER_01I mean, that would explain a lot.
SPEAKER_03It would explain a lot, but you are so close. So close. But I don't think that's right. But... But that's okay. You'll get it next time. How is it not right? What else could it be? It's not right. 420? If your pulse is that high, buddy, you need to go to the ER right now. It should never be that high. It should never be that high. What if it is right now? Ooh, I mean, if it's that high, you know what I mean? You know what I mean? Wait, wait, wait, wait. For the joke. Anyway. For the
SPEAKER_02joke.
SPEAKER_03Anyway. Tell us how you're doing, Yeti. What's going on?
SPEAKER_02Overall, pretty good. Share a story with us. I will share a story with you guys. I will be glad to share a story with you guys. As Templeton said we had a holiday work week this week or whatever I'm trying to say but I volunteered to come in Saturday but on Tuesday I told them I'm not coming in unless I touch 40 hours on Friday because I don't want my Saturday not to be overtime
SPEAKER_03that's fair
SPEAKER_02well they made sure I hit 40 hell
SPEAKER_03yeah
SPEAKER_02so I did like 12 hours 11 hours 10 hours and then today I did 7.5 only because I had to go to a daycare center to meet some teachers and show off the little one
SPEAKER_03show off the little one look at my baby
SPEAKER_01one thing you can say about like I guess our job but your job specifically it's like oh you want ours say less say less all of the
SPEAKER_02hours right oh did you see we're getting raised I'm sure you did you see we're getting raises
SPEAKER_01no I was going to ask about that because I haven't heard anything
SPEAKER_02we're going to Oh,
SPEAKER_01damn.
SPEAKER_02You're
SPEAKER_03getting Raising
SPEAKER_02Cane's? No, it's pretty fire. Like... Let me see here. I'm going to make this big, and I'm going to... Don't say that. You know how much you make an hour, right? I do, yes. Okay, so look at this and tell me what step you're on. I'm going to step five. Okay, so that's what you'll be making.
SPEAKER_01Jesus Christ, I was not expecting that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so... Yay! You've seen that, right? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Hang
SPEAKER_03on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And that starts in October, correct? Yeah. starts October. Correct, correct, correct.
SPEAKER_03We wanted to celebrate with you,
SPEAKER_02Templeton. I'm currently here. I'm trying to... Get off the light, bro.
SPEAKER_03Get off the light.
SPEAKER_02I'm right here. I'll be coming down to here. Not bad.
SPEAKER_01Not bad at all. How many swings are at your station? I know there's you and there's Jeff, right?
SPEAKER_02No, Jeff took a route. There's me, TJ, Brinston.
SPEAKER_01I
SPEAKER_02haven't seen TJ in like months. Lawrence and John. So there's five swings. Damn, there's a lot of swings I messed up, bro.
SPEAKER_03Sounds like a lot of swings.
SPEAKER_02We
SPEAKER_03have more, but we have two shifts. Cool, cool.
SPEAKER_02Right, right, right. Cool, cool. Well, that's good news. So you ready for it? Yeah, no, it is good news. It is good news. That's good news. It's a chunk of change right there. Yes, it is. Yeah. That's a large chunk of change. And then like knowing that I'm going to be paying, I keep wanting to say child support, but it is not child
SPEAKER_00support. It is daycare.
SPEAKER_02It's a form of child support. Yeah, it's a form of
SPEAKER_01child support. Daycare is expensive as shit, especially if the child is an infant because they charge more for that because there's more care required.
SPEAKER_02Right, so for us, which is going to be starting in two weeks, it's going to be$300 a week. That's ridiculous, dude. That's like a mortgage fucking payment. Oh, it is a mortgage. Mortgage payment Like if you break it I mean 300 times 4 Is what? 1200 bucks? That's disgusting It's 1200 bucks Our house payment Is slightly less than 1200 bucks Uh uh
SPEAKER_01What are you going to do, man? There's nobody else to help you. So
SPEAKER_02yeah,
SPEAKER_01you just got to do what they want.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So I'm going to be doing that, but then we're going to be putting it on a credit card and hopefully pay a monthly payment. I'll be paying, I'll be paying a lot to it, but to try to keep it down as, as, as much as possible. Then I also learned that you can file, you can claim childcare on your taxes and you can get some of that money back.
SPEAKER_01Hell yeah. Oh, that's good. I didn't know that. Yeah. I
SPEAKER_02just, I learned that. Oh, trust me. I'm trying. Oh yeah. So I learned, that. So that's, that's pretty cool in itself. And I don't know, maybe, maybe Emily will get her pay raise this year as well. So that'd be dope. If that happens, that'd
SPEAKER_01be dope. No, one more thing before we switch topics. No, I was, yeah, go ahead. It's also even better that you, um, I know you missed your truck, but that would make a big difference because you don't have that truck payment every month now.
SPEAKER_02Yes and no. Because here's the thing, as I talked to Jay over there, so yeah, I got rid of the truck, but then if anyone would call, I don't know if I shared it or not, I fell through the deck. We had
SPEAKER_03that
SPEAKER_02discussion.
SPEAKER_01You had to get your deck replaced.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and what I saved on the truck immediately went to the deck.
SPEAKER_03So the truck payment he was saving, he's now spending, but not on a truck.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I sort of feel like this group, maybe a couple other people could have probably taken care of that ourselves, though.
SPEAKER_02You're probably right. I'm not going to... Say no, because like, okay. So, and again, this is completely minor compared to a deck, but when we built, we, we, we did a little, was it DIY? Um, do it yourself project in the, in our, in my garage. Oh yeah. Yeah. The, the, the, the black and yellow coveys shelves, whatever you want to call them. Yeah. The tick tock trend. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So we built those and after building those and like, uh, Like, seeing how everything kind of went together. Looking back now, could I have done the deck? Oh, yeah, probably. Because, like, looking at it, there's not that much... Like, you got the Joyce, you got the... the post, like you got to set that stuff in concrete. The concrete's got to be so deep. Like I've never poured concrete. Like, I mean, there's certain things I would have to learn about, but you
SPEAKER_01can figure it
SPEAKER_02out. Right. It would be measuring. And then once you get the measurement down, like once you get the frame built, I mean, then you're just laying deck boards on it. Like it's, I say it's not hard, but... It's hard. Right, right.
SPEAKER_01The process is simple, but the philosophy behind it is a little bit complicated, because you've got to do it exactly right, or... It's not going to be right. It's going to be cockeyed,
SPEAKER_03lopsided. And that's why I always say, I have a 15-minute guarantee. For the first 15 minutes, it's fantastic. After that, when you start seeing all the little defects, that's on you, partner. Because I'm not qualified. Wait a minute! what happened to the dick I'm like oh look at that it's 20 minutes past the hour guarantee it's over gotta go
SPEAKER_02so alright so ready for the story time that I was going to share last podcast but I couldn't get through it because for whatever reason I kept getting disconnected make it quick let's go don't get me laughing again though please I know right so when my daughter was being born I do this digital card app called marvel collect on the cell phone and They had a set come out. It was called Chrome. It's a very popular set. Well, within this set, there was a 1 in 4,000 chance that you could get a card that had a card limit of 144. And the card read, congratulations, you won a hobby box, which is basically a giant box of these. Marvel Chrome and you get like 80, 70 something cards and they're actual physical cards and inside that box it comes with four numbered cards that are random so you can get a 1 of 1 of Iron Man a 1 of 1 of Scarlet Witch, a 1 of 1 of Black Panther, Silver Surfer, Thanos the list goes on and on and on and on but I'm pretty stoked because what we're going to be doing on a podcast probably on an Extra Lives episode is I will be breaking that box live. breaking it open yep on an extra lives uh episode so that will be fun and the on the flip side of that i just got the code to start the redemption process yay yeah so the small farm prince said it could take up to 15 weeks okay i mean it's a while but right but i mean i mean i've been reading i went online and some people said that they got it a lot quicker than what they're saying And I think they throw out that high number. just to kind of protect themselves you know what i'm saying
SPEAKER_03right because you never you never know what could happen i mean i mean aim aim high so that way if you get it quicker you're like oh nice surprise right like i'll tell you i'll tell you 15 weeks but you're probably you're probably gonna only gonna have to wait like seven to ten business days and exactly you know something reasonable but just in case something happens out of the ordinary get yourself covered it's a cya tactic probably
SPEAKER_02but i've already submitted it if i can get the glare why is this whole fucking Larry. Because you have a light on. There we go. status pending let's go that's right so I'm really stoked and I'm really curious to see what I'm able to score out of that box
SPEAKER_03hell yeah that'll be really cool
SPEAKER_02because like I said some of these cards like you can go on ebay and some of these cards are going for like$20,000 and shit yeah Jesus Christ yeah so like let's put this in perspective so that hobby box when it was released you could go on to tops get a box for like 250 right so it's a 250 valued box um obviously you can no longer go on tops and get said box it's being sold third party and when you go on ebay now um the last i checked the average price was about 650 675 to get a hobby box so yeah interesting very interesting
Entertainment News
SPEAKER_03that That's dope, and I am looking forward to doing an unboxing on an Extra Lives episode. That'll be a lot of fun. And see what you come up with, because that's dope. But other than that, it sounds like everybody's doing good. Yep. Doing swell. Yeti's waiting on his card, or whatever it is that he's getting. But good! I'm glad everybody's doing awesome. So... I'm curious, though. Who wants some entertainment news?
SPEAKER_02Always. Let's hear it.
SPEAKER_03Well, as of this recording, we all know that the next and final, I believe, installment of the Conjuring franchise is out today. That's right. Because of that, I'm sure people have heard, but did y'all know that comedian Matt Reif bought Ed and Lorraine Warren's Occult Museum that houses the Annabelle doll in the Conjuring franchise. I heard this, yes. I did not. Okay. So, he plans to open it up to the public for tours and overnight stays. Now, what I'm going to read to you is from The Hollywood Reporter. Just a little quick excerpt. Matt Rife is now the legal guardian of the late Ed and Lorraine Warren's Occult Museum. Rife, a comedian known for his stand-up specials, most recently Lucid, took to social media on Friday, which was probably back in whenever he got it, to announce that he and Ghost Hunter Elton Castee bought the Paranormal Investigator's house. They are now the legal guardians of their collection of supposedly haunted objects, including the Annabelle doll and other artifacts used in the Warren cases, which inspired the Conjuring horror franchise. I have officially purchased Ed and Lorraine Warren's home and a cult museum, including being the legal guardian for at least the next five years of the entire haunted collection, including the Annabelle doll with my good friend at Elton Castee. Reads the caption to a carousel of photos, the first of which shows him and Castie posing with the Annabelle doll. If you know me, you know I'm obsessed with the paranormal and all things haunted. You also may know the Conjuring films are my favorite scary movies of all time, so I'm incredibly honored to have taken over one of the most prominent properties in paranormal history.
SPEAKER_02That's a big fuck that. I'm sorry. Like, I'm good. No, I'm good. I'm good.
SPEAKER_03So what you're saying, Eddie, is once they get it open to the public, you wouldn't want to take a tour through the occult museum that Ed and Lorraine Warren have?
SPEAKER_02As awesome as it sounds and how much the curiosity side of me would want to do that... my heart and soul is like, nah, we, we are fucking golden. You're good.
SPEAKER_03No, thank you. I'm fine.
SPEAKER_02Like, I don't even want to drive by the house in a car. Why not?
SPEAKER_03Why
SPEAKER_02not? No, no, not at all. Not at all. I have, I have issues looking at the house on Google maps. I'm good.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Gotcha. Gotcha. Now he did say, um, and I quote, he said, we plan to open the house for overnight stays and museum tours. so you yourself can experience and learn all the haunted history surrounding this amazing place.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I'm good. I feel like they're just trying to kill people.
SPEAKER_00Are they?
SPEAKER_02Okay. I just... And again, it's a curiosity aspect, and I understand why people do it for the thrill. But, like, you hear these stories, and, I mean, not only do you hear these stories, you see these stories because they've made them into movies, they made them into documentaries, like... there's a chance that any of it is true right like even a even a small little sliver why do you want to go poke on the bear like I don't go to the forest and find a fucking bear den and be like hey fuck you bear some people do
SPEAKER_03they're adrenaline junkies
SPEAKER_01I'm just gonna say like scary movies horror movies like thriller movies
SPEAKER_03yeah
SPEAKER_01from the very beginning like there has been very and I don't want to go into too deep into any kind of like sensitive stuff but there are tropes There's a certain demographic of people that would do that stuff. Like, oh, there's a noise in the basement. Let me go see what's happening. And there's a certain group of people that are like, oh, there's a noise in the basement. I'm getting the fuck out of here.
SPEAKER_03And I safely split by color. So we have WPS. So we have WPS and BPS.
SPEAKER_01And I think this is WPS.
SPEAKER_03I mean, obviously. Obviously,
SPEAKER_02it's evening
SPEAKER_03it's wps but um how's it here's here's gonna be my my my question which i guess i can see the difference but what is the difference between that and something like the uh uh sanatorium in louisville waverly
SPEAKER_00it's the same thing
SPEAKER_03okay i've been there Right. And you're crazy. And you're crazy! Am I, though? Kind of. Sort of. A little bit,
SPEAKER_02yeah. That's an easy answer. Again, if you partake in something of that nature... You're dancing. You're playing the risk. You're playing the game. What game? Oh, come on, bro, bro.
SPEAKER_03I don't know what game we're talking
SPEAKER_02about.
SPEAKER_03As long as you're respectful with a lot of it, you're fine. Okay, that's the key word. A lot of it.
SPEAKER_02And I've heard stories. I've watched enough TV and watched documentaries where I was just in bed minding my business and I was pulled off my bed.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Okay.
SPEAKER_02For no reason.
SPEAKER_03Okay. I mean, listen, if it's going to happen, it's going to happen whether you like it or not. It's not like something you can control. Go get closer to it. Wouldn't you want to be away from that? Now, okay, so here's what I'm going to ask you. Why do you think you're away from it? Because let's just go off of, because, you know, depending on what you believe in, right? We're not here to change anybody's mind or dive deep into, you know, whatever the afterlife and all that kind of shit but let's just for argument's sake let's just say that it is true right all of it is there you can be a ghost okay right right there could be a ghost standing right next to you right now and you have no idea right so why do you think you're so far away from it when it could literally be right next to you
SPEAKER_02okay again there's not a fucking history about my house and what has happened it doesn't
SPEAKER_03it doesn't just have to be the house it could be the land that it was built on but the
SPEAKER_02land there's no history of my land you
SPEAKER_01don't know that
SPEAKER_02right I don't know that as of right now because nothing's ever happened but if you go to a place where there's it's fucking known I'm sure like I'm sure if you this place is haunted can I go spend
SPEAKER_03the night sign me up Right here. Pick me, pick me, pick me. I'm just saying. It could happen anywhere. Any place could
SPEAKER_01become haunted. I think I'm Team Yeti on this one. Thank you, Templeton. I'm Team Yeti on this
SPEAKER_03one.
SPEAKER_01You can go to a place and every once in a while you get poked in the eye just by some random person. That is what it is. But if you go to Eye Poke Mountain Right! Thank you!
SPEAKER_02You're gonna get fucking poked in the eye. Thank you. I love it. that analogy I
SPEAKER_03poke mountain what go to I poke mountain I'm just saying there's not a little bit of you that's like wants to experience like who wants to get poked in the fucking eye
SPEAKER_02again the curiosity side of me is like yeah let's go let's go do it but the sensible side of me is like nah bro
SPEAKER_03what What's the sensible side saying, though? What's it saying? Nah, bro. You don't need to do that. Why, though? Why is it so against it?
SPEAKER_01Oh, what's the worst that could happen? I mean, all that would happen is I get my soul sucked into hell, and I'm the worst as fucking
SPEAKER_03ever. See, you're jumping to that's what's going to happen, even though I've gone to Waverly Hills, and I still got mines. So what you just said is not true. How many people go to Waverly Hills every single year? Lots. Right. Lots. Okay, here's the thing. And I can almost guarantee you, just to entertain you two, 99.9% of people that go in there don't get their soul sucked out of their body and dragged to hell. It's not how that works. It's just not how it works. I'm sorry that Hollywood ruined both of you.
SPEAKER_01I'm going to give you my own analogy. Yes. The Powerball jackpot right now is$1.8 billion. Uh-huh. Because there's chances... that you're not gonna win okay but but somebody's gonna win eventually
SPEAKER_03yeah you're right somebody will win eventually but if we go with that same thought process eventually you're gonna walk out of your house and get hit by a car so you just go stay inside all day
SPEAKER_02yep
SPEAKER_03Is that the idea? Is that the game that we're playing? You have better chances of getting struck by lightning than winning the lottery. So when it's thundering outside, are you like, oh boy, I need to leave. I got to stay inside because I might get struck by lightning.
SPEAKER_01But the big difference is you have to travel to go to work. You have to travel to go and navigate your life. You don't have to go to a fucking haunted place. You're right. You don't have to. You're right.
SPEAKER_03You don't have to. You're absolutely right. I will give you that. You don't have to do it, but it is fun. I will say it's fun. It's a good time. It's, it's, it does, it does make you, it does make you wonder. Cause it's like, when you see it for yourself, you're like, Oh my God. Like, okay.
SPEAKER_02Here's the other thing too. So Waverly Hills, from my understanding is, It's just haunted. There's never been any stories or documentation from my understanding to my knowledge of possessions or anything like that.
SPEAKER_03um so a haunting is a haunting is a haunting is a haunting it's just different different styles of haunting so
SPEAKER_02right but again so but there has my question waverly hills all the stuff occurs inside the building and it doesn't necessarily happen to people
SPEAKER_03no a lot of stuff happens to people in
SPEAKER_01there yeti yeah yeti what um i have a feeling that jay is one of those people where if he found this crazy looking, satanic looking puzzle box, he would sit and try to figure out how to solve it.
SPEAKER_03No, that's different. That's
SPEAKER_02different. It
SPEAKER_03would
SPEAKER_02be like a briefcase.
SPEAKER_03I don't think you got the reference, but what I would do, I would go to a haunted house, no problem. But to have, if somebody was like, I need you to figure this cube out, I'd be like, yeah, no, I'm going to have to pass. I'm adventurous to a point. I'm crazy, not stupid. That's how I look at it. Crazy, not stupid. When I see something, I'm like, that's going to be stupid. If I do that, that's stupid.
SPEAKER_02So this is where my issue lies. So Waverly Hills, I could do. I could probably do Waverly Hills. I know I could do that one. But my issue is, at the house, those artifacts are known... to bring and to do bad things to people. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. The stuff at Waverly Hills, from what I've heard, is nothing compared to what said artifacts do to people.
SPEAKER_03You're right. You're right. Which is why the Warrens always had it blessed. They had it blessed periodically so it wouldn't latch on to people.
SPEAKER_02What if that expiration date is coming up and no one's checked it. Hopefully Matt Rife
SPEAKER_03is smart enough to be like,
SPEAKER_02I'm going to take care of this. There's people down there
SPEAKER_03fucking
SPEAKER_01groping its head right now. So the issue is you just said Matt Rife is smart enough and I...
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that's where you have to... That's where the issue lies. Is Matt Rife smart enough to keep up on the maintenance of Ed and Lorraine's museum? That's what it's going to That's ultimately what
SPEAKER_02it's going to come
SPEAKER_03down
SPEAKER_02to. Yeah, and I'm good. I mean, I'm good. To me, that's one extreme that I just will not... I'm good. That's fair.
SPEAKER_03Just so we're clear, do I want to go to that museum? Absolutely fucking not. Because I'm not... Wait, so we
SPEAKER_02just
SPEAKER_03had this
SPEAKER_02conversation. What? I'm just saying. You're kind of Team Chauncey right now, or Team Me. What do you mean? You said you wouldn't go. Why would
SPEAKER_03you not go? What do you mean, why wouldn't I go? Because again, crazy, not stupid. That's stupid. Crazy is going to Waverly Hills or the Stanley Hotel. I would love to go to the Stanley Hotel. I would love to do that because that's incredibly haunted. That's active. That's active,
SPEAKER_02baby. Okay, I wouldn't mind doing that.
Reddit Roulette
SPEAKER_03But to do stuff like that where literally it's documented and all that kind of shit, I'm like, I'll pass. That's stupid. That is stupid. Would I pass by the house? Sure. I'll take a look from way across the street. I'll pass by the house. Don't get me wrong. That's neat. That's really cool. You want to go inside? Absolutely fucking not. Right. Nope. I'm good. I will pass. It was all for conversation. I'm just throwing it out there. Because I thought for sure you would have been down there like, what does this red button do? Click. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. I know better than that. Again, crazy not stupid. Alright. there would be stupid. And I'm not going to do that. I ain't going to do that. You know what, Matt? Have fun. Enjoy it. Enjoy it. Just be careful. You know what I'm saying? Be careful. Don't be out there doing dumb shit. And of course, if it is to be believed, there are a lot of people that are like, Men in the Rain were phonies. They were fake. They were grifters. Blah, blah, blah. Again, we weren't there with them. It is what it is. You kind of have to take the good with the bad, I guess, at that point. Anyway, if you are interested in visiting the occult museum that Matt Rife has bought, let us know. Fire off in the comments. Tell us why you would be interested in going, because why? Yeah, I don't know, bro. I don't know. Just why? Let us know, but other than that, we have a fun little game that we like to call Reddit Roulette.
SPEAKER_02We do.
SPEAKER_03Yeti. Yes. Oh, do we? Yeti. Do you have Reddit fired up for us? Geared up
SPEAKER_02for us? Ready to rock and roll? I fucking stay ready, bro. What
SPEAKER_03you lying for? That look on his face is like, I'm not ready.
SPEAKER_02I'm always ready.
SPEAKER_03All right.
SPEAKER_02Templeton. What's up? Pick one through 1.4.
SPEAKER_03What?
SPEAKER_02Just one and 1.4. 1.1.
SPEAKER_011.1, okay.
SPEAKER_02On
SPEAKER_03the Richter
SPEAKER_02scale. Okay, so here's one. That was a good one. And... 1.1. 1.1. Okay.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
SPEAKER_02Am I the asshole? Here we go. Yeah, this is going to be a good one. Do we have a good one? Yeah, we finally got ourselves a good one. Ready for this? Go for it. This was just posted 25 minutes ago. Am I the asshole for leaving a party early because I was uncomfortable with how drunk my boyfriend got? Ooh. Right, right, right. Okay. So, and this one's short. I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. Okay. Lay it on us. Last weekend, my boyfriend and I went to a friend's house party at first everything was fun but as the night went on my boyfriend started drinking heavily he went from being tipsy to completely sloppy junk stumbling spilling drinks and getting really loud I tried to stay patient but after a while it stopped being fun for me he wasn't paying attention to me anymore and I felt like I was just babysitting him in front of everyone I didn't want to start a fight or make a scene so I quietly talked to him When I talked to him, I was headed home and I left. The next day, my boyfriend went to my house and said I embarrassed him by ditching him. He told me that I'm worthless girlfriend and that I shouldn't have come with him if that was all going to happen. From my point of view, I didn't want to be his babysitter, especially when he chose to get that drunk. I came to the party to have fun and spend time with him and our friends, not spend the night worrying whether he'd fall over or embarrass himself. So, am I the asshole for leaving the party because I felt uncomfortable with my boyfriend?
SPEAKER_03Wait, did he say... What did he say about her?
SPEAKER_02Did he say worthless girlfriend?
SPEAKER_03You're
SPEAKER_02a worthless girlfriend? Told me that I'm a worthless girlfriend and that I shouldn't have come with him if that's all that was going to happen.
SPEAKER_03Nah, not the asshole. Not the asshole. Your boyfriend. Red flag. Because of that sentence, she's not the asshole? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You're a worthless girlfriend? what because no no so what i'm asking though let's say he didn't say that would she still be the asshole
SPEAKER_01probably not would you be
SPEAKER_02an
SPEAKER_01asshole probably not but there could be a little bit of room for conversation yeah yeah there's yeah there's
SPEAKER_03a little there's a little bit of wiggle room there but after after the statement of you're a worthless girlfriend he's a walking red flag like what the fuck i mean
SPEAKER_02i don't i don't i'm not for the record i completely agree with what you're
SPEAKER_03saying really um really i'm worthless because you look like you're being an asshole because of how sly drunk you are like like nobody okay i hear what she's saying nobody wants to take care of somebody like nobody wants to take care of a sloppy drunk right right well
SPEAKER_01i mean i mean well how is he gonna at what point does he take responsibility for his decision exactly i completely
SPEAKER_02agree with that hundred thousand percent like and i can tell you from okay so i got heavily heavily drunk super wasted i don't remember remember the night. It's a complete blank screen for me. My wonderful now wife took care of me that night. We remember that. Oh yeah, yeah. I was puking, I was pissing, I was walking around, if I'm not mistaken, naked at some point.
SPEAKER_03I wouldn't doubt it. I wouldn't doubt it. There was a lot going on.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was a terrible, terrible, terrible night. Um... but she she helped like I don't get it like she stayed and she helped me do I feel like she was babysitting fuck babysitting me fuck yeah she was like she took care of me you know what I'm saying like and by her I will say by her staying it added more level of love or
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I get that.
SPEAKER_02From your aspect. From my perspective, yeah. I
SPEAKER_03can
SPEAKER_02feel that. And then with that said, we had conversations after and she's like, hey, we talked about why I drank so much that particular night and how it happened. I took responsibility for it. I made what I... a man drink and I poured a bunch of alcohol into a Gatorade mixing cooler and no one drank the drink but me from my understanding and there's a oh my god oh my god
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say that was the point that I was gonna point out like because we all know Miss Yeti obviously and we know how she is and it's like she's the type of person like she cares about you so she's gonna take care of you
SPEAKER_00and
SPEAKER_01make sure you're good but she's also still going to hold you responsible for your decisions and she's not going to let it slide you're going to hear about it
SPEAKER_02oh a thousand percent and the next day when we were whatever by ourselves finally you know whatever we had a conversation and I mean I wasn't upset with her she wasn't upset with me we had a conversation about it now I understand why she would want to leave. There's some things I'd like to know, like the age, how long they've been dating.
SPEAKER_03Well, what we need to know is, was it a group of friends that they were with? Was it people that they knew? Was it a party full of strangers?
SPEAKER_02No, she said it was her friends. Went to a friend's house party. Okay, so... I guess... Go ahead.
SPEAKER_03I was just going to say, so how well do the friends know the boyfriend? Right. Because.
SPEAKER_01Go ahead. My thing is, all of this comes down to this. I'm assuming it's a dude. It could be or not. So we'll say person. This person chose to drink as much as they did. And then after the fact, did not take responsibility for their choices. Right. So the amount of alcohol that you drink and the things that you did after the fact are all your responsibility. They don't belong to anybody else. So if your significant other chooses to not support that... Like, who's ultimately the blame?
SPEAKER_03Yeah. No, I'm hearing you. I'm hearing you. And I agree with you. I do agree with you. Because that is also another thing that I wanted to point out was, especially after your story there, Yeti, his morning after didn't follow the same way yours did. He got upset and called her a worthless girlfriend. Like, what the fuck is that? Right. Like, it's one thing to feel a certain type of way because she left, right? Like, you can express, hey, you know...
SPEAKER_02That's just an ego thing. It is.
SPEAKER_03That's an ego thing to be straight up.
SPEAKER_02Right, it is. Because all the fans are probably like, hey, man, your girl left your ass because you were drunk. And it just fit into him.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. And that's where I'm like, I would like to know how well do the friends know him and what kind of behavior. I would like the OP to go into a little bit more detail of what kind of behavior he was exuding while he was sloppy drunk. Was he making an ass of himself? You know, because there's... There's a difference between being a sloppy drunk and being just drunk as fuck to where you can't even operate, which is where you were.
SPEAKER_02She said sloppy drunk, stumbling, spilling drinks, and getting really, really loud.
SPEAKER_03Okay, so he was just being very obnoxious. Obnoxious. Yeah, he was being obnoxious. So, yeah, you're making an ass out of yourself is what you're doing. And if they don't know him very well, if they've only known him for... you know, three weeks. And they're like, yeah, sure, bring your boyfriend. And this is the impression that you leave on people. First impressions are always, you know, the most important, right? So it's
SPEAKER_01like... Also, they've said girlfriend, but that doesn't indicate exactly how long they've been a couple. Exactly. It could be a few days. It could be weeks. It could be months. Like, who knows?
SPEAKER_03Like Yeti said, there are some things that are missing. How long have they been together? But...
SPEAKER_02even if we know those facts, his reaction, his reaction is wrong.
SPEAKER_03It's wrong.
SPEAKER_02A hundred percent. It's wrong. Her reaction to his irresponsibility. That's insane. Yup. And my piece of advice would be if that's how he responds in that situation, imagine if it's a more serious situation. Yup. And what does that look like? And, uh,
SPEAKER_01i'm gonna come right out and say it sounds like a possessive person to me
SPEAKER_02right and me personally now i can't speak for her but i would not want to be in that type of relationship hell no if it's already displaying these kind of things on something in my in my opinion is minor um and when i say that it's because again i go back to why he felt the way he felt and felt like he needed to call her a worthless girlfriend
SPEAKER_03yeah
SPEAKER_02And I think it's the ego thing. I think his friends probably talked shit. Then this is just me assuming. And he got in his head and he got in his feels. And I'm
SPEAKER_01sorry.
SPEAKER_02Right. Right. Like, come on. Like, and it's like, wait, I'm good. You embarrassed me. I don't need that kind of energy, you know? And to be fair, to be fair, there's been times where we've been out and I started getting a little heavy with the drinky drink and Emily's been like hey
SPEAKER_03tone
SPEAKER_02it down just chill out just a little bit yeah just chill it out just a little bit and guess what I do you tone it down out of respect yeah out of respect because she was I'm gonna say woman enough but that sounds sexist but she was she was person enough to come to me and be like hey like I love you but can we can we switch to water for a little bit yeah
SPEAKER_01the thing is she's not telling you what to do she's not trying to ball she's looking out for you right
SPEAKER_03right exactly exactly yeah she's not she's not trying to control how you're how you're acting out there it's just you know you gotta you gotta think of the optics of other people and all that kind of stuff like you can't you can't be out here making yourself look like an asshole in front of all these people and that's how people are going to view you you know what i mean they're gonna view you as an asshole and then and then for you to turn around and be an asshole and call me worthless oh nah bitch you gotta go you gotta go right
SPEAKER_01right we're
SPEAKER_03done
SPEAKER_01here another way to look at it is like say you're at like some kind of social event doesn't really matter what the setting is but like you're drinking you're drinking you're having fun you're drinking some more and you start getting a little bit suspect with your actions and somebody says like hey you know what maybe you should chill like just a little bit like you're getting a little bit extra Like, your response to that statement is going to be what people judge you on. Right. Right. They're either going to be like, oh, this is okay. He's listening. It's cool. Or you're going to, like, freak out and be a dick about it. And everybody's like, oh, you know what? Fuck that guy. Fuck this motherfucker. He's a fucking douche.
SPEAKER_03Fuck that motherfucker. Fuck him. Fuck him. No, but you are right, Templeton. How you react to that is it says a lot about you as a person. Right. who you are and how you react to certain situations. Like I said, I'm again, like what me and Templeton agreed upon, just with that statement, 100% not the asshole.
SPEAKER_02Not the asshole at all.
SPEAKER_03If he didn't make that statement, there could be some leeway as far as like, okay, maybe she could have talked him down a little bit, tried a little bit harder to, you know, hey, let's tone it down a little bit like Mrs. Yeti would tell you, let's switch to water for a little bit and then when you start coming down, then you can get back into drinking a little bit more so we can regulate this so you don't get fucking stupid. Right. Either
SPEAKER_01way you look at it, you are responsible for your own actions. 100%. You can't blame anybody
SPEAKER_03else for your choices. If you can't handle your liquor, don't fucking drink. That's just how that goes. Big facts. If you're just going to be like that, then you probably shouldn't drink. Well, I like drinking. I understand that. But you get stupid. You do it wrong. Stop it. So there you go. Not the asshole. If y'all want to get in on this conversation, fire off in the comments. Tell us what you think. Are they the asshole? Are they not the asshole? How would you react in that situation? I
SPEAKER_01mean, me personally, when I'm in social settings like that, I make it a point to know drink very much because I'm usually the one that has to take my own ass home.
Magic Mind
SPEAKER_03That's fair. I can't party too hard. I gotta drive. I gotta drive. Alright, well, you know what I think? Here's what I think. I think those two needed a little something to take the edge off. You know what I mean? Just to kind of calm them down a little bit. And what better way to do that than Magic Mind? Great stuff, by the way. Great stuff. It's got ashwagandha in there. The green stuff. The green stuff. Got cool little nootropics, ashwagandha, you name it, L-theanine, lion's mane. Got some matcha tea in there, give you your little shot of caffeine. It will wake you up a little bit, but it's a calm, soothing energy. You are very zen. On my way. And you're not vibrating. Exactly. On my way. On my way. But you're not vibrating, right? Not like typical caffeine does to you. That L-theanine kind of regulates the absorption of the caffeine. So that way you are, again, you're alert, right? And it gets your mind in that flow state. So I'm going to take me a shot.
UNKNOWNAh.
SPEAKER_02You know, I find it very interesting, like, when you drink that stuff, like, everything he's saying, like, I felt when I was taking it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And it's just interesting because, like, in your brain, you're like, ah, there's no way it feels different or feels better than a five-hour energy shot. And it does. It does. It feels like a healthy boost of energy. Because you don't get the crash.
SPEAKER_03Right. the end of it all it is literally like just and what's crazy is because I know you asked me a couple shows ago if I slept better with that stuff with Magic Mind I kind of do because again the Ashwagandha like really does calm you down and again over time you will see the effects immediately right but over time when you start building that up in your system you absolutely like I am out like a lighthouse Half the time, dude. I fall asleep so fast anymore, it's ridiculous.
SPEAKER_01That was a point that I was going to make, because I don't sleep very well on the best of days. I just don't sleep well. So for a long time, like several years, I was really heavy into the energy drinks just to get me through the day. It doesn't matter which ones... It was just, like, I was drinking three to five of those a day just to, like, get through the day. And I was like, you know what? This is going to end up killing me.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So I gave those up completely probably about 10 years ago. Sheesh. But Magic Mind is significantly different. Oh, yeah, it is. Like, Definitely gets me through the day. I'm fine. I don't worry about my health drinking them. It does what it's supposed to do. Absolutely.
SPEAKER_03It gets you there. If you would like to be like us and you would like to try it, feel free to stop by www.magicmind.com and use our discount code FMJPOD20 for 20% off one-time purchases and give it a try. See how it works out for you. I promise you, you will like it. You can mix it in with other things if you want to. You can drink it straight up. You can just take that shot to the head like I normally do. Or you can mix it in with something. Mix it in with coffee or however you want to do that. They do recommend mixing it in with coffee because you get the caffeine from the coffee and the L-theanine and the Magic Mine. It'll help with that absorption and keep that caffeine in your system a little longer. but it won't be you won't like get the jitters and all that kind of stuff and you won't have the crash at the end of it so just give it a try give it a try tell us how you like it and yeah get that 20% off with our discount code because we love you our listeners be healthy be happy be happy be healthy wait is that Walgreens
SPEAKER_02that's a really good catchphrase but I realize it's Walgreens
SPEAKER_03it is Walgreens that is Walgreens you can't use
SPEAKER_01that
SPEAKER_03I didn't I
SPEAKER_01don't I didn't pay intention, so I just said what came to my mind. That's fair, that's fair. Don't sue
FMJ Tells: A Borderlands Story
SPEAKER_03me. Alright, so get your magic mind. Other than that, I think we have a topic to get to. Yeah, buddy. What are we talking about today? Big booties. Big booties? The land of borders. Borders?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_03Like borders? The bookstore?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_03That's crazy. We're reading books now?
SPEAKER_01I didn't know you knew how to read. Do they still exist anymore?
SPEAKER_03Ah, I don't think they do. It's a good question. Look, Yeti's about to Google if Borders exists. Does Borders? So anyway, as Yeti finds out if Borders is still around, yeah, it's probably not. Found
SPEAKER_02for bankruptcy and closed all of its stores by late 2011.
SPEAKER_03There you go. I think the only bookstore actually around is like Barnes& Noble. That's about it. And then, you know, the typical stuff. But, um, I think what Yeti meant to say was Borderlands. Is that what we're talking about?
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes. I just said it wrong.
SPEAKER_03Ah, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Land of the border. Yeah, that's, that's, I think that's worse than, um, uh, uh, what you call it? Uh, dyslexia. I think, I think it's much worse than that because you swapped whole words instead of letters. Um, but Borderlands. Yes. We want to talk about Borderlands because as of this recording, we have Borderlands 4 out September 12th. Which is next week. So as of this recording, it's next week. And I'm kind of excited. So before we get into Borderlands 4, let's take a trip down memory lane and let's discuss a little bit about Borderlands. One, two, three. Who remembers the first time Borderlands came out?
SPEAKER_01I do. I remember
SPEAKER_02it,
SPEAKER_01yes. I remember the commercial. Because they used the Cage the Elephant song. Ain't no rest for the... Sorry, my cat is fucking killing me. Ain't no rest for the wicked.
SPEAKER_03Yes, they did. See, I
SPEAKER_02don't remember the commercial.
SPEAKER_03It was good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was good. You know what? Based on the commercial, I wasn't particularly interested because I didn't know what the game was about. And the art style was a little weird to
SPEAKER_03me. I wanted to touch base on that because I do know that for quite a few people, at least people that I've spoken to about Borderlands, the art style turns them off and i'm like yes why because because it's like i i guess i understand you know it feels cartoony well it's not it's supposed to feel more like comic booky right like yeah at least that's that's the feeling i get supposed to feel like you're kind of inside of a comic book because it's a looter shooter rpg and when
SPEAKER_01that was like the early days of like cel shading right all right yes so people were like i don't this it's cool but it's also weird i don't know
SPEAKER_03yeah so i guess and they couldn't get past it which was odd for me because i'm like just give it a try like how can how can the look of a game now don't get me wrong especially now with the newer graphics and and and revisiting some like playstation 1 playstation 2 games huge difference huge difference in graphics and now when i'm when i'm looking at like i tried kill zone a little while ago I know I mentioned this on the show forever ago. And it's rough. I'm like, yo, we thought this was the shit back then. But for the time, it was. But it's like, going back to it, I'm like, yo. Yo, there's a huge fucking difference. There's a big difference between what we had back then and what we have now. I mean, I get it to a point, but for just art style-wise, I'm like, how can that turn you off when the gameplay, And the story outweigh that tremendously.
SPEAKER_01I guess my point was, because I told you guys, I wasn't super into it when they first introduced it. My position was and still actually is, I don't necessarily care how a game looks. I don't necessarily care how a movie looks. I care about the story involved. Right. Right. And because I didn't know anything about the story of Borderlands, I knew it was a first person shooter and that's it. I was like, you know what? I don't necessarily care. Um, But then I ended up actually playing it, and I was like, holy fuck.
SPEAKER_03This
SPEAKER_01game is goddamn awesome.
SPEAKER_03Right? And that's where I'm like, give it a shot. Don't be shallow and say, well, give it an actual try. Because I know, especially nowadays, people love to watch people play the game on YouTube and then just totally make their decision based off of that. They'll jump into the middle of a game of somebody else's experience in the game, and be like, you know what? This game is stupid. You haven't even played it. Right, right, right. You're watching somebody else play it. Yeah, it's going to be stupid because you're like, well, I'm bored. Of course you are because you're not playing it. So the person playing it, they're not bored. Now, what I remember, Yeti, Because we played a lot of couch co-op with the first Borderlands. Holy shit. I don't remember who I was talking to about this. It might have been Templeton, could have been Grizz, I don't remember who. But couch co-op, why have they gone away from that? I don't understand it. Yeah, me neither. So it's still there. Not as prevalent as it was before. They push online co-op more than anything. I'm not talking just specifically Borderlands. I know Borderlands has couch co-op. Always has, always will. There are some other games that do have some that have couch co-op. But the majority of your games nowadays, it's non-existent. It has to be online or you can't play it at all. So why is that a thing? Why is it that couch co-op is slowly fading out?
SPEAKER_01It's gotta be money.
SPEAKER_03think so i feel
SPEAKER_02like you need more technology into the system to get it online versus playing couch online or couch co-op
SPEAKER_03correct because all you're doing is splitting the screen and right and and you know you you just kind of you see the same thing but you have a different character it can't be that crazy you know what i mean to piece together we're not we're also not fucking we're
SPEAKER_01not It's got to be less complicated than MMO. For sure.
SPEAKER_03Absolutely, it has to be way less complicated. I'm just kind of like, couch co-ops are fun. They
SPEAKER_02are fun.
SPEAKER_03Going back to what I was saying. Don't peek. I see you looking, bro. You're looking at my screen, bro. Couch co-op was always dope. If we go back to 007, on the Nintendo 64, and you would do couch co-op and that's where you would always get those screen peeker screen peeker because you can get up to four people right and you're like don't look at where i'm at don't look at where i'm at because you can you can just look and see where the other person is and you're like oh if you're familiar with the map i know exactly where you are i'm coming for
SPEAKER_02you exactly exactly so it's like i don't know to be honest and i think again for us we loved it because that's what it was right But I think the whole line aspect is the online aspect is you're getting away from the screen peekers. You have your own, own dedicated screen. You can do whatever you want. And I think that's probably what it comes down to is the, the
SPEAKER_03having your own dedicated screen. I, I got it. I got it. Yeah. But again, it does take away something. Cause how many, how many hours do we play on borderlands? The first borderlands, how many hours do we play on that? We,
SPEAKER_02we would loot and loot and loot. That's all we did. That's all we did. Did I say
SPEAKER_03loot? Say it again. That's literally all we did was loot. Because you wanted the best guns. You wanted the best fucking guns. That was kind of the whole point of the game. Get those legendaries.
SPEAKER_02I
SPEAKER_03wanted to hear... And as I said in the last episode, there are times where I will quote Roland where like if I find something, I'm like, it's like Christmas and nobody gets it. And I'm like, I hate it here.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So I never get that because I was not a Roland stand. Really?
SPEAKER_03I loved Roland.
SPEAKER_01Roland was my dude. To me, he was so basic. I liked Mordecai. Mordecai, Lula's were my two like mains.
SPEAKER_02Mordecai, dude, that first, that first one with the sniper rifle, I was putting baddies down for miles and miles away. I was on different planets Sniper
SPEAKER_03motherfuckers. And that's where couch co-op is so fucking dope. Because whenever we did that, Yeti would post up somewhere and just pick people off. And my gameplay style, just run in and shoot. I'm running in just taking everybody out. I'm doing assault rifles and shotguns. Yeti's out there with sniper rifles. Just like, pachow, pachow, pachow. Because I'm like, I got my turret that I can throw out and get behind cover every now and then if I need to and all that kind of stuff. So it's like, we had a pretty good... Yes, we did. Yes, we
SPEAKER_01did.
SPEAKER_02yeah
SPEAKER_01so in the first Borderlands like Lilith was like the SMG person like she was killed at SMGs Mordecai was the sniper Roland was like the assault rifle he was the assault rifle and then there was Brick the big motherfucker and he was like the heavy weapons person like rocket launchers they still
SPEAKER_02kind of do that but they there's not as much emphasis on it like they did the first one because you got bonus Yeah. Just as a character
SPEAKER_03playing or using said
SPEAKER_02gun. Break down those skill trees and actually read what percentages do what to what and how. You can make broken characters. Yes, you can. Yes, you
SPEAKER_01can. You can break the fucking game.
SPEAKER_02And unfortunately, I am not one of those dudes that have numbers in their heads. He's like, I don't
SPEAKER_01have it. Yeah, I don't have it. Is that me? I'm not either, but there are plenty of YouTubers who are, and I just watch their videos. I need this weapon, this artifact, this shield, this thing, these weapons. I need to put my skill points in these classes. That's what I
SPEAKER_02enjoy. So I've done that. I did that on the last Borderlands. And the problem I found myself doing is like, I'd be missing a piece. Like, oh, it's the shield that I need. Well,
SPEAKER_01some of them are extremely rare drops. Right, right,
SPEAKER_02right. But that rare drop is in this one location So I would find myself hours, hours running this point A to point B, not getting it, restarting A, B, restarting A, B, countless hours playing five seconds of a game, trying to get a drop. That never happened.
SPEAKER_03You get lost in it. You get lost in it. But that's the whole point of the game, right? I agree.
SPEAKER_01I was going to say, Yeti's not wrong there, but, like, I enjoy the grind as long as there is a positive yield. Right. Right. the effort isn't worth the yield and I don't care. I would rather do something else.
SPEAKER_03That's fair. Yeah, and I think a game like Borderlands does a great job at rewarding you because, especially with the idea that, you know, they've got a bazillion guns in there that are constantly every time you load in, it's different weapons. So it's like, it's always spawning brand new weapons that you've never heard of, never used. And
SPEAKER_01Pecuni No, no, I
SPEAKER_02was just going to say the really cool thing about it too, is like the developers, it's been years, years since some of these games have come out and they still go in there and update shit to keep it fresh. And it's, it's crazy.
SPEAKER_03It's fucking crazy. They keep them alive. You still get shift key codes and all that kind of shit, man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And the other thing is like, we're talking about like legendary weapons. So you can legendary sniper rifle. the base damage is not going to be the same from drop to drop. The accuracy is not going to be the same from drop to drop. The handling, which is like how quickly you can aim or whatever, is not going to be the same from drop to drop. And there's additional stats. And it's always fucking different.
SPEAKER_02It really is.
SPEAKER_01Every single time. So you can get the same weapon many, many, many, many times. their stats every single time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And then the crazy thing is like, so let's say you pick up a gun that is like, it does, I'm just going to throw a number out there. Let's say it does 1500 or 15. Yeah. 1500 damage, you know, and you put it on your character and if you've got your skill tree to benefit said gun, it could take that gun from that has 1500 damage to like 10,000 damage. And then if you're like, Oh my God, there's,
SPEAKER_03No
SPEAKER_02way.
SPEAKER_03No way. Oh, hang on. Wait. Wait. Yeah. Here, drop it and let me try it real quick. Okay, you're back. What? We're back. You froze.
SPEAKER_01No. Yeah, you froze for a moment. Yeah,
SPEAKER_03yeah, yeah. You're
SPEAKER_02back. You're back. Okay. You're back. Alright, so that gun, 1500 damage and then with your skill tree, it could take up to 10,000 damage. And then you could be like, oh my god, this gun's amazing. You need to try this out. And then you pass it off to your partner, but his skill tree is completely different. So the base gun damage stays 1500. Now the gun's trash.
SPEAKER_03Now the gun's trash. You're like, I hate this thing.
SPEAKER_02What did you give me this gun for, bro? Bro, it's amazing. Well, I'm not on a fucking fucking rack.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Yeah. No, like, like that's, and that is the wonders of borderlands. And I, and I love, I loved borderlands. Now I, I, let me throw this out here to you. There was one game. There was a good question. I already know which one it is, but I do want to say, I want to ask which of the three, well, four, technically of the main storyline, which of those four were your personal favorite that you hold closer to your heart?
SPEAKER_01I'm going to say, Oh, this is gonna be crazy. So a lot of people, I'm going to say three. And I know all of us has played that game together. Like I said, The reason for that is I think the story is the best. I very much enjoyed one. But I think they were still trying to figure a lot of things out. Because the skill tree is different. The weapon proficiency has changed a lot. Two I enjoyed, but I've played that one the least. because I didn't ever actually own that until a lot later.
SPEAKER_03Gotcha.
SPEAKER_01But we have talked about this before, like four. I've played that game all the way through. I'm sorry, three. I've put the game through so many times that I have, because I always want to find the best build for each character and just see how good it
SPEAKER_03is. Yep.
SPEAKER_01So I always max them out and be like, oh, well, this one's pretty decent. This one sucks. So on and so forth.
SPEAKER_03I gotcha.
SPEAKER_01So 3 is probably my favorite. I really want to play 4, but that's going to be a little while because I don't have a next-gen system right now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03That's fair. So Yeti. Yo, which one, which one would you, would you say is, is your personal favorite right now?
SPEAKER_02So my personal favorite and, and I've got, I'm going to give my reasons here. Um, I really, really like three and I think a lot of it had to do because we all gamed on it and it made it a lot fun. Um, but personally it's number one because it's a classic. It's a classic. I mean, and I, what they did in that time was, hadn't been done and I think and I'm putting it more on the graphics like we've not seen anything we hadn't seen anything up to that point like that so it was different it was fresh it was like oh my god what is this and then like the fact that they made it very easy to play with a group of friends I absolutely loved and then the other kicker is just and this goes for all the Borderlands is the amount of context or content that's in it. I mean, I just was looking at prices and stuff, and if you go for the biggest baddie they got that comes with everything, it's$129.99. Is that expensive? Yeah, that's fucking expensive as fuck. Indeed. In the grand scheme of things, I mean, Borderlands 3 came out I think three years ago.
SPEAKER_03Longer than that, I think. Yeah, I think it's been longer than three years. For a while. Yeah, it
SPEAKER_02came out
SPEAKER_03in
SPEAKER_0219. I apologize. Okay. It came out six years ago. But the fact that they're still updating it and you're still getting fresh content and... Crypto season. Yes, and like... It keeps it fresh. So that$129.99, I mean, let's just go off of that number. That's a game that's going to last you at least six years, right? I
SPEAKER_03would say so. I mean, there's plenty of content. Like you said, there's plenty of content. The story's long enough. Especially if you explore every little bit of it. I know there are people that are speedrunners and they're like, I want to be doing this game in 20 hours. I'm like, I don't understand that. Because you're not getting the full effect of what that game is supposed to be about. And maybe that's where the disconnect is. Maybe that's why a lot of people dislike games because they want to run through it as fast as they possibly can without fully experiencing what the game is supposed to be about. Because Borderlands is supposed to be run around, loot, fight bosses. You're exploring. You're exploring literally everything. Everything that you could possibly find. Go explore. Go find stuff. Again, we just talked about how drops aren't always the same. You can get the same gun, but it's different. every time.
SPEAKER_01Can I make a point real quick? Yeah, go ahead. The thing that we haven't touched on and pointed out to people who've never played Borderlands, don't know anything about it, is you kill an enemy, sometimes they drop stuff. You open up the chest, sometimes they drop stuff. You kill a boss, they drop a bunch of stuff. Yeah,
SPEAKER_03they do.
SPEAKER_01And sometimes you just find random stuff, but every single time you load into that game, what gets dropped is random. Right. So, like, if you kill an enemy, like, the first enemy you see on a level, a gun, and then you back out and go back in, they might not drop anything. They might drop coins, they might drop something. Like, it's always random. Yeah,
SPEAKER_03the whole game's randomized.
UNKNOWNYeah.
SPEAKER_01It's not guaranteed. You know where the weapons are. You know where the armor is. You know where the accessories are and stuff like that. It's different every single time, even with the legendaries, which are the most rare. There's never a guarantee that you're going to get what you're looking for. Never, ever. And I think that should be noted. Because that's, to me, one of the biggest draws. If you want to make this monster build, you're going to have to play a lot of game hours to get it. Yeah,
SPEAKER_02you are. Hours.
SPEAKER_03Lots of them.
SPEAKER_02I'm looking at the dates, what years they were released. Borderlands, the original, came out in November. Borderlands 2 came out three years later in 2012. Then they did the pre-sequel, but that was more of like a filler. That wasn't really... Yeah,
SPEAKER_03it wasn't really part of... It bridged a couple things from 1 to 2. It's
SPEAKER_02a little weird, too. That was my least favorite one. I fucking hated the movement. It
SPEAKER_03was the moon mechanics because they had less gravity, all that kind of stuff, so you jumped
SPEAKER_02higher from the moon. Yes. So That brings me to my next point. So they've changed the movement in 4.
SPEAKER_03I know.
SPEAKER_02You can now double jump. I know. You can use a grapple.
SPEAKER_03I know.
SPEAKER_02You can dart in air.
SPEAKER_03So literally, from my understanding, they have expanded the world, number one. It is going to feel more sandboxy than the previous installments. So much so that you will actually have the ability to catch a ride. I don't know. I'm not going to say I don't think. Yeah, catch a ride. But I don't think catch a ride is going to be a thing. It might be, but you have the ability to just pull up your vehicle right there where you are. You don't have to stop by and catch a ride. I've seen a little bit of play. on it, and the world looks beautiful, by the way, but they literally, like, they're like, okay, we're gonna go driving around a little bit, and literally, like, this hover bike just materializes beneath them, and they just take off. And I'm like, that's... Which is kinda cool. It's cool! I'm like, that's fucking dope. So... Yeah. I am re... That's what got me super excited for Borderlands 4, because I'm like, they have done so many different things now. An overall. Yeah, so I'm like, I'm really looking forward to seeing how this game... Looks. Operates. I'm excited. I'm pumped. I'm pumped.
SPEAKER_02And I want to know the jokes. I want to hear the jokes and stuff like that.
SPEAKER_03Yes. I hope they go back to kind of like Borderlands 1 and 2 humor. Because if I'm being honest, for me, Borderlands 2 is going to be the one that's near and dear to my heart. Because Zero? My boy
SPEAKER_00Zero?
SPEAKER_03Beast. He's
SPEAKER_02a
SPEAKER_03monster. He's a monster. Zero was my dude. And you know what's crazy? Is that in Borderlands 1, Roland was my go to, and he was assault rifle. I go to Borderlands 2, and Zero was proficient in sniper rifle. It was like two totally different opposite ends of the spectrum. But Zero? Forget about it. Zero was an absolute dog, man. He just... He
SPEAKER_01was. So Mordecai was like the sniper guy in Borderlands, the first one. Love me some Mordecai. Fucking awesome character. But if Mordecai has nightmares about anybody, it's going to be zero.
SPEAKER_03It's got to
SPEAKER_01be Zero.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Because Zero ain't nothing to fuck with, man. And yeah, he's dope. But Borderlands 3, so probably in order, it'd probably go Borderlands 2, 3, and then 1 as far as list of my favorite. Because I think I played a lot more hours in 2 and 3 than I did the first one. 3 because of the story. Yeah, 3 because of the story, as Templeton mentioned. Who's your favorite character
SPEAKER_01in
SPEAKER_033? Who did I use?
SPEAKER_01I gotta think about that one for a second.
SPEAKER_03I gotta remember his name.
SPEAKER_01You got Amaria? I bet you it's Flack.
SPEAKER_03Mug
SPEAKER_02Mosey?
SPEAKER_01Zayn? Zayn's my
SPEAKER_03dude.
SPEAKER_01Zayn's my favorite, and then Flack.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Zayn's my dude.
SPEAKER_01Then Amara, and then whatever the heavy guy is. And again, I
SPEAKER_03will literally be just randomly saying this stuff but zane in the third one whenever whenever he opens something up he's like reveal your secrets and i'll just say that i will quote that and people are like what the fuck are you talking about i'm like ah nobody played borderlands 3 zane
SPEAKER_01has the best vocals like he does like lyrics or lines or whatever yes if you sprint for too long he starts like huffing and puffing and gasping and when you stop he's like i'm like
SPEAKER_03yeah that's That's me. Relatable, Zane. Relatable. I'll be tired, too. But no, Zane is my dude. I have him OP as fuck in that game. He also
SPEAKER_01has some super powerful builds.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Go ahead. There
SPEAKER_01isn't a heavy. I was going to say there isn't a heavy. The heavy technically is Moose.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But she's fine. There's nothing wrong with the character. his favorite to play. Right.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I got Zane to where it's like three bullets and they're, and they're frozen, like frozen solid. And, and, and then like headshots, just critical, critical, critical, critical. I'm like, yeah, eat it. So, um, yeah, I'm, I'm super stoked for borderlands for, um, some people aren't, I have one more question. What's up?
SPEAKER_02What? So are you going to get it when it comes out or have you already pre-ordered or
SPEAKER_03no pre-order? I, I will get it when it comes out. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Which one are you going to go with? What option? You're going to go with the base and get the 60, 70? You're going to go with the 100 or you're going to go with the Big Daddy Kane? I'm going with Big Daddy.
SPEAKER_03Fuck the
SPEAKER_02world.
SPEAKER_03On that game? Yeah, fuck the world. I'm glad you mentioned that because some people are mad at Gearbox because they're like, they have this bundle for$130 and the game doesn't even come with it? I'm like, yeah, if you read it, it states that the game is sold separately. Wait, what? All it is is a collectibles bundle that literally comes with all this cool shit, but the game doesn't come with it. The game is sold separately. It's not the game that you're buying. It's literally just a bunch of stuff that they're selling for Borderlands
SPEAKER_024. There's another thing that's$130.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Right, but
SPEAKER_02they're very clear about
SPEAKER_03that. Right. They are very clear that the game does not come with it. It doesn't come with it. You got to read it. You got to read. I understand this is asking a lot. It's a tall ask for some people. You have to read what it says. It literally states in there the game is sold separately. So why are we mad?
SPEAKER_01The Echo 4 bundle? Because I was going to point out that we all are very against microtransactions and developers wanting, oh, if you want to play this part of the game, you've got to give us this amount of money. And Gearbox sort of has that when it comes to crypto keys. You can get them in the game, but you can also buy them. But you don't need them. You don't need them to play the game. You don't need them to finish the game. You can Everything you can get with those crypto keys, you can get in the game. Right. Right. It's just a little bit more difficult.
SPEAKER_03And if you wait long enough, you don't even have to buy them. They just have them. They just hand them out. They just give you
SPEAKER_01the
SPEAKER_03codes. Yeah. If you're following them on Facebook or Instagram or anything, they will literally be like, here's some shift keys. Go get you 10 gold keys or whatever kind of keys they're handing out.
SPEAKER_01You get what you get. It wouldn't even matter if it's still random. Right.
SPEAKER_03right and and i will always remember when yeti was like oh you haven't had the diamond keys or whatever they were what is the platinum keys diamond keys he's like bro you haven't done that borderland borderlands three i was like no he's like dude let's do it right now and buddy when he showed me that and i had three fucking walls straight one shields one's uh guns and the other uh whatever it is the the uh whatever the third one yeah grenades i was like what in the actual fuck and it gives you like 5 minutes or like 3 minutes you're on the clock and you're like oh no and it's like the walls are filled and I'm like no way no shot
SPEAKER_01you know what we're talking about right Templeton I do and can one of you guys do me a favor and look up when Borderlands 2 came out, like what year? 2012.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, 2012.
SPEAKER_01And they still release crypto codes
SPEAKER_03regularly. You get shift
SPEAKER_02keys for 1, 2, and 3 all the time. And that is amazing because all those shift codes and keys, they can be used on every single game, from my understanding. I think there are some that are exclusive, but it will say exclusively for the game. But they do an umbrella they do an umbrella release as well yeah they let you know so they're just random
SPEAKER_03that's what that's why i'm like gearbox is like it's hard to be mad at them but you know you got people that are kind of pissed about i think it was like the president or ceo or something like that and because some folk were upset about the price of the game you know being 80 bucks or whatever it is and they're
SPEAKER_02like that isn't that isn't that the average price of a game right now well yes it's a little high it is a little high but i
SPEAKER_03think the average is what 65 i think 65 to 70 Yes, that's the average for a new game. And he made the comment of real fans will find a way to buy the game. And I'm like, okay, well... I see what he's saying. Like, I do see what he's saying. If you are a fan of the game, then you'll buy it no matter what. You know what I mean? Like, I don't want it to sound like, you know, I'm going to buy this game no matter what the price tag. Like, if the base game was going for, like,$120, I'd probably say no. You know what I mean? Like, I'd be like, ah, you're pushing it. Yeah, base game$120, I'm going to have to fucking break it. Yeah, I'd be like, ah, you're pushing it. But if the
SPEAKER_02base game... If you wait, like, two or three years, you get the fucking... all exclusive sale you can get that shit for like 20 bucks i
SPEAKER_03will always be mad at yeti for for what the fuck he did to me on what game was that was that i was that destiny or yes because i think it was because you had you you wound up with like everything and i was like i got everything yeah i was like oh yeah i gotta buy this shit and i was like what what is this i was like what the fuck is he's like oh really because i got all myself for free i was like fuck you yeah
SPEAKER_02yeah there's just a time frame that you should buy stuff because it's really fucking cheap and it gives you everything it's basically like the game of the year edition if you just like I said if you're not pressed on playing the game today when it comes out and you're willing to wait if you wait about a year or two wait for that game of the year edition and they're gonna cut you a fucking huge discount on it like I hate to say this but like the WWE games That's my secret addiction. I get them almost every year. But I know that if I wait till Christmas to buy the newest one, they will give it to you for 50% off almost.
SPEAKER_03There you go. Not a bad way to do things, honestly.
SPEAKER_02Like I said, if you're willing to wait and you have the patience.
SPEAKER_03Might as
SPEAKER_02well. You
SPEAKER_03know what I mean? Save some money. If you're that pressed about an$80 game, you know what I'm saying? If you're that pressed about an$80 game, just wait. And they're like, but what if I want to get it day one? I mean, then get it day one. You're going to have to pay the price. You're going to have to pay the price. And again, I understand that consumers are to blame for the prices of games because we're not doing anything about the companies raising their prices. Because we're still buying them. Yeah, we're still buying them. And I think that was his point was you know i mean you're gonna buy it if you want to play it you're gonna buy it that's that's how it's how most people's mentality is right like like like if again we can go back to the rog ally x right that's coming out that we just found out that you know the rog ally x is going to be a thousand dollars as opposed to the switch 2 that's 420 or 400 if you get the base right if you get the base right people are like oh 400 for a switch that's stupid but take my money for this$1,000 handheld that does less than the Switch does.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_03You know what I mean? I feel like that was his point. Did he come off a little brash about it? Sure. You know what I'm saying? If you're a fan, you'll buy it. But I'm like, is he wrong? Where's the lie? He's not wrong.
SPEAKER_02Where's the lie? I'm taking some time off of work. I'm taking two weeks off starting after tomorrow and it just so happens.
SPEAKER_03Borderlands.
SPEAKER_02I am going to be working on trying to get my daughter to sleep by herself because right now she's attached to the hip. And
SPEAKER_00then as soon as that happens,
SPEAKER_02I told the wifey it's going to be daddy's boot camp. I'm going to get her to sleep by herself. I mean, and the doctor, she had a doctor appointment today and the doctor flat out said, yeah, she's old enough to kind of let her cry it out. I said, wait, wait,
SPEAKER_03what? Say it again? Repeat that Am I good here this time?
SPEAKER_02All right. I know what that
SPEAKER_03means. You're going to be crying it out for a little bit, sweetheart. Say less. Say less. But no, that's what we got to look forward to. I do want to mention one thing, since we're talking about Borderlands. The movie.
SPEAKER_02That is the one disappointing thing about this franchise. Everything else was great. Everything else was great. Everything else was groovy. I support, support, support, support, but not that.
SPEAKER_03So, here's my thoughts. Okay, here's my thoughts on that
SPEAKER_02movie. It wasn't horrible. I rewatched it. It wasn't horrible. It's
SPEAKER_03not bad. It's not bad. Now, if it was named anything else but Borderlands, peak sci-fi action adventure comedy.
SPEAKER_02Peak. 100%.
SPEAKER_03It's a fun movie to watch. It's fun to watch. It absolutely is. And if you say it's not, you're line. Exactly. But because they attach Borderlands name to it. I have a problem.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. This just like readdresses the thing that we brought up so many times that I can't even count it. Like you have The fucking material You have all of the information From years and years and years Right in front of you Like that should be a slam dunk
SPEAKER_03If it ain't broke don't fix it
SPEAKER_02Right and going off of what you said Because I've said it before too as well And I'm going to say it again right now Like if you're a director and you're thinking about making a movie Why don't you go online And there's a thing that I learned From Deal or No Deal Ask the audience
SPEAKER_03I mean, you can do that. That is an option. Here's
SPEAKER_02the thing. We're not going to let you down. We're not. The nerds will unite and say what they want to see.
SPEAKER_03The problem is you have so many people that have a different vision of what they want to see.
SPEAKER_01It's impossible to make everybody in the fandom completely happy.
SPEAKER_02It is. It It is impossible, but there's pockets. And those pockets are... Some are going to be a lot larger than others.
SPEAKER_03I think, for the most part, if you... I've always said this, and I've probably mentioned it a billion times on this podcast. I don't know. But as long as you stick true to the characters, who they are, why they are the way that they are, you stick true to those characters, you can tell whatever story you want to. I promise you. That's fair. If you stick to that character, and people can look up on that big screen and say, yes, That's Roland. Yes. That's Tiny Tina. Absolutely. 100%. That's Tanis. Yes. I feel that. You can tell whatever story you want to. I promise you you can tell whatever. They can go on whatever adventure you send them on. You can send them to the grocery store. You can make an hour and a half movie of the original Borderlands characters going to Walmart. As long as they are true to their characters, if I see brick and mortar kai just are bickering back and forth
SPEAKER_00like like they usually do you know what i'm saying right
SPEAKER_03yes i'm sold like i'll be like right take my money right take my money and the one serious person is rolling like he's the father figure of it all like y'all bet y'all bet y'all better act right or i'm a beach os but that's that's the that's the joke he's serious
SPEAKER_00you know what i mean like yeah
SPEAKER_03you you got you could have told any fucking story you just have to stay true to the characters and to throw Kevin Hart in there as as much as I enjoy Kevin Hart as Roland it was a miss it was a miss it was such a miss because I was thinking about it the other day I was like the moment and it pissed me off so much because we went to go see that in theaters I know we did because we were like this is a theater the moment that movie started I had I had it in my mind and this is where this fucking god this is where I say if they stick to stick to the script. The moment I didn't hear Marcus telling the story, let me
SPEAKER_01tell you a story about something. You want to hear a story? You
SPEAKER_03know what I'm saying? The smallest detail. The moment it was Lilith telling the story, I was like, you lost me. You already lost me because Marcus is the one that's supposed to be telling these stories.
SPEAKER_01Marcus is the one. He's the one. Marcus, Marcus, right. Every single game when it starts. So you want to hear a story?
SPEAKER_03It's fucking
SPEAKER_02Marcus! His voice is iconic for them. Right!
SPEAKER_03Right! It's fucking Marcus! So why is Marcus not telling the story? Because here's how my brain operates. Because I'm like, this is how I would have did it. It would have been more of a rat race movie than what we've seen, than what they gave us. And you could have had fun. This is where you have fun with it. Marcus is telling the story, which means there are certain parts that you can embellish on. Because I'm pretty sure there is... I think, I think in the first one, maybe you fight a Skagzilla, right? So I was thinking in my head, like you could have had Skagzilla in the movie, right? Just a big ass Skag, massive, huge, right? And then if you succeed and you get a sequel out of it, have them run into Marcus at some point in time, or you know what I mean? Like somebody is, Oh my God, you're the vault hunter. You fought Skagzilla. And they're like, who the fuck is Skagzilla? And Marcus is like, Hey, hey hey you know you're like you're kind of cramping my story that i've been telling these people and they're like what have you been telling them you could have had fun with it and really like kind of shown the audience that marcus is telling the story but it's not completely accurate but it's still kind of funny that for the parts he wasn't there for he's not far off right like he's not far off he's telling the story he's not super far off but he definitely embellished on a lot of it and he's just kind of like you could have had fun with that but they didn't they instead they're like we're gonna have Lilith tell the story because this is a Lilith story I'm like it's not it's not it's not and I'm just kind of like I don't know like yes she's a huge part of it because of because she is a siren so it's like you know with everything that that that at least with I don't want to talk too much about it or ruin too much especially if you're gonna play Borderlands she does she does play a very pivotal role role in the games, eventually. But the movie just, for me, it fell flat the moment I heard Lilith be like, I'm going to tell you a story. I'm like, no, Marcus tells the story. That's how it always is. That's how it always will be. You lost me. The immersion is gone.
SPEAKER_01They should have had Edgar Wright direct
SPEAKER_02it.
SPEAKER_01I
SPEAKER_02agree. And you know who should have played Marcus? Who? Your mom. Louis Guzman.
SPEAKER_03You're going to
SPEAKER_02have to refresh my memory on
SPEAKER_03that
SPEAKER_02one. um yes uh he was in traffic boogie nights he's in wednesday
SPEAKER_01he's been like three million movies
SPEAKER_02yes
SPEAKER_01hey i'm gonna hold on let me yeah show a picture yeah
SPEAKER_03refresh my memory
SPEAKER_01like that's it's so surprising that jay doesn't know that person is i probably do i
SPEAKER_03just don't know the name like
SPEAKER_01that's
SPEAKER_03fucking market right there yep yes yes yes yes yes yes dude his face just let me tell you a story yeah let me let me tell you the story
SPEAKER_02fucking easy work right
SPEAKER_03there just a slam dunk and I promise you I probably would have been okay with a George Lopez I could have been okay with that I could see George Lopez who was the dude from shit
SPEAKER_01and let me see here Ant-Man no no no he was with Yelena Belova the Russian dude
SPEAKER_03oh uh david um whatever his name is from uh stranger things
SPEAKER_01that guy that guy
SPEAKER_03no i
SPEAKER_01don't
SPEAKER_03know his name he made a good marcus david david something he could have he could have but no no i i could i could see that harbor david harbor or something like that yes that's it yes yeah yet he's looking it up but um i could see that I can see that. Again, it was just something so simple that I think would have sold a lot of people, a lot of fans of the game, on that movie. Because that would have felt like the game, right? That was so easy. That was such an easy step to make, but they didn't do it. They refused to do it. David Harbour. David
SPEAKER_01Harbour, see? There are characters from that game series that people like or don't like, but there isn't a single character that nobody cares about.
SPEAKER_02Right. Right. Right. And that, I don't
SPEAKER_01know. Who would you have
SPEAKER_03picked to play Roland then? Terry Crews. for sure easy easy Terry Crews because he can play so the way I the way I envision Roland being in the movie is like how Liam Neeson and the late Leslie Nelson played who you call it in Naked Gun like they're very serious in a not so serious environment right like you got a bunch of crazy psychos and you have a ragtag team of of, of bandits, essentially that, that are literally like, just, just they're bickering back and forth. And the one serious thing in there is Roland. And, and he's trying to take himself seriously, but everybody's like, shut up, shut up, nerd. Right. Right.
SPEAKER_02You know, you know, and rest in peace. And who would have been an amazing Roland? Who? Michael Clark Duncan.
SPEAKER_03Oh yeah. Yeah. He'd, he'd have been a good one too. Yeah. If he were still alive, yeah that would be my top two top two go-tos but Terry Crews hands down rolling
SPEAKER_02what about what about Idris Elba or Idris Elba Idris
SPEAKER_03and it is Idris I don't know I mean he does have because I want to see what is it heads of state with him and is it John Cena
SPEAKER_02yeah it's on
SPEAKER_03Netflix I want to watch that to see his to see his chops in a comedy because I did he's a funny guy he He honestly is. He's a funny guy because I watched his Hot Ones interview. Oh, my God. It was funny as hell. Oh, my God. His face was just like... He said, when he ate that, he's like, whose idea was this? He's like, that guy over there. He's like, what's your name? He's like, Chris. Can you fight, Chris?
SPEAKER_02You know what other actor I'm becoming a huge fan of? Who's that? He plays Axel in Twisted Metal. Haven't watched it oh jesus fucking haven't watched
SPEAKER_03it yet i'm sorry what do you want from me
SPEAKER_02Hey, what do you want from me? What the fuck is his name? Hold on. Give me a second. I'll find his name.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. Have you watched Sakamoto Days? We're getting off topic. Anyway. But yeah, Borderlands. I don't want to hold us up too much because we are coming up to time and I know some people work in the morning and some people are tired. But just my final thoughts here. The games? Wonderful. Love the games. Extremely fun. Extremely fun. Totally fun. Even the ones that aren't part of the main continuity. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. Fun. And to play with other people, it made it even more fun. Agreed. That was a good time. Didn't really try out or play the Telltale's version of Borderlands. Maybe one day I will. Maybe one day I'll get into Tales of the Borderlands. But If you're interested in a fun first-person RPG, first-person shooter RPG, should I say.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's like a combo type of deal.
SPEAKER_03It is. I would definitely say get into it because the replayability of it is high, very high. And all three of them do a fantastic job of keeping you entertained and wanting to come back for more. They flesh out the world and the characters just as they need to and make the game very fun. Now, if you're a fan of the movie, great. I'm happy for you. As a fan of the franchise, not for me. I will pass. But other than that, you guys got any final thoughts on this?
SPEAKER_02I'm ready to try it. After we hang up here, I'm going to pre-order it. He's sold. I'm going to delete Borderlands 3. Oh! Okay, I'm sorry. This is completely off topic. Did you hear that Call of Duty is reducing its game file size from 125 billion to 25? Yeah. Bro. I did not know. Bruh. I'm soon going to be able to have multiple games on my Xbox again. It's amazing. Now, back to Borderlands. Yes, I'm sorry. Yeah, sorry. Go
SPEAKER_01ahead. I was going to say, like, if you want to play it, definitely play it, but also start from the beginning because the storyline is linear.
SPEAKER_03Yes, it
SPEAKER_01is. Yes.
SPEAKER_03Yes, it is. Yes, it is. So start from one, work your way to three, and hopefully eventually four if you have
SPEAKER_02the hardware. Now, if you don't have the funds and you don't, like, I can't get an Xbox One or whatever to play all these other games and a lot of money to invest in these games and a lot of hours, a lot of time, Go on YouTube. I'm pretty sure you can find a recap of said games in 15-minute intervals and then turn on four and go right from there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you could. Now, fun fact, if you want to start from one... You
SPEAKER_02can. They're backward compatible. They've
SPEAKER_03got bundles, too. I was going to say, they also offer, if you buy it through the game, as long as you have one, you can get Pandora's Box and you get all three games, including... the Tales for the Borderlands. Including the Telltales and the pre-sequel for like$30. All DLC. Everything. Very deep discount as long as you have one of the games. All you need is one of them. And you can get it.
SPEAKER_02Go get one of the cheapest ones you can find.
SPEAKER_03The first Borderlands. Get the first Borderlands. Get the Game of the Year edition. I promise you, you will not be upset. And then the rest of it's$30. The rest of it's all downhill from there. And you will have more than enough game to keep you busy until you
SPEAKER_01can afford at minimum a year worth of gameplay
SPEAKER_03and that's if you're speed running them all right so it's like I'm just saying there are ways to do it smartly so don't sell yourself short and give yourself the experience of Borderlands that's what I'm going to say TempleDinja do you have any final thoughts or was that was
SPEAKER_01that it just play it like it's a fun game i have zero negative things to say about it
Fun & Games
SPEAKER_03no notes no notes all right cool cool so who wants some fun and games
SPEAKER_02let's hear it are we doing okay
SPEAKER_03yeah I'm... We'll try to make it a little quick. It's just agree or disagree. Okay? Got four things to agree or disagree on. The face of Marvel... Yes. They consider Spider-Man to be the face of Marvel. Agree or disagree?
SPEAKER_01I disagree.
SPEAKER_03Okay.
UNKNOWNOkay.
SPEAKER_03Yeti? I'm about to disagree too. Okay. Face of DC, they say Batman is the face of DC. I can agree to that one. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Templeton? I'm thinking yes.
SPEAKER_03Okay. Okay. Face of cartoons. Just cartoons, like your normal cartoons, like Tom and Jerry, all that kind of stuff. They say the face of cartoons, Mickey Mouse. Agree or disagree?
SPEAKER_01Disagree. Bugs Bunny.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I disagree.
SPEAKER_03I could see Bugs Bunny over Mickey Mouse, 110%. And last but not least, face of anime. Face of anime is Goku. Agree or disagree?
SPEAKER_02I agree. And that could be because I'm a fucking... Could be biased. Yeah, I could
SPEAKER_03be
SPEAKER_02biased. But I agree.
SPEAKER_01I would agree with you. I'm biased because I love Dragon Ball.
SPEAKER_02Right.
SPEAKER_01But anime is really fucking broad.
SPEAKER_02It is.
SPEAKER_01And there are a lot of anime fans who don't like it. all so
SPEAKER_02but here's the thing though if you see his picture he's so iconic it's the hairdo like yeah everyone knows who he is even if you don't even watch it so like yeah that's why I say I agree with Templeton with the face of cartoons is in my opinion it should be the face
SPEAKER_03of what
SPEAKER_02cartoons
SPEAKER_03just cartoons
SPEAKER_02and then DC we agreed on Batman and then for
SPEAKER_03Marvel you both disagreed on Spider-Man
SPEAKER_02yes though he's up I feel like I have to give it to Iron Man and I think yeah and I think the reason being is because of what Robert Downey Jr. did with that character I agree
SPEAKER_01for that reason but also for another reason and there's been like three actors who have played Spider-Man plus Spider-Man wears a mask
SPEAKER_03okay
SPEAKER_01so like it could be anybody there and it's to Spider-Man. Like, it doesn't really necessarily matter what Spider-Man looks like. Right. But, but, Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark.
SPEAKER_03That's
SPEAKER_02very true. Right, right, right. And so, like, I mean, and again, you could hate Marvel, you could dislike it, but everyone knows Robert Downey Jr.''s face is associated with Iron Man. And Iron Man is Marvel. Like, I mean, just,
SPEAKER_01you're just talking hand in hand. The other thing you want to, Like, add to that is everybody knows that Iron Man is not the first, like, technically MCU movie.
SPEAKER_00but
SPEAKER_01there would not be an MCU without Iron Man.
SPEAKER_02Right, right, right. That's very true. And I mean, you could argue that the Hulk could be the face of Marvel, and you could also argue Captain America. Captain America. I
SPEAKER_03was going to lead Captain
SPEAKER_02America.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But the thing is, Mark Ruffalo wasn't the first person to play Hulk. You're
SPEAKER_02right. But we're just talking about when you think of Marvel, if I walked up to you and I said, hey, First superhero that comes to mind when I say Marvel, what are you going to throw out? The chances are it's going to be Iron Man. Captain America. Captain America.
SPEAKER_03See, my go-to immediately goes Captain America. That's just me because Cap is my personal favorite Marvel superhero. Oh, okay. That's why I just lean toward Captain America. But if I had to say face of Marvel, I could see Iron Man. I could. I could see
SPEAKER_02Iron Man. I mean, I could literally see Spider-Man. I can see Spider-Man too, but I just...
SPEAKER_03as well. I can't
SPEAKER_01see Spider-Man, but it depends on which Spider-Man.
SPEAKER_03That's true, but I could also see Wolverine. A lot of people love Wolverine. There's a
SPEAKER_02lot of people that love Wolverine. This is where I think the disconnect comes in at. If I said X-Men, you would think
SPEAKER_01Wolverine. Yes, for sure. So
SPEAKER_02that's where the disconnect is. Marvel and X-Men, even though they're the same
SPEAKER_03umbrella.
SPEAKER_02I agree with Yeti.
SPEAKER_01technically it's the same universe but i don't think the x movies and like the avengers movies like they don't it's completely different like deal
SPEAKER_03that is fair
SPEAKER_02it is but we're about to we're about to fuck around and find out when dr doom comes
Fun Fact
SPEAKER_03to play exactly don't don't get me started don't get me started okay so there you have it um let us know if you agree or disagree with with what we just read off uh as far as the face of marvel dc cartoon Toons and anime. Let us know. Let us know how you feel in the comments. Now, who wants a fun fact?
SPEAKER_02Let's hear it. Hurry up. I need to take a nap before I
SPEAKER_03go upstairs. Did you know that I'm about to put Yeti to sleep? That it is possible for two lucid dreamers to communicate mid-dream.
SPEAKER_01I did not know that. What do you mean by
SPEAKER_03that? What do you mean, what do I mean? Oh, you want to know more? I thought you wanted to go to sleep. Didn't you want to nap? Okay, so, new research claims it's possible to get people's brains to communicate to one another in dreams. Today's machine learning technology has been shown to visualize our dreams, but what if we wish to go further and actually share our dreams? At present, while we can interpret brain signals and roughly figure out imagined scenes and high-level thoughts, we have no way to transfer these into another brain. Perhaps that's a good thing. Many of us might be a little uneasy at the idea of computers pushing ideas directly into our brains during sleep. Our only current option is to use our senses. Words spoken into our ears while sleeping might be a way of transferring information from one sleeper to another, but how does a sleeping person talk or listen? It's more difficult than it sounds. Those who do speak during sleep called somniloquists, maybe? I don't know. I know I'm saying that wrong. Tend to do so because of stress. The strange mumblings and burbles aren't under conscious control. And listening to sounds is also not something we're good at while sleeping. Noises heard during sleep most commonly result in disturbed sleep and stress for the dreamer. But there's one kind of dreaming that helps. Lucid dreaming. This is a rare kind of dreaming where the dreamer is aware, yet still asleep. It can be induced with a bit of practice using various techniques. Perhaps, while in this state, two dreamers could actually communicate? Hmm. A company called Remspace not only claims that it's possible, but also that they've done it. They used external stimuli to help one sleeper enter a lucid dream state. They then communicated a word to that sleeper via earbuds. The lucid dreamer then repeated the word in their sleep, which was stored on a computer. Eight minutes later, the message was played to a second lucid dreamer who was able to confirm the word when they woke up. It may be of little use in its current state, but it was communication in dreams. There's another kind of shared thought that may be a bit more helpful, however. Researchers are now showing that people who work closely together start to synchronize brainwaves. It's been likened to the effect when musicians feel perfectly in sync with each other, or when people in a social group, like ours, feel strongly bonded together. Interbrain neural synchronization, as it's known, has been observed through detailed hyperscans using electro... Electronus phallogram, maybe? EEG scanners. I'm fucking up big words today that measure brainwaves. These might be theta waves emitted when we're very relaxed, alpha waves emitted when we're calm, or beta waves when we're alert and active. When these brainwaves, typically driven by beta waves, synchronize between two or more people, they can operate better, empathize more, and are even less sensitive to pain. Teams that are more in sync at a neural level perform better overall. The best part is that there's no need for artificial intelligence or brain scanners to induce neural synchronization between people. You just need to share experiences with others. You could listen to music together, dance or perform together, solve problems together, or simply talk to each other. We get this kind of mental sharing for free and we benefit strongly from it. So there you go. I don't think there's actual whole I mean, it sounds like just somebody said that it's possible, but it sounds like it could be possible to communicate in lucid dreams. What'd you say now? Huh? What'd you say? Oh, did you just wake up? If you make him say that again, I'm leaving. The whole point was to put you guys to sleep. Before we leave, we haven't done this in a while, do you want to hear the top listening areas for the month? Yeah, let's hear it. We actually have a top five. Again, I only used the last five episodes to get a better understanding of the top five. How do you want me to do? One to five or five to one?
SPEAKER_01One to five.
SPEAKER_03One to five. So coming in as the top listening area, Chicago, Illinois. Shot down. Shot down. How goes it? Apparently we have people listening in Chicago. Tied for second place. What do you think it is? Joe and Mama? It's Xenia, Ohio, and our friends in Frankfurt, Germany. What's up? Still on the map. Still on the map. Okay, tied for third place, Edgewood, Kentucky, Columbus, Ohio, Hebron, Kentucky. So I'm sure one of them is somewhere around here. Tied for fourth place. This is where it gets interesting. Tied for fourth place. place. Toronto... Toronto, Ontario. Drake?
SPEAKER_00Aubrey's listening!
SPEAKER_03Okay, you ready for me to fuck this up?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because if you don't fuck it up, you're done.
SPEAKER_03Okay, I know I'm not going to say this right. Yong Duong Po Gu Sol. I don't know if that's right. I think you said it right. I think you
SPEAKER_02said it right. I think we're good.
SPEAKER_03I think he did not. Yeah, I'm going to say no. And finally, Sydney, New South Wales. All right, let's take it. And now rounding us out at number five, Laurel, Maryland. All right, I'll take it.
SPEAKER_02I'll take it. I don't know where that's at, bro. It's in Maryland somewhere. It's led by D.C. It's in the U.S. somewhere. It's led by D.C. Is it really? Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Trump's listening.
SPEAKER_00Trump's listening.
