Using Akasha to Remove Blocks and Unstick What is Stuck

Akashic energy, also called Prana or Qi, moves through us in two different directions simultaneously. Universal Akasha enters through our head, flowing through our chakra channels, filling our body, being formed through our choices, decisions, actions and intentions into a manifested structure which flows out of our feet into the physical world. At the same time manifested Akasha or earth energy is entering us through our feet or perineum and informing us as it collects aspects of who we are and who we have become from our chakra channels, like silly putty picking up a picture from a Sunday comic, and transmitting it back to the Akashics therefore manifesting the Universe.

Universal Akasha flows into us through the mental chakras 7 and 6 (Crown/3rd Eye). In these our inspirations, dreams, and desires mix with our fears in the form of limitations or logic to create a plan which then begins to actuate as it moves through the body, from activation as spoken thought to heart felt wish, moving into getting our hands dirty, to connection with others and boots on the ground.

This is not to say the process runs smoothly from one to the other. With the downward path events, experiences, or difficulties cause the energy to move back up into the head. We then rethink our options or problem solve, adjusting the plan as necessary and new opportunities arise. We can also run into problems of non or mis- communication between our head, our heart, and our body through the process which causes things to go askew or to come undone completely. These issues become visible in the difficulty with manifesting intentions no matter how hard we concentrate on them, or plans falling through no matter how much we push the energy of desire towards them.

Rarely does our Akasha get completely blocked or disrupted, but much like an accident on the freeway during rush hour, things might get diverted, sometimes for years or even decades, until the work around has become routine. The body is resilient, chakras are far more robust than we give them credit for, and life will, in the end, find a way even if it's not the way we would like.

However, it doesn't need to stay this way. Blocks can be removed and what is stuck can be unstuck, whether this be mental, emotional, physical or all three. Working with your Akasha consciously can help you recognize where things have been diverted and help you begin moving them back into place gently, but permanently.

The place to start is with tracing the Akasha moving through your body. As the healing path moves from top to bottom, I recommend starting with the head. Anyone can do this if they use their ability to interocept. Perception is the use of our five physical senses to sense the world around us. This includes the external part of ourselves, but mostly focuses on our interaction with the world beyond our skin. Interoception is our ability to sense what is going on inside us. It's what happens when someone asks what we want to eat, if our headache is worse/better, or when the doctor asks where it hurts and how much. Our interior senses, both physical and energetic, turn our knowingness inwards and we fill with information.

To trace the Akasha moving through you, first hold a hand above the top of your head close enough to feel the heat coming from it. This is the top of your primary chakra channel and is where Akasha is coming in from and going out into the All That Is. Once you can feel this, begin tracing its route one hand's breadth as a time.

You can place your palms gently against your temples behind your eyes and above your ears. Let your interoception feel the energy moving through and giving the "Everything's OK" feeling. You can then move your hands to cup your jaw on either side. Hold yourself gently until you feel the "OK".

Keep doing this down your body until you have put your hands on your feet. This should be done slowly. No one likes a doctor or nurse to race through an examination like they have somewhere else to be. This is for you and about you and a way to get the information you need to make improvements, so think about this taking the same amount of time as it takes to bake a luscious cake or watch an episode of a good show.

All along the way you can take note of where things don't give the "OK" or where they feel not quite right. You may get immediate feedback in the form of emotions coming up, memories, a desire to go do something else, all of which are valid. This is information from the stuck spot and a way to begin the unsticking. I recommend acknowledging whatever comes up, even have a notepad or device to take notes on, but keep going so you get a complete scan. If there are multiple areas which seem stuck or affected, note that too. Just like everything in your body is connected, so too are all the chakras and when something is stuck it's rarely stuck in just one spot.

Once you've recognized where the stuck spots are you can begin to engage with the Akashic flow. Remember, Akasha is always flowing through you, top to bottom and bottom to top, so you don't need to call in more energy. Instead, you want to begin working with what is already flowing through you to start the "all clear" signaling which will allow the body to unpack what it has in storage.

To do this, find somewhere you can sit comfortably with your back fully supported. This can be on the floor with your back against a wall, in a high-backed chair, or a comfy couch with a nice headrest. Have next to you something which you can use to put gentle pressure against the area you are going to work with. A rectangular couch pillow can be good along the spine, or a bolster can work for hips. This should be firm, but supportive pressure like your hands, nothing forceful, painful, or sharp.

Once you are seated with your pillow or other pressure support item beside you, let your awareness move from the front of your body to the area you will be connecting with. Let this be both physical and energetic, allowing your nerves to report their experience of you while you relax into a meditative state. This is much like what people call mindfulness practice, but it is targeted at a specific area of the body. For those who have taken yoga classes, the goal is much like Savasana. To be completely relaxed, the mind calm, but awareness stays fully present and attentive to the body. For those who are energy aware you may wish to notice the Akasha flowing through you like river water through a Delta or wetlands, like blood flowing through the veins and arteries threaded throughout your body.

Once you've relaxed a bit and your brain has slowed down into a meditative mode, move your awareness to the area you wish to engage. Let yourself take in its "normal" state and validate this is you. Then gently put your support pillow or item in place and rest yourself against it. Allow yourself to experience what it is to be supported in this vulnerable spot. Acknowledge you are supporting yourself there, possibly for the first time.

If/when you feel ready, you can start moving more Akasha into this area. Through this mindfulness practice Akasha will have gathered and pooled around the area you're working with. Think of allowing this energy to flow like a shower which cleanses or a rain which replenishes after drought. As more Akasha moves through you, you should feel the area warm and your body may want to move, squirm or shift. Allow any movements and follow any insights you might have. This is the body offering you its wisdom.

You may experience flushes of difficult emotions, retrieve memories, or feel vibrations in various parts of your body. It's not unusual to feel heat flushing through muscles and joints which don't have pressure on them. This is the nervous system releasing stored energy, trauma, and emotions gently. You may even experience chattering teeth and the shivers if something deeper releases. This is part of what happens when we heal after a traumatic event.

Do not force yourself to be still or to stay in the process for any preconceived length of time. These actions will cause your body to respond as if things are not "all clear" and store things more securely, which is the opposite of what you want. Don't force things, but instead accept and allow.

Once you are ready to complete the process, lean forward or release your pressure on the support pillow/item and remove it gently. Sit upright and allow yourself to feel how things are different from when you started.

Bring your awareness back to the front of your body by wiggling your fingers and toes, looking around the room, and shifting your weight. Be careful and mindful when standing up as things might have shifted physically for the better, but this can be awkward if you're not prepared for it.

As with a massage or other physical healing modalities, make sure to drink water in order to flush out any toxins or debris which has been released into your system.

The full effects of this work can take 24 - 72 hours to be fully felt, especially if core emotional or behavioral issues are involved. Be graceful with yourself should you start remembering difficult things, having epiphanies, or experiencing feelings which seem disconnected from the current moment. Use the best self-care you can in the moment so they can stay up front where you can work with them.

You can do this process as often as you like or you need to not only remove what is blocked or stuck, but repattern your internal freeway network, as it were, so it becomes robust and functional the way you deserve.
